"System, set the following simulation prompt: 'In my next simulation, I want to join the academy and become a genjutsu master, focusing on genjutsu that alters time perception.'"
[Ding! Prompt set.]
"Ok, start simulation"
[Ding! Starting simulation. Simulation performed.]
Another scroll identical to the first 2 appeared in my hands. The first storage area contained a scroll annotated "Simulation 3 diaries". I moved this to the "Diaries" area of my "main" scroll. The second storage area contained four scrolls, titled "Genjutsu", "Nature Manipulation", "Chakra Theory" and "Jutsu Creation".
Inside the "Genjutsu" scroll were 3 huge books on genjutsu, containing exercises with information and hints on each exercise. Another 3 decades added to my training schedule. The scroll also contained a box with objects to help with the training, like bells, a flute or a chakra ring. I moved the "Genjutsu" scroll to the "Learning Materials" area of my main scroll and checked the next one out.
Inside the "Nature Manipulation" scroll were just a few pages with exercises on each nature transformation. I moved the 2 booklets I already had on earth and lightning release inside the "Nature Manipulation" scroll and moved it inside the "Learning Materials" area. The "Chakra Theory" and "Jutsu Creation" only had one booklet each with information on their respective subjects. They were also moved inside the "Learning Materials" storage area.
The 3rd area of my new scroll had "Jutsus" written above it. Opening it I found 5 scrolls titled "Ninjutsu", "Taijutsu", "Genjutsu", "Bukijutsu", "Medical Ninjutsu" and "Fuuinjutsu". Opening the "Ninjutsu" storage scroll, I found multiple other scrolls, one of which made me very happy. It's title was "Shadow Clone". I now had instructions on the shadow clone jutsu. Reading the scroll, I realized I needed chunin level chakra to perform it.
I sealed all the jutsus back in their scroll, took my main scroll, wrote "Jutsus" above the third storage area and put all the jutsu scrolls inside. Then I named the fourth area "Weapons" and moved all the storage scrolls containing weapons inside. The fifth I named valuables and moved all my valuables inside. The sixth I named "Miscellaneous" and moved everything else inside.
Then I moved back to the scroll obtained from the third simulation. The fourth storage area contained a few bingo books, and information compiled by my simulation self on different ninjas from the village, and a few from outside the village. I moved everything in the "Miscellaneous" section. The fifth area contained 2 wooden bo staffs, both with chakra metal decorations across them, and with 2 bells made of chakra metal attached to each. These were probably my main weapon and my spare weapon. I moved them both in my "Weapons" section and checked the sixth and last storage area. It contained 16 empty normal storage scrolls. I used them to to better organize everything in my main scroll.
After finishing with the organization, I checked the tl;dr diary of my third simulation. I started the second simulation by joining the academy and doing a lot of meditation. I tried different meditations from my previous world to see what works and what doesn't. They were all pretty useful in increasing my yin chakra. I studied what the academy had on genjutsu and tried everything out, then I tried my own ideas. I had my mother put me in genjutsu from time to time to see what it would feel like, and to be able to detect it immediately. I managed to create an illusion around myself to hide my location. Then, using this, I went in the forest behind our house, hid myself until a rabbit or a squirrel came nearby, and put them to sleep using genjutsu. It was an effective way of hunting and practice. While I was sitting in waiting I could practice my meditation, and when an animal appeared, I would practice my genjutsu. I would release the animal after putting them in genjutsu.
Aside from genjutsu, I also kept practicing my taijutsu at the academy and with my mother. I became pretty decent in it. By the end of the academy I developed a fighting style focused on genjutsu and taijutsu, with senbon throwing mixed in. My hiding ability was also pretty high so I was good at ambushing my opponents as well.
I managed to graduate and pass the jonin test. My team this time around was different than the one from my first simulation. My mother hired a bo staff instructor for me after I asked her to. I used the genin section of the library to further improve my genjutsu ability. After a year I finally managed to use sound to put someone in a genjutsu. Me and my team went on a lot of D rank missions and a few C rank missions. When I was 14, we participated in the chunin exams. Me and one of my teammates got promoted. We continued to take C rank missions as a team, and 6 months later, my last teammate also graduated. Then we kept going on mostly B rank missions.
I had two and a half years until Orochimaru attacked Konoha, and I wanted to get as strong as possible. This time I wasn't planning on leaving Konoha during the invasion. Becoming a jonin required one to have achievements in service of the village. I continued to use the chunin section of the library to improve my genjutsu ability. I attached 2 bells to the bo staff I was using and used them to put people in illusions.
The day of the invasion came, and I had a lot of senbon coated with sleeping poison. I hid myself next to an evacuation shelter. When the invasion started, I quickly started moving civilians inside. By the time the fighting was getting close to where I was, more than 20 minutes passed, enough time to evacuate a lot of people. Then I entered a house that had a back door next to a sewer. I attached a store bell that I purchased beforehand above the door. I was hoping that it would not raise suspicions. I then tied a chackra wire to the bell and hid myself close by, using genjutsu and masking my chakra. When an enemy nin would enter the house, I would send chakra to the bell through the wire, triggering a genjutsu that would mess with the ninja's perception. Then I would through the poisoned senbon at them. I would also perform a genjutsu to put them to sleep. The combined effect of the poison and the genjutsu would put them to sleep pretty fast. If I didn't sense any other enemy nearby, I would tie the down enemy and hide them in a different room. After dealing with 4 ninjas, I went out the back door and hid with them in the sewer.
I waited for the fighting noises to calm down, and when everything was over, I exited the sewer with the 4 ninja I captured. I went to the first jonin I found and told him that I captured 4 enemies. He looked impressed since one of the enemies was a jonin. He asked me for my name, then he ordered another chunin to help me take them to T&I.
When I got home I started writing a report about what happened that day, since I knew I was going to be asked for one when things settled down. I only wrote about helping civilians to an evacuation shelter, about setting up an ambush for enemy ninja and capturing 4 of them, then about reporting to a jonin and taking the ninja to T&I alongside another chunin. I left out the part about hiding, of course.
I later found out that one of my teammates was crippled in the attack and couldn't continue as a ninja. I had a little over 3 years until Pain attacked Konoha. I wanted to become jonin by then and get access to the jonin library, before leaving the village in the confusion. For the next 2 years my team and I kept taking B rank missions and even 2 A rank missions. Then I got promoted to tokubetsu jonin.
I spent most of the remaining time in the library or meditating. The first thing I learned after getting access to the jonin section of the library was the shadow clone jutsu. I was only able to make 8 clones. The shadow clone jutsu helped with practicing genjutsu, since now I was able to more easily test my abilities. I commissioned the 2 bo staffs from the scroll, and started practicing with them. The genjutsu was far easier to perform with bells made out of chakra metal, and with chakra metal running across the staff, making it easier to run chakra from my hand to the bells. I also kept copying the important information from the library, a little at a time to not appear to suspicious.
When the approximate time of Pain's attack came, I kept sending a shadow clone to the library, hoping to have a clone there when the attack began, while I hid myself in a place from where it would be easy to escape the village in the confusion. I could only be sure of an approximate time for the attack, because of the butterfly effect. After 2 weeks of me sending a clone to the library, the attack began. I hid my clone with genjutsu and waited for everyone to leave the library to check where the commotion came from. Then I grabbed whatever scrolls I taught were important and left the library with them.
The clone brought the scrolls to my main body, where I was waiting with enough paper to copy everything. I made another 10 clones, my limit being 11 at this point, and we all started copying the scrolls. After finishing, I destroyed the original copies, just in case they had a way to track them, and ran from the village. I shaved my head, started growing a beard, put on contacts, pierced my ears, slashed my face a little and healed it in a way that would leave a scar, I wasn't any good with healing to begin with. I only knew a little that my mother taught me. At the end of my disguise, no one would recognize me.
I then headed towards Wave Country. Once I got there, I bought a house in a secluded area of a village. I had enough money from the treasures I sent myself back from my second simulation and from what I made as a ninja until I left the village. I could hunt, fish and forage either way, and if I used shadow clones, I could get the ingredients for a meal really quick.
I spent the next few years learning every genjutsu I copied from the library. Unfortunately, there was nothing in the scrolls related to time perception. After learning everything I had on genjutsu, I started experimenting using shadow clones. This is how I spent the next few decades, doing a lot of meditation, having clones do a lot of meditation as well, and experimenting. I finally managed to get a very small time dilation effect. The easiest way to check this was by putting a clone in the genjutsu, saying something, dispelling the genjutsu, then saying the same thing at the same speed, then dispelling the clone and checking the memories. This way I could easily tell if something was perceived in slow motion. The effect I reached was very small though. I suspected I needed to learn more about the brain in order to progress on this path.
By the end of my life, I managed to lower my perception of time by a factor of 1.6, using it for a long time would give me headaches though. The level I reached was pretty decent, though it took decades of working only on time perception, using shadow clones to increase my learning speed, to reach this point. Sure, a lot of the time was trying a lot of things that didn't work, and if I knew what I was doing from the beginning, I could probably have reached the same level in around 15 years of working only on this without the help of shadow clones. But it was still a huge amount of time.
Checking the main diaries, the last entry was when I was 86 years old, so I probably died of a heart attack or something. The maximum number of clones I managed to make during my life was 41.
I was very happy with the progress made during the simulation. My learning materials were adding up, and they were mostly written by me, so they would be easy for me to understand. I spent the rest of the day solving some genjutsu exercises and working on my physical training. The next day my mother asked me if I wanted to join either academy in 2 days. I told her I didn't, and she agreed with my decision. I spent the rest of the month working on anything I wanted to learn at any particular time, making sure to work on my body for at least 2 hours each day. This time I already knew what I wanted to work on. It was time to learn medical jutsu. With the help of my mother, I expected to progress quite a bit.
When the 30th day came, I heard the sound I was waiting for:
[Ding! Host has received 1 simulation opportunity. Next simulation opportunity will be received in 30 days.]
