Prologue

A guardian…

It's not merely a title, it's an obligation, a duty for anyone that bestowed upon the title of guardian are the protector of The Last City, last cradle of Humanity the last light of human knowledge, culture and their God. They are eternal warriors, watchers and protectors. Mold by the best of the best, forged in the fires of battle, perfected by war. To be a guardian is a burden and an honor.

Every guardian aided by a Ghost, a fusion of spirit and computer aiding every guardian as an assistant whether to scan one's surrounding for danger, to store guns, swords, hand cannons, ammunition or as a mobile lockpick which many ghosts found extremely insulting. To be a guardian you must choose your own path and set for a pilgrimage to improve your knowledge and your skills.

A Titan guardian are unflinching, unwavering, stands tall even in the midst of battle their heart starve to protect the innocent, to bring justice to the enemy by gunning the down or if a Titan feeling fancy CQC. A Titan boasts immense strength, durability and stands tall like a wall. To the innocent the appearance of a Titan symbolizes hope and protection and no other Titan can symbolize these ideas better than Zavala. A vanguard Titan, Zavala are strong in physics and spirit he's for The Last City is the Commander of ALL guardians.

The goal of a Warlock guardian is to gain power, and power could only be gained through knowledge, for Titans, Warlocks are bookworm, scholar, maniac and power-hungry guardians and although most Warlock never venture too deep to their power. Some goes too deep and went mad. However, under Ikora Warlocks starts to gain sympathy and trusts from other guardians and the acknowledge that information, knowledge after all are essential to terminate every threat that will come to The Last City.

In the wilderness there are guardians that acts as scouts, assassins. Hunters they call themselves are solitary by nature, hardly ever travel in a pack more than two or three, hardly seen in The Last City and hard to track down but their allegiance are clear, to The Last City. Hunters are… eccentric away from the eyes of other guardians allowed them to develop their own method of doing their job. Some goes in guns blazing shooting left right and center with accuracy never seen before some get close to their target and kills it silently. Despite their weirdness an unorthodox methos of doing their job, to The Last City Hunters are the first to detect and eliminate any threat.

At least this is what the leader of Hunters Cayde-6 said after being promoted to held the title of Vanguard after losing a bet.

But many have fall in the line of duty, The Red War brought many Guardians to their knees, Commander Zavala, Vanguard Cayde-6, and Vanguard Ikora defeated by Dominus Ghaul's forces, The Cabal. At first all hope seems lost. The protector of The Last City, the God that brought Humanity to the stars, The Traveler, asleep seemingly uncaring for the suffering of their subject. With their leader scattered amongst the stars, their Guardian defeated Humanity enters a new dark age. Or so it seems

But amongst many a Guardian rises, forgotten, weak, helpless and alone but never hopeless. Through his will and might he devise a plan, to gather Zavala, Ikora, and Cayde and launch a counter attack. Killing many Cabals, Fallen, or Vex that stood in his way, he battles many strong warriors and won plenty of battle. Some battle he lost yes, but for him experience is the best teacher through his loses he gain knowledge and with-it victory.

The final assault on Dominus Ghaul brought many of the leader of the Cabal to their end and the death of Dominus Ghaul himself killed by the now awake Traveler. "The Hero of the Red War" they call him, and it is the first of many titles that he collects and soon he became the strongest Guardian, and under Ikora's tutelage the strongest Warlock.

The death of Cayde-6, Guardians best friend, changed him. He became more ruthless to his enemies and focused only to kill the killer of Cayde-6 an Uldren Sov.

It's the first time Zavala, Ikora and everyone else heard his voice, a soft voice akin to murmur but cold and unforgiving. When he found that Uldren Sov tries to resurrect his sister he doesn't give two coins about the other guardians' suggestion. A frontal assault by the Guardian, killing everything and anything, so focused he is in his path of vengeance he soaked the floor in blood. And finally, the two clash…

"Everything I did, I did it for her" Uldren said with a venom in his voice maintaining his innocence and tries to justify his action.

"Do you know which side you're on?" he asks unflinching even when Last Word, Guardian's favorite hand cannon aimed in front of his face.

"Not yours"

The Witness, an amalgamation of many races, left behind by the Traveler and his Black Fleet finally arrived on earth Zavala, Ikora, Guardian, and Osiris tries to stop him and his Black Fleet and despite their best effort and The Guardian Killing the Disciples of the Witness and defeating Emperor Calus, The Witness broke through the defense perimeter of the guardians and opened the veil, walk into it and disappear to the heart of The Traveler.

The disappearance of The Witness brought many changes, many ghosts still able to operate and assist their guardians although they describe the feeling as someone took something away from them. The Guardian betrays no emotion but deep inside he's very concerned toward his Ghost Aria. Both have fought through thick and thin of battles, kills gods, and many other deities their bond unbreakable, unwavering.

To find defeat The Witness is to chase him, however no one knows what happened if you enter The Veil many sought to seek the answer through text, meditation, experiment, research but so far nothing came out. So, the Guardian decided to simply follow The Witness to The Veil.

"You do not have my consent Guardian, we cannot lose you, our greatest warrior in our darkest hour" Zavala said with an extremely stern voice.

"Heed Zavala's order Young Wolf for we do not know what is The Veil and we need more information before entering" Ikora's soft voice echoes Zavala's concern.

"For three months we all have tried to search for the answer and the result? Nothing Ikora, we are not closer to the answer than before. We NEED to take a direct approach" a Ghost, Aria, said. The Vow of Silence made speaking for the Guardian impossible, Aria is his mouthpiece as everything she speaks is his word.

"Look, my dearest Guardian are frustrated, we all are frustrated for our failure to protect The Traveler. But we have made virtually NO PROGRESS at all!" Aria's voice loudens a little bit.

The conversation in The Tower, the headquarter of the guardians are heating up and seeing that Zavala and Ikora are not willing to budge their opinion, The Guardian leaves. And in night after leaving notes, diaries and several letter to the Vanguards he left The Tower.

A bright triangle shaped hole in front of the Traveler is the gateway to The Veil, and in front of it a single space ship standing by.

"It is an honor to fight with you Aria" the Guardian spoke in a hushed tone. "It is mine my dearest Guardian" she replies "I know the one that I chose that day would be the greatest warrior" she adds. And thus, the Guardian and his Ghost plunged themselves in the bright light.

The sound of a machine beeping trying to keep its patient alive, a pair of green eyes opened, looking tired, uncaring and seemingly detached with its surrounding, to the world he's confined in this bed, in this hospital for the last three months. To the world he's a disgrace for not being different, to the world he's a freak, a waste of space, a quirkless.

"So, I have returned..." once a boy named Izuku Midoriya said.
