Chapter One: New Neighbors

A/N: For this book Jack Knife's voice won't sound like it does in the regular episodes but like the voice he has in the Golden Grinders episode where he sounds like Jeff from American Dad. I feel it suits his character better so I wanted it to be his voice for the book.

"Yeah mom I'll be back later. Don't worry I'll be careful. Okay I'll see you later. Bye." Alexis says as she hangs up the phone.

"Oof!" Alexis and another person says as the two get knocked to the ground as someone crashes into her.

"Ouch. What'd I hit?" The person says as Alexis sees a brown haired boy.

"Me. That's what you hit." Alexis says annoyedly as she rubs her forehead.

"Oh man. I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going." The boy says as he stands up and offers Alexis his hand.

"I can tell." Alexis says as she takes the boy's hand.

"Sorry." The boy says as he helps Alexis up and gives a guilty look.

"Oh it's alright. No harm done. I've done it myself when I was skating back home." Alexis says as she smiles softly at the boy.

"You skate?" The boy asks as he sees Alexis pick up her board.

"Yeah. I love it. It didn't exactly gain me many friends though. Too many thought I was weird because of it and for a few other things." Alexis says as she smiles shyly.

"You don't seem weird to me. You seem kinda nice. I mean you could of gotten mad that I crashed into you. Most people do." The boy says as he smiles softly.

"Well it was an accident. So I understand." Alexis says as she smiles kindly at the boy.

"I'm happy you do. It's nice to have someone react kindly to an accident for a change. Makes me surprised you don't have any friends." The boy says as Alexis looks down.

"Yeah. I didn't back home and none since I've moved here either." Alexis says.

"Wait. So you're new here?" The boy asks as Alexis nods.

"Yeah. This is my first week here in Sprawl City. So do you live around here?" Alexis asks curiously.

"Yeah. You know I thought I've seen you before. You're the new girl that just moved in across the street from me." The boy says as he smiles.

"So you're the kid that my mom must have been talking about. She said she saw you and your family practicing some routine in the yard." Alexis says as she gives a curious look.

"Oh yeah. My parents are performers so they tend to practice a lot and I help out sometimes." The boy says as he nods.

"Wow. That's pretty cool." Alexis says as she smiles.

"You think so?" The boy asks in surprise.

"Yeah. So uh what's your name?" Alexis asks curiously.

"Jack Knife. What's yours?" The boy asks.

"Alexis Hathaway." Alexis says happily.

"It's nice to meet you Alexis." Jack Knife says happily.

"You too Jack Knife. Well anyway I should be on my way. Let you get back to whatever you were doing." Alexis says.

"I was actually heading to meet my friends at the park. If you want I could introduce you to them. We're a group of skaters called the Wild Grinders and my friends are pretty awesome." Jack Knife says.

"That sounds nice but won't they uh have a problem with me since I'm a girl? I know most guys back home did not like a girl skater." Alexis says nervously as she begins to leave.

"We don't mind that you're a girl. Our friend Flipz is a girl and she's a skater too. Not as good as my friend Lil Rob but still. So would you wanna come?" Jack Knife asks as Alexis stops and looks at him.

"Sure. Sounds like fun." Alexis says as she smiles.

"Awesome. Come on. You're gonna love my friends." Jack Knife says as he and Alexis skate off.

Life story: Alexis was born in the mountains with her mother and her father. She is the only one of her litter. Her parents and pack both were killed when she was 3 by another wolf and his pack. Thanks to her mother she survived the slaughter and was raised by her adoptive family.
