Prologue
Operation ALPHA
Chad sat in a darkly lit room. He was scratched up and bruised, having taken a severe beating. He looked out the cell window, into the vastness of space, seeing the Galactic Fortress he'd been trapped in.
He sighed, before he stared down at the floor. How the fuck did I end up here? These people are a cruel mockery for everything the Kids Next Door stands for.
He sat, and pondered…
Moonbase HQ
A 12 Year Old Rachel Mackenzie sat in her office, rubbing her head. She can't do this anymore. She sighed, then got up. It's time. She exited her office and began to walk the halls aimlessly, ignoring other Operatives questions and such. Eventually she returned to her office, and, after deliberating some more, she decided to make a call down to Earth.v
"Abby? I have an offer."
Sector V Treehouse
A 12 Year-Old Abigail Lincoln picked up her communicator and answered the transmission. "Hello? Ah, Number 362! You want to speak with me? At the moonbase. I'll be right there!"
…
"And don't bring anyone." She said before hanging up. She waited. Around 20 minutes later, she heard a knock on her door. "Come in." She said, rather coldly. Abby walked in slowly, before closing the door behind her. "Is something wrong, Numbuh 362?"
Rachel didnt say anything, only staring at the wall opposing Abby. This caused Number 5 to become slightly concerned. "Rachel?"
She walked over to Rachel, and slid a chair up, and sat down. "What's wrong?"
Rachel sighed, and then she began. "Ever since Number 1 left, everything just… hasn't felt the same. And on top of it, all of the constant barrage of paperwork, near crisis one after the other, it's just so… difficult to manage, to deal with, you know?" Rachel said exasperated.
Abby wasn't sure what to say. How long has this been affecting her? She stood up and got some water for the two. "Here." Abby said. "Drink this." Rachel took the cup and downed it quickly. "Thanks.." She said, half smiling slightly. "How long has this been affecting you?" Abby asked. Rachel looked down for a moment, before she returned Abby's gaze. "About 4 and a half months…" Abby frowned. She had hoped the situation hadn't been going on for that long. Rachel got up.
"I mean, I was struggling even before he left, you know? Being the Supreme Leader is a hard job and all, and, frankly, I wasn't ready for it." Rachel turned to look at her helmet on a rack. She felt a sense of bittersweetness, that, maybe, this was for the best. She turned back to Abby.
"I'm going to retire."
Somewhere In The Milky Way…
"So what do you wish to do with him, sir?"
Numbuh 74.239 looked back to his alien operative. "Well, we have a few options." Numbuh Nu nodded and stepped forward slightly. "What are these options?"
He sighed. "Well, we could terminate him, or we could send him to Quayor, or…" He gulped. "We could harvest him."
Numbuh Nu nodded, as she motioned for two other operatives, Numbuh Kappa and Numbuh 637.436 stepped forward, revealing a hologram of Earth. "What do we do with the Infestation, sir?" Numbuh Kappa asked. He turned to look at them slightly. "Begin preparation."
He turned to look back out into the deep vastness of space. "Soon, there'll be something new…soon…"
…
Chad woke up on the floor of his cell. His back ached. Argh..why haven't they just gotten it over with already? He sat up slightly. He felt like his mind was foggy. Were they drugging him? He stretched slightly as he looked around his cell. He did a double take. There was something new. A prisoner. It stepped forward, revealing itself. It seemed to be around 5.7 feet tall. It was dark purple with dark green eyes, and semi- short Auburn brown hair. It bowed to him. "My name is Zara. It's a pleasure to meet you.." He nervously backed away, before sighing, and nodding. "Uh..nice to meet you? I'm Chad, uh, Chad Dickson…"
Zara leaned back up to face him, as she nodded. She maneuvered her way over to one of the beds. "So, how did you get here?"
30 minutes later…
"And that's basically how I got here." He finished. She was speechless. "My, my, that is one wonderful tale you have. So you're a Galactic Level Threat?" She asked him. He nodded his head and stared her down. "How'd you end up here?"
She sighed. "Made a dumb mistake, and then I got in trouble for it." Chad nodded and looked down. "..Care to tell me more?.."
She shook her head. "No..I'd prefer not.."
He nodded.
They sat in silence for a minute, before an alarm began to blare. Chad stood up, confused. Zara did the same. An order began to be read out. "CODE BLACK. I REPEAT, WE HAVE A CODE BLACK. ALL PERSONNEL TO THE LOWER PRISON HALL. I REPEAT, ALL PERSONNEL TO THE LOWER PRISON HALL."
They stood in stunned silence for a moment, before he motioned her over to the air hatch. "What are you doing?! They'll kill us?"
He turned to her. "Even if we stay here, they'll kill us anyway!" He turned back up to the hatch, motioning for her to come over. "C'mere."
She strided over and used her foot to push off of his hands, which he had cupped to give her a leverage point. She reached for the hatch, and after some struggle, tore the lid loose. She climbed in and crawled forward before turning around and pulling him into the air duct.
"We need to crawl that way." He said to her, pointing forward. She turned back around and began to crawl forward, one arm after the other, over and over. It quickly became tiring, but they pushed through it. Eventually, the air duct turned vertical, meaning they'd have to climb. She put her feet and hands on the walls of the shaft, and began to scale quite efficiently, with Chad struggling. She'd gotten to the top and helped Chad up. "Thanks," He said.
He pointed down the shaft some more. "Up there." She turned to look. There was a break in the air shaft, leading to an electrical machine. Neither of them had any idea what it was. They crawled up to the exit down to the machine and looked down. The electrical machine was situated in the middle of a circular chasm, with open space surrounding it, and pipes, wiring, and machinery and such connecting the machine to the rest of the larger structure. It seemed as if there were miles and miles of empty space in each direction, both above and below the machine. After some deliberation, he jumped down. He landed about 10 feet down. He winced as he landed, rolling onto his side. Luckily, the piping was around 5 feet wide, so he was, at the moment, at no risk of sliding off of it.
Zara jumped down after him, landing precisely where she needed to. She stood up, reaching out a hand and helping Chad to his feet. He looked around. "Where the hell are we?"
"We're at one of the Main Generators. They power the Craft." He huffed at this, and turned to look towards the machine. "Where do we go from here?"
"We can get to the main operating center and escape pods if we follow those pipes over there." She motioned over in the general direction. "Well, let's go."
Moonbase…
"You can't be serious, Rachel!", Abby shouted, looking at her friend as she turned away from her. "Look, Abby, I can't do this anymore. It's..It's just too much for me, ok?!" Abby shook her head. "But we're counting on you, please!"
Rachel turned to look at her. She had tears in her eyes. Abby frowned and looked down. Rachel Sighed. "Look Abby." Rachel said. "I need someone who can do this right, Abigail. And to be honest.." She said, looking into her eyes as Abby looked up. "I think you're the person for the job."
let me know what you think of this! :D
