At Postwick, Rooki made his landing by the house with a battle yard and let the trainers get off. The Corviknight squawked that he saw someone familiar at the house next door and hopped the way. Hop and Gloria followed to find Sonia at the split path, one going to the Challenger's house, the other to the woods. Sonia heard the foot steps and turned. "Huh? Gloria, Hop, Rooki?"
The Corviknight perched on a fence as Sonia bopped herself in the head. "Ah, darn it! I completely forgot about the Championship match! What're you all doing here?"
Click!
A door was opened fast, Gloria's Mum sprinted out, making sure her daughter was safe and sound in home. "Thank goodness." She turned to the Professor. "Haven't you been watching the news at all? The tournament is off! The chairman saw to that, by sending the whole region into a state of havoc."
Sonia huhed as Gloria put her thumb backwards. "The stadiums are lit up by something and it's bringing about the Darkest Day!" Sonia eeked. "That was happening while I was researching about the Slumbering Weald?!"
Mum nodded. "With a big black storm or something raging over Hammerlocke Stadium." She turned to the kids. "You're worried that this is something that even the Unbeatable Champion, won't be able to take care of on his own?" Hop cringed. "Not if he gets lost along the way!" Gloria agreed with the concern. "He'd get lost, even if it is sticking out that obviously."
Sonia put her hands at her hips and tapped her foot in agreement. "So you're here to see if we can find something that will put a stop to the Darkest Day and save all of Galar?" Gloria nodded. "We need to find those wolves and see what they know about the Sword and Shield." Sonia stepped aside. "Then you need to get there asap. If you find that fog again, try not to get lost. A Corviknight has a keen eye that could help in a pinch." Gloria let out Brainy. "And an Orbeetle can make a glow in case it gets really thick. We'll be fine with the directions."
The Orbeetle jumped at the idea as Rooki chirped. (It's getting really bad out there, Brainy. We got to do what we can to stop this before it reaches home!) Brainy grunted and floated to the woods. (Then we gotta hurry!) Rooki and the trainers followed into the foggy Weald while Sonia brought out a note and took a read. "I got to hurry. There's just this one note I found, that came from outside of Galar." Gloria's Mum huhed. "Something else that isn't connecting with all the stories we've read about?"
In the Forest.
Hop and Gloria took heed at the fog, allowing their partners to lead the way. They went through the exact path they've gone, finding that long path in the woods. Rooki and Brainy saw a clear path and hurried, the Orbeetle waved to signal the way is safe. The most encountered were wild Orbeetles and Galarian Weezings that paid heed to keep away. The path became more akin to a maze, with Rooki separating the dead ends with items from the path ever deeper.
The band of four found themselves at a bridge and the fog worsen. Rooki perched and flapped his wings in a warning as Brainy turned to wave lights. Hop looked around and found it difficult to see anything more than a foot away. "What's with this fog? It's even worse than the first time we came here." Gloria and Rooki noticed the fog becoming thicker, even the birds eye couldn't see past the mist. He kept guard as Brainy lessened his psychic sense and realize something is amidst. The four noticed, across the bridge, two shadows approaching. The same wolf of cyan, with a magenta wolf with a shield like mane, having the same kind of scars as his counterpart. The wolves had a look at the partners and the trainers who had a determined look of a vow. There's a distinct fear for something going on in the world, blended in with hope at something working. The wolves took a sniff at the aroma of courage and gave a distinct howl. "Lrrrrrroard!" "Grrrrrield!"
Gloria ahaded. "Knew it, two wolves. Looking fit to wield a Sword and a Shield!" Hop smirked to his rival. "That means we're on the right trial to the shrine." The wolves gave a light bark and disappeared into the thickening fog, the mist receded, leaving a trial for them to follow. Hop took a step forward and called. "Hey! Where're you going? We need your help over here!"
A voice from behind, called to the four. "What in the world are you doing?!" The band turned to find Sonia had a sprint, Gloria apologized. "Sorry about that. Did you miss the wolves?" Sonia shook her head. "As soon as I got here, you four were staring into space. There was no one else."
Hop crossed his arms. "Wha?! Then were those just... illusions or something?" Gloria tapped an elbow to Hop. "Remember, they could be ghosts for all we know." Sonia tapped her feet at the bickering. "Listen! I dug up into some literature from other regions, and I finally found something! Mentions of the Sword Pokemon, Zacian. And the Shield Pokemon, called Zamazenta. The writings said that those two pokemon were born somewhere beyond the Slumbering Weald sometime, long, long ago."
Hop woahed. "Did they really? Ta, Sonia. Thanks for digging into it." Gloria and Brainy turned to the boy who admitted. "Even if it is just illusions or ghosts, we did manage to find that pokemon again. Maybe the sword and shield that those two use to carry are still here, too!" The band of five hurried across the bridge and felt the fog lessening, showing a shine much like the one from the tapestry. Worn down from time and overlooking a small pond that goes to a calm river. A glimmering, moon lit sky shined over the unkempt wonder.
Hop was in amazement. "Would you look at that, Gloria! That's something you don't see every day." Gloria agreed with sparkles in her eyes. "This place looks like it's right out of a legend." They made it to the shrine, where a rusted sword and shield laid dormant before a memorial. Sonia looked around and found two distinct stones in the center of the lake. "So this was what was beyond. I'll bet there's a sacred meaning that is waiting to be uncovered."
The children agreed and had a look at the worn, runic sword without an edge and the cracked shield. "And this has to be the Sword and the Shield those pokemon had. This was what they were protecting this whole time."
Gloria and Hop picked up the rusted Sword and Shield, giving them a closer look. The boy raised an eyebrow. "But would you look at the state of these things? Seems they might fall to pieces if you so much as look at it funny." Gloria cringed. "All that time here can do that. It might not be much to make this Darkest Day go away, but we got to take what we can get." She put it in distinct pocket of her bag while Sonia gave Hop a strap for the Shield.
The boy hoped. "Maybe they can bring us some good luck if we figure out this last piece of the puzzle. So it seems we're on our own if we want to go help Lee. This is all the help we've got!" The band turned to make their leave, for the clock is ticking.
At Hammerlocke.
Marnie and Piers worked together to best a giant row of Falinks. Having Grimmsnarl and Mandibuzz keep the damage at a minimum. While the foe shrank down, they heard the aftermath of a battle from with in the stadium. It was a moment of calm under the dark storm and Raihan stormed out. "That should be the last of them!" He raised a brow at Marnie. "Bede's chatting with that secretary lady. Are you sure, you two should be out here during this Dynanightmare?"
The girl nodded and heard the sound of a bird arriving, she smirked. "Our help arrived just in time!" The band turned to find Gloria and Hop stepping off Rooki, the Corviknight was let in the ball as Marnie waved. "Gloria, Hop, did you find somethin' that's gonna save us 'ere?"
Hop cringed. "Uh..." Gloria jingled her bag carefully. "It's the final clue we have to discovering the real heroes of the legend. But for now, we're going in blind."
She looked around at the damages as Raihan pointed his thumb to the Stadium gate. "If you're looking for Leon, we got word that he made it to the Power Plant." He had a head ache. "What is the chairman thinking? Pouring energy from the Darkest Day would somehow save Galar's future." Hop cringed. "Raihan, that crisis or what ever's a lot sooner than you think! But this is just going to speed up our doom!"
Rumble!
In a sudden, a green apple grew to the west and opened up to show a Flapple that was frantic about his height. At the east, was a Appletun with a green apple for a hat, wailing in a complete panic. Marnie cringed. "Ah bugger!" Piers flipped his stand and looked towards the approaching Appletun. "The way to the Stadium's all clear, go help the Champion out!" The duo nodded and hurried, Gloria waved to Marnie. "Keep your eye open out 'ere! We'll make it out of this one!"
They reached to the Stadium hall, where Oleana was pacing in a panic and Bede was squinting his eyes at a grudge. The rival noticed someone was coming and turned, noticing Hop having a rusted shield strapped to his back. "Hmph! I suppose you found something that was worth your time?"
Hop cringed and was about to argue as Oleana approached in a panic. "Gym Challengers! You got to help me!" She took back her wording. "I mean, please help us! My Pokemon suddenly Dynamaxed and ran amok in the Stadium. Raihan... I mean, Mr. Raihan, was able to subdue them, but..." She tried to collect her thoughts. "If more pokemon Dynamax and go on a rampage again, it could happen in the underground plant and cause it all to collapse! Mr. Rose is down there right now!"
Gloria cringed. "It isn't just wild pokemon now, it's any pokemon that power could touch! If a lick gets to anyone down there, kablooey!" Oleana agreed. "This is selfish of me, but please." She pressed her hands in a beg. "We need your assistance! You need to go into the Underground plant and stop Mr. Rose's plan!"
Bede crossed his arms. "And what was that plan? The real one?" Oleana gritted her teeth in defeat. "Mr. Rose used the Wishing Stars to awaken a pokemon known as Eternatus. Apparently, the energy emitted from its body is what causes Dynamaxing."
Bede ohed. "And thus, give energy? Pray tell. It's gone on a rampage the instant it woke up and is giving us more for that future than we can handle? Why wasn't I informed on this?" Gloria eeked as Hop readied to pry open the elevator. "At this rate, every single pokemon in Galar is going to Dynamax and go berzerk!"
Oleana agreed and went to press an input, allowing access. "This will help you reach Mr. Rose. We'll keep the Dynamax out break from toppling the Stadium. Good luck." The elevator opened and the two went in, Bede raised a hand and followed in with them. "Don't go rushing in by yourselves. I wish to see this madness with my own eyes."
Hop gritted his teeth in silence as Gloria allowed the rival to come along. "What ever this Eternatus is, it's mad! We can go for all the help we can get!" Bede nodded in agreement and pressed a few buttons to make the elevator go down.
Down into a state of the art, nearly alien power plant. Hop sprinted the down the ramp in the lead, towards a split path. One to an elevator ahead and one towards their right, to a wide, round chamber of broken cylinders and a giant, round cocoon that burst open. Hop noticed Rose, looking at the cocoon in bewilderment. The boy looked around and asked. "What's all this? Where's Lee?"
Rose snapped out of his trance and turned to find a trio of children who shouldn't be delving down into an apocalyptic deal, keeping a calm frown at the matter. "And what are you planning on doing? Gym Challengers?"
Gloria looked around at the aftermath of pure chaos and shook her head. "I don't even know anymore. But we need to shut this Darkest Day down! Now!" Rose raised an eyebrow. "Pardon? There's nothing to shut down anymore. We've already brought about the Darkest Day-" He corrected himself. "or should I say, the ultimate Pokemon- Eternatus." He saw the children were even more confused and even terrified by what was brought upon the world. He took a deep breath and raised a hand. "Must I explain myself? From your perspective, I suppose it must seem that I am doing something terrible. I don't expect you to understand. But I must provide the Galar region with limitless energy to ensure everlasting prosperity. It is my purpose, my duty, my destiny!"
The children looked to each other and gave determined frowns. Gloria guessed. "I'll bet if we can stop Eternatus, we'll stop the Darkest Day. It's just a big scary pokemon, that's all!" Hop agreed with that. "And I'll bet that Lee's on it's trial somewhere up that elevator!"
Bede got over his shock, took a step forward and asked. "So those Wishing Stars you've wanted gathered, they were meant for awakening Eternatus?" Rose nodded. ""Surely you've heard of the red light that caused a ruckus around Hammerlocke. That was all part of our experiments to awaken Eternatus! You three must understand." He brought out an ultra ball from his pocket. "I can't let you interfere with my plan to protect the future of Galar!" Bede pulled out a ball of his own and turned to his comrades with a pout. "Well, don't just stand there. Get up this tower and bail us out of this!" He readied to face the chairman that brought him up. "I'll keep the Chairman from following you."
The duo nodded and took off to the elevator, Bede had a wide stare of terror for the chairman. "With all due respect. This was going to go wrong! Why haven't you told me about this?" Rose looked to his ball, conflicted in mind. "If we knew for certain, that we could control Eternatus, I might have spoken more. I'm rather glad that you weren't here to see the worst of it when he broken free." That was a relief. "You have great potential, Bede. You act on what your heart wants, even if it needs a direction."
Bede smirked and admitted. "I did give that girl quite a match before all this started. But I think we're done talking?" Rose confessed and tossed the ball to let out an chivalrous Escavalier. "I've caused enough of this ramble."
Bede bobbed his head in confidence and sent out his trusty, perky, Azumarril, if there's any pokemon who can deal a wallop at this moment, it's her. "This should be simple! Begin with a belly drum and we will let loose!" The Azumarril wanted to know where she's even at and gave the tune, Rose cringed as he watched the rabbit use up a sitrus berry. "I know where this is going! Sir Cavalier, iron head!"
The beetle in knight armor grunted and ram the Azumarril with his helmet, Bede snapped his finger and pointed. "Counter with the liquid blade!" The Azumarril rolled to the left, turned her right paw into a water blade and slashed through the bug a firm knock out. Rose called his partner back and confessed. "You're pretty tough. Even with your disadvantage."
He sent out a Ferrothorn that gave a cheerful hiss and flung his vines to perch his three appendages. "Mr. Burly, we need to deal with this Azumarril!" The grass type looked to Rose and gave a promise. (I'm on it!) He looked to the stranger. (No water type, nor fairy, is going to crack this shell!) Bede widden his eyes and brushed his hair. "I'm afraid you're concerns are still warranted. Smash through with super power!"
The Azumarril grunted, pressed her hands together and dashed at the grass type that is completely surprised. (Oh, no, no, no, no!) BASH! The Ferrothorn was sent flying to Rose and landed on his back to pass out. The chairman's quite surprised. "Oh my!" He switched to a Klinklang that beeped in clock work. "This calls for an extra measure, Gearison. Use that wild charge!" The Klinklang sparkled into a strange mechanism of multiple electrical parts and rammed the Azummaril for a knock out.
Bede had a sweat, he has to contend with a disadvantage that is looming over his head. He switched for his Mawile. "No matter, we simply need to be rid of this bundle of gears."
The Mawile entered and gave an intimidating roar. "Bring about fake tears, then we can knock this opponent out!" The Mawile smirked, was grounded in gears and begun to cry in crocodile tears, causing the machine to lower his guard in pity before grinding more and spitting the deceiver out. Bede switched to his stalwart Gardevoir. "Now, apply shadow ball and we'll have this opponent gone!"
The Gardevoir nodded and unleashed a fast shadow ball, the Klinklang whirled his gears and threw gears that were jumped over. POW! The second shadow ball made it's mark and knocked the foe out. Bede took a deep breath at a fight that is even as Rose switched with a strange, child like excitement. "Looks like we finally got ourselves at an even stand, Bede."
Fling! Out came an Excadrill with a whistle and an eagerness to dig, only to realize he isn't in any mines. Rose pointed onward. "We haven't had a battle like this in a long time, Mr. Escavater! Let's show this youngster that we still got it!"
The mole nodded and faced the Gardevoir with valiant determination that the embrace pokemon couldn't help but admire. Bede felt it was mutual. "Couldn't let that inner child go, can you? This might sting a little, Gardevoir." The embrace pokemon understood and smiled. (But this will allow us to prevail!) She fired a shadow ball as the Excadrill drilled through it, took some damage and was given the order. "Go for an iron head!" Pow! The Gardevoir was knocked to her back in a daze and was switched for the vain Galarian Rapidash, Bede smirked. "Perfect! Now use drill run to finish this mole off!" The Rapidash galloped, used her power to make a rippling drill out of her horn and ram the Exadrill for a critical blow, sending him rolling towards the cocoon and passing out. Rose found himself nearing a corner. He switched and sent out a Perrserker that flipped to her knees and looked up to the foes. "We'll have to try more Járn!"
The Perrserker looked up to the Rapidash and laughed heartily before extending her claws and lowering her eye lids to show an unhinged war face. Bede wasn't too concerned. "Again!" Drill! The Rapidash rushed at the feline that extended his claws into swords and braced in a cross. She shined the coin on his forehead and rammed the Rapidash back, the fairy type held on with a sash and shook off the blow before rushing for another drill run. Rose asked. "Another iron head would be over doing it, go for a throat chop!"
The Perrserker understood, kicked the Rapidash back, shifted her nails into paws and gave a blow to the horses throat, causing her to cough and fall over in a wailing neigh. Bede cringed, called his partner and gave the ball a petting. He switched to his perky Sylveon. "Now finish this Perrserker off with a hyper voice!"
The Sylveon nodded, gave a distinct shine of a pixie and let loose a shout that sent the Perrserker on a roll, she passed out and left Rose to a corner. "I'm down to my last pokemon? Hmm, this isn't looking too good." He brought out his final pokemon. "Ms. Copper, I'll need your help!"
Pop! Crash!
Out of the ball came a Copperajah that noticed Bede was opposing her trainer. She tapped her trunk and blew out her astonishment. (What are you trying to do this time?)
Rose aimed a ball at the elephant and apologized to the boy and his Sylveon. "You know fully, that this next move is going to hit hard enough to leave you speechless." He called the Copperajah back and powered it up with dynamax energy while the boy voiced a plan. "Like we've prepared, raise up a reflect and this match will be ours!" The Sylveon set up a reflective barrier as the Copperajah's ball enlarged, Rose turned and tossed the ball to the back of the arena. Pop!
Out of the ball came a Copperajah that resembles an upward standing wall, her trunk's white markings resembles bones and she gave a mighty roar as Rose hoped. "All right then, hopefully this Steelsurge will turn things around for me!"
The Copperajah pressed her trunk and caused steel spikes to erupt, rushing at the Sylveon and closed her eyes and was sent hurling behind Bede. Spikes scattered across and the boy switched to his final partner. ""My Pokémon and I have risen from the ashes. I'll grant you a brief glimpse at how amazing we've become." Pop! Out came a Hatterene that took the prick from the spikes. She looked up to the Copperajah, sensed her trainers determination and gave a glow of fire in her eyes. Bede called his partner into a ball and charged her up. "My dear Hatterene, it's time to Gigantamax!" The ball enlarged and he tossed it back, unleashing the G Maxed witch that raised up her back tentacles. The Copperajah unleashed another steel surge that was absorbed by the barrier. Bede called. "Begin with Smite and unleash your flare!"
The Hatterene unleashed a mighty flash that dazed the Copperajah and left her in a daze, she tripped in her confusion and gave the fairy time to fire a blast of fire that brought about heat.
The Copperajah shrank down to her normal form and shook off the confusion as Rose is impressed. "We're not giving up just yet. Follow with iron head and see how that goes!" The Copperajah grunted and rammed at the barrier, shoving the Hatterene and inch as she unleashed an inferno that sent the elephant flying to her back.
K.O.
Rose called her back, closed his eyes in defeat and gave a smile before giving the boy a round of applause. "I'd forgotten how great Pokémon battles are! It's been so long since I battled, that sure was satisfying."
Paternal pride emit from his soul. "Most impressive, Bede. I knew, the moment I saw that look, that I wasn't going to expect less from you." He sighed in gloom of the other ordeal. "It looks like it makes two who've ruined this years event, in a way."
Bede had his Hatterene power down and called her back. "I'd might have planned on retiring altogether, had it not been for Gloria and the others convincing me to renew myself. Now, would you please, tell me what this is really about?" Rose raise a hand. "Alright, alright. Let's begin with the Copperajah that's still in this room. I've lied about our energy crisis and when it will be a concern for us all. Instead of a thousand years, it will rear itself by the time you would be a full grown adult. In order to solve the energy issue as soon as possible, we've awakened Eternatus. But as you see, we couldn't control it and it could hasten Galar's downfall to this current generation. The Champion came to aid me, even at the cost of abandoning the match." He was amused at how that turned out. Indeed, just like a knight in shining armor coming to rescue a princess from a dragon!"
He stopped himself from rambling on. "I do tend to ramble on, I know. I love to make speeches. But I think I can stop talking now, you don't need to listen to all of that anymore." He looked on to where Bede came from. "The Champion and those two Challengers should have captured Eternatus by now. If your curious, follow them through the lift."
Bede took a deep breath and exhaled. "Unless they somehow need me. Then I should follow them regardless if I wish to see them gloat." He gave a parting nod and turned to take off, leaving Rose to stare into space at the consequences that would ensue.
During that match.
Gloria and Hop were at the farthest the lift could take them, at the peak of the tower, overlooking most of Galar. The duo hurried up a red glowing set of stars and found Leon and Charizard at the peak of a match against a creature that could very well be Eternatus. A skeletal dark violet dragon with highlights of red giving off a glow. It had tiny hind legs that allowed it to float mid air, a pair of trident like claws, his face is covered with a red, glassy like membrane that was decorated with a five spine crest. Three sets of white eyes looked down at the puny mortals and at the torso, is a rib cage making up of the violet bones and red membrane, in the center is a swirling mass of energy. It's core. Sticking out of it's shoulders is two spinal like wings. Something beyond the limits of the world and boggling to look at.
Leon and Charizard shared a stare down with the dragon before hearing foot steps. Leon turned, rather relaxed over something he managed to handle in time. "You came to help me, in spite of the danger? Thanks, Hop. And you, Gloria. You two really have grown tremendously." He went back to facing Eternatus and brought out a ball. "There's no need for you kids to worry. This thing might have kept us from Dynamaxing, but we had a champion time all the same! Charizard and the rest of my champion team members have really worn Eternatus down." He readied a throw as Eternatus breathed out fumes of spite. "Now if I can catch it in a poke ball, we should be able to get this madness under control. Then everything will be back to normal." Hop cheered for him. "And we can get back to watching the biggest match in history!" Leon smiled wide at that hope. "So watch this! It's going to be a real champion catch!"
Eternatus took the idea of being bound as an insult and let loose a deep, high pitch roar as Leon tossed the ball. It tapped it on the forehead, dragged him in and fell to the ground in a bonk.
The ball was taking it's time to even shake, Leon felt his heart skipping a beat and he signaled to the children to stay back while Charizard prepared for the worst. The ball begun to glow with the dynamax power and lit it's button. Shake! Leon opened his mouth in peril and looked to his Chairzard, who shielded the children from an explosion that sent the Champion flying to his back. "Leon!" "Lee!"
Charizard fared better in enduring the blow and passed out in a collapse, leaving the children to face a rampaging Eternatus that was done playing around. Gloria whispered to her rival. "Hop, I got this! Keep Leon and Charizard shielded while me and my team rough Eternatus up."
The brother nodded and dragged Charizard away from danger as Gloria brought out a ball and let out Fubear. The Urshifu looked up to the dragon, braced herself and gave a courageous flex. (So long as I stand, you will not get past my partners armor!) Eternatus tilted his head, floated backwards and gave a laugh. (You call that armor?! There's nothing protecting this wyrmling from me, once I'm through with you!) It reared it's head high. (But go ahead, do your worst!)
Fubear growled in sync to Gloria. "Come on, we got to ram Eternatus into a ball and get back to our tournament! A good enough punch is all it will take!" The Urshifu agreed and rolled to get at Eternatus's face, the dragon floated backwards, powered up his core and unleashed a cannon's worth of dynamax energy at the Urshifu, sending her flying. The wushu kept herself conscious, landed on a rail and glowed a black aura. "With one strike from the wicked fists, the dragon will learn that he isn't so tough!" That chant perked curiosity into the dragon as the wushu made a sprint and disappeared. POW! Fubear warped to Eternatus, with a critical punch in his face, sending him to the edge. Eternatus shoved the bear forward and glowed his maw in fire. Gloria gave a pose akin to a dojo trainee. "Sucker punch!"
The Urshifu flipped to Eternatus's left cheek and kicked him to a right shove. The dragon fell to his side in a knock out and the Urshifu back flipped. She half turned her head and gave Gloria a thumbs up, unaware of something that made the girl look more horrified than calm. Fubear turned her head forward and saw Eternatus's glow was getting stronger. Pew! Not long at the notice, Eternatus shot himself up to the sky. With a purple trial, akin to a Max Raid den, making it's mark.
Burst!
Eternatus let loose a burst of purple power that turned into a maelstrom. Parts of the tower broke apart and were drawn to the wind as images of note worthy cities rippled. Hop hurried by Gloria, who was looking at the image descending down from the sky. Fubear looked up at a coiled up serpent, protecting a giant core of power. It's head, resembles a giant claw, each finger having something of an eye. The palm had a five pointed pattern of violet scales and the palm looked a kin to a giant white eye.
The Urshifu eeked and braced for a more intense fight, Hop cringed at the fact a normally courageous pokemon is scared out of her wit and a girl who is staring petrified. "Oh bother, that's a good sign!" Fling! "Come on, Blastoise, they're not fighting this fancy hand alone!" Pop! Out of the ball came the bubbly Blastoise that looked up to the eldritch entity that opened the eyes at the point of his fingers. Even the Blastoise was speechless before the power. Eternatus hissed proudly. (Nice punch, but I was only getting started!)
Gloria snapped out of her terror and used a full restore. "Fubear, snap out of it! That combo messed him up good and we can do it again!" The medicine remedied the blast Fubear endured earlier and she clenched her fist. Gloria ordered. "Wicked blow!" The Urshifu attempted to channel her aura and found herself standing still. Hop cringed. "Blastoise, chill Eternatus out with an ice beam!" The Blastoise tried to open his shoulder cannons and found his body unable to do anything. Eternatus laughed mellowly. (Your mind is not in sync with your body it seems! I'll give you a minute to realize the predicament it's in.) Gloria went for her pocket and thought quick. "Let's try this!" Fling. "Come on Shelly!" Pop! Out came a Slowbro that is in a complete blank. "Alright, don't think about it, use icy wind on big and scary. The Slowbro looked up, tried to aim her Shellder and was feeling her arm, unable to squeeze anything, the Shellder turned her eyes back, cringed and bit hard. The Slowbro focused and yelped. (This is way too much power!) Gloria snapped her fingers. "Drat, none of our pokemon can use any moves!"
Eternatus begun storing energy. (One of you at least gets it. You got forty seconds to make the wiser choice.) That is something Fubear, Shelly and Blastoise refuse to do. Hop gasped. "Oi, we picked up the Sword and Shield in the Slumbering Weald for a reason. If this thing is the cause of the Darkest Day." Gloria gasped and looked to Hop like she would have kissed him right there. "Hop, you're a genius!"
Hop took the shield on his back and raised it up. "Gloria, use that Sword! It might be old and rusted, but there's got to be some use to it!" Gloria pulled the sword out and raised it to the air. "Leave it to me!"
In the Slumbering Wealds Shrine.
The stones in the center of the lake, decorated in flowers, felt a blow of wind. Something is calling in a prayer. Glitter! The stones glowed in mystical power and let loose a burst. The wolves of cyan and magenta, were freed from their slumber. They looked up to a spreading dark sky, looked to each other in determination and nodded. Pew! Pew! They spirited away as two pillars of light.
Down at Hammerlocke Stadium.
Marnie, Piers, Raihan and even Oleana, were having a trifling ordeal against the next outbreak of Dynamaxed pokemon. The dragon trainer and secretary were distracted by a giant wall of a serpentine rune, slithering out black tendrils while an ape, resembling a snowman, ignited in flames and turned into something more like the statue. It lunged at the Scrafty duo and shrieked before an elder shouted. "River flowing strike!"
Suddenly, an Urshifu rushed at the giant and delivered three critical blows, resembling the flow of rapids. The Darmanitan was knocked to his side and saw an elderly man in green, along with a pink haired woman in a white coat and a dashing blonde man in a top hat. Marnie perked in hope. Master Mustard, Klara, Avery! It's awfully nice of you all to pay a visit!"
Mustard laughed and posed as a dojo master. "My show got interrupted and I had a hunch those geysers started because of something going on in this tower!" Klara and Avery sent out Slowbro and Slowking, the pop star asked. "So, anyone knows what that something is?" The psychic didn't need his power to guess by the storm of debris circling around the tower. "It's a beast or something that is looming at the top of the tower! Take a guess, who's up there!"
This wasn't the time and place for a bickering, Marnie noticed a beam of cyan and a beam of magenta rushing to the top of the tower in a blink of an eye. "Looks like they could use an extra hand!" She cheered, called her Scrafty back and ready to take off to the stadium. "You all got this one!" Piers gasped and raised his voice. "It's wack up there. Sis!"
The sister nodded in agreement. "And if Gloria and Hop get smushed, that wack is going to be comin' down here to smack the lot of us into the ground." Piers ohed. "Good point!" Mustard faced an approaching Weavile and advised. "Once you take a look at the danger, you'll know what to do." Marnie gave a yup and hurried to the hall way, taking the elevator down and nearly bumping into Bede, who finished with a battle of his own. The two pressed a button for an elevator that was surprisingly quick to descend. They stepped in and pressed the button going up, as the door closed, Marnie took the time to ask. "It's a big ol' mess out there. Think we got what it takes to become some big heroes?"
Bede crossed his arms more determined. "Hmph! I have my own reasons to follow those two up there. But you're not far from the truth." The elevator ascended and the girl gave a charming smile. At the least, they'll help set things right for the Galar region.
Up above.
Eternatus didn't quite notice what the Sword and Shield have done and continued to count down. (You have a quarter of a minute and you're still standing there! You do-) He let loose a growl. (not have self preservation in your genes? Is that-) Gloria, Hop and their partners noticed two distinct stars coming their way. Woosh!
The two wolves from the forest, arrived just in time and stood by the band. The Cyan Wolf by Gloria and the Magenta Wolf by Hop. The two faced the entity that blinked with his five eyes, remembered them and roared. (You!).
Gloria and Hop felt the Sword and Shield leave their fingers in a matching glow to the loves. The ancient relics hovered to the air and rushed to one another, turning into a piece very reminiscent to a logo on a t shirt. A blue sword center of a red shield. It crackled in mystical power fired a beam for each dog, enveloping them in energy that caused a pressure to lessen from the three pokemon. The orbs of energy hovered in the air, burst and let the two wolves roll into battle.
Zacian and Zamazentha took on an appearance befitting of heroes. Both having a distinct yellow crown and a heavenly glow. Zacian had yellow armored wings sticking out of her back and held a sword with her teeth, while Zamazentha's mane had a multi layered, yellow shield. The wolves howled to let loose an energy that snapped the pokemon out of their terror. Gloria and Hop used that as a chance to call their pokemon back. "Acer, we can fight back now!"
"Rooki, let's bring this monster down!"
Eternatus caused the arena to rumble and let loose a bestial roar upon the dogs. Zacian howled as Zamazentha conjured a reflective barrier. Acer and Rooki felt the vigor and protection as Eternatus thought of something and shot ooze at Acer, using it as a way to empower himself. The trainers ordered. "Acer, kick some scorching sand back at 'em!" "Rooki, make a light screen!"
The Cinderace nodded and kicked burning sand at the beast as Rooki flapped his wings to conjure a second barrier. Zacian caused her sword to enlarge in power as Zamazentha caused his mane to come together as a shield, working together to bash the dragon for explosive damage. Eternatus cared not and set his focus on Zamazentha, it used it's middle finger to blast out a flare that heated up the sky. Acer used the boost form howl to kick a burning pyro ball as Rooki flew at Eternatus in a duel winged beat.
Eternatus swatted the two away and let loose a wyrm wind upon the Zamazentha, unleashing a power that dimmed the attack aura. Even though Zacian kept her glow. The wolves struck as one again as the Cinderace let loose a blaze kick and Corviknight an iron head. Hop was realizing Eternatus could power the physical attack stat even more and called Rooki back. "Good work, let's give someone else a chance to do the real damage!"
Gloria realize what that idea meant, Eternatus relaxed and fired a flare at Zamazentha, knocking him towards Leon and leaving him laying. Zacian gasped to her fallen brother and glared at Eternatus before slashing another behemoth blade. Gloria cringed. "Oh boy! Acer, u-turn out of there! Brainy ought to handle the rest!"
The Cinderace nodded and dashed at the Eternatus for a light kick before back flipping to his trainer's ball. Gloria sent out an Orbeetle that is astonished by the monstrosity. (What in all that is science is this?!) Eternatus floated back and balked. (I'll show you what!) He let loose a max flare to send Zacian rolling back and took another slash. Hop called determined. "Raichu, let loose an electric terrain!" Gloria gave the same aura. "Brainy, blast Eternatus with a psychic blast!" The Raichu let loose electricity as the Orbeetle unleashed his power, the Raichu used the speed to conjure psychic rocks that pelted the dragon. Eternatus shook the damage and unleashed a flare at the fallen wolf, knocking her out and giving him freedom to roar while the barriers faded away.
"Come on Grimsnarl, this thing hasn't won yet!" "Hatterene, be a darling and help these two!"
Fling!
A Grimmsnarl and Hatterene entered the battle. Gloria and Hop turned, finding Marnie and Bede had caught up. The trainers and their partners stood confident as Eternatus was done playing with them and drew in the dynamaxed power as a way to heal himself of the damage he sustained and the burn. Marnie barked. "Grimmsnarl, set up a light screen and give us time to set up!"
Hop smiled to an idea. "Now that the burn is gone, we can stun him good! Raichu, go for thunder wave now that you got the speed!" The Raichu zipped across the surge and flipped a thunder wave at the entity, causing it to stiffen and give Gloria time to order. "Set up reflect, nothing Eternatus has will break through this!"
The duel screens were set up and Eternatus balked. (Would it?!) He unleashed ooze upon the Grimmsnarl for super effective damage as Bede snapped his fingers. "Mystical fire, please!" The Hatterene aimed a fire ball at the dragon and caused his glow to dampen. The Raichu and Orbeetle took the chance to combine psyshock and psychic into a blast that shoved Eternatus's head towards his spiraled body and left him vulnerable. Marnie pointed. "Keep breaking that spirit, Grimmsnarl!" The troll laughed, rolled under the hand and flipped a collection of hairs that sparkled, breaking that glow to a dim. Eternatus shifted towards the Raichu and let loose a wyrm wind as the Hatterene applied one more burst of fire.
The dragon's damage input is low enough to be managed. Raichu and Brainy let loose their combo yet again as Grimmsnarl applied another spirit break, Eternatus couldn't move from the paralysis and Bede found the chance. "Now for psychic!" Blast!
Eternatus was in a daze and the trainers heard armor clanking. Brainy and Raichu turned to find Zacian and Zamazentha, burnt but very able. The wolves shook off the damage and barked. (Thank you for shielding us at the moment.) (And striking this fiend in place! May we?)
Raichu and Briany nodded and floated out of the way, letting the wolves stand by Hop and Gloria. The boy had the shield by his side as Gloria felt she was drawing upon a sword. Gloria used her dex to see what moves are available. "Zacian," Hop could guess. "Zamazentha!" "Use howl!"
The wolves howled as one as Eternatus fired an ooze at Hatterene in a desperate attempt to power himself up. (You will not bind me again! I won't allow it!) The damage, while super effective, was nominal. The fairy types kept powering the special attack down as Gloria pointed. "Now, bring that behemoth sword and let him have it!" Hop cheered. "Set up that Behemoth Bash and bring down this giant together!"
The wolves understood, Zacian enlarged her sword as Zamazentha set up his shield like man. The wolves sprinted at the crippled Eternatus and caused an chain reaction of explosions. Energy crackled in a burst and Eternatus growled. (No... not yet!) The trainers know what that explosion meant, Hop cheered to his rival. "This is it! Hurry, Gloria! Try to catch Eternatus now!"
Marnie and Bede gave Gloria the honor and watched the girl reach for her bag. "Let's see, just so I don't mistake his ball for any other." She gasped and brought out a grey ball with blue baubles. "A ha!" She aimed the heavy ball at Eternatus. "A special pokemon ought to be in a special ball after all!"
She channeled energy from her band and fed it to the orb. It enlarged and Gloria held it with both hands. "Consider yourself-" Fling! "caught!" The ball flew before the entity that sneered at the dwarfed size. (This again!?) The ball opened a glitter of power and let loose a mighty suction, Eternatus realizes this might turn out different. (No, no, no!) He recoiled to try and break away. (I won't be bound again! I will not be bound again!) He was dragged out of his orbit and into to the ball. (No-) Energy consumed him. (No!) And brought him to the confines of the ball that closed. (Noooooooooo-)
The ball snapped shut and cut out the screaming before falling back to the tower. Shake...shake...shake... Pew! Shrink!
The ball glimmered and shrank back to it's original size. In a long pause, the ball clicked. The floating debris fell and the dark cloud begun to fade. Hop leaped in a cheer. "Woo hoo! We did it!" Marnie nodded and pat Gloria on the shoulder. "And that's lookin' to be a fine catch!"
That Gloria agreed with as she went to pick up her prize and turn in a jump, waving it towards her friends and laughing in triumph. Even Bede couldn't help but smirk and give a round of applause. Glimmer!
The band looked up to the sky and saw a cluster of wishing stars scattering to the far reaches of the region. Zacian and Zamazentha powered down in the aftermath, the shield returned to Hop's feet as Zacian gently placed the sword by Gloria. The band looked to the wolves that were making sure the sky was clearing and gave a combined howl, right as the purple broke apart to reveal a morning light. The wolves leaped to the sunset of a fresh new day.
