Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the New Emperor. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Destiny, Bungie, and Microsoft does.
(Earth, Red Legion Flagship, Immortal)
To the Cabal? The strength of war was all that mattered, personal power? Their way of life. The ability to conquer and control? Perfection.
When they had learned that the humans had the weapons that matched theirs? They had come with a force that shattered the last city. They had scattered the entire army of humanity to the wind.
Now? It was clear that they had thrown their power against the wrong enemy. Their army was beaten back, humanity rallied with a power that had attacked them hard and cost many soldiers.
The Guardians had sent one of their own to attack their leadership on the imperial flagship. A handful of the best soldiers in their employ hadn't been enough to stop them.
The young Titan looked around at Ghaul and his slain army. The remnants of soldiers that had been in rather fighting him laid around the deck. The ruler of the Cabal laid slain by his hand after conquering galaxies. His power as a warrior was not at all dulled by the fact, he was the ruler of their empire.
He was greeted by a slight noise. The sounds of hatches that had signaled more reinforcements. He discarded his empty rifle and drew his shotgun. His light was damaged, and he didn't expect to be able to escape with his life at the moment. If he was to die here after winning the Red War? He'd do it as a guardian and die on their terms.
Red Legion Legionaries surrounded him, stepping over the bodies of their dead with abandon which made him almost wonder if they cared. They fight with the reckless abandon of monsters.
"The Dominus is dead." One of them stated while they aimed a weapon at the titan who looked at them with scorn.
"The Dominus had challenged him to the ways of old. We know what it means if he lost." The soldier said while he frowned to himself with a sigh. "Bring him to the medical bay and inform the rest of the council. We havevvv fvond the new Dominus." He added with a nod as he waited for one of the others to bring their new master to the flagship's medical bay.
The titan tried to resist them, but he felt too much pain in his body. The battle with their master had drained him too much for him to do anything. It didn't help that he had almost entirely ripped their forces apart at the cost of most of his ammo.
"What do we tell the other commanders?" The Legionary asked which was met by a scowl from his commander.
"Ghaul had challenged the last city to a right of honor." He said to his soldier. "He had lost. The path of clear. He is Dominus of the Cabal now. He is the master of the empire, and his word is now law." The Centurion added with a nod as he did so.
The Legionary slowly carried his new lord towards the healing tanks while he waited for them to awaken. How would they feel to be part of the empire? How would they feel to command thousands of millions of soldiers with the power to bring their entire system to heel? How had it felt to command the power that commanded the rest of the galaxy?
Today they'd find out when it came to it. Today probably marked a new era for their empire and was one that could change their entire future if they were lucky. It had yet to fully set in that things were to be rather different. If they did change? They changed entirely for the better.
Nobody knew what this titan was to bring to their entire future. None of them would know that this soldier had brought the peace that would bring them into a new era of peace and prosperity.
If they had? He probably wouldn't be taken so lightly as their next emperor and master. It'd probably bring harder choices to their table if they had.
The fact that there was still so much for them to do had bothered them despite it comes down to it. He had more to do at this moment.
