tsukikami02: Thanks, yeah, well, there won't be much difference in the reuploaded chapters, things will likely start to change in chapter 4, but will definitely start to pick up once they reach Hogwarts.

Now onto the story.

Disclaimer: I don't own Hogwarts Legacy or its characters.

Interrupted Flight.

"So, who is your travelling companion?" George asked as the carriage flew through the air.

"Jamie McIntyre." Professor Fig introduced me. "A new student."

"New?"

I nodded from my comfortable position seated next to Professor Fig and the window which offered an incredible view of our surroundings, the clouds below us. "Yes sir, I'm starting Hogwarts, as a fifth year."

George was even more perplexed. "How extraordinary?"

"Indeed, the faculty has never heard of someone starting so late." Fig admitted.

"Nor have I." George confirmed.

"Of course as the other fifth years will have been honing their magical skills for four years now, the Headmaster asked if I could get our new student up to speed a bit before term begins." Fig explained.

"Well, you couldn't have asked for a better mentor." George remarked with a grin. "Professor Fig is not only an exceptional teacher, he's also a remarkably intuitive – and gifted – wizard."

Fig gave a short laugh. "Mr. Osric has a talent for flattery, it's presumably one of the reasons why he's risen so far in the Ministry."

We all chuckled for a while before lapsing into silence, then suddenly, things changed, especially George Osric, his expression turned into one of utter seriousness.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a newspaper.

"Have you seen this?" He asked warily.

He held it out and showed the front page, showing a headline that read 'Ranrok's Goblin Rebellion: Truth? Or Gobbledegook?' There was a moving picture next to the headline of a vicious looking Goblin who seemed to be wearing armour.

"I have." Professor Fig said heavily. "Opinions differ as to how great a threat Ranrok really is."

George sighed and put the paper away as he began speaking.

"Although I've yet to convince my colleagues at the Ministry, I'm believe he is a significant threat."

While they were talking, I looked out and the window and narrowed my eyes, I thought I saw something, some large dark shape, moving through the clouds.

I looked back to Professor Fig and George Osric, but they were so deep in their conversation, not having seen anything it seemed. I wasn't sure if I should say anything, but returned my focus to the conversation they were having.

"And it was your wife Eleazar." George said sadly. "Who alerted me to his activities months ago."

"Miriam, how?" Fig gasped.

George sighed. "She wrote to me about Ranrok before she died – wondering what the Ministry knew about his activities."

I was startled by this, Professor Fig had lost his wife, and relatively recently too it seemed.

It was then George reached into another pocket and pulled something out.

"Before I could respond, I received this. It was the last thing she sent me, Eleazar." He explained.

He then held out a strange cylindrical metal container of some sorts with a strange symbol marked on it.

George continued. "It came via her owl, but with no correspondence, I can only assume-"

"-That she had to get rid of it quickly to keep it safe." Professor Fig finished for him as he carefully took it.

"Presumably from Ranrok." George said. "I cannot open it, whatever magic protects this is powerful indeed."

Professor Fig examined it and noted. "It looks like Goblin Metal. That symbol..."

"What's that glow?" I asked as I pointed towards the symbol.

"I don't see a glow." Professor Fig said.

"Nor do I." George added.

I bit my lip, feeling foolish, but there was a glow, I could see it, right there on the strange symbol upon the cylinder, why couldn't they see it.

Looking confused, Professor Fig handed the cylinder to me. I was a little taken aback but I then held it, looking at the glow which moved from the symbol to form a line across the length of the device, which then opened on a pair of hinges, revealing a curiously shaped key inside.

"Merlin's Beard." George gasped. "How did you-?"

"Wait." Professor Fig said sharply as I reached for the key. "We don't know what-"

As he said this he took the open device back, which was when all hell broke loose.

There was a sudden loud noise, a crunching and a roar and suddenly the entire half of the carriage carrying George Osric was a wreck and pulled away from the rest of the carriage, into the mouth of a Hebridean Black Dragon which proceeded to utterly destroy the carriage and poor George with a vicious snap of its jaws. I could only stare and gasp in horror as the coachman tried frantically to whip up the invisible carriage pullers to move faster.

"Hold on!" Professor Fig cried as he tried to help me stay in place.

I instantly clung tightly to the seat and glanced back out the front of the carriage, my jaw dropping as the invisible carriage pullers suddenly became visible, black skeletal looking winged horses.

"Jump!"

I turned to see the Dragon about to breathe fire and did so as the driver apparated away, the carriage was utterly destroyed as we fell through the air.

Professor Fig tried to get closer to me as I felt terrified, praying that Professor Fig could do something as we fell, the dragon had turned and was closing in on us again.

"The key." He gasped.

He quickly caught hold of me and then cast a spell towards the key.

"Accio!"

It zoomed into his hand and the moment he caught it the two of us felt a sharp jerk and we were pulled away, the world swirling around us as we vanished, just before the dragon's jaws closed on us, a truly narrow escape, but to an as yet unknown destination.
