Jack and Gaines quickly take cover inside the old office building. Tony sees what's going on and takes cover himself. He calls Jack.

Jack: Tony, do you see who's firing on us?
Tony: No, but I can get a read on their position.
Jack: Okay, Gaines and I will distract them and you can sneak up on them.
Tony: Sounds like a plan.

Gaines knew that Jack had lied by bringing Tony into this.

Gaines: I said noone but you.
Jack: I didn't trust you. And right now Tony Almeida is our best chance of either of us leaving here alive.
Gaines: Fine, what do you need from me?
Jack: I will do everything I can to protect you. But if I fail, I want the location of the chip.
Gaines: If I die, I don't care what happens.

Kim and Mary sit together awkwardly at the hospital, when Danielle arrives. Kim goes to see her old friend.

Kim: What are you doing here?
Danielle: I heard what happened to Jamal, I wanted to make certain you were okay.
Kim: Thank you, I'll be fine. Thanks for coming.
Danielle: What are friends for?

Mary saw Kim talking to her old "friend." At the moment it gives Mary another reason not to like her daughter in law.

Dave and Rebecca wait anxiously for Carl Webb to arrive. They plan to secretly record Webb, hopefully he'll confess to involvement in blackmailing Horace. This recording isn't sanctioned by any court, but Rebecca's experience in politics tells her that if this recording is made public the truth will come out. Dave knows he's going to prison when this is all over, but maybe he can at least partly redeem himself before that happens.

Tony estimates there are at east six shooters in the abandoned building across the street. Gaines is adament that they not bring CTU into this, but it's only a matter of time before the police are called in because of the gunshots. This neighborhood is practically abandoned, but the police will come eventually. Tony fears that the shooters will get more desperate, but he has to take that chance to prevent the next terrorist attack.
