"Toxapex's Challenge"

"Kub, fu!" Kubfu runs across a beach, before it jumps, punches the air, then lands. "Kub, fu!" It then runs ahead again.

Several feet behind, Victor and Gloria are trying to catch up.

"You know…" Gloria tries to catch her breath. "If Kubfu's not careful, it gonna wear itself out before we even reach the Tower."

"Yeah…" Victor says, before he holds a hand to the side of his mouth. "Kubfu, Gloria's right. You could tire yourself out."

"Kub, fu!" Kubfu punches ahead, before it turns and looks at its Trainer. "Kub, fu."

"Perhaps we should set up camp and have lunch," Gloria suggests, with a hand on her waist.

"Good idea," Victor agrees.

Unknown to the group, something is spying on them from behind some large rocks.

Later on, Victor, Gloria, and all their Pokémon are cleaning up after lunch, with Gloria and Inteleon gathering the plates.

"Inteleon, how about we wash these in the ocean," Gloria says.

"Intel," Inteleon nods its head.

"Bulba," Bulbasaur uses its vines to hand some more plates to Gloria.

"Thanks, Bulbasaur," Gloria says, with a smile.

"Bulba," Bulbasaur says, before it turns and uses its vines to grab the tablecloth off the foldable table.

"Cinder," Cinderace says, as it starts to help Bulbasaur fold the tablecloth.

Gloria and Inteleon are starting to walk away, carrying stacks of plates.

"Intel, Intel," Inteleon says to Gloria.

Gloria smiles, "I think Water Pulse is a little too strong to clean the plates.

"Intel," Inteleon says, with a sweatdrop.

Victor is folding the table, when he notices Kubfu looking off in the distance.

"Don't worry, Kubfu," Victor says, with his Pokémon turns to face him. "We'll be at the Tower soon enough."

"Kub, fu," Kubfu responds.

A loud scream is suddenly heard, with everyone looking in the direction of it.

"That's Gloria?!" Victor realizes, before he and all the Pokémon start running in the direction of the scream.

Soon, they arrive to see Gloria sitting on the ground, next to Inteleon, who is next to her, Poisoned.

"Gloria…" Victor says, before he notices several feet away is a Toxapex. "Who's that Pokémon?"

Victor's Rotom Phone flies up, "Toxapex, the Brutal Star Pokémon, Within the poison sac in its body is a poison so toxic that Pokémon as large as Wailord will still be suffering three days after it first takes effect."

Sirfetch'd sees Gloria as a princess, before it angrily looks at Toxapex, and charges at it, "Sir, Fetch!"

"Sirfetch'd, wait!" Gloria calls out.

"Sir, Fetch!" Sirfetch'd swings its leek back and forth.

"Toxa!" Toxapex brings all its starfish-like legs down, blocking Sirfetch'd's leek

"Sir… Fetch…" Sirfetch'd jumps back, before using its leek to try and hold itself up.

"Sirfetch'd poisoned?" Victor realizes.

"That was Toxapex's Baneful Bunker," Gloria explains, while her Rotom Phone floats next to her. "Not only does it shield Toxapex, but it also poisons anyone who makes direct contact.

"Toxa, Toxa, pex," Toxapex lifts up its two front legs, before firing spikes from its legs.

"Sir, Fetch!" Sirfetch'd is knocked back by the spikes.

"It used Baneful Bunker for defense, and Pin Missile to counter," Victor realizes, before looking at his friend. "Gloria, what happened?"

"We were just on our way to the ocean, when Toxapex appeared out of nowhere and attacked us," Gloria explains.

"Intel…"

"Toxa pex!" Toxapex motions one of its lifted legs, before pointing at the group of Pokémon. "Toxa pex! Toxa pex!"

"Is it challenging our Pokémon?" Victor wonders.

"Toxa," Toxapex nods its head. "Toxa pex."

Cinderace notices Inteleon, before looking ahead, "Cinder, Cinder!"

"Kub, fu," Kubfu steps ahead, motioning a paw to itself. "Kub, fu!"

Then a vine stretches out in front of Cinderace and Kubfu, with them looking over to Bulbasaur, as its vine retracts and it steps forward, "Bulba, bulba."

"You want to accept the challenge, Bulbasaur?" Gloria asks.

"Bulba," Bulbasaur nods its head.

"Well, as a Grass and Poison type, it does have the advantage over a Poison and Water type like Toxapex," Victor crosses his arms.

"Okay, but be careful, Bulbasaur," Gloria says.

"Intel…"

"Toxa…" Toxapex watches Bulbasaur.

"Bulba…"

After a few more seconds, a series of razor sharp leaves fly from Bulbasaur's bulb, "Bulba!"

"Toxa!" Toxapex brings down its legs, blocking the razor sharp leaves. "Toxa pex!" Toxapex becomes covered in water, before speeding ahead, slamming against Bulbasaur.

"Bulba!"

"I think that was Liquidation," Victor realizes.

"Bulbasaur, counter with Vine Whip!" Gloria calls out.

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur jumps back, as long vines stretch out, colliding with the water-covered Toxapex.

"Toxa pex!" Toxapex calls out, as the water breaks off it, with spikes flying off it.

"Razor Leaf!" Gloria instructs.

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur calls out, launching a series of razor sharp leaves.

The razor sharp leaves and spikes collide, before a water-covered Toxapex flies ahead, slamming against Bulbasaur.

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur is knocked back and slammed against a large hill, before falling down. "Bulba…"

"Toxa," Toxapex lands on the ground, before lifting its front legs, then turns to the other Pokémon. "Toxa pex."

"Bulba…"

The Pokémon looks ahead, before Toxapex turns back to Bulbasaur, "Toxa pex?"

"Bulba… Bulba…" Bulbasaur pushes itself back up.

"Bulbasaur…" Gloria says.

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur calls out, shooting a series of razor sharp leaves.

"Toxa pex!" Toxapex lowers its legs, before it is covered in water and zooms ahead, blowing through the leaves, then slams against Bulbasaur.

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur is knocked back.

"Bulbasaur!" Gloria calls out. "You don't have to battle anymore."

"Bulba…" Bulbasaur pushes itself back up.

Kubfu watches Bulbasaur, before it holds up an arm, "Kub, fu! Kub, fu! Kub, fu!"

Cinderace watches Kubfu, before it starts to cheer, "Cinder! Cinder!"

The other Pokémon start to cheer as well.

"Knigh! Knigh!"

"Pika Pi! Pika Pi!"

"Or, beet! Or, beet!"

"Impi! Impi!"

"Toxt! Icit!"

"Sili! Sili!"

"...Slow…"

"Everyone…" Gloria watches the Pokémon.

"Sir… Fetch…"

"Intel…"

Gloria turns back to the battle, "Go on, Bulbasaur! You can do it!"

"You got this, Bulbasaur!" Victor adds.

"Bulba…" Bulbasaur watches everyone cheering, before looking back at Toxapex, pushing itself up. "Bulba… Bulba!"

Bulbasaur starts to glow, before growing bigger, with its bulb's petals blooming, with the glowing ceases, "Ivy!"

"Bulbasaur evolved… into Ivysaur," Gloria realizes.

Gloria's Rotom Phone flies up, "Ivysaur, the Seed Pokémon, Exposure to sunlight adds to its strength. Sunlight also makes the bud on its back grow larger."

Gloria holds onto her Rotom Phone, "Ivysaur also learned a new move." She looks ahead. "Ivysaur, use Seed Bomb!"

"Ivy!" Ivysaur calls out, as several seeds shoot out of the top of its bud.

"Toxa pex!" Toxapex lowers its legs, shielding itself from the barrage of seeds hitting it.

"No good, you need to find a way around its Baneful Bunker," Victor says.

"Around it…" Gloria says, before she notice Silicobra. "No, under it!" She looks back at the battle. "Ivysaur, grab Toxapex with Vine Whip!"

"Ivy!" Ivysaur stretches out its vines.

The vines wrapped around Toxapex, "Toxa?!"

"Now, flip it!" Gloria calls out.

"Ivy!" Ivysaur turns slightly, with its vines pulling on Toxapex, flipping it upside down.

"Toxa pex!" Toxapex lands on its head.

"Seed Bomb!" Gloria instructs.

"Ivy!" Ivysaur calls out, as several seeds shoot out of its bud.

The seeds barrage down on Toxapex, blasting it and surrounding it with smoke, "Toxa!"

Ivysaur watches as the smoke clears, with Toxapex trying to push itself back onto its legs.

"Toxa…" Toxapex watches Ivysaur for several moments, before it bows its head. "Toxa pex…"

"Ivy," Ivysaur nods.

Toxapex turns away from Ivysaur and starts to walk away.

"I… I guess Toxapex accepted Ivysaur as the winner," Victor guesses.

"Kub, fu," Kubfu nods its head.

Shortly later, Gloria finishes spraying Inteleon and Sirfetch'd with Antidote, "There you go, better now?"

"Intel," Inteleon says, with a smile.

"Sir, Fetch," Sirfetch'd blushes, before bowing.

Gloria smiles, then turns to Ivysaur, "And well done, Ivysaur, I'm really happy for you."

"Intel," Inteleon nods.

"Ivy, Ivy," Ivysaur says.

Victor walks over, smiling, before he notices Kubfu is looking at the distance, "Kubfu, is something wrong?"

"Kub, fu," Kubfu points ahead.

Victor turns to see in the distant is the Tower of Waters, "We're almost there."

Gloria turns to look at Victor and Kubfu, before all of them start to stare at the Tower.

"Bulbasaur evolved to protect its friends against Toxapex, gaining a new strength. Now our heroes are a step closer to the Tower of Waters. What will Victor and Kubfu face within?"
