Olivia leans her head down to look at him, "El?" She senses that Elliot is spiraling, that he is trying to collect himself before he says anything he might regret. A minute passes by and Elliot has still not spoken. Olivia tries to take her comment back, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. I-"
"Stop," Elliot exclaims.
"Elliot I-" Olivia tries to continue.
"Olivia, will you just stop talking!"
"Okay…"
"I need to know… You're ready… You're ready for me… For us… You're ready?"
Olivia continues to sit in silence as she waits for permission to speak. Shooting a glare a her, Elliot motions for her to answer him. She stammers, "I- I'm ready, Elliot."
"And you mean it?" Elliot continues to seek confirmation.
"Elliot," Olivia puts her hand on top of his that rests on the steering wheel, "I'm ready."
The GPS blares, "IN 500 FEET TURN LEFT. THEN TURN LEFT AGAIN."
Ignoring the GPS Elliot asks in a low voice, "Why now?"
Olivia barely registers his voice. Truthfully, she can't pinpoint why at that exact moment she decided to tell him that she was ready. She gives a short answer, "I don't know."
"I'm going… I'm leaving… Why now?"
"I said I don't know!" Olivia exclaims in frustration. She thinks, 'Why is the timeline so important?'
Elliot huffs, "I'm leaving…"
"I realize that," Olivia takes deep breaths to escape her frustration.
"How?..."
"How what, Elliot?"
"How am I supposed to be able to leave now? You're ready. I'm ready. And somehow there is still something pulling us apart!"
"You're coming back. You're not leaving for another 10 years. I will see you again."
"Olivia," Elliot takes a breath and thinks about his wording. Trying to scare her away, he states, "Olivia, I don't think you understand."
Rolling her eyes in greater frustration, "What do I not get?"
"Not a day that goes by that I don't think about you, Olivia. I wasted too many years not being near you, not being with you, and not being able to love you the way I really want to. How am I supposed to just get up and walk away when we are finally on the same page? I'm gonna come back and be on the same page I am now, but you are gonna be seven chapters ahead," Elliot catches his breath and continues, "Olivia, you don't understand how badly I want to spend every waking and sleeping moment with you…"
Olivia's jaw drops farther and farther down. She was prepared for a small proclamation of love, but she was not expecting this. Managing to get one word in, her voice quivers, "El…"
Elliot continues, "I don't think I'm physically to leave. I love you too much, Olivia." He realizes what he said, but continues, "I loved you so much twelve years ago that I had to leave, but I love you so much now… I can't leave."
Like the beginning of the car ride the tunes of Etta James' 'At Last' filter through the car's stereo. Finding peace in the smooth vocals, Olivia tries to breathe. The GPS bellows, "IN 1,000 FEET, TURN RIGHT INTO YOUR DESTINATION."
Turning right, Elliot glances over at Olivia. Olivia, still unable to speak, leans back in her seat with tears welling in her eyes. Pulling into the local precinct's parking lot, he shifts the car from 'D' to 'P.' Elliot turns his head to look at Olivia. She notices his gaze softening. Elliot reaches out and grasps her hands. Still making eye contact he asks softly, yet directly, "When this is all over, I would like to take you out for dinner."
Olivia smiles brightly and nods her head a tear escapes her eye, "I would like that a lot."
"Good…" Elliot continues to squeeze Olivia's hands. The pair are interrupted by an agent knocking on the driver's side window. Letting go of Olivia's hand he motions to the agent that they are on their way inside. Elliot smiles and contently asks, "You ready, Captain?"
"I've been ready, Detective," Olivia giggles to herself as she unbuckles herself and exits the car.
Entering the building Olivia's phone announces, "ARRIVED AT DESTINATION. JOURNEY COMPLETE."
Olivia swipes her phone open and shuts the directions off, thinking to herself, 'Journey complete…'

A/N: Thank you all for the support you have shown for my story. If you would like a sequel to this, I would be more than happy to get started on it. If I were to make a sequel it would probably be about their date, the night after, and all that domestic stuff that comes with it. I love reading your reviews!
