Chapter 5: Hideout and discovery

Nearly half a year passed since his apartment had blown up. Since then many things have changed for the young blond. His ANBU protection had been increased so that he could now live safely. After Naruto was ready to leave the hospital, he had wondered how he was supposed to live now as he was practically homeless. He didn't want to go back to the cold days on the street after he got kicked out of the orphanage. All his stuff was gone. He never had much, but it was still his and it was all reduced to ash. Since he was the only one who lived inside the entire complex, no one else had suffered from the explosion. During his stay at the hospital, Hiruzen had ordered one of his ANBU ('cough' Yamato/Tenzo's wood style) to repair the building. Naruto was surprised that his apartment looked much better than ever. With the Hokage's help the house was filled back up with more modern furniture and couches. While he would occasionally give them the slip doing a prank or 2 and hide in the Forest of Death, he would normally have at least one ANBU member watching over him.

His apartment may have been repaired, much to his joy, he still thought that there was no reason to simply dismiss everything that had happened, including the loss of his right eye, to which he had gotten a fake puppet eye to his real one. However, if one looked closely, they would notice the difference. It had been tough adjusting to everything with a lone eye. In fact, he still hasn't. But, the most important thing on his mind was the note that he found on the floor, 'Die Kyuubi'. By now, he knew there was a connection between him and the Kyuubi. Since he was kicked out of the orphanage, he had wondered what the reason was why people called him 'Demon' or sometimes whispered 'Kyuubi'. He had told the Hokage about the note and begged to tell him what it meant. His grandfatherly figure had looked surprised at this for a moment, before saying he wasn't the Kyuubi and closed the case. Angered at the dismissal of his request for a simple truth, he left his office. He tried his luck with Teuchi and Ayame. He pleaded for them to tell him only for them to 'nervously' tell him that the Kyuubi is gone. Naruto had noticed their hesitation when asked this question. They looked afraid as if something bad was going to happen if they told him. Not wanting to trouble them any further, he simply left without even eating. If no one was going to tell him, then he would find the answer himself. That had been what he was mostly doing the past few months besides training. Due to his training, he became much stronger than before to the point that he could probably beat most children of his age in raw physical strength, speed and endurance. The Hokage had given Naruto some time off to recover physically and mentally before enrolling him into the academy.

So while things seemed to have calmed down regarding him, he was still on edge. The villagers weren't aware of it, but there was a change in his attitude. His paranoia increased and he knew he had to get stronger. But, he couldn't let anyone know due to fear for his life. If people went to such lengths to hurt him as a weak child, then they would do much worse if he showed that he had talent in the academy. So, Naruto decided to pretend to act like a happy child with a stupid smile in the academy. It certainly was easy to act like that if every teacher usually kicked him out of class when he didn't do anything wrong and failed him on every test, regardless of his performance.

At first, the only instances where he was actively included into classes were on days where the students needed to do physical exercises or anything practical. When they sparred against the chunin instructor, Naruto would often get beaten rather harshly by the instructor. Most of his classmates and older students also sought to try and make the boy miserable every day, but would often fail. An example would be when he beat up 3 older kids who were bullying a Hyuga girl. Though Naruto only retaliated when they attacked him. Due to predescribed experiences, Naruto had no problem to usually skip anything practical at the academy, easily marking him as the 'Deadlast' of his year.

With Naruto

It was late in the evening. Naruto was now walking through a forest near the outskirts of the village to return to his apartment. He had stopped feeling safe there. He had been relaxing in the forest for some privacy. He still doesn't know why people hate him so much. Something that has always irritated him. While his will is strong, when he is alone sadness would swallow him. He is still a kid after all. He desperately wants the villagers' acknowledgement as something other than a monster. He also understands that there has to be a reason why people hate him so much. It just doesn't make sense to him. He was told that children are the most innocent of things in the world. So, why does everyone love to hurt him like this? Isn't he a child as well?

"I swear I will find out the truth!" He vowed to himself. After that he got up to go back to his apartment.

Suddenly he heard the sounds of metal clashing against metal and yellings. Moments later the sounds of fighting stopped while the yellings didn't. It only got louder.

Alarmed by this, he ran away immediately. He needed to hurry and reach the Hokage building. As Naruto was running away, several shinobi were slowly catching up to him to the point that Naruto was now visible to them. However, Naruto wouldn't allow them this time. He had been hurt enough. He would no longer be their entertainment. Anger, hatred and determination made sure to increase his speed. By now his cerulean blue eye now had a slitted pupil. After he left the forest, he tried to make his way into the streets. However, the streets were empty due to it being close to night time. He could no longer feel the chakra of his pursuers behind him so he stopped for a moment. That was his mistake. He was forced to jump when several kunai came from his left side. Thank God, it didn't come from the right or he would not have seen it coming. The attackers took this chance to catch up to a short distance from the boy.

"Well, well, well! Look at what we got here! The Demon brat!" One of them spoke. "You certainly have given us quite a chase…But then again, you are a fox after all!" He said mockingly. The man had black hair and a thin mustache. Naruto also recognized that unlike the others, he wore the standard Chunin attire with green leather vest, much like some other shinobi. He remembered this from his past lessons with the old man regarding Shinobi ranks

'No! Not again!' The others smirked at the boy's look of fear. Unfortunately for them, Naruto wasn't going to become their punching bag this time around. His past beatings and murder attempts and lastly the loss of his right eye came to his mind. His fear disappeared and was replaced again by his anger. His eyes changed to a fiery red, his nails turned to claws, his teeth became fangs and his whisker marks darkened as his appearance became more feral.

"Not this time!"

His predators started to show fear at the demonic burst of killing intent. Naruto charged at them and punched one of them in the face, causing the shinobi to fly a few meters away. However, this killing intent left as soon as it appeared. Quickly snapping out of his anger, the boy returned back to normal. Confused, the boy made use of this new opportunity and ran away. The shinobi recovered soon after from the killing intent and pursued him while throwing kunai. Naruto's small body made him a difficult target while moving. For a while the chase resumed. Naruto knew the streets very well by this point because of past experiences and frequently turned around corners of the street to lose his pursuers. However, the vision to his right was limited because of having only one eye. At one point he tripped over a small stone after taking a turn to his right. Rolling a few meters all the way to a sewer cover of an abandoned street. He yelped in pain. He tried to ignore the pain and get up, but failed to do he had time, he would describe the street as a ruin. Perhaps it was one of the streets that weren't repaired after the Kyuubi assault. He tried to get up, but he hurt his ankle due to tripping. He could hear the shinobi about to turn the same corner. He looked at the sewer cover. Out of instinct, he put his finger in a tiny hole and pulled the opening with all his strength. Miraculously, the cover opened completely. Quickly he entered the sewer through the opening and sealed it shut again. Clinging on the ladder, he tried not to make a sound. He could still hear the curses of the enraged shinobi from above him. He stayed like that until the sound disappeared. He wanted to exit the sewer again, but knew that if he was spotted, then he wouldn't be able to get away again with his injured ankle that was still healing.

Deciding on staying in the sewer for a while, he noticed something odd. There was barely any water in the sewer. Only a few puddles and it was very dark. He could barely see anything.

"What is this place?" The boy thought out loud. His curiosity took him over and he decided to explore.

Limping, he began walking through the sewer until he spotted a solid door when he came close. He scrunched his nose at the horrible smell. The more he approached the door the stronger a certain smell became. While the sewer smelled bad, this was worse. It reminded him of the smell he would get after he was beaten bloody. A voice in his head screamed at him not to open that door. He shuddered a bit before gathering his courage. It took him some effort, but he managed to finally open the door. What he found was the most disgusting thing he had ever seen yet. He couldn't contain the bile coming from his stomach and threw it all up on the floor. The room was a whole underground basement with large spots of dried blood, old limbs, gore and organs. There were many tubes, tools, books and scrolls lying around. There was even a weird table with a skeleton on it. It seemed more like a lab than a secret basement. It was obvious that no one had come here for a long time. After Naruto had finished vomiting, he shakily got back up. He still looked horrified and afraid. He was still feeling nauseous. He wanted to leave this place and never return. His ankle had by now healed and yet he couldn't find the strength in his legs to move. His body felt heavy and tired. It was only a moment later that he fell unconscious on top of a dried puddle of blood.

Meanwhile Hokage office

Hiruzen had finished his work and was going to head home to his clan compound. He was surprised however when the ANBU he assigned to watch over Naruto tonight had come back injured. After he explained how he got attacked and knocked out while guarding his charge, Hiruzen had immediately called all his available Hunter-nins and ANBU to find the boy. While the Inuzuka clan members managed to pick up the boy's scent, the scent stopped when they arrived at one of the ruined streets from the Kyuubi attack. Hiruzen was not happy with the news and ordered even more shinobi to patrol around the village for the whole night and next morning. He had tried using his crystal ball to locate the boy, but failed. This only increased his worries. Either Naruto was outside of the village walls or he was underground or… He didn't want to think about the last possibility.

Next day

Naruto woke up groggily with a bad taste in his mouth. It took a moment for him to remember the events of the night prior. He freaked out once more and tried to spit the taste of blood from his mouth, but managed to recover unlike the first time. Now that he was a bit more calm, he explored the lab a bit more. He noticed the shelves and drawers with several books and scrolls and other material. After he was done, Naruto had an idea.

'Maybe this could be my new hiding place. After I clean everything up, I can train and learn everything here.' He thought. He wanted to keep his training secret. This was just the place. He gathered the scattered scrolls and books and decided to put them back on their shelves. Cleaning up the disgusting stuff would come later.

Later same day

He had made his way back out of the sewer and went directly to his home. It wasn't long after he had taken a shower that he was immediately found by a 'very worried' silver haired ANBU to report to the Hokage. Agreeing, he would accompany him to his grandfatherly figure.

After entering the office, the old man practically blurred towards Naruto and gave him a bone crushing hug, much to the boy's confusion and discomfort. It was only after the old man bombarded the poor blue-faced boy with question after question, that he figured out that he was missing for a whole day.

"Where were you the entire night?! Do you realize how worried I was for you?! What happened to you?! Why couldn't my shinobi find you?!"

"Gramps… Can't…breathe…"

The old man released the boy, but still he gave the boy a stern look under which he gulped and looked down.

"I'm sorry…But, I was simply in the forest when I suddenly heard fighting…So I ran away because I was scared that they would hurt me…They chased me until I lost them after they caught up to me a few times…I couldn't go back because I fell and hurt my ankle while running away…But, it healed…I'm really sorry Grampa for not coming earlier…" The old man's face softened at the boy's explanation. The boy was now sniffling a bit until he was brought in a hug by the old man. While it was the truth, the boy had left out the part of finding a secret hideout. Hey! The old man kept secrets from him, so why not do the same? Naruto wasn't really fond of lying to the old man like this, even though he needed to keep his new hiding spot secret. After all, his own apartment was no longer safe if someone could simply blow it up like his apartment. They soon broke the hug.

"We searched all night for you." Hiruzen said, amused. The boy looked down apologetically much to the old man's amusement. Hiruzen observed the boy a bit more and saw something suspicious in those blue orbs. Hiruzen inwardly frowned. Naruto was hiding something from him, but he wasn't fooled. He was a veteran shinobi after all.

"Naruto, if there is anything else that you wish to tell me, you can." Hiruzen tried. He noticed the boy stiffening for a moment.

"Uhh no old man! There is nothing really!" The boy said frantically. Hiruzen didn't buy it, but decided to let it go for the moment.

"Very well, you may go if you want. Just be careful out there, alright?"

"I will Gramps! Thank you!" He hugged Sarutobi one last time before leaving.

'Perhaps I should order an ANBU to investigate.'

"Dog!" A silver haired ANBU dropped down out of nowhere. "I want you to tail Naruto during the evenings and further investigate. Afterwards, inform me of your findings. Is that clear?"

"Yes, Lord Hokage!" The ANBU responded, before Hiruzen motioned for her to dismiss herself. Once alone, Hiruzen couldn't help having the need to smoke his worries. He took his smoke pipe out and lit it up. He inhaled the contents and exhaled to relax himself.

Timeskip: 2 weeks

Naruto was going through the books he had found in his new hideout. He dismissed most, because he couldn't even begin to understand the stuff in those books due to his own limited training in theory. He dismissed each one until he came upon a book about the history of clans. It was a book named "Great Clans Throughout History". Reading through the book, he found out about the existence of different clans, their characteristics, the skills they were known for, their diplomatic relations and the union of the clans to forge a hidden village. In this book he had learned about the creation of Konohagakure no sato (Village hidden in the leaves) due to an alliance between the Senju and Uchiha after they ended their tribal feud. After reading a bit further in detail about these 2 clans, he came across the information about Uzumaki clan. This discovery shocked him and he started reading.

'The Uzumaki clan was a powerful clan that lived on an island south east to the current Fire country, known as the Uzu no Kuni (Land of the Eddies) with a swirl as their symbol. They had close relations with the Senju clan due to them being distant relatives of each other. During the period of the forming of hidden villages, the Uzumaki clan established their own hidden village, Uzushiogakure no sato (Village hidden in the whirlpools). Its name is attributed to the fact that the land of Eddies was surrounded by whirlpools. Their close relations were only strengthened after an alliance between Konohagakure no sato and Uzushiogakure no sato. The red swirl on the Konoha flak jackets and being present in the Konoha symbol, are signs of the friendship between the Senju and the Uzumaki clans. On top of that, Hashirama Senju, the Shodaime (first) Hokage married Mito Uzumaki shortly after their alliance. The Uzumaki clan members were known for most of them having red hair, incredible talent in the sealing arts and very high chakra reserves and longevity. Their high chakra reserves are a trait that they shared with the Senju clan. Though, it is noted that an average Uzumaki still possesses even more potent chakra than an average Senju. Among the Uzumaki there were even exceptions that possessed such potent chakra that they could condense them into constructs. The Uzumaki clan was feared for their ability to suppress and seal powerful chakra beasts and summons, including Bijuu (tailed beasts). The latter was especially possible due to the ability of the exceptional Uzumaki to manifest the 'Adamantine Sealing Chains' to restrain the Bijuu. This is why during the early period of the Second Great Shinobi War, they would be mostly wiped out by a combined assault of Kumogakure, Iwagakure and Kirigakure against Uzushiogakure. The remaining members of the Uzumaki clan have scattered across the world. The only known survivors of the assault were Mito Uzumaki and Kushina Uzumaki who resided in Konohagakure during the invasion.

More information about the fall of the Uzumaki clan is available in the book "Great events of the Second Great Shinobi War".'

The next pages were about the various battles the Uzumaki clan had participated in during the "Warring States Era". Finding out that his clan had been brutally wiped out during war angered him a lot and he decided to find out sooner or later. His more recent interest now lies in the names Mito Uzumaki Senju and Kushina Uzumaki. Naruto had a single thought in his mind about the possibilities of what these names could mean.

'Mom?'

Naruto's chakra started to flare inside the room. Emotions such as sadness, anger and betrayal washed over him. He had a clan! A family! Yet, nobody told him! His grandfatherly figure never mentioned anything about him having any relatives. Konoha was allied to his family. They wore their symbols as a sign of friendship. But, the villagers treat him like trash! No, lower than trash. In their eyes, he was 'something' that could be abused. He wasn't even a person to them.

After a while he calmed down. Suddenly he couldn't help but think, 'There were survivors from the attack, including the 2 names that lived in Konoha during the attack. Were they also treated that way? Maybe not! One of them was said to be the wife of the Shodaime Hokage. She had it probably nice.' The boy quickly eliminated the option of her being closely related to the first Hokage.

Questions about the second name started to flood his mind. "Kushina Uzumaki… Why do I have this warm feeling in my chest? Is it possible that you are my mom? If you are, where are you? Why aren't you with me? Are you even still alive? Please…save me… J-just take me away from here!" By now Naruto had broken down in tears.

Later that day, Naruto snuck into the civilian library with a 'Transformation jutsu'. He searched for any records about the Uzumaki's in Konoha, only to exit empty handed. He even snuck inside the Shinobi library during the night. Normally, one would need to go to the secretary for entry and show his/her Shinobi ID, something he didn't have. Naruto had been very thankful for his skills in stealth and pranking during his little crime. Unfortunately, there were no records about any Uzumaki in the less restricted sections. Any further, required scanning with one's Shinobi ID instead of simply showing it to the secretary at the lobby. There was only one option left for him and that was the Graveyard. He searched there for hours, looking at each gravestone. Alas, he couldn't find any name with Uzumaki. Maybe his parents are still alive. If they are, where are they? Why did they leave him here by himself?

Timeskip

A little more than 5 months had passed since Naruto found his new hideout. He had cleaned the place completely and brought it up to such a good shape to the point that he could actually spend a long time there.

Unbeknownst to him, the Dog masked ANBU had followed Naruto on the Hokage's orders to the ruined street where Naruto entered the sewer. When Naruto was not in his hideout, he went inside to find the secret hideout. To his surprise, it was well organized and had a lot of advanced literature. Naruto was lucky to have cleaned everything. Otherwise there would have been a lot going on. When he informed the Hokage of his discovery, Hiruzen decided to let Naruto have his secret hideout. However, he did order Dog to retrieve some of the more dangerous topics. While he was worried about the dangers all the literature posed, he was also afraid of losing Naruto's already fragile trust. So, he kept quiet in order to regain Naruto's trust later on. Also, if Naruto could keep his hideout a secret, then both Naruto and the village may benefit from it. Should Naruto pass this challenge, then perhaps he would be deemed ready for the truth about the Kyuubi attack.

At the beginning, Naruto gathered many of his important things from his frequently vandalized apartment and stored them in his new hideout along with scrolls, books and other useful materials he would scavenge from the trash of villagers. During his birthday, he stayed in his hideout. Aside from the entrance to the sewer through the cover in the ruined street, Naruto found out that the sewer was connected to an area close to the Forest of Death. This gave Naruto another path to his hideout.

He also chose to move his valuables to the hideout because his apartment was in the outskirts of the village, more specifically the infamous Red Light District. It was filled with thieves, small gangs, drunks and prostitutes. Normally the Hokage wouldn't allow the existence of such a district, but the council took too much power from the Hokage during his second reign as Hokage. The village was in an economic crisis after the Kyuubi attack and so the village became more reliant on the rich merchants and nobles who saw the chance to take more power in the village. Criminal activities such as the selling of drugs and unauthorized trading and smuggling brought a lot of money. So the civilian council either turned a blind eye or were responsible for safe transport through the village, by creating lapses in village security as long as it brought money in their own pockets. They even invested personally in these criminal activities, all of this unknown to the Hokage or the Daimyo of course.

Aside from moving his stuff there, he trained using whatever training schedules he could find. He had trained himself profusely in every possible way he could without anyone knowing. He did physical exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, squats and running. He also practiced taijutsu on wooden posts and threw kunai and shuriken he would find on selfmade targets. He didn't know if he was doing the Kata's right since he had no teacher so he had to go with what the scrolls instructed and whatever felt right. He mastered the only chakra control exercise he knew from his time with Sarutobi, the object balancing exercise.

Besides that, Naruto didn't stop his pranks. When he saw a silver haired man with a mask giggling while reading an orange book called 'Make-out Paradise'. While Naruto was too young to understand the contents of the book, he noticed how everyone who read the book was giggling in the same manner except they didn't have a mask on. So Naruto saw the blushes on their faces and blood dripping from their noses. Curious, Naruto snatched the book away from the silver haired man and ran away. If Naruto looked back at the man, he would have seen the horrified look on the man's face and heard him mutter something like 'Kushina is going to kill me in the afterlife'.

Naruto didn't neglect learning theory as he had personal reasons for gathering information. Most of the books in the hideout were too hard and weird. So he didn't bother with them at first. He couldn't spend a lot of time in his hideout anyway. He had to enter a sewer in the middle of the street in a ruined district. So he always had to make sure he wasn't followed.

While he failed to find any clues about Kushina Uzumaki or any other Uzumaki in Konoha, he did learn much about history and clans. This also included his own clan, the Uzumaki Clan. He also decided to honor his family by learning the Sealing arts. He would master it and when the time came, perhaps rebuild his clan on top of becoming Hokage. In order to begin his training in the Sealing arts, he started learning from a book in the Hideout.

'Intro To The Basics Of The Sealing Arts',

Written by Mito Uzumaki Senju.

The name of the author had surprised him and he remembered smiling. While he had no family to teach him, learning from a book written by a relative was the next best thing. The book was divided into 10 chapters. All chapters were also accompanied with scrolls that would suddenly poof when infused with chakra by the reader. The first chapter was more of a prologue or an intro to the definition of sealing, though the description was still in much more detail than with the old man about how Sealing worked, its requirements, its different types, their uses, the meaning of the symbols used in the basic calligraphy of Seals, the importance of fluent calligraphy and the dangers of sluggish writing, the dangers of sealings, etc.. There were some chapters that explained the usage, creation and practice of basic 'Sealing scrolls or Storage scrolls', basic 'security seals' and 'barriers'. Other chapters were only theoretical approaches for explosive tags, gravity seals, resistance seals, etc.. The chapters also contained exemplary techniques some of which Naruto practiced to the point that Naruto could create them without a fault. He did however refrain from attempting to create explosive tags as he didn't want to get discovered by blasting stuff if he did something wrong. He managed to learn how to create minor security and barrier seals over his own apartment and hideout. These seals were tested when civilians tried to vandalize his apartment, but failed to break open his front door. He would also be made aware of such attempts when he was at a limited range. Since then, Naruto could finally sleep a bit more comfortably. He was also capable of using small storage scrolls to store small objects away as well.

This brings us to the present situation. After 5 months, he had finally learned all he could from the Book made by his ancestor. This also included all of the scrolls that accompanied the book. He didn't know if this was quick or slow considering he had no one to compare himself with or to teach him. So he decided to start studying from a more advanced book. Going through his book collection, he found another book about seals.

'Theory and practice of Intermediate Sealing'

Written by Jiraiya of the Legendary Sannin.

"Jiraiya, who is that guy? Meh… Sounds like a pervert anyway!" The boy wondered out loud, unknowingly nailing the character of one of the strongest shinobi alive.

The book itself was a lot thicker than the previous book. Reading through the 'Table of contents' There was an intro that covered everything about calligraphy. Naruto noticed that most of the chapters were about the same subjects as the first book. The only differences were that the current one was more advanced and had some additional chapters for following subjects:

Basic theory and understanding of living storage scrolls

Low-level Chakra suppression

Low-level Paralysis sealing

Theory of the basic principles of Space-time Ninjutsu

Naruto blinked a few times when he read the title of the first new chapter. Naruto lifted up his shirt and channeled some chakra. This allowed the strange tattoo on his stomach to appear.

'But these symbols… They are calligraphy symbols.' It was then that something dawned on him. He had something sealed in him. He didn't know if such a thing was possible. He skipped through the pages until he finally reached the chapter 'Basic theory and understanding of living storage scrolls'.

Up until now, we have gone through all forms of basic sealing and some mid-level sealing methods. This included the creation and practice of small to large storage scrolls. By this point in your journey in the Sealing arts, you should already be aware how objects of varying sizes can be sealed within such storage scrolls or into another object as mentioned in previous chapters and in books or scrolls for beginners. We even mentioned that corpses and even living beings could also be sealed within an object. This is a principle that is commonly used by 'Hunter ninja's' and 'Bounty hunters' when they need to kill or capture their targets. However, it isn't always possible to seal a living being into even the largest of chakra scrolls or objects, at least permanent. Living beings that belong to this category are the Bijuu (tailed beasts). The Bijuu are immortal creatures made purely from chakra. They are named and ranked in strength by their number of tails, ranging from the Ichibi (one-tailed Raccoon) all the way to the Kyuubi (Nine tailed fox). They can not be killed permanently and their chakra is immensely dense. Only a handful of humans have been recorded to have their chakra potency. This doesn't make them undefeatable. The lower ranked Bijuus can be sealed within a durable object that can sustain their potent chakra. For the more powerful Bijuu, this isn't a lasting solution or simply not possible. The Kyuubi for example cannot be sealed within an inanimate object. It has to be sealed within a living vessel that can survive the sealing ritual and contain its malevolent chakra and soul within their bodies.

In the 'Valley of the End' Madara Uchiha had gained control of the Kyuubi and challenged Hashirama Senju to a deathmatch which led to the defeat of the former Uchiha clan leader. Following the battle, the First Hokage deemed that the Bijuu were too big a threat to be allowed to roam freely throughout the lands. This led to the decision of capturing each Bijuu except for the Ichibi which was already sealed by the Hidden Sand village. When the threat of war came, Lord First called for a summit meeting to establish treaties with the other great village leaders. By the end of the meeting, Hashirama Senju had shared the Bijuu with the other villages to balance power and maintain peace. Since then the Bijuu have been sealed into human vessels, known as Jinchuuriki ('The Power of Human Sacrifice'). Since then, Jinchuuriki have been used as war deterrents and weapons of the village. Jinchuuriki are primarily children with a potentially strong life force or even infants with undeveloped chakra coils so that their bodies can adapt to the chakra of the beast that they contain. Due to the history between humans and Bijuu, fear had been instilled by the rampaging Bijuu upon the villages, this fear would later be turned upon their human vessels who would be feared and ostracized as well unless their identities remained secret. This also protects the Jinchuuriki from kidnappings by other powers. Contrary to popular belief in certain regions, Jinchuuriki aren't the Bijuu that they contain. They are its prison, while the Bijuu is their prisoner.

By this point, Naruto stopped reading.

"The Kyuubi attacked during October 10th… My birthday is on the same day! The Fourth Hokage… H-he sealed the Kyuubi within me that night! Why… WHY ME?!" Naruto's eyes turned blood red and gained a vertical black slit for a pupil. His teeth became fangs, his whisker marks became darker and more feral and his nails turned into claws as red and blue chakra swirled wildly within the hideout. It would have been sensed from outside the sewer hideout if it wasn't for the security and barrier seals.

Everything had finally clicked within the boy. The glares, the beatings, the attempts on his life or any other form of abuse. It all made sense to him now and it wasn't because someone told him, but because he read it from a book. Not the Third Hokage, not Teuchi, not Ayame, but a book. Naruto felt betrayed and devastated. Naruto understood that from now on, he couldn't trust anyone anymore.

Unknown Location

Inside a fancy room that was decorated with what appears to be various dolls, plushies and other toys, a little girl in a pink kimono dress is seen playing while humming a little song. Aside from her clothes, her unique long red hair stood out the most.
