All eyes were on Frisk as he collapsed on the floor. He had fallen out of his chair. Argus had a terrified expression on his face. Sapphira noticed this and approached him.
"Argus… Is this…. what I think it is?" Sapphira asked in an anxious tone.
"I don't know for sure... I-" Argus trailed off as he noticed Catty walking closer to Frisk.
"Frisk… Are you okay?" Catty said as she moved closer to Frisk, who seemed unconscious.
Argus screamed, "CATTY, STOP!"
Catty flinched when Argus screamed. She was frightened by the terrified look on Argus' face. She stopped in her tracks and turned her gaze at Frisk again.
"Don't get close to Frisk. It's too dangerous now... " Argus said in a serious tone. He was breaking out in cold sweat. "If my hunch is correct, we may have to fight this human."
Toriel barged into the room right after Argus finished talking. She was confused as to what happened. She scanned the whole room to see if they had been attacked. It did not seem like they were attacked. She saw Frisk, who was lying on the floor. She glanced at Argus, who had a terrified look on his face.
"Oh my!" Toriel's eyes widened. "What in the world happened here?"
"Oh Tori." Argus turned his gaze towards Toriel. "Don't come closer. This… this…. This might be..."
It took a minute for everything to sink in. Toriel finally had the grasp of the situation. It reminded her of something similar that happened a few years ago. The memory caused her to become terrified.
"I-Is this?..." Toriel was trembling with fear. "T-the same as last time?"
"Yes… I think so... " Argus said the words he never wished to utter. "I feel some kind of dark aura in the air. It's not visible yet.. But it's there. Like last time. But it's somehow weaker."
Toriel stood at the same place, frozen with fear. Unable to move. The memories overwhelmed her. She did not want the same thing to happen again.
Frisk started moving. He struggled to get back up. The other monsters flinched when he got back up. They prepared themselves to fight just in case. Black smoke started coming out of Frisk's entire body. He glanced at Toriel. Toriel was terrified of Frisk's glowing red eyes. She felt like he was not Frisk anymore.
"Frisk! Frisk!" Toriel cried out. "It's me Toriel! Can you recognize me?"
There was no response from Frisk, he just kept staring at Toriel with murderous intent. "I guess there's no talking to him as he is now." Toriel muttered as she summoned a fireball on the palm of her hand. At that same instant, Frisk moved so fast that Toriel could not follow him with her eyes. The next moment, Frisk punched her, which sent her crashing against the wall.
Argus screamed, "TORI!"
All of the monsters were frozen with fear. Frisk was beyond anything that they had ever imagined. Frisk was moving slowly towards Tori. From what Argus could see, there was something in Frisk's hand that glowed in bright red. It took a few seconds for Argus to realize that it was a red glowing knife. "He's using Soul Energy. He CAN use soul energy." Argus thought.
Catty was shaking. She was even more terrified than she ever was before. She wanted to get out of the room as soon as possible, but her body was not listening to her. She was too scared.
As time passed, Frisk slowly walked towards Toriel, who just got back up. "Looks like I HAVE to attack him after all." Toriel thought as she summoned more fireballs around her and launched them all towards Frisk. Frisk was able to dodge all of them with ease. Toriel's eyes widened. She had never seen anyone who was able to dodge her attacks like that.
Frisk slowly came closer to her. But before Frisk could reach Toriel, he fell down on his knees, put his hands on his head and started screaming. He was in intense pain. His screams were so loud that everyone had to cover their ears. After a few moments of screaming in agony, Frisk collapsed again.
The monsters stood in the same place, frozen. They were still afraid. A few minutes went by like that and they finally gained the courage to move. Toriel picked Frisk up. Frisk was unconscious from what she could see. The dark aura surrounding him was gone. Toriel let out a sigh of relief.
"What a surprise..." Argus said as he moved closer towards Toriel and Frisk. "I didn't expect him to have this much power hiding inside him… He's…. He's on a whole different level. We're lucky he collapsed before he did anything."
"Yeah, it could've been a lot worse if he actually did something." Toriel said in a terrified voice. "I didn't even know what happened. How he was able to punch me with that speed. I think we shouldn't tire his mind. We should take the training process very slowly, no matter how much he complains."
Argus nodded at Toriel's suggestion. He could not calm his fear down. He knew that he had to be careful around Frisk, and that Frisk was not an ordinary young man. Argus wondered if he would be able to teach Frisk normally.
"Yeah, we need to make changes to his training schedule. I was going to let him master some of the aspects of meditation, but he started showing those signs, so I had to stop right away." Argus explained as he looked at Frisk's face.
Catty and Sapphira stayed quiet, without uttering a single word. They were too terrified to even speak. Argus could clearly see the terror in their eyes. He did not blame them, because they have had a similar experience before with another human. That incident alone was able to make them shiver with fear.
"I'll.. I'll take Frisk upstairs…" Toriel said. "I'll look after him, don't worry."
Toriel held Frisk in her arms and stood up and made her way upstairs. This had reminded her of the time when she carried her foster son just like this. She missed him. She wanted to bring him back, however, he was beyond saving. She did not want to make the same mistake with Frisk. So, this time, she made a promise to herself to look after Frisk properly. That was the only way that she could make amends for her foster son's condition. Tears dripped on Frisk's cheeks as Toriel took him to his room.
Toriel could not do anything besides crying about her foster son's situation. Her biological son was also in the same state. She still remembered the night where she had lost her daughter and two sons. It was a hellish experience for her. She had never thought that she could lose everything she cared about in just one night.
The other three monsters were watching Toriel as she made her way out of the room. They feared the past repeating itself again. They wondered if they could trust Toriel to take care of Frisk. It flooded their minds with awful memories of the past.
Toriel gently placed Frisk on his bed after she entered his room. It reminded her of another human who went on a rampage.
"Don't worry, Frisk. I won't let you descend into madness. Everything's gonna be alright." Toriel muttered to herself.
She left Frisk's room and went downstairs. She entered the living room, where three worried monsters were sitting down on chairs. Toriel could see their worry clearly from their faces.
"H-how is he?" Argus asked in a curious manner.
"He's alright… He just needs some rest." Toriel answered even though she did not know what was going on with Frisk.
"Well… I don't think we should keep him alive. He's dangerous.." Argus suggested.
"That…. that wasn't the real Frisk, Argus.. How could you suggest something like that?"
"Well, I listened to you last time. And it caused us a lot of pain. Do you want to go through that again?"
"Just because something went wrong last time doesn't mean it'll go wrong this time." Toriel yelled.
"There's a high chance that it could happen again. We got lucky last time because Sans was there with us when it happened. And we should be glad we didn't lose someone. But Sans is not here this time. There's no telling what could happen once Frisk starts rampaging again. He needs to be killed." Argus explained.
"But that doesn't-"
"We should get rid of him, Toriel. He's too dangerous. He's stronger than the last one we faced before. We won't have our lives the next time he goes berserk."
"Don't worry about it… Leave it to me. I'll think of something. He needs some rest for now." Toriel said in an uneasy tone.
Argus did not want to hear that from Toriel. There was nothing he feared more than the past repeating itself. "If he goes on a rampage again, we'll all die. There's no one to stop him this time." Argus thought. He did not want to risk Frisk getting out of control again.
"Tori! W-will Frisk… be alright?" Catty forced the words out of her mouth.
"I think he should be fine. He just needs some rest." Toriel answered.
"W-well… I… I think we should go now. Thank you for having us here, Tori. Good luck with Frisk." Sapphira said with a sad expression on her face. "Let's go, Catty..."
"Okay." Catty agreed with her sister.
The two sisters made their way out of the room. Argus followed them without another word.
Toriel was completely alone in the living room. She sat on one of the chairs in the living room and sat there, thinking. She was in deep thought. She did not expect the recent incident to happen. She had never thought that Frisk would turn out to be like this. She was familiar with the situation as it happened before.
Argus' words came to her mind as she was thinking. She did not blame Argus for thinking that way. Because it was the easiest solution to the problem. She still rejected it because she did not want to be a murderer. She did not want to be like a certain someone she knew. She believed that things would somehow work out this time.
A few minutes later, she went into Frisk's room to see how he was doing. She saw Frisk sitting on his bed. She slowly moved towards him. He noticed her and looked at her, The look in his eyes was normal. She could tell that Frisk was back to normal.
"Toriel. What happened to me?" Frisk asked curiously. "I was sitting on a chair and then… I don't remember what happened after that."
"Yeah, you were just tired and fell asleep there. So, I carried you here." Toriel lied. She hoped that Frisk would not notice her lie.
"Oh so, that's what happened." Frisk said as he stroked his head. "I don't remember feeling sleepy at all."
"Yeah, meditation training makes those kinds of things happen to you. That's why you shouldn't do meditation training too much." Toriel lied again.
"I see… So, it makes you fall asleep without even feeling sleepy?" Frisk asked. "This has never happened to me before."
"Yes, it does. It makes you mentally tired. Not physically. That's why you didn't feel sleepy." Toriel said in a slightly uncomfortable way.
Frisk noticed that Toriel was uncomfortable. "Why is she acting weird now?" Frisk thought as he looked directly into Toriel's eyes. He felt like Toriel was hiding something from him again. This time, he decided not to ask since he knew that she would never tell him anything.
"I don't think I fell asleep." Frisk muttered.
"Hmm? What was that?" Toriel heard Frisk muttering, but his voice was inaudible to her.
"Nothing.." Frisk said right away. "Anyways, where are the others?"
"Oh, the others are gone now. Something came up and they had to go." Toriel said.
"I see… Well, I was looking forward to the meal. What a shame."
Frisk noticed that it was getting dark. The sun had already set. It made him feel uneasy. He felt like he just wasted another day without going back to the Surface. He did not want to stay Underground. He wanted to get out of Underground as soon as possible.
"I'm going to make some cinnamon rolls for you, Frisk. I was interrupted midway. Stay here. I'll bring them over here as soon as I finish." Toriel said as she made her way out of Frisk's room.
After Toriel left the room, Frisk stood up and looked at the garden through the window. He was not going to give up like this. He decided to try and steal the key from Toriel. "Just you wait, Toriel… I'll escape from this place as soon as I get the chance. I won't be staying here forever." Frisk thought. He knew that it was not going to be easy to steal the key from Toriel. He would need help from someone else. Who would help him in this situation?
