"So you headed to Louisiana, eh son?" A cashier asked the customer he was ringing up.
The young man just grinned at the old man working the register. This was Lucas Meyers, an 18 year old kid who was stopping for snacks and deer corn. He was dressed in blue jeans, boots, a t-shirt and a trucker hat.
"Yessir," Lucas answered, "I checked the trail cams and tracks, I think we might be able to snag Big Beevus. He's been slippery, but he's shown signs he's in the area."
The old man cackled at this, "If you snag him, be sure to send some venison. I'd love to see what he tastes like."
"If I do, you're the first I'll be calling you old fart," the young man laughed.
"Take care kid, and drive safe," the old man said with a smile, "Storm is getting over in your area."
"You take care as well, Jimmy," Lucas told the old man.
Lucas then took his snacks to his truck, a white 2006 Gmc Sierra 2500 diesel, and loaded the bed with about 5 bags of corn. Once he was done loading up, he got into the truck, fired it up, and drove off to the hunting camp. Little did he know, the camp wasn't going to be his final destination.

Lucas had been driving for some time now in the dark and rain. But this was normal for this time of the year so he was used to it. He had the radio playing some country music and he was singing along to it.
(Song is "Country Roads" by Apalachee Falls)
Country roads, take me home
To a backwoods creek down a long dirt road
If it means an old headstone
At least I'll be, I'll be where I belong
I represent the country
Yeah, I love the slums
Raised off in the sticks
Man this is where I come from
Love cracklin' cornbread
Collard and corn fed
Southern by the grace of God
And when I'm gone, country dead
I ride the dirt roads
Sometimes to reach that destination
Ducked off in Jones Woods
It's like I'm always on vacation
Blaze up the bonfire
Callin' up my country folk
Just filled up that mason jar
Lite the pine and take a smoke
It's all good, we all fine
Big Marcus brought the moonshine
Kid Rock in the dashboard
Peaches shakin' in the moonlight
Somethin' 'bout them backroads
Stretchin' out across the county line
It takes me back to my days of young
When my grandma was my sunshine
I love all the things that the country brings
Backroads ridin' little country lane
On a front porch with my girl and kids
'Cause the smell of an evenin' country rain
May not mean that much to some
But to me, it's where my heart belongs
I'm callin' on them country roads
Them the ones that take me home
Country roads, (country road) take me home (take me home)
To a backwoods creek (to a back wood creek)
Down a long dirt road (sideways down an old dirt road)
If it means an old headstone
At least I'll be, I'll be where I belong
Them country roads mean a lot to me
Georgia mountains, Carolina's Cherokee
Smokey Mountains in the hills of Tennessee
If you like me you probably agree
It's like something good
Like something sweet
Like something green
Like mamma's tea
Raised to be how I wanted to be
At the end of the road, the sunset is for free
Not tryin' to put down the city
But these country roads sure are pretty
Times I feel so young for what I know
Damn, there's no place like home
I like to hear some creek I'm flowing
Down that's some road I'm goin'
Hell yeah, that's where I belong
While we getting there we all sing along
Country roads, (country road) take me home (take me home)
To a backwoods creek (to a back wood creek)
Down a long dirt road (sideways down an old dirt road)
If it means an old headstone
At least I'll be, I'll be where I belong
Country roads (country roads take me home)
To a backwoods creek (sideways down an old dirt road)
If it means an old headstone
At least I'll be, I'll be where I belong
"Damn that song never gets old," Lucas grinned.
He then got a phone call, it being his dad. He then answered it and his dad's voice came through.
"Hey Lucas, how's it going son?" His dad, Kevin Meyers, asked.
"Can't complain dad," Kevin's son answered, "Other than the weather, it's been good. Got everything I need. Clothes, corn, rifle, pistol, cams, and Laptop. Hopefully we can catch Big Beevus this year."
Kevin chuckled, "Well that's good son, how far are you out?"
"I just got out of Ragley, so I'd say about an hour," The young man replied.
"Good deal, drive safe son," Lucas' dad told him.
"Always do dad," Lucas chuckled and he hung up.
He continued his drive to the camp, thinking this would be a good hunt before thanksgiving. However, unbeknownst to him, the storm was starting to get strange. The water droplets suddenly lifted off the ground, freezing, making the road very slick. Lucas caught wind of this when he felt his steering a lot more loose than normal.
"The hell?" he muttered and slowed down, trying to regain control of his truck.
He shifted to 4WD to get more traction and put the truck in first gear for more torque. But when he tried slowing down, he found he couldn't. Now he was starting to get worried as he didn't know what was happening, he then realized the wind was pushing the truck along the ice.
CRACK!
Lightning struck the ice 500 feet in front of the young man, creating a vortex of sorts, almost like a downscaled version of the slipspace portal from halo. Now Lucas was in panic mode.
"SHIT!" he yelled, slamming the truck in reverse and flooring it, the turbo sounding like a jet turbine as he rolled coal trying to not get dragged into the portal.
"Come on come on," he muttered looking behind him and then in front back and forth.
However, this was all in vain as he slowly and slowly started to get dragged towards the portal. Eventually, the portal swallowed the truck whole with Lucas crying out in panic and fear, and then vanished. Lucas Meyers was no longer on this earth. Where was he currently? Only the man upstairs knew. Lucas was now in a new world that brought a new sort of trouble.

Kevin Meyers was currently on the phone with the local authorities trying to figure out where Lucas was. It had been two hours since his son was supposed to be at the camp and now he was scared. When he checked the tracker that he had in the truck, it was like it disappeared off the map. Now he knew that Lucas wouldn't remove the tracker without his permission, so something was wrong.
The 50-year old man was currently talking with the sheriff for Ragley and he said there was no sign of a white GMC driving through there. This did not settle his concerns at all. The only thing he could do was pray to God wherever Lucas was that he was safe.

Location: City of Vale
Through the dark streets of Vale, there was no one to be seen. It looked almost lifeless. That was until what seemed like lightning was striked on the ground. In a flash of light, a white GMC was seen skidding on the street to a screeching halt.
Inside the truck, was a worked up and confused teenager. Lucas was shaking as he skidded to a halt. But something about him was… different. On the top of both of his hands were two tattoos that weren't there previously before he arrived. They were in the shape of Catholic crosses.
When Lucas finally calmed himself down, he took in his surroundings.
"The hell?" he muttered, "Where am I?"
He looked over at his phone which oddly had no service. Frustrated, he put the phone in his pocket. Looking around, he decided to park his truck somewhere because he didn't wanna waste the diesel trying to find a gas station, if there even was one anywhere. He ended up choosing an alley that looked secluded. He shut the truck off, got out, and grabbed a few things he figured he might need. He grabbed both the 243 rifle, and the 10mm handgun he brought with him. He slung the rifle over his shoulder, and holstered the 10mm, grabbed his cowboy hat, and set off into the city to try and figure out where he was.
-Scene Cut-
After walking for some time, Lucas came across a store that looked open. He looked up at the sign and it read "Dust until dawn".
"Huh, weird name for a store," he muttered.
Opening the door, he came across an older gentleman at the counter. The owner smiled at him.
"Evening young man," the owner politely said, a little nervous by the rifle Lucas had.
"Evening sir," Lucas said with a smile, "I uh, seem to be lost, do you have any kind of map by any chance?"
The owner nodded and pointed in the direction of some books and other brochures. The country boy nodded and made his way over to that section. Unbeknownst to him, his troubles were about to start.
While Lucas was looking for a map, the door opened and a man in a white trench coat, bowler hat, with a cane in one hand and a cigar in the other walked in with some henchmen. This was Roman Torchwick, a known criminal responsible for recent dust robberies. Lucas took note of this and put his hand on his holster, slowly pulling the 10mm out.
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a dust shop open this late?" asked the crime boss.
One of his henchmen pointed a gun at the shop owner.
"P-Please!" the owner begged, "Just take my Lien and leave!"
"Shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money," torchwick told the owner, "Grab the dust."
The thugs then opened a case filled with canisters that would collect dust from the dispensaries. Lucas slowly made his way over, holding up his handgun. While that was happening, another thug saw a certain silver-eyed girl with headphones reading a comic.
"Alright kid, put your hands where I can see them," ordered the thug whilst drawing his sword.
But he got no reaction from the girl. Lucas saw this and widened his eyes. But before he could react, another thug saw him.
"You there, hands in the air," ordered the second thug.
Lucas sharply looked over and saw another thug drawing his sword as well.
Do these people realize they brought swords to a gunfight? Thought the country boy.
Lucas drew his 10mm aiming it at the thug.
"How 'bout screw you," Lucas responded, "And unless you want a bullet in your eye, I suggest you back the fuck up, now."
Then all of a sudden one of the henchmen went flying hitting the wall, surprising both men. Lucas then took the opportunity to shoot the sword out of the henchman's hand. The thug groaned and the country boy rushed the thug, pistol-whipping him and knocking him out. Two more thugs appeared with swords, then the girl from before tackled the thug out the window.
Using the opportunity, Lucas shot both henchmen, immobilizing them. And when he looked out, he was in shock at what he was seeing. There was a girl who looked no older than 15, holding what looked like a giant retractable scythe.
"Okay…" Roman said, gesturing to the girl, "Get her."
His goons then rushed the girl who swiftly knocked them out with ease. Lucas snuck up on the criminal, putting the muzzle of the 10mm in his back.
"Unless you wanna be in a wheelchair, I suggest putting your hands up," Lucas ordered.
Roman simply smirked and used his cane to hit the 10mm out of Lucas' hand and delivered a swift blow to his gut, striking his face, making Lucas stumble. After the redneck got dazed, Roman turned back to the girl who had taken care of the goons.
"You were worth every cent, you truly were," the crime boss complimented Ruby, "Well red, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as i'd love to stick around, this is where we part ways."
Torchwick then raised his cane, which doubled as a rifle and shot a round at the girl. Ruby then dodged the attack using crescent rose's rifle feature, launching her up into the air. When she landed, Roman was gone. She then saw the criminal climbing up a building. What the both of them didn't realize was Lucas had got back up, holstered the 10mm, and opted for the 243. After loading a round in the chamber, he took aim and fired at the ladder Roman was climbing. Lucas then climbed out of the shop pissed off. Ruby then turned to the shop owner.
"Mind if I go after him," Ruby asked to which the owner nodded.
"Bring him with you," the owner gestured towards Lucas, who without a second thought joined Ruby in pursuit of the criminal. Lucas scaled the ladder while Ruby simply leaped up. Lucas then pulled out the 10mm and joined Ruby where they thought they cornered the criminal.
"Hey!" Ruby shouted at Roman.
"Persistent," Roman muttered.
"Drop the cane, and put your hands above your head, scumbag," Lucas sharply ordered.
But then out of nowhere, an aircraft Lucas had never seen before appeared. Lucas then fired at the aircraft but to his surprise did no damage. Roman then hopped onto the aircraft, and held up a crystal.
"End of the line red!" Roman shouted, throwing the crystal.
Realizing what was gonna happen, Lucas shoved Ruby out of the way and was about to take the brunt of the explosion caused by the crystal shot by Roman, when a newcomer arrives, shielding the two teens.
"Whoa-ho-ho," the white dressed crime boss jeered before realizing someone had shielded them from the explosion.
This newcomer wore a white long sleeve shirt, black leggings, glasses, and held a riding crop. She also had long blonde hair. The woman had conjured some sort of shield protecting the two teens from the explosion. This was Glynda Goodwitch, the headmistress at Beacon academy.
Ruby and Lucas were both in awe of Goodwitch using what appeared to be telekinesis to shield them from the explosion. Pushing her glasses, the then unleashed a volley of projectiles using telekinesis onto the aircraft that Roman had boarded. He then moved to the cockpit and turned to the pilot.
"We got a huntress," he told the woman piloting.
The woman then stood up and moved to the entrance of the aircraft, leaving Roman to pilot the ship. Glynda then upgraded to creating a cloud above the aircraft.
"The hell?" Roman muttered.
This cloud had proceeded to rain down ice shards onto the bullhead. That's when the mysterious woman had made her appearance. This stranger had then conjured up fiery projectiles and launched them at the trio. Glynda tried shielding the blast and was able to, but Lucas wasn't left unscathed.
"GAAH, FUCK!" he grunted out in pain, feeling his arm being burned by the projectiles.
Glynda didn't have time to check on the young man when the stranger had unleashed an explosion to which the huntress dodged. Using the debris from the explosion, Glynda crafted a spear and aimed it at the bullhead. The stranger then blasted the spear into pieces which Glynda redirected to strike the bullhead. Roman maneuvered the bullhead to dodge the attacks. When the stranger saw the projectiles coming back around, she unleashed a fiery wave incinerating the debris.
Despite his burns, Lucas unslung his rifle and took aim. Ruby saw this and did the same, and both teens fired at the woman who blocked all their shots with ease. Then the stranger created another explosion to which Glynda moved both teens out of the way. Unfortunately, this was a distraction as this allowed for Roman and his partner to get away.
Lucas groaned and sat up, wincing from the burns on his arm.
"You're a huntress," Ruby said in awe, "Can I have your autograph?"
While distracted, Lucas thought it would be a good time to try and slip away… when he felt a grip on his shoulder, making him wince again.
"Dammit…" he muttered in annoyance and pain.
"You're not going anywhere young man," Glynda told the teen.
"Whoa whoa, just who the hell are you lady?" Lucas remarked.
"You're in no position to make demands," Glynda glared at the young man.
Sighing, Lucas realized he was in no position to try and escape, not after getting burned on his arm.
Le Timeskip brought to you by a chibi Lucas being healed by a medic at the police station.
Back at the police station, Ruby and Lucas were in both separate interrogation rooms. After talking with Ruby, Glynda came in with an older looking man who wore a stoic expression on his face. He held a mug in his right hand and wore shaded glass spectacles and a small, purple, cross-shaped pin on the cowl around his neck.
Lucas had his arm wrapped up in bandages with his arm somehow being almost completely healed of any injury. He had a stoic look on his face, but he was panicking on the inside. All he wanted was to find a way back home, not get wrapped up in some sort of investigation. He also wanted to know who that girl was, why she had a weapon like that, how this woman was able to control things with her mind, and how everyone has superpowers.
The older man sat down and gave Lucas a smile while Glynda gave him a stern glare.
"Young man, do you have any idea how dangerous that was?" Glynda spoke with authority.
"Yes but-" Lucas tried to defend himself but was cut off.
"Then why did you choose to engage like that," Glynda retorted, "You could've gotten that girl or someone else hurt."
"I'm sorry, was I supposed to be sitting with my thumbs up my ass letting some criminal rob a poor man?" Lucas replied angrily, "And on top of that, yes, someone did get hurt, me, and thankfully it was just a minor burn."
"That does not excuse what you did however," Glynda responded, "Why not call the police when you could?"
"First off, my phone couldnt work," Lucas answered, confusing the two, "Second, there's a reason I have a rifle and a handgun. Third, I DON'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA AS TO WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS EVEN HAPPENING!"
A little put off by his outburst, Glynda was about to retort when the older man held up his arm, stopping her. The gentlemen spoke.
"I am professor Ozpin, my young friend," the now proclaimed Ozpin said, "It appears that you have lost your way."
Lucas sighed, "One hell of an understatement right there sir. I'm just… afraid."
"Afraid of what exactly?" Ozpin asked.
"Pretty much what all is happening right now… One minute I'm driving to a hunting camp, the next I'm skidding to a stop in a city at night. On top of that, I'm seeing a girl wielding a giant scythe that is also a rifle, a woman controlling things with her mind, and another woman using fire. I-I-I just can't wrap my head around it… and that's making me afraid…" Lucas rambled.
"Do you know where you are at the current moment?" Glynda asked.
"Not a damn clue," Lucas replied.
"You're in the city of Vale," Ozpin replied.
"Vale?" Lucas asked confused, "Is that a city in Europe or something?"
"Europe?" Ozpin asked curiously.
"Yeah, Europe, one of the 7 continents," Lucas replied, seeing as he got a blank look from the two adults, "Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, North and South America?"
All he got were blank stares from the two adults. This made the young man realize something was terribly wrong, and it was evident.
"Uh… what… planet is this…?" Lucas asked shakily.
"Remnant," Glynda flatly answered, "Surely you would know that."
"N-No…" Lucas muttered, "I-I know… this might sound crazy but… I'm from… another planet."
Glynda rolled her eyes while Ozpin was a little intrigued.
"Impossible," Glynda said, "There's no way to travel farther than Remnant."
"N-No It's true!" Lucas cried out and turned to Ozpin, "You believe me right?"
Ozpin then nodded, which shocked both Glynda and Lucas.
"You do?!" both of them said, perplexed.
"I do," he answered, "I can see it from your face. The only other logical explanation would be you were shielded from the world all your life, which would be unlikely considering your clothing choice, and the weapons you carry. I can't seem to find anything on the brands of such weapons. Also, the keys we found in your backpack belong to a vehicle we can't find anything on."
"That's probably because it didn't exist here before…" Lucas answered.
"Yes yes…" Ozpin answered, "But putting that aside, I have a question I would like to ask of you."
"Anything sir," Lucas answered.
"You mentioned a hunting camp, that leads me to believe you're a hunter, correct?"
Lucas nodded at the question.
"How would you like to turn that into a career?" Ozpin asked.
"What do you mean sir?" Lucas asked in reply.
"I run a school for young men and women to become huntsmen and huntresses," Ozpin explained, "They're responsible for protecting humanity from creatures of darkness called grimm."
"Well, I'm a pretty good shot with my 243," Lucas said.
"So, is that a yes?" Ozpin asked with a raised brow.
"Yes, it is," Lucas nodded.
"Very well," Ozpin answered, "And I promise you, if you become a huntsman, I'll help you find your way home."
"Yes of course," Lucas nodded eagerly, "I won't let you down Mr Ozpin."
Ozpin chuckled, "I would hope not."
Lucas then realized something.
"Oh, and one other thing," he spoke.
"Hm?" Ozpin replied.
"About my vehicle… I wish to bring it with me but it's uh… well… I'll just have to show you."
Scene cut
When they arrived at Lucas' truck, they were a little shocked, needless to say.
"You drive this massive thing?" Glynda asked, perplexed.
"Yeah, me and my dad rebuilt this thing from being a rust bucket to a running and driving truck," Lucas explained, "And well, it's been a hell of a ride."
"I'm more impressed that you can drive something this big, Lucas," Ozpin said.
"Well I've grown up around these kinds of trucks, so it wasn't too hard," Lucas said.
"How does it run?" Glynda asked.
"Internal combustion using diesel fuel being compressed," Lucas explained.
Seeing the confused looks, Lucas clarified, "Do restaurants use fry grease around here?" and after getting nods in reply, "Think of that, but as fuel. That's essentially what is powering this thing."
Ozpin simply nodded.
"Well it's quite big to fit on the airship, but I think we can make it work," Ozpin said.
Lucas sighed in relief as he was able to bring his most valuable item from earth.

Normal POV
Lucas was dressed in a button down shirt with blue jeans, his cowboy boots and a hat to go along with it. He looked around him and just sighed as he looked out of place along with the other students. He had left his luggage inside his truck which was stored in the cargo hold of the ship. He looked around and saw a familiar face. It was the same girl from the other night when he arrived. Ruby… was her name?
He saw her being hugged by what seemed to be her sister, a tall busty blonde. This was Yang Xiao Long, the half sister of Ruby. He decided to walk over to the pair. Ruby saw him and beamed a bit.
"Oh hey," Ruby said, "Aren't you Lucas?"
Lucas scratched his head, "Yeah, that's me."
Then Yang smiled when she saw the country boy.
"So… you're the boy my little sister told me about hmm?" Yang said flirtatiously, "She never told me you were handsome."
Lucas felt a bit flustered by Yang's flirty nature.
"W-Well yeah… I kinda got caught up in this whole thing," he said while scratching his head, "Honestly I wasn't expecting Ozpin to give me this invitation in the first place."
"Well I'm certainly not complaining," Yang purred a bit as she got closer to Lucas, much to the dismay of her sister.
"Yang! Please stop flirting with him!" Ruby whined in protest.
Yang then backed off from a blushing Lucas.
"Relax Ruby, I was trying to make him comfortable," Yang replied with a cheeky smile.
The trio then turned to the tv where a reporter was talking about the previous robbery that both Ruby and Lucas intervened in. Luckily, no mention of them was made in the broadcasting much to Lucas' relief. Last thing he needed was publicity. Then after that, a broadcast for a faunus protest was shown.
Hm, gotta do some research about this race of people, Lucas mentally told himself, If I'm gonna survive here, gotta know what I'll be facing potentially.
Then said broadcast was interrupted by Glynda in the form of a hologram.
"Hello and welcome to Beacon," the huntress spoke.
"Who's that?" Yang asked.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch."
"Oh."
"You are among the privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future huntsmen and huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the needed courage for such a task, and now, it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world."
With that, the hologram disappeared. Ruby then looked out the window in awe, with Yang and Lucas joining her.
"Look! You can see Signal from here," she said, "I guess home isn't too far after all!"
Yang put a hand on her little sister's shoulder, "Beacon is our home now."
Then the moment was ruined when a blonde haired boy started to vomit, feeling altitude sickness.
"I guess he view isn't for everyone," Yang remarked.
"It was nice while it lasted," Ruby agreed
"I don't know, it's still pretty good in my opinion," Lucas replied.
"I wonder who we're gonna meet at Beacon though," Ruby said.
"Hopefully better than 'vomit boy'," Yang replied.
Then Lucas gagged at the smell of puke and saw it was on Yang's shoe.
"Oh Yang, gross," Ruby gagged, "You got puke on your shoe."
"Gross, gross, gross, gross," Yang repeated.
"Get away, get away!" Ruby cried, "Get away from me!"
"AHH not in my direction," Lucas replied, "Not near me, not near me!"
And so, Lucas, along with sisters Ruby and Yang set out for their first year at beacon. What was in store for Lucas was still unknown. But one thing's for certain, is that this is the beginning of a new life for the young man from earth.
Outro music is "Wand'rin' Star" By Lee Martin.
I was born under a wandrin' star
I was born under a wandrin' star
Wheels are made for rollin'
Mules are made to pack
I've never seen a sight that didn't look better looking back
I was born under a wandrin' star
Mud can make you prisoner, and the plains can bake you dry
Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry
Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to
Which with any luck will never come true
I was born under a wandrin' star
I was born under a wandrin' star
Do I know where hell is?
Hell is in hello
Heaven is goodbye for ever, it's time for me to go
I was born under a wandrin' star
A wandrin' wandrin' star
(Choir)
Mud can make you prisoner, and the plains can bake you dry
Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry
Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to
Which with any luck will never come true
I was born under a wandrin' star
I was born under a wandrin' star
When I get to heaven tie me to a tree
Or I'll begin to roam, and soon you know where I will be
I was born under a wandrin' star
A wandrin' wandrin' star
