Tokyo...
"You're actually going?!" Majima said delightfully, his eyes lit up, akin to how a puppy would look when their owners finally come home.
"Yeah, don't get your hopes up too soon though." Yagi shifted closer, whispering to his ear, "I have ulterior motives agreeing to this."
Yagi's eyes shifted uncomfortably towards the rat, and said rat raised his brow, "You do know that I can hear you, right? Is this about the supermarket sale?"
Yagi quickly straightened his body, before clearing his throat, "Mhm! Of course, the sale."
"Something's telling me that you're not even telling the whole truth." Nezu said, suspecting something.
Yagi stared at the rodent momentarily, before returning his attention back to Majima without responding to the vice principal, "Anyway! 'Jima-san, if you'd like, you can come with us."
A wave of sudden heat coursed through his cheek, as Majima began to speak again, "M- me? Come with you? I would be honoured-"
"Quit the simping act and get straight to the answer, 'Jima." Yagi interrupted.
"S- simping?!"
"I'm messing around. I was just saying that owing to the fact that you think so highly of me." Yagi rolled his eyes, before asking again, "So?"
"I don't know, Yagi-san, I mean, I'm supposed to be the lead assistant in your agency. I keep everything organised, the merchandise, criminal activities, the sidekicks-"
"Eh, tell them that we're on maintenance for now." Yagi shrugged, "I never wanted an agency anyway. Those freaking circus keepers back on the commission insisted me to have one. What a bunch of freeloaders."
"You're willing to go to that length just for this?"
"I just like having you around. A sufferable companion, if you'd like." Yagi said casually, before tilting his head to the rat, "Can he come with us?"
"Whatever you want. But this means that your agency might have the potential to be disbanded." Nezu warned.
"I don't really care." Yagi said flatly, before patting his assistant in his shoulder, "Come on, let's go. I'll still pay you, don't worry. Consider it a mandatory road trip."
If Majima's blood was about to burst out of his cheeks, this would be the good time for it to happen.
Mustafu, Chifuku High Junior..
Jiro liked being alone. She never found any delight in having anyone's company at all. She likes listening to her mp3 player and sitting at the corner of the canteen alone when the surrounding area has no people sitting or standing around.
It doesn't help her case that the majority of this school's attenders consisted of insecure bullies.
Like that Bakugou kid, for example..
It's better if she just stays out of sight.
Her earlobes then detected one heartbeat coming near. Damn. So much for staying out of sight.
"Hey there...you might not remember me, but we met yesterday.." That familiar voice.
Oh...
Jirou beamed a bit, and gave the approaching boy a small smile, "Hey, you.. you're Midoriya-san, right?"
"That, I am. I just..noticed that you're sitting here by yourself. Don't you want to get to know the others a little bit better?" Izuku asked, "I know it seems...a bit pushy, but, really, I'm just looking out for you."
"Of course, of course.." Jirou smiled, "But I'm fine. I need time to adjust myself, like you said, before getting to know the others." Jirou then frowned, "Some of them are inhospitable to people with inferior quirks, are they?"
"Yeah, that's just how they've always been." Izuku looked sad for a moment, before shaking his head, "Anyway, sorry for bothering you. I mean, I don't have much friends myself so I know what it's like. Just try to put some effort, you know, so you don't end up like me."
"Wait, wait, Midoriya.." Jirou called out after him, halting him on the spot, "Do you mind if you..sit beside me for a moment?"
"Uh, oh? I mean, if you like.."
"Of course I'd like to. You're the boy who saved my ass yesterday." Jirou laughed.
As Izuku sat down beside her, she began to speak, "Um, if you don't mind me asking, do you have an inferior quirk like I do? Like..emitter type quirks, or..transformation quirks? I myself have a mutant quirk, as you can see with my peculiar earlobes."
This was the moment of truth. Shit, she's going to ridicule him for this too, will she?
After all, being quirkless is considerably worse than having what's regarded as an 'inferior quirk'. At least they have something they can use when they become a hero.
"I don't know how to break it in to you without sounding ridiculous, but," Izuku hesitated for a moment. Should he tell her? This is his only chance of having an actual friend in all his years.
Screw it. Here goes nothing..
"Well, the truth is, I'm...quirkless." Izuku finally said it. The truth. The whole truth.
Oh...
OH.
"I completely forgot about that," Jirou said apologetically, "Sorry. I did hear you mention about your situation, but, slipped my mind." She giggled.
"You don't have a problem with it?"
She lightly punched the boy on the shoulder, "What are you, crazy? If I wag my tails around and act all pissy pissy about shit that you can't control, I'd be no better than the bullies who bothered me yesterday."
"Oh, oh, right.." Izuku was surprised by that.
"Right." Jirou smiled, "You know, I see potential in you. Wanna be friends?"
"Friends?"
"Yeah, friends."
Izuku stared at her for a moment.
"Oi, quit spacing out." Jirou interrupted him from trailing off, "Not like it'd achieve anything."
"Yeah, yeah, we can..be friends." Izuku nodded, "And do friend stuff, that I never did before." Izuku's voice sounded down again.
"Hey, it's not like I know what the hell I should do either. I'm not experienced, but we can at least try?" Jirou's lips quirked into a heartwarming smile.
"We can try."
Hours later...
After school was done, Izuku agreed to go home with Jirou, and surprisingly, managed to stay out of Bakugou's radar.
For now, at least.
As Izuku bid his goodbye with his newfound friend, he went into a separate road, finding himself to be lonely once again.
Yeah. That girl was really, really nice.
Suddenly, a scream was heard in front of him. Izuku quickly shot his eyes up, only to see a man with a black shirt holding a pro-hero by his collar, his other hand curling into a tightened fist.
Without thinking, Izuku screamed, "WAIT!"
The man stopped for a moment, before dropping the pro-hero into the ground.
He tilted his head to his back, catching a glimpse of the boy who shouted earlier, "Hm?"
"Why are you beating him up, mister? He's a pro-hero!"
The man cleared his throat, before speaking, "A fan, hm?" He then proceeded to kick the laying hero in the head, knocking him out cold.
The man turned his body facing towards the greenett, approaching him.
Izuku would be lying if he said he wasn't scared in the slightest. The man opened his mouth again, "So, are you a fan of these pretenders dressed in spandex?"
"I mean, yeah, I like heroes a lot. I aspire to be one." Izuku replied, "Which is why I'm not letting you beat him up even further."
"A fine sentiment." The man with the v shape hair leaned forward towards the boy, "Is that a scar I see in your face?"
"Yes..."
"If I'm guessing, that was the work of a bullying." The man said again, and Izuku couldn't see where this was going.
"I've heard that a lot, the statement that says that anyone can't be a hero if they don't have a quirk. In fact, I knew a guy once, back in the day, but he was too much of a coward to make people see and disperse the injustice in this world." The man spoke again, immediately knowing about the boy's situation, "He didn't have the guts to do what's right. But I do."
"What are you trying to achieve then?" Izuku asked, his tone firm.
The man straightened, before replying, "To be the symbol of fear that straightens this world into the correct path. What this world needs, isn't biased half-assed justice, but unbiased absolute evil that drives humanity to try to better itself, to demolish the concept of separation and discrimination."
"Heroes won't save you, kid. Were they there when the tormentors you came to know as your fellow classmates gave you that scar?" The man chuckled, "Only evil itself can save you."
He then turned his back and walked away.
But then, Izuku yelled and called after him, "Wait!"
The man halted himself, waiting for the boy to speak.
"Who are you?"
The man finally replied, "I'm Garou, the monster." He then used his legs to propel himself up in the air, looking as if he just vanished in an instant.
Izuku stared at the sky for a moment, as the cold air breezes through his skin. He noticed that the vibrant luminousity of the sun is starting to set itself over the horizon. Night was dawning like a subtle thief.
Izuku sighed, as he continued to walk his way back home.
One thing was on his mind, though..
I knew a guy once, but he was too much of a coward to make people see and disperse the injustice in this world.
Oh...
OH!!!!!!!
...several hours later...
"And we're here, on the secluded section of the entire city. What time is it now, 'Jima?" Yagi asked, shifting into a much more comfortable pose in the car seat.
Majima looked at his watch, before answering, "Uh, it's...10 PM, right now."
Yagi widened his eyes, "T- TEN PM?!"
"Oi, Nezu, what city are we in again?" Yagi asked.
Nezu stared at the man with the 'oppai' sweatshirt with an incredulous look, "You mean to tell me that you have no idea what city UA is residing in?"
Yagi stared at him for a moment, before looking at the ceiling, "Haaaaa, so we're back on this shithole again, huh?"
"I heard the number two hero, Senritsu Tatsumaki, lives on here." Majima said.
That name alone struck a chord on Yagi's heartstrings. Damn. Has it been that long since that day?
"Is something the matter, Yagi-san?" Nezu said.
"Nothing." Yagi said with a..not-so-plain expression, "Let's just go to whatever place you were preparing for me to stay in."
...
"Seriously?!" Yagi yelled with his eyes opened up wide, "I'm going to live in this..expensive looking house?! I mean, to buy this kind of thing will cost me like..my fortune!"
"Yup." Nezu nodded, "You're going to live in this house for a while. Consider this a goodwill from the UA faculty, as a price for your cooperation."
Yagi smiled for a moment, before returning to his usual plain expression, "Wait, you seriously don't think I'm the type of guy who can be bought out, do you?"
"Of course not. After all, I still have to decipher what kind of ulterior motives do you have hidden agreeing to our offer." Nezu replied.
"I already told you-"
"Get a good night's sleep, will you? Tomorrow, we'll proceed with the signing. You'll be our most recent official new teacher starting tomorrow." Nezu smiled proudly, before turning his back, "Farewell." He said before closing the door.
Yagi and Majima was left standing awkwardly in front of the door. The former turned his eyes to his lead assistant mischievously, "I brought some games with me. Wanna play a round?"
Majima grinned excitedly, "OF COURSE, YAGI-SAN!"
...The Next Day...
School was a bit lively the next day, if he had to admit. Izuku had a new friend. Jirou was quite the..delightful company.
No longer was she the girl who stays at the corner alone. She seems to like sitting near Izuku whenever there's lunch breaks.
Once the bell rung, they both went out fo the school to walk home.
"You've been excited all this morning, Midoriya. Did something happen?" Jirou asked with a teasing smile.
"Just...well, I don't know how to explain it, but I just found out about something. Something crucial to my long childhood dream." Izuku smiled back.
"Your dream? You have a dream job?" Jirou asked curiously.
"Yeah. I've always wanted to become a pro-hero since I was a kid. A shame that things didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.." Izuku's expression turned sad momentarily.
"Hey, don't worry, I'm sure whatever it is that you just found out about, it can find you a way to at least kick those bullies's ass." Jirou chuckled, patting her friend in the back.
"Yeah.." Izuku then shifted his eyes towards Jirou, "Do you have a dream job too?"
"Me? Uh.. it's kind of complicated." Jirou replied.
"I can handle complicated." Izuku shrugged.
"Well, you see, I'm just uh..stuck between in choosing two of said dream jobs, you could say that I'm in a dilemma right now." Jirou sighed, "I've always liked music, I guess it's a daddy's influence, he seems to call everything 'rocks' if he finds them to his liking. But being a pro-hero has always been what caught my eyes. I could help a lot of people, you know..but my quirk is best suited for a musician, not a pro-hero." She said sadly.
Izuku shook his head, "That's not true. Your quirk is suitable for a pro-hero as well. You can detect heartbeats, soundwaves, all those stuff, right?"
Jirou nodded.
"Your quirk can be used for an undercover mission, if you hone it enough, you can detect inaudible sounds, the kind that even the average ears can't catch." Izuku replied, "It's still useful. Of course, there's still the matter of support equipments. I'm sure there are one that can convert your heartbeat into a soundwave that can be used to damage your enemies, especially their sense of hearing. So- Muttermuttermuttermuttermutter-"
"Okay, okay, jeez, I get it!" Jirou interrupted him, as she laughed in slight amusement, "You have a loose mouth for an introvert. Even I don't talk that much."
"Sorry, I just..tend to speak what's on my mind a lot, kind of like a vomit, you know?" Izuku spoke as he scratched his hair sheepishly.
"Nah, those doesn't sound like a vomit at all. I find those ideas of yours, well, very eye opening. I never even thought about it." Jirou replied, "You're quite the quirk enthusiast if I say so myself, ain't ya?"
"Yep! Want to see my notebooks? I left it back home though, but I could show you tomorrow!" Izuku beamed.
"Heck yeah I'd love to, dude!" Jirou replied excitedly, "Never thought I'd have a nerd as a friend, you're so cool!"
"Don't give me too much credit.." Izuku laughed in embarrassment, "I- it's just a hobby."
'Not just a hobby, an extraordinary one!" Jirou slapped her hand towards the boy's back, "Looking forward to it!"
As they walked into a crossroad, Izuku sighed, "Looks like we're separating here for now, are we?"
"Yeah. Don't be so down, dude. We'll read the notebooks together tomorrow when it's lunch break. See ya!" Jirou waved as she walked to the right side of the road.
"See ya." Izuku replied back with a small smile, as he walked left.
Izuku saw the exact same spot where that odd guy was beating the pro-hero up in. He wondered if he'd come by again. He had to stay in alert.
"Hey kid." A voice from behind called out.
Izuku quickly turned his head around, his flight or fight instincts kicking in.
"Mind if I take over the wheel for a bit?" A sludge-like villain snarled, it's malicious intent was out for him to see.
Earlier...
Yagi didn't feel much, as he always does. Becoming the newest teacher in the UA faculty doesn't phase him. Any pro-hero would have their head over heels if the opportunity of working there as a teacher presents itself.
Walking down the streets with his most trusted lead assistant, he was bent on finding the fighting game they were trying to get so they can try it out tonight.
Something caught his eyes in the middle of the street. A discount sale was happening as he walked.
"'Jima, I think the game discs has to wait, look." Yagi pointed at the poster in a particular supermarket, "Are you seeing that? 70% discount for the premium meat?! We can make a hotpot for the night with that."
"Oh, oh!" Majima nodded rigorously, "Of course, whatever you wish."
"Dude, you don't need to act like a lifeless robot." Yagi deadpanned, "Just say it if you don't want to."
"Of course I want to! Why wouldn't I?" Majima replied again, his grinning mouth never fading.
"Well, if it wasn't me and it was someone else asking you to, I'm sure you'd tell them to fuck off." Yagi shrugged, before walking into the supermarket, "It's whatever, let's just hop on the market and-"
"SOMEBODY STOP HIM!"
That alarmed voice caught his attention. Yagi shifted his eyes to the side, only to see a man holding a grocery bag, running away, before a substance leaped away from his body, taking the grocery away with it, morphing into some kind of sludge creature.
Damn, what even was that?
"Well I'll be damned." Yagi remarked, before turning his attention back to Majima, "Wait here, I won't be away for long." He said before going after the sludge villain.
He was too late.
The villain already entered the sewage tunnel bellow.
Goddammit, now he had to do some calculating shit in order to find it.
...
Izuku couldn't breathe. He could barely suck the air with either his mouth or nose. This creature, whatever it is, is choking him, probably some kind of odd process in order to take over a body.
"You don't know how bad I need you right now, kid! You're my hero! Don't worry, this will end soon, and you won't have to feel pain anymore!" The sludge villain said, as it squeezed the boy even tighter than before, it's liquid substance digging deeper into both his skin and his mouth.
Izuku knew no one is going to help. It was a secluded area. Of course, no one is going to help. He's going to die here. He really is going to die here.
Gee, and how will his mom and Jirou react to his unfortunate death?
He felt like shit for leaving them like this. He hadn't even reached his dream of being a pro-hero..
Sorry, everyone..Guess I'll die in here..
Suddenly, the pain was lifted away. The creature disappeared in an instant, as if some kind of wind pressure blew it away.
Wait, wind pressure?
Izuku opened his eyes, his hazzy vision caught a glimpse of someone in a yellow jumpsuit staring back at him.
"Hey...you alright...kiddo..?" Izuku couldn't register the words properly.
Wait, is that...?
As his vision cleared a bit, the description of the man before him seemed familiar.
A man with two protruding tufts from each side of his hair, wearing a yellow jumpsuit and a pair of red gloves and red boots, white cape fluttering in the air smoothly.
Could it be..?
"All Might..?" Izuku uttered with a weak smile.
Before the man could respond, Izuku's world turned dark, his consciousness lost in the blissful darkness, drifting away as his body collapsed roughly on the ground.
TO BE CONTINUED!
