After gathering herself, Talia pulled away from Cindy before turning to the two women with a weak smile as she said," I'm sorry for this Sarah."
The blonde woman looked at her with a small smile as she replied," It's alright, Talia. I did ask you to come over for lunch." Her eyes glanced over at the living room as she continued," If anything I am the one that should be sorry. I forgot to mention the others. This is Geneva Rex. I'm sure you saw her niece Aelia Rex in the living room with her partner, Issac."
Talia thought back to the people in the living room before she remembered the man that answered the door. However, just as she went to ask there was the sound of someone entering the kitchen, looking over she noticed that it was Will holding little Annabelle upon his hip as he smiled sheepishly as he spoke,
"Sorry sweetheart, she woke up from her nap."
Talia watched as Sarah let out a soft sigh as she walked over to Will and took the little girl from him. Talia watched the couple, a small part of her was envious of their relationship, not wanting to think about the past, she quietly asked," Is lunch almost done?"
This caused Sarah to return her attention to her as she replied," Yes. Ah, can you hold Annabelle?"
Talia smiled as she reached out taking the small child as Sarah and Geneva began to finish up lunch. Soon everyone was around the table, and eating except for the three other men that were there. Talia listened to the soft conversation between everyone as soon as she was done eating, she leaned back against the chair, and allowed herself a moment. It was then that she heard Geneva ask her with curiosity,
"How far along are you, Talia?"
Talia looked toward her as she replied back with a smile," I am six months along."
Geneva gave her a smile, as she replied back, "Three months to go until the little one comes along. Do you know the gender?"
Talia let out a soft laugh as she corrected Geneva," I am having twins Mrs. Rex. They are both girls."
"My you'll have your hands full. I trust your husband will help you," Geneva replied with a chuckle.
At the mention of a husband, she clenched her hands together in her lap as she replied weakly," I am afraid I don't have a husband or partner. So I'll be raising these little girls by myself." She glanced at the clock, before standing up from the table as she turned to Sarah, giving her a smile," I'm sorry to eat and run. However, I do need to head to the mall to get more baby stuff."
Sarah gave Talia a slightly startled look before she quickly said," Talia, I thought you weren't going shopping until later. Especially, since you haven't been feeling well."
Talia simply smiled as she replied," I just remembered that I needed some more stuff and it's best to get that now."
"Talia, someone can go with you. I really don't feel comfortable letting you drive that piece of sh- crap of a truck," William said as he began to rise from his seat, however, Taila quickly cut in," No need. Thank you though. Please don't stop eating on my account. Thank you again Sarah for the delightful meal. It was nice meeting you all."
Talia gave them a smile as she quickly let herself out, still feeling out of place within Sarah and William's home, upon closing the door behind her began to walk back over to her home. As she got to her front door, she reached for her black shoulder back, however, her hand hit the air causing her to begin to panic, slightly.
"I believe you left this behind, Ms. Thorin," A deep, serene voice said from behind her.
Talia turned to see Orion was standing there with her bag in his hand, she let out a soft sigh of relief as she reached up and took it from him. She smiled softly at him as she said," Thank you, Mr. Orion. I appreciate you bringing this to me."
"Please, just call me Orion," he replied with a soft smile.
"I'll call Orion if only you call me Talia. I really do appreciate you bringing my bag to me," Talia responded as she glanced over at her old beat up Ford pickup, when she looked back at Orion she noticed that he was looking at her truck.
She could feel shame slowly engulf her, as she weakly smiled as she said," It's not in the best shape, but it gets me to where I need to go."
When she spoke it seemed to snap him out of his thoughts as he turned toward her once again as he said softly, calmly," I am sure it can, however, I am inclined to agree with Captain Lennox. That vehicle does not look to be a completely reliable one," He glanced over at the eighteen wheeler that was parked nearby as he continued," I can give you a ride in my vehicle. It would put Captain Lennox at ease to know you are safe."
Talia let out a soft sigh as she replied," I appreciate it, however, I should be okay. I don't want to burden you."
"You are no burden, please allow me to assist you," Orion responded with a comforting tone.
Talia couldn't help it as she rubbed her belly as she relented," Very well. If it will put you and Will at ease."
Talia did her best to not allow the heat to rush to her cheeks as the man in front her, offered his arm out to her allowing her to link her arm with his. Despite her reservations she linked her arm with his arm and allowed him to lead her towards his large blue and red eighteen wheeler. As they arrived at the passenger side door, Orion opened it up, while shifting his arm to gently grip her hand and help her into the truck. Once she was inside Orion closed the door, allowing Talia a moment of reprieve before she put on her seat belt being mindful of the life in her stomach.
Talia shifted in her seat not used to being in another person's vehicle, before she could really lookaround the large truck, she heard the drivers side door open. Talia watched as Orion got into the semi with her and buckled up, turning to her with a small smile as he gently asked,
"May I inquire as to where our destination is?"
"Ah I was going to head the mall that's a near the center of town. I just needed to pick up so more items for my babies," Talia replied with a meek smile as she continued to speak weakly, "I hope that's not too much of an inconvenience."
"It is no inconvenience. Let us be off," Orion replied as he turned to face forward, turning on the truck and soon they were on the road toward the mall. As they drove in silence Talia began to rub her pregnancy bump as did her best not to allow her mind to wonder into the past lest they seeped into her dreams when she slept. Hopefully, the trip to the mall would be a good trip and nothing would go wrong. Talia mentally prayed, but did not know that her prayers wouldn't be answered.
