...
Tatsumaki's emotions rippled, like a decaying thread being forcibly segregated by two opposing force. Her eyes flickered, her aura switching off and on as she dangerously took a step forward, the ceiling above her threatened to collapse into the ground where she and her sister stood on. Fubuki didn't speak. Not even once, and it irked her. How could she be so dense? How was she so ignorant to the threat in front of her?
Her lips quirked, her eyes narrowed insidiously.
"Fubuki." She emphasized on her word, "I asked you a question."
"S- sis.." Fubuki tried to muster enough courage to get the words out.
She couldn't.
She didn't know what to tell her, after going out on her own behind her back, making her worry..
She felt like nothing could justify whatever it is she's doing right now. She kept her lips sealed, leaving Tatsumaki as the sole party of the conversation.
Tatsumaki, on the other hand, was beyond any point of rationality. She felt like ripping everything on sight into shreds. The fact that her sister got roped into some sort of fucked up meeting between two opposing figures in a headquarter that was supposed to be secure. She wondered if the Hero Commission is reliable at this point.
Her eyes whipped back to the overarching threat in front of her, levitating in the air, looming down on both the psychic sisters.
"Is this what you have stooped into, Psykos? Luring my little sister into your den so you can ensnare and snatch her away?" Tatsumaki rested her hands on her hips, "Can't say I'm fond of such cowardly tactics."
"As if you know a thing or two about not being a coward," Psykos chuckled, "After all, even if you present yourself as the 'concerned sibling', you have your own ulterior motives coming here, don't you?"
Tatsumaki was static, her mouth unmoving.
Psykos floated forward, "Tell me, am I correct?"
Tatsumaki took a deep breath, and seconds later, she spoke, "...'Catalyst behind my memory shortage', eh?"
"As anticipated." Her aura dissolved, her hair settling down from flaring above her head level.
"'Anticipated?" Tatsumaki's brows raised, before the realisation dawned on her. Of course.
"That man who kept appearing in your vision, it's like the opening of a stitched wound, is it not?" Psykos's eyes sharpened.
Tatsumaki's heart swollen, as if something sharp sunken itself into it forcibly. The flashes of the mysterious man kept lingering on her mind. That somber look of his, as he sat down on the bench, and she was there, to console him, to comfort him.
Why was she comforting him?
What..
"Tell me." Tatsumaki's voice came out as desperate, if not a little agitated.
She wanted to add with a please, but couldn't seem to get the word off.
Fubuki's eyes were dead set on Tatsumaki, with a hint of plea, a subtle message that there was no going back from this. Tatsumaki hardly cared.
Psykos's lips slowly bent upwards, and as her skin wrinkled along with the movement, these words were uttered..
"The man inside of your dreams, is All Might."
Everything seemed shrinking in her perspective. Wait...
Wait.
Wait.
She's met him before, did she?
The man in that tacky, cheapskate of a hero outfit. That All Might? But..
"If this is another one of your bluffs..."
Psykos's throat rattled with a devious laughter, but simply put, her tone was devoid of any deceptive intention whatsoever, "The man that you loved, the man that I once broke, who I coerced to keep himself hidden from the public eye, who deliberately kept himself at the bottom, at the lowest of the low, at the den of the filth and the defiled, he was the man that you once loved."
No...
That can't be it.
He can't be-
Suddenly, a wave of memories flooded her brain. Every words spoken, every promises made, affection that she received, the love that she savoured..
Slowly, but surely, a rivulet of hot, and warm tears sprinkled from her eyes. Sinking into the dirt of old memories, submerged in it's melancholical melody. Her head began to reverberate with pain, vibrating throughout every area of her body. Her aura began to flare into every direction, as the memories began to flash in her eyes one by one. His smile, out of them all, the most identical image of them all, his smile of reassurance, the way he held her close, his closeness resonating with the calming and comforting warmth..
How long was it since they've been apart with each other?
Since he..
Left her?
"T- this..I don't.." Tatsumaki fell to her knees as the pillars around her began to collapse.
Yagi.
Yagi Toshinori.
The man she loved.
The man she'd always adored, who gave her a roof to stay under, a place to shelter herself in when she was at her lowest, when everything went shit for her.
It changed her.
It drastically did so.
Everything went smoothly for her, everything.
Until that day. The day that the memories that she made with him, turned into nothing but an insignificant remnant.
The day she finally met Psykos. That impossibly horrific monster that she came to call her mother..
"The mystery has been unraveled, Tatsumaki." Psykos clasped her hands, "He abandoned you. Left you out of the loop for thirty years. Don't you think that's enough to tell you, that none of these worthless, hairless apes are worthy of our solitude?"
Tatsumaki clicked her tongue, as she stood, "Don't speak to me about 'trust'. If anything's unworthy of trust," Tatsumaki's eyes flared and shimmered with contempt, "It's you."
Lightning crackled into every direction, as the confined room around them were enveloped with green aura, both aura's from the espers submerged and assimilated into each other, splashing against each other, causing an electrical discharge that caused the ground to vibrate and shudder.
Tatsumaki tried her best to kept her footing steady, as her aura collided with Psykos's own.
With the last of her remaining will, she tilted her head towards Fubuki, and a simple order were uttered from her mouth,
"Run."
...
Yagi's eyes shot open when the television were suddenly brimming up with noises of all kinds.
A news headline was pampered at the screen, showing a massive wind vehemently swirling around the area that he easily identified as the Hero Commission's HQ.
...
"What the fuck is going on?" Yagi asked himself, before heading towards his wardrobe, where his hero outfit was stashed inside.
"Not even a few seconds into my nap, someone's already stirred up some trouble." Yagi sighed to himself, "Guess I'll give whoever it is a good smack and a piece of my mind for good measure."
He donned the suit, before walking towards the exit door of his office. Not like him to butt into another people's business, but he had a hunch that his presence was greatly needed there.
Little did he know how on point his guts were.
...
Tatsumaki lost the track of time, gripping Psykos's neck as hard as she can, their altitude brushing against the endless sea, before reaching a populated place.
Tatsumami halted, before using her psychic energy to send Psykos away into the sky, creating a massive gap between the clouds.
She needed answers. How could she not notice about All Might's significance to her life for so long?
There must've been some kind of record that proves the existence of her relationship with him!
Her heart swelled at the thought of the man alone.
How long has it been since he left her?
Three decades?
Her body levitated into the air, where Psykos hovers over. Fragrance of deceit and manipulation, it was swarming all over Psykos.
Perhaps it was a fluke? A mistake? A miscalculation? Or better yet, a form of deception enforced upon her in purpose so she could be susceptible to further manipulation?
"Oh my, you look great, better than I even remembered!" Psykos's voice came like a razor blade, "Welcome back to the real world, Tatsumaki."
Tatsumaki simply didn't answer.
Psykos chuckled, "We have a lot to unfold, Tatsumaki. Remember our last conversation? The rift that was formed between us has been left unattended for far too long."
Tatsumaki's right hand stretched forward, esper energy stringing forward to the tip of her fingers, as it immobilised Psykos on the spot.
"Can't even listen to me without retaliating, can you?" Psykos managed to speak, "But then again, it's not like I came here unprepared."
A spiral of energy sprung from each opposing direction, forming into a sharpened object, hurling themselves in Tatsumaki's direction.
In a split second, Tatsumaki managed to form a barrier around herself before they can make an impact on her.
However, the sharpened structures were relentless, continuously pushing themselves against the barrier that she formed around her, and eventually, the solid matter began to penetrate through, threatening to make an impact with her shoulder.
Tatsumaki clenched her fists hard enough to generate enough power to fend the blade-shaped structures off, but it was to no avail.
"It's futile, daughter." Psykos hovered down, her stature seemingly belittling Tatsumaki's own, trapped in her own barrier, "Now, let's talk business, shall we?"
"B- business..?" She blurted out, "I'd rather-" Tatsumaki couldn't finish her sentence as the sharpened objects began it's march towards her, moving even the slightest inch to her distance to close the gap.
"You have nothing left..G- give it a rest." Tatsumaki uttered, "There's not a single soul in this planet, that would, in their right mind, assist you in this...unhinged crusade of yours.."
"Tatsumaki, little Tatsumaki, did you honestly believe, that the Monster Association was all I had?" Psykos ran her fingers delicately through the barrier, "It was merely a decoy, the first stage of my schemes. I have devised enough contingencies upon contingencies should everything that I've ever worked on falls apart. It's hopeless, no matter how much you try to oppose me, I'll always be one step ahead of you."
Tatsumaki coughed, blood spluttering from her lips, as she garnered enough strength and willpower to ask, "What the fuck do you want, honestly? Haven't you ruined my life enough already?"
"A temporary alliance." Psykos said, "You were always the most crucial part of my plans, Tatsumaki. But unfortunate enough, your mother was always against the very idea, but now that she's gone.."
Gone?
"You..what the fuck did you do to her?"
"Put her in a dormant state long enough for her consciousness to dissipate." Psykos dropped the bomb shell.
Tatsumaki's bared her teeth, as she pushed against the structures coercing itself against her barrier, "Tell me you don't mean what I think you meant."
"She's dead."
That's it.
That was the last straw.
But before she could retaliate even further,
"OI, YOU TWO, GET DOWN FROM THERE!" A familiar voice echoed from below. Tatsumaki's eyes shifted towards the source wistfully, and her heartbeat increased it's pace.
Such fondness, yet the contempt in her heart overtook her.
"Yagi...Toshinori..?" Tatsumaki uttered the words like a cursed mantra.
...
Yagi squinted his eyes, and as it seems, these two morons aren't going to cease from trying to settle the dispute over whatever the fuck it was in the middle of a populated area.
Seriously, Tatsumaki, what the hell happened to her?
Yagi, one more time, tried to be the voice of reason, "Didn't you hear me?! Get the fuck down and settle this shit diplomatically!"
They didn't listen.
"Man, you kids really need a good smack or two for you to listen."
However,
One of them disappeared into thin air, leaving only one person to float there by herself.
Tatsumaki.
Oh boy.
Hm. I did say I was planning to talk to her to figure out what's going on with her.
Yagi waved at her, "Yo."
Tatsumaki's gaze never left him, it's as if she was staring at his soul.
"Eh? Why are you looking at me like tha-"
In a split second, Tatsumaki's body sprinted on it's own, approaching Yagi at a speed that the average eye couldn't perceive.
As she closed her distance, Yagi could see the bleak in Tatsumaki's expression..
Oh shi-
Yagi was sent catapulting straight through multiple buildings. Goddammit, she really isn't paying attention to her surroundings.
Yagi recovered in the air, using his body movement to halt himself and regulate the kinetic force that sent him flying by.
His eyes sharpened, and he could see the moving figure of Tatsumaki hurling at him in a straight line, emerald energy following her suit
Yagi moved to the side, and caught Tatsumaki in her wrist, ultimately stopping her from mobilising even further.
"Hey, I told you to knock it off, didn't I?" Yagi lightly chastised as he gripped her wrist even tighter, "If you're not willing to listen, you should probably consider a career change. You have a knack for disregard towards collateral damage, don't you? Not to mention that you were the one who lifted the entire Monster Association Base to the surface without an elaborative back-up plan."
Tatsumaki didn't respond for a moment.
With his brow raised, Yagi spoke again, "Are you going to say something?"
"Yagi Toshinori." Tatsumaki said, in a tone that Yagi perceived as somber.
Wait, somber?
Now he was concerned.
"What?" Yagi began to soften his gaze as he leaned forward, "Miss Tornado, are you okay?"
"Okay?" Tatsumaki's fist clenched, "OKAY?!"
Yagi was taken aback by the sudden outburst. But before he could utter another word, Tatsumaki's gaze lifted towards him, and he could see the abundance of tears swimming down her dirt dipped cheeks.
Eh...?
"Thirty years." Tatsumaki said, "Thirty fucking years of being deprived of the one who kept my mental state stable, and you're asking, if I'm okay?"
Yagi cleared his throat, deciding that a more tender approach is necessary, "Tornado, please, if it's something personal, we could perhaps go to a secluded place to talk it out."
"You..still haven't got a clue, haven't you?"
"What-?"
"The last thing you said to me that day," Tatsumaki wiped the tears off her cheeks, "That you 'felt better than you've ever been for the past few days'."
Yagi's eyes began to slowly widen into every direction, the realisation dawned on him.
...
...
Tatsumaki's lips curled delightfully, as she placed both her hands on his shoulder, "...How have you been, you dork?"
