Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of The Crimson Emperor. Enjoy the 2600-word chapter. I do not own Destiny, Bungie, and Microsoft do.
(Earth, Red Legion Flagship, Immortal)
Grel was used to war he thrived on it, and he was a soldier. A very skilled one and he did his job well as one good enough to act. He was skilled at war and he was very good at causing and fighting it now.
Yet? He could feel a lot more than war as his rifle thrummed with the sounds of battle, shell casings tumbling out of the weapon, knowing what would become of it now. This sort of thing could and would bake them if he was not careful with himself and his ammo.
He fired each round, downing goblin after goblin with such a thing, the chaos he was used to in waves and droves, an idea which he had not yet exhausted.
The sounds of battle seemed to be interesting to him. perhaps it was because of the fact the soldiers next to him were of it. Grel hummed to himself before he clicked his fingers before he hummed as he sighed.
Even then? He could not have allowed himself to be like this, could not have allowed it to have been any different than it could be.
A shot almost took his head off only for a familiar energy shield to deflect it. he glanced at the warrior who had done so, nodding at them as he and the Blood Guard regrouped.
"Does anyone here have a plan?" One stated.
"I do… But it involves luring them back towards the open ground." Grel stated as they blinked. "They have us flanked and they have the ridge. If we stick around? They are going to end up getting the drop on us and overrunning this position… I do not want us to and I do not think you do either." Grel stated before he clicked and he sighed.
Grel was silent before now as he clicked his fingers with annoyance. This sort of fight was getting to him either damn way he tried to deal with it and he knew it, he damn well knew.
All the next moves he made would not be easy, anything he did? Would not at all seem to benefit him at the end of the day, whatever he dealt with next? It would be much more intense than anything he dealt with before.
All he did? All he had done as a titan? It was odder and odder that he did not fight like one, something that he did not relax within now and for good reason at the end of it.
To be dealt with for now as he crashed to the ground, all of it seemed to be dealing with it, all of it was harder and harder, knowing it would be dealing with it for now.
All he could say and all he could do was fight. He would fight and he would do it as well as he had before and with good intentions, Cabal or not. These people were his men, he was their commander and he could not fail them for now.
He sighed as he realized just how royally dead, he was by the facts of the matter. There was going to be hell to pay if he made a mistake.
"Hold your ground!" Grel stated before he flipped over the cover and drew his shotgun. "And clear me a path," Grel stated.
He knew both the Vex's strengths and weaknesses and how best to lead a battle.
The Cabal did so, overlapping their shields to form a phalanx as Grel rushed into their lines. The legionaries of the Red Legion watched as the soldier who had formally been their enemy went to work.
One of the hobgoblins collapsed, a hole blasted in its chest cavity, another had its head decapitated by a shell and the third was punched, Grel's fist shattering its chassis with one hit as he did so.
The Red Legion surged at this, knowing what was going on and knowing damn well that if anything? There was not going to be much left to partake in. Their weapons clacked with fire as micro rockets fired into the Vex ranks.
Grel watched as his men advanced, firing their guns which sent shattered husks of Vex units to the ground. Each one that fell only allowed them a greater advantage.
He could not tell what had happened, he did not know as they crested the hill… But it was clear the Vex had lost the battle, finally retreating as Grel hummed.
"Should we chase them down?" One of the Centurions questioned.
"No. They outnumber us greatly and we'd lose more men if we chased them." Grel stated before he turned. "Secure the wreckage. Report back in an hour… Tend to your wounds and your wounded, we make camp ahead." Grel stated as he sighed to himself.
"Yes, my liege." The centurion stated before beginning to issue orders.
"You carry yourself well for someone who has not fought before." Grel heard as he turned to look over his shoulder.
"I fight because it is what I am good at… Issuing orders and keeping the battle going." Grel was silent at this and very so for a reason, there were a lot of things that needed to be done with for now.
What little needed to be done would be done… And if not? Well, he could handle it himself. He sighed as he realized he was going to need to understand the fact that he and his men were in for a rougher fight than need be now.
He sighed to try and figure out the best way to try and do this.
He was tired and very distracted which did not help at all, did not help even a little bit when he had wished it to be over and done. He was just that damn tired of it all.
The Red Legion could do better… He could make them better, he would have to before it came crashing down sooner or later, the Red Legion belonged to him.
So? He decided they would aid those they could.
"Ca'uor? We bring back what we must Phobos. Then? We get to work studying it. The more we know about the Vex? The more we can do about the Hive." Grel stated as he sighed.
It was clear that the Red Legion Dominus was having trouble adjusting to his duties.
Of all Cabal? Ca'uor knew his liege was going to have trouble. Why? Because he was a guardian asked to run an empire, a ruler forced into the position of strength only one man had done with some measure of control and walked away with it.
He? He had been running loose with control that was ready to fall apart when it all hit the fan and she would continue to let it all come when it was all said and done.
Ca'uor was eager to try and figure it out as she paused to try and figure it out once more. He seemed to think of what was growing on as she wished to think of what was growing to be dealt with.
Both were eager to try and figure it out as it came down once more as he grouped up and clicked his fingers. Ca'uor hummed before he sighed once more.
Ca'uor seemed to be done once more. He and the Dominus walked towards a Harvester as they prepared once again to return to the Immortal.
It was clear to them… All of them, that such actions were not going to help at the end of the time being as she looked downwards as she wished to be done and dusted as it came down once more.
He seemed to keep growing more and more as she wished to be done and dusted. He and his looked to the side as he grew more and more.
"Are you going to be ok at the moment?" Ca'uor asked to which Grel hummed to which he could have thought once again.
Grel seemed to think of what was to occur before she looked once. Grel was tired, too tired as he rubbed his temples and then smirked once more.
Grel was eager to get to work once more as he paused to think of what was growing more and more in his mind.
He was eager to deal with his matters sooner and sooner as it was all over for them. Grel sighed and boarded the gunship with Ca'uor as it was all recalled.
The two Legion officers were tired, both had work at the end of the time.
All his options were going to be involving paperwork now and for good reason at the end of it again. He had no end of vexing himself at the time being more and more.
He did not even know about it all now when push came to shove… A lot of different things were going on when it all came down the line.
Still? He had a LOT of problems now… Something about it all became harder and harder with it all becoming harder and harder at the time being.
He did not wish to figure it out now… Such was life and life seemed odd. He seemed more tired than anything and he could tell that now.
"I need you to do something for me when we return for the moment… We need supplies and we need to make sure the Vex does not know what is going on… Now? I cannot understand if there is a problem." Grel said.
The Red Legion officer nodded and lay his head down, reminding them just how much they were able to relax… Well, he could relax a BIT now but they did have work to do.
"As you wish, my liege…" Ca'uor said to which Grel hummed.
Part of Dominus was conflicted on whether he should have set things differently, splitting up his forces now was not going to do a lot for them all… Granted? The opposite would be to keep them all in one group which did not allow them to seize what they needed at the same time.
He was annoyed at this but not MASSIVELY when it came down to it now and for good reason, such was life and life was good enough to taste.
He hummed to himself, tired at the end of the day before she looked to the side. Something about it all was annoying him and he would consider all options if he tried.
He had to do better so he would and he had to surpass it all now when it was all said and done… Something about it all became harder and harder to focus on.
Grel was all too interested… Partly because she knew WAY too much to have found it entertaining. Not to her, no… But she was not stupid, they had PLENTY more work to do next before it came crashing down.
He did not want it all tossed to the side, something about it all came crashing down when it was all said and done. He sighed before now.
Something about it ALL became harder and harder with it all for now, something that needed to be done and for a good reason. They had a LOT more to deal with it for now.
Grel looked over to him before Ca'uor as both were able to be done when it was all said and done… Something about it all became harder and harder to figure out now for now.
Something about it all came crashing to the ground… Something else would be done now and for good reason, they all had work to deal with it for now as he paused it to have been done now.
They had a LOT more to do now… Something within him was eager to see this done, to see him handle it properly… Now? Now he had been eager to think and act.
Grel was tired, worn down, he was beaten to hell and back and all of it was harder and harder to think of now, harder to relax… Something about it all was bugging him.
All of it was harder and harder and harder now than it should have been. Something with it all had been harder to deal with now and for good reason.
Grel hummed, ready to fight and the rest of the Red Legion was eager to fight.
"Ca'uor? The war against the Vex and the Hive cannot be won so easily… So? I am entrusting you with a goal that I find might be beyond either of us to handle… Still? I need it done, because if it is not? I fear we will ALL be screwed." Grel stated with obvious annoyance.
Grel looked up at the fleet above. It was clear if he wanted? He could have the planet turned to ash, blotted out by the guns of a thousand warships.
The problem? He could destroy the entire solar system if he wished… But it would not stop the enemy, it would not allow them the mercy of it all.
Still? Grel was not stupid, they could not beat the Hive through mortal means, and they could not triumph through cannon fire. The only way they would win was to toss themselves at the enemy and hope… Pray, that they were able to win the coming fight, hope that they could manage something.
Grel hummed a LOT more as he returned past the columns of Red Legion Legionaries, glaring at them as they stared at him, eager to know what his plans were, eager to know what they intended now.
Still? Grel smirked at them back and forth. Something about the coming battle filled him with an energy he rarely was able to settle, able to project… Now? Now he simply plotted revenge for the enemy, something about it all had him eager to fight.
If for no other reason than the work they had to do? He was too ready to deal with such an issue. They had work to do so he would have done so.
Something about it all had been harder and harder for the group to deal with. Now? Now they had little to nothing when it came down the line, little to nothing at the end of the line for them to handle.
Ca'uor turned and then left, curious as to HOW this would end and HOW his master planned to execute it all now… Something within that time frame was harder and harder still to imagine now.
It was just… Odd as to it being executed at the time being at the time idea as it was all said and done for now.
They had something to deal with for now and good reason at the time being… He and them all were too thrown off when it had been too distracted for now…
Something about it all had been enough now when it came down.
Something about them all had been too interested at the time being… They had been too relaxed… Grel sighed and then shook his head before they had to understand.
