At dinner, the talk between Izuku and his parents about internships was…long. Very long with a lot of going back and forth on the idea of Izuku interning in America. It was practically unheard of for a first-year student to intern out of country, especially if it was their first one. Inko was hesitant to say the least about letting her son go to another country for Hero work. Hisashi was more open and supportive of the idea, saying it would make for a great opportunity for Izuku to learn how Pro Heroes of different countries worked. Unbeknownst either Inko or Izuku, Hisashi was asked to encourage Izuku to go out-of-country by Mr. Continuum. For what reason is not yet known to the father. Convincing UA to let Izuku go was another challenge. It took some convincing for some of the staff, especially Eraserhead, to allow this international internship, but eventually, all parties agreed to let Izuku intern with Captain Celebrity in America.

While accepting the offer was easy, preparing for it would be an issue. First off, Izuku needed to get a passport, as he had never been out of the country prior. It wasn't that difficult, just long and boring. Second was the language barrier. The United States primarily spoke English, and who knew how many fluent Japanese speakers Captain Celebrity had on his payroll. Izuku did have an advantage compared to his classmates. He did taught himself how to understand English through watching old interviews of All Might during the Hero's years in America. He wasn't as fluent as, say, the horned American girl in class 1-B, but Present Mic's lessons did give him enough skills to carry on a conversation. The last major hurdle was the time difference. Musutafu and New York were in wildly different time zones. That means if Izuku wanted to arrive around the same time to his internship as his classmates, he would need to leave either late at night or early in the morning. It did put a damper on Izuku's mood, not being able to wish his friends good luck as they all left together. But that is how it is sometimes.

The flight itself wasn't too bad, but it was long. Really long. An over 10-hour flight is nothing to scoff at. Even Izuku's conditioning, plus the times he had to walk to the bathroom, could not prepare him for the jetlag he felt. By the end, Izuku felt like he hit a level of sluggishness not met by any man before or after. Stretching while waiting for his luggage to come in offered some reprieve, but it already seemed like he faced one of his toughest challenges in this internship.

After leaving baggage claim and following the sharp turns of the airport, Izuku made it out to the open lobby. Looking over the vast arena full of people arriving and departing, he saw a sign that had his name in both written English and Japanese. Heading down, Izuku found the two men under the sign. One was a regular looking Japanese guy, and the other seemed to embody every American secret government agent look imaginable.

"Are you Izuku Midoriya?" The secret agent man said in English.

"Yes," Izuku said, his voice a bit higher than normal due to nervousness.

"Follow us then."

As the three of them left, Izuku could hear the other guy tell the agent, "See, I told you he could speak English. I don't understand why you needed me here?"

Izuku followed the two through the crowded airport and over to the entrance. There was a black SUV waiting for them. The agent got in on the right side while Izuku and the other guy got into the middle. Another agent guy was at the wheel, and he didn't say anything at all during the trip.

They drove from JFK Airport and took the road towards Manhattan. Izuku marveled at the city skyline along with other sights he saw on his trip through Long Island.

"So, how good's you're English?" The man said in Japanese.

"Oh, um, pretty good, I guess?" Izuku answered.

"Good, because you do not want what happened to me happen to you."

"What happened?" Izuku asked intrigued.

"Well, it started on my first day as a Pro Hero in New York."

"Wait, so you were originally not from here? Where are you from?"

"I started out in Naruhata. You?"

"Musufatu."

"Neat. Now, where was I? Oh, right!" The man resumed his story. "So, it's my first day here, and Captain Celebrity and I just saved this plane from crashing into the city. I was then swarmed by all these reporters. They start asking me questions, but I didn't know English very well back then. So I tried just to get by with this phase a friend whose really good at marketing gave to me. Then, this drunk guy brought up something up from my previous job, and like I said, I didn't understand English, and I was still going with the phrase. So, in the end, I…accidentally implied I was going to smash Wall Street."

"What?!"

"I'm serious! That's what happened!" The man slumped back into his chair after finishing his story. "Man, it took forever to get my reputation out of the gutter after that. I'm pretty sure some of my co-workers still hold that against me because it was such a PR nightmare."

"Anyway, I'm Koichi Haimawari," He said, extending his hand. "Once we're suited up, just call me the Skycrawler. You know, secret identities and all that."

"Izuku Midoriya. Hero name: Deku," Izuku completed the handshake. "So, what are we going to do when we get to Captain Celebrity's Hero Agency?"

"Once we arrive at the Captain Celebrity Corporation building, the Captain will give you your schedule for the week." The secret agent guy spoke up for the first time during the whole ride.

"And probably some sleep. That plane ride couldn't have been comfortable." Skycrawler said.

Izuku's tired sigh was his answer.

The car ride took far shorter than the plane ride, but it felt like it dragged on. Not only thanks to Izuku's exhaustion but also dealing with NYC traffic. Guess that's how life is in the Big Apple. Eventually, they arrived at the Captain Celebrity Tower located in the heart of Manhattan. The tour was short, mainly because Izuku looked like he was going to drop from sleep exhaustion. After a quick showing to his room, Izuku plopped down on the bed and went out like a light.

The next morning, Captain Celebrity gave Izuku a quick tour of the offices. The highlight was meeting the other Pro Heroes employed by the Captain. There was The Shade, a dark, cowled hero who was actually quite friendly when not on the clock, Safeguard, a tall, well-built woman whose Quirk allowed her to create large shields from upper forearms, Quickstep, a young, lithe woman with super speed, Neptune, a boisterous man with hydrokinesis, and Gateway, a man with the ability to open green portals channeled through his staff. Them, along with Captain Celebrity and Skycrawler, made up the "A team" of the Captain's Pro Hero business. Out of all of them, Gateway was the one who stood out due to the weird aura around him. While he was polite and welcoming like all the other heroes, there was one thing he said that stood out to Izuku.

"I see," he said mostly to himself, but Izuku was still able to hear, "You are the one who will bring great change to the world."

Strange.

The rest of the day was not quite as perplexing though. Izuku was introduced to the rest of the interns. They were other Heroes-in-training just like him. It was difficult to fully understand his peers' slang and in-jokes due to his not quite perfect understanding of the English language. However, he was able to bond with those who were fellow Hero nerds just like him. As for activities, well, he did boring intern stuff. He was given a quick overview of the administrative offices and was then sent to do busy work. Sure, it was not bad hearing some of the senior members thanking him for shredding outdated papers or organizing files, but Izuku hoped to do more than just office work in his limited time here in America.

Keeping up with his friends in Japan was not as challenging as he thought it would be. Sure, he was late in replying and texting about his experiences, but there would be some of his friends still up to chat with him. Even though it was probably late at night in Japan, and they needed all the sleep they can get for their internships.

After a mediocre first official day, Izuku's spirits were high when he got word that Captain Celebrity would be training with him one on one! The Captain explained that Izuku and the rest of the interns would be split among the pro-hero that best compliment their Quirks and would train under them. Izuku and Captain Celebrity would head out for a forest in upstate New York and would begin their training there. After a morning where Izuku was positively bounding with energy and excitement, the time came. A couple hour drive up north and a small walk led to Captain Celebrity and Deku alone in a forest.

"Alright, kid," Captain Celebrity began while stretching. "Today, we're going to test your Quirk in new ways."

"I am ready, sir!" Izuku answered.

"Good, love to hear that. Now, first question, what are some similarities in our Quirks?"

"Um, we both utilize telekinesis, sir."

"Yeah, you're right," the Captain said while strolling over to a large rock in the ground. "However, it's in the way we use it that makes us different. See, I got tactile telekinesis, which means my Quirk comes out when I make physical contact with objects."

The Captain, whose full name was Christopher Skyline from what Izuku learned, picked up the rock with one hand and lifted it over his head. It was a pretty large rock, big enough for the muscular Captain to lay on it and not have any part of him dangling off. Yet, with Chris's Quirk, he was holding it like one held a beach ball.

"Yours, from what I've been told, mostly rely on your brain. Here, catch."

Captain Celebrity lightly tossed the large rock over to Izuku. Now, if Izuku was any plain old human, he'd run away to not get crushed. Izuku instead grasped the rock with his telekinesis, holding his hands out like he was gripping it. Izuku then set the rock down on the ground gently.

"Okay, okay, I'm starting to see the picture here." Captain Celebrity remarked. "Now, Izuku, I've also read that you can use your telekinesis to increase your strength, correct?"

"Yes, sir. I mainly use it to either increase the power of my blows or strengthen my defenses."

"Alright, now let's try and apply it for something else. I want you to use that technique, but instead of striking power, I want you to use it to increase your lifting power and pick up that same rock with your hands."

Izuku nodded and approached the rock. Coating himself in his power, Izuku tried to grasp under it and lift it. It was a struggle. It felt like he was only moving himself, or that he would accidentally break the rock off piece by piece. However, Izuku tried a slight change to his strategy. Instead of only coating himself in his telekinesis, he spread it out amongst his own body and the rock. With his telekinesis controlling both body and mineral, Izuku was able to lift the rock with his own hands.

For a first attempt, it went well enough. Except that Izuku's form was growing unstable by the second. Izuku rocked back and forth trying to keep his stance steady, but in the end, he had to drop the rock back onto the ground.

"I'm sorry, sir," Izuku said panting. "I was trying to keep it steady, but it felt like I was unbalanced, and I dropped it."

"Hey, take it easy kid," Chris reassured him. "Just shows you're not used to working your Quirk in that way. And in any case, you don't need my help to show you how to lift things with your Quirk. You've already got a strong way of doing that all on your own."

"I…thank you, Captain Celebrity, sir."

"Now, onto the next part of this exercise, flying. You have flown using your own Quirk, right?"

"Yes. I have."

"Ever measured how high you few?"

"Oh," Izuku took a moment to think. "I haven't officially measured, but I would say around…maybe 200 meters into the air?"

"And that would be…" Chirs muttered to himself before resuming in his usual tone of voice. "Okay, so you haven't flown that high yet. Not to worry, I'll be here to help you fly higher than ever before!"

"Really?"

"Sure! And I'm hoping your time here would go towards your flying license in Japan."

"My flying license, sir?" Izuku asked.

"Oh, right!" Chris said. "If a Hero is able to fly up to a certain point, they are in need to register and eventually receive a flying license. This is to ensure that a Hero would be able to navigate the skies and avoid any head on collisions with birds, planes, and other Heroes. Trust me, it's not as tough as you think."

"Ooooh, I get it." Izuku nodded. "I guess there's just not a lot of Pro Heroes in Japan who have the ability or need to get one."

"Yeah, flight Quirks are not super common, but there are enough around to have laws passed for them. Now, for this exercise, I'm going to give it to you very simple."

"Yes, sir, I'm ready for it!"

"Okay," Captain Celebrity posed. "I want you to fly up as high as you can."

"…And?"

"That's the gist of it."

"Really?" Izuku raised an eyebrow.

"Well, no, not really," Chirs elaborated. "This is just a test to measure how well your body reacts to the changing air pressure the higher you go. Certain Quirks allow people to go higher and faster than others. I want to know how your Quirk will protect you."

"I understand."

"And Izuku, if you feel like it becomes harder to breathe or anything of the sort, come down immediately. You don't need to push yourself when the situation doesn't call for it."

Izuku nodded and began to float. Before shooting off into the sky, he asked Captain Celebrity one last question.

"Are you not going to follow me up?"

"I will, just at a further distance. After all, this is supposed to test how you feel about flying on your own."

Izuku nodded, tensed his muscles, and then rocketed up towards the sky. Skyline followed lazily behind him. Izuku was pushing faster and farther than he had gone before. The wind whipped in his face as he soared. Izuku let out a mighty "Whoo-hoo!" as he ascended the heavens. Off to the side, Captain Celebrity was tracking Izuku's progress, as well as looking out for any airborne traffic.

Izuku pushed higher and higher until, as Captain Celebrity noted, he was getting really close to breaking the friction layer. The Captain watched as Izuku flew higher and higher until finally, Izuku broke though the 1 kilometer boundary. Almost immediately, Izuku's ascent stopped, and he quickly began to free fall. Skyline, noticing this immediately, raced towards the falling teen. Just as he was about to catch the intern, Izuku suddenly regained control and flew down in a graceful arc. Captain Celebrity was quick to greet him.

"Are you alright?" Skyline asked.

Izuku nodded, shivering all the while. "Y-Yes, sir. It's just…really cold up there."

Captain Celebrity let out a sigh of relief. "Well, at least we know what we can add some insulation to your next costume."

"Yeah. It was just so…amazing up there. Like I could go anywhere and do anything. That I can be as free as I wanted to be. Is that what it's like up there, Captain Celebrity?"

"Well, I won't deny there's something magical up there. Now then, take 5 because this little excursion isn't over yet."

The two spent hours training and testing Izuku's power in new ways. Eventually, they had to return back to the tower. Izuku had that giddy energy to him. Here he was, actually learning how to use his powers from Pros who knew what his skillset was. Sure, he didn't disregard the lessons from All Might and the rest of the UA teachers. But it was nice to learn from someone who had similar experiences with their Quirks. After a quick afternoon and evening of doing more office work and more exploration of Manhattan, Izuku went to bed satisfied. Sure, the internships were not like what anyone was expecting, but there was progress on developing his skills for his future career. Izuku thought that this internship would be over and done before he knew it.

But, as anyone in the Pro Hero business would tell you, life never goes the way you expect it.

And that is it! First couple of days of Izuku's internship and some limit testing! However, next time, Izuku will learn that he can't just cruise this internship. There's always something happening to disrupt the peace!

First off, I want to apologize for the long wait. Once again, school was dragging me down, and it was always hard to find time to write for this. Second, man, this site has been crazy. It took a while for me to fix 's email notifications, so I probably missed a lot of people interacting with my stories. Third, I apologize for reuploading chapters 16 and 17 all of a sudden on y'all. Like I stated, I had to change one of my OC's names in order to not rip off a certain comic character so blatantly. So, apologizes for reuploading with not much new.

Next off, references! Captain Celebrity's "A team" are all based off JL characters. The rest of the Celebrity interns and the "B team" will be explored next chapter, which will include more references to the Big Two. Lastly, the "flying liscence" is taken wholeheartedly from Avatar Conner's MHA/Invincible crossover. Because of course a world like MHA would have a license for flying Quirks.

And now, for the comments.

22StoryReader22: I thought that little inclusion would bring out some reactions. Like the sentence implied, Izuku isn't on a course to turn out like Andrew due to having more positive influences on his life. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Matt will not be feature in the present day during this story. Chronicle took place in 2012, and MHA's story is implied to take place years into the future. By this story's time, Matt is long dead.

AnimeFan13579: Yes, all good points. However, that aspect won't be touched up too much because it would take all the fun out of this story.

Ranger McAleer: Thanks. To be fair, nobody really had a superhero name in Chronicle that I could take. Plus, Chronical just doesn't really fit with Izuku's overall aesthetic.

PhoenixHarbinger: Okay.

Guest #1: Yes, I am sorry about that. I had to change the name in the author notes, and I did not figure out how to properly replace a deleted chapter when I made it.

Ryubar Tepes: Thank you for the insightful comments. Your analysis of Bakugo's rant does bring up some interesting points that I hadn't considered. I know MHA's author stated he regretted making Bakugo so harsh in the early chapters, but what's done is done, I suppose.

djbootyllama: Well, first off, I didn't give Izuku OFA. I did an author's note explaining why I didn't give him OFA. Still, what's done is done. Thank you for the compliment, and I'm sorry you lost interest in this story.

Guest #2: Okay, I have read that some stories on here were uploaded to YouTube without any permission. However, the link seems to not work for me? Maybe the video or uploader got taken down already, but in any case, it's good to be let known when your work was taken wrongly.

That's all for now. See ya next time!
