The group ran a great distance before they all crumbled to the ground exhausted. Kaleigh had a hand clench her shirt where her heart was as she gasped for air. Her legs throbbed from running for so long. Judy and Hue were also panting along with the pokemon.
"W-What were th-those things?" Kaleigh huffed out as she glanced over at Hue and Judy. "Th-at was a-a Haunter and it-it grabbed more Gastly's and Haunter's to attack us!" Hue commented slowly catching his breath.
"Wait a sec." Judy added as she looked at Kaleigh. This made Kaleigh look at Judy before the two looked at her unbound hands and then up at each other again.
"RIOLU RUN!" Kaleigh shouted before she got up to run away once again with Riolu slightly ahead of her. Her legs wobbled slightly underneath her. "Get her!" Judy yelled as she quickly returned Nidoqueen before she got up to chase after Kaleigh. Hue watched the three run away and groaned as he slowly got up returning his Nidoking.
"Why!?" Hue cried out before running after them.
As the sun started to come up Kaleigh was happy to find the town up ahead. She glanced behind her at the two slowly gaining up to her.
"Riolu, use bullet punch on that tree to bloke their way!" Kaleigh commanded. Riolu looked back at Kaleigh then over to the trees and focused some energy into his paws before rapidly attacking the tree trunk till it fell over on the path, barely missing Kaleigh as she ran into the town. Kaleigh stopped running and looked back at the entrance to the town.
"Riolu?" Kaleigh's eyes glanced around for her pokemon. Riolu hopped over the tree and ran over to her. She smiled at him and the two walked away listening to Judy and Hue yell at each other.
Kaleigh returned Riolu to his pokeball as she walked. It was clear that her missing poster had made it all over Kanto. With this, she tried to keep her distance from everyone and kept her head tilted down slightly to hide her face.
Wondering the town she came to a big gated area and peeked inside. She walked in and could faintly hear voices. She slowly inched forward following the sound until she found two people talking. They were both males but one was dressed all in black while the other was dressed like a ninja. The man in black was taller with tan skin and short black hair, he was holding something to show the other man who had a scarf around his neck and spiky black hair.
"I am currently searching for this young lady. Have you seen her?" The man in black questioned, his voice and posture told Kaleigh that he must be some big business owner.
"No I haven't sir, but I have seen many flyers posted about her missing." Kaleigh gasped softly and quickly hid around the corner while she covered her mouth as she realized they were talking about her. The eyes of the man in the ninja outfit shifted quickly to the quiet sound. "I just want to be left alone! why. Why?!" Kaleigh thought angrily
"Koga?" Kaleigh heard the man in black say, but there was no response. Fearing that Koga was going to find her she hastily moved from her spot and out of the gated area. As she ran out she bumped into someone.
"Watch where your-" The screeching voice paused as Kaleigh opened her eyes to Hue and Judy who were staring back at her.
"Quick grab her!" Judy screeched out as Kaleigh scrambled to her feet and ran away. "Leave me alone!"
Kaleigh ran out of the town passing a sign that said Route 15. She could hear Hue and Judy yelling at her as they chased her down the path. Tired from lack of sleep and the amount of running she had done, she knew the two would catch her in no time. Hue reached out his hand to grab Kaleigh's hair to stop her when he was attacked by stars.
Hue and Judy skid to a stop as an Eevee landed between them and Kaleigh. Kaleigh looked back as she ran and stopped. Watching the little pokemon with the rounded cream tip on its tail made Kaleigh think back to the day she helped an Eevee that looked just like it.
"EEVEE!" The pokemon cried warningly at Hue and Judy. The two looked at each other and started to laugh.
"This tiny thing thinks it can defeat us?" Judy laughed as she reached for her pokeball. But Eevee turned around and was quick to kick sand at them before running passed Kaleigh who had watched quietly.
"Vee vee!" Eevee called at Kaleigh, who then followed the little pokemon. Kaleigh followed Eevee as it turned into an airport and ran inside. Kaleigh on the other hand paused at the doors already seeing her posters inside. Glancing behind her she saw Judy and Hue running towards her. Kaleigh quickly ran in and looked around for Eevee, she skid to a stop as sweat rolled down the side of her face. She looked around the airport for the little Eevee but could only find people staring at her. She took a step back as she noticed some Machokes were pointed towards Kaleigh.
Hearing the automatic doors open Kaleigh looked back at the entrance and saw Hue and Judy huffing and puffing as they glanced around. Once their eyes met Kaleigh looked back to the Machoke's who were closing in. "No, no, no, no, NO! Why did I follow it in here?!" Kaleigh thought.
"EEVEE!"
Kaleigh turned her head and saw the little pokemon jump into a hole in the wall behind the counter where the bags were going. Taking one last look at the Machokes, Hue and Judy Kaleigh dashed towards the counter and dived for the hole. Kaleigh slid down a metal chute and crashed into a suitcase.
"Ow, ow, ow." Kaleigh slowly sat up on the conveyor belt that was taking the suitcases to be scanned and transferred to the correct airplane. She looked around for a moment at how everything was working.
"Wow." Kaleigh was amazed at the sight. "Vee Eevee!" The voice drew Kaleigh's attention back to the problem at hand as she turned her head towards Eevee. She watched as the little pokemon jumped into a bin of suitcases. Figuring she should follow she got up, placing her hands out for balance as the floor beneath her moved she started to make her way around. She hopped onto the conveyor belt next to her, falling onto her side as the change in direction and angle of the floor knocked her over.
"How did it get down there?" Kaleigh questioned herself as she pushed herself back up. She continued to move down the belt stepping over suitcases and bufflebags. Once she figured she was close enough to the ground she jumped.
Kaleigh landed into a crouch position staying low while she moved over to the bin with Eevee inside. "Eevee?" She questioned quietly. Eevee poked its head out of the bin and smiled at Kaleigh who smiled slightly back. "Thanks for the help."
"Machoke find her!" Kaleigh heard a voice call out making the two duck down again. "Eev" Eevee whispered looking at Kaleigh before it hopped out of the bin and snuck out of the big opening. Kaleigh spotted one Machoke and waited until it was looking away before she crawled out. She followed Eevee to another conveyor belt and hopped into a plane. Kaleigh stopped at the conveyor belt looking up at the plane with wide eyes.
"Wh- Eevee I-" Kaleigh stammered as she grew anxious about getting into something she knew nothing about. Eevee poked its head up to look at Kaleigh. "Eev eevee!" Kaleigh looked back at the building then back at the conveyor belt and slowly got on. Her hands shook slightly as she stepped onto the plane's cargo pit. The two hid themselves behind on luggage and waited for the the search to die before getting off.
Kaleigh looked around at her surroundings as she slowly wrapped her arms around herself. Not because she was cold but because her gut was telling her to get out of there. Eevee sat next to Kaleigh and watched her with its head tilted before Riolu popped out of his pokeball. It was quick to hug Kaleigh and pat her back. Turning to look at the two pokemon Kaleigh let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding.
"Th-Thank you, Riolu." Kaleigh stuttered slightly. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath in before letting it out in an attempt to calm her nerves. That was until the hatch to the cargo hold was closed and a loud hum started up.
"W-What! No, no, no, no, I want out!" Kaleigh shouted as she got up to go to the door. Eevee and Riolu followed her over and watched as Kaleigh tried to open the door but couldn't. Riolu placed a paw on her arm trying to calm her down.
"Riolu, lu…" Riolu could feel Kaleigh's body shake as her breathing grew ridged. Slowly, Kaleigh turned around and opened her shaky arms out to Riolu, who was quick to answer the request. She held Riolu as a few tears escaped and rolled down her face.
"Vee…" Eevee moved closer and jumped onto its hind legs, its front paws braced it up on Kaleigh's shoulder as it leaned in and licked Kaleigh's cheek, trying to comfort the girl. The three stayed huddled together until Kaleigh had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
