A/N : My laptop broke XD XD XD it suddenly went and showed the blue screen of death (in computers) in the middle of a zoom meeting I was in. I tried to take it to repair but apparently they couldn't fix it… well, that's what they said. And so we tried another repair shop but they told us basically the same thing. So yeah, right now i'm just using my phone.

Chapter 9

Wolfram's POV

"I should really consider locking the door before I sleep at night," I said while laying down the bed as Gisela was trying to help me with my supposed morning routine.

"What? Why?" she asked me.

"Yuuri entered the room earlier while I was having my morning sickness and doing my wretched business in the bathroom…He didn't knock or call out. He just went inside the room and by the time he talked to me, he was already in the bathroom behind me rubbing my back." I answered.

"Oh… yeah, that. He actually went to the infirmary to inform me that he found you sick," she said as we were finishing up. "But I would still advise against locking your doors, Wolfram."

"I would only do it at night before bed," I tried to reason with her.

"As much as I want to allow you to do that, you are in the most vulnerable stages of your pregnancy. This is when the fetus is most susceptible to damage and we would need to be able to access your space any time in cases of emergency… though I hope there won't be anything like that." she replied.

I just sighed and sat on the couch in front of the fireplace. Gisela sat down beside me and continued chatting with me.

"You know, I think you should consider eating plain sweet biscuits early in the morning before getting out of bed," she said. My head turned slowly to her direction, slightly interested on why she brought it up.

"I heard that an empty stomach tends to trigger nausea more. Of course, don't eat stuff that you think will make you nauseous. Just try it, maybe it can help with your morning sickness."

"Sure… then I guess I'll have to trouble you getting those biscuits for me," I smiled at her before dropping my whole weight on the couch and closing my eyes.

"Hey, you gotta eat your breakfast. Your mother will be here soon with your food… get up." she reminded me.

"I'll get up when she's here." and she just sighed.

After a few minutes, my mother entered the room but I was surprised to see that Miko-san also came in.

"Good morning, Wol-chan! I do hope it's alright with you if I came here to eat breakfast with you all." Miko-san said as she places the tray she was carrying down the table.

"We'd love to have you here, Mama." I said with a soft smile. "But is it really okay? I mean Shouma-san and the others will all be eating more comfortably in the dining room, and there will be a better variety of food there."

"Oh, yes. Let them enjoy the food there. I'm here, enjoying my time with you," and she made fangirling faces as she continued chatting with us.

We were half-way done with our breakfast when Miko-san asked a few questions after our happy chat.

"So… just to be clear with what's happening, may I ask how long does a full term demon pregnancy take?" she asked ever so carefully, as if she was scared to offend laughed softly and told her that she doesn't need to be cautious asking those types of questions.

"Hmm… female demon pregnancy is different from male demon pregnancy," Gisela started. "Well, I'm assuming that a full term human pregnancy in your world is 9 months… just like here in our world?"she then asked.

"Oh! Yes, yes. Approximately around 9 months." Miko-san answered.

"Well, a female demon's full term pregnancy usually takes 12 to 15 months, depending on their maryoku. A demon couple you see, supplies their children with maryoku while the baby is in the womb. If their maryoku capacity is not much, it usually takes longer for the baby to develop full term." Gisela explained.

"Does having maryoku given to the baby a requirement for the baby to develop?" Miko-san asked.

"No, Miko. While this does not affect the fetus's physical growth, it can affect their maryoku capacity while they grow up. The more maryoku a demon can have, the less chance for that demon to die of maryoku exhausion. But maybe a mother demon's body can instinctively feel if their baby hasn't received enough maryoku to guarantee their survival in the long term. That's why even if the baby is physically in full term, there can be a chance that the contractions won't start until the baby has received enough maryoku." my mom explained to Miko-san who seem very interested in the topic

"But once the 15-month mark has been reached, most mothers will have contractions even if the baby hasn't received enough maryoku." Gisela added.

"Well… wouldn't that be dangerous?" Miko-san asked.

"No, this is a peaceful time to live. No wars… and we're even making treaties with other human countries. Maryoku exhaustion basically doesn't happen in times like these where there's no need to fight. And even if there will be a war, only those capable of fighting will be deployed." I added.

"What if the mom is a single mother?" Miko-san asked.

"Well then she would have to supply the baby on her own. That's usually the case when a mother reaches the 15-month mark in the first place." Gisela then clarified.

"Oh, i see. I see. How interesting… So how about with Wol-chan's case? Male demon pregnancy." Miko-san then asked.

"From the cases in our history, the shortest would be a year and a half… while the longest can take around a couple years. Oh, you see… Male demon pregnancy is very very rare. It usually only happens to full-blooded demons of very high maryoku capacity at birth… Like Wolfram, of course." Gisela gestured to me with a proud smile, as if she was the one who gave birth to me that way. "And that is why I am also thrilled to be the one taking care of him and his journey first-hand because this is such a rare case. Almost miraculous."

We all laughed lightly at Gisela's visible excitement while we were eating.

"Well, it would be more shocking if Wolfram would have a small maryoku capacity at birth. I mean just think about it. His mother was the Demon Queen, obviously blessed by Shihou Heika with an enormous maryoku capacity… while his father was one of the best fire Mazokus in the land and was once the head of the Bielefeld Navy. And both of us were diligently pouring our maryoku on Wolfram daily during my pregnancy," Mother winked at me and I just smiled looking slightly embarrassed. "I'm pretty sure my baby has a maryoku capacity equal to that of three men… maybe even more."

"But the down side for this…" Gisela trailed off.

"There's a down side?" Miko became worried.

"Well, his maryoku won't be stable during his pregnancy as his maryoku is being unconsciously poured into this womb even while he's sleeping. So he won't be able to wield his element properly." Gisela finished. "We're pretty worried for his well-being as he cannot protect himself with his maryoku or even physically as he would need to be careful as not to harm the baby. And that is also why I am against him locking his doors when he's alone in his room." She turned towards me with a knowing smile as if reminding me of our conversation just before my mother and Miko-san entered the room.

I laughed nervously and assured her that I won't do it.

After the meal before she left to do her daily infirmary work, Gisela told me to have a short rest before doing any activity outside, if ever I had plans to get out. Miko went out to find her husband and the others while mother stayed with me and even cuddled with me on the couch for a few minutes before deciding she had to go out and talk with Gunter for something I didn't quite understand.

After an hour of lounging in my room, I decided I would go and observe the training of my soldiers then take a short walk before joining everyone for lunch. And so I changed into more proper clothing before heading out. I went to the field where my soldiers are and stood beside Seth, while pointing out some mistakes I observed that needed to be fixed in the succeeding training sessions. I didn't participate physically, but I made sure that the recruits could feel my presence by my intimidating gaze.

I took a short walk in the garden after standing for quite a while in the training grounds. But throughout my walk, I could feel someone's gaze on me. It's unsettling, but I tried to ignore it since that person isn't really bothering me. Maybe it's Gisela or my mother trying to see how I was doing.

I felt the weather getting warmer as the sun was getting higher, so I finally went inside in the shaded hallways and decided to leisurely make my way towards the dining hall. But before I could make a turn towards the inner hallways of the castle, someone was there on the corner blocking my way.

It was Yuuri.

He gently held my wrist and said,"Wolf, can we talk?"
