Chapter 10: Bad Canon; Good Versus Omnipotent Incompetents

There is a joke in this. Slade is controlled and overshadowed by the god of the underworld, while Ares is using Richard's body to go on the attack to save their worlds as he claims he has the intent of doing. But, what if that's not all? What if there is some bad blood between the gods that was shoved under a rock. Find out!

Shoji flew as his dark dragon self after Dick to get Slade's god – form to yield. Ann and Aiden took after Anya, who was not a fake. She was Ava, their sibling for a long enough time to know that she needed their help. But, why? What had corrupted her when she'd done the right thing then too? Was it that easy to mask and not see it?
Slade swung a purely black sword with miasma energy reaping the ground up as a scythe could. Richard held a shield and what looked to be a flail. If Ares was on to what the other god was planning, who would spare the man being swung into the air like a puppet with its strings cut?
~ You have to fight back!! We're all counting on an answer….and war…. won't be how it ends…. Slade! ~ Dick's blue eyes were helmeted by Ares' magic as his flail fell to the ground, rattling it to smithereens in one blow.
"Dad! Don't kill anyone! You should tell the god of war to buzz off!" Aiden was right; Dick was just upset that as he was, he needed the armor of a god from another realm to save his kids. But, so too did Slade if he ever was set free.
"Dad! His throne! There is something there!" Anna was in flight as her blasts pushed Anya to conjure up a pack of icy hounds of black smoke and mist. ~ GODS DO NOT YIELD TO THOSE UNCHOSEN BY FATE, MORTAL – BOUND!! ~ She echoed with a palm up, and as the magic rained upon her wings….Anna was truly stuck.
She shrieked as a bird of prey, something ancient in her voice as the fire, burst open. In blood red as her body changed to that, of a hybrid child of the fire bird. Her eyes were hidden behind smoldering heat, while her feathered arms and legs let her soar even higher.
~No! Stop her, she's getting out of control! ~ Verra swerved away from the fight to catch Ava, to stop Anna from turning her sibling into a dripping puddle of icicle drops. ~ Too close a call –
~ You are not one of us, defiled spirit prince…. get off of me!! ~

Ami leaned into her mother's side, her fox allies both huddled closely while Kay and Dami sat up front in the car. Pooling it to the place with the most supernatural activity, Kay kept their minds active on the drive while Shoji protected the others. "Anna is not going to know how to keep her head in this; I want to help, but we don't have any magic. Ami needs to be supervised." Dami turned to Kori as she smiled warmly back. "I am very glad you think of her in such a kind hearted way, Damian. You have all come a long way, and as a family you can be stronger for this thought."
"I want to find out why Hades wants this world to change. You said that he was here to return it….to fix it. But they all say that, villains and deity alike." Dami rolled his eyes at the monologue of every crook in his city. Including his grandfather, Ra's.
"Hades in this world isn't an original. You know the universe is like a prism; it refracts light onto many sides. Many universes inside of many –
"Then, was your realm of the spirits not the same, friend Kayu?" Kori asked the old dog.
"It was, once. I actually think it was OUTSIDE of that, like a dream submitted and salvaged through a traverse that humans could not know about."
"Imagination, made you up?" Dami raised a brow. "I find that hard to believe entirely, anyway." He continued. "You exist, but at the same time you can be in ten places at once in many different forms, like omnipotent or even fantasy figures brought…" He stopped. "You, are a myth made into the physical…" He swallowed. "All of this, is like…. a dream?"
"A really old one that is connected through Raku having existed to change it." Kay explained carefully. "If Raku as Roku had never met the Chosen and power sources in the first place, Ami and the whole crew would not be here. Anna would not be a key to this plane's destruction or survival. Ami would not be its light and protection from dark forces, and Aiden would not be the catalyst's reagent; Raku chose him even when he refused. But, he's Spirit. Hades had stepped in I believe to undo the past, to strip away the make believe of this tale and reformat it into something more…believable."
"He's not even real!" Dami exclaimed. "How can he care about us all if he's trying to erase us at the same time?"
"To fix, is to reduce and replace." Kori frowned. "He wished to take Ava away, but I know not why he…. he clings to her heart. There is something very strange about that being." Kori wondered aloud, as the two others also seemed to see the pages unfurl of this unkind tale of mass assimilation. "He, like I said, is not the same. How Ares from Eris's pack was different than he is now with your husband, Kor." Kay said, knowing she wanted to believe Dick was not so self – sacrificing as he'd become. "Just because Slade changed him into a half – meta with a healing ability, shows that Grayson is clearly losing it."
"He is the not!" Kori shot at the younger adult. "My hrnnir knows what he is to be expected to do…. Slade will not listen and nor will this "god of the deceased" that my beloved and children must combat!"
"Is that them??" Haru let her ears raise at the sound of a growl from Kaede's throat. "We're close." She snorted to her sibling. "I can smell demon stink a mile… that - way."

Cy and Mal had regrouped with Cy's kid Jacklyn Stone and her mother and brother at Titans Tower. Karen Beecher fiddled with knobs by the systems main computer to have the place on lockdown when a branch of thick dark ice had the bay overtaken.
"Is this supposed to be an attack, mami?" Jaime battled the air and gusts in the form of insects that ran headfirst into his cannon. Cy made sure to evaluate the attacks from the ground with Bb, Raven and Mal setting up force fields so that the thick sheet of ice could not prevail even a few more stretches. "It's going to persevere…then so shall we!!" Mal held his all, his dragon turning as he left his control to redirect a monster's flame at the ice, so it shattered, but then …
Shards so tall as glacial fjords emerged from their ruined specks. Spires of glass, as Raven looked up to see it.
"I…. CYBORG! ZOOM IN." She commanded, the rest left utterly in awe by what they saw.
"Ava…. it's her…
"Icy palace…." Mal reverted as the glacial mess took to the entire bay, ice and not just any structure. Cy gulped over the line. Bb gawked and shrieked out loud. "Yeah, but even BIGGER!"
Ava's new home they were about to realize, was soon to be their forever winter here on earth.

The ice crept up, surrounding them as Cyborg and Bb swung over to see the damage – and creation of a new landmark.
"WAAH!!" Gar was the first to lose his arm as it started to become encased in a deadly thickened icy cast, the rest of his body fighting to chip that away as it scalded him with frost bite. Cy rammed against the sheet, yet found it to thick to break. He pulled out his arm to warn the team. "Stay at the tower, don't go out; I repeat. The icy is freezing anyone and anything it touches….no! GAR!! DO –
~ Vic!! ~
Karen shouted, her wings buzzing anxiously as Jackie tried not to imagine her father…
"Dad! You can get outta this! We'll fight it, I have friends on the inside to." She got out what looked to be a pocket watch and held it to her eye level as it spun.
~ Erebus, God of the ego and dark soul…. come out. Be present in our time of need!!~
"Vic…we'll stay in an' find a way, hold on! Don't lose me, please…" The link cracked as an icy song played on. ~ I…. will…I…. won't disappear…~
She broke down a bit, her old self as shattered as their time not kept alive. "Jackie." Karen wiped her face, her fists pumped. "Keep castin'." She told her youngest. "We are stayin' right here until this ending is through."

Raven was in no better shape; she and Mal both stood as ice statues before the keep of the winter fan queen. The heart of fire burned in but his chest as Rorek's form burst apart the shards for his body to revert and cast away his icy casket. He was freed, so he limped over to Raven, his teammate and so much more. "Sweet Raven…. I cannot free you on my own, dear gods…I….have –
~ Lover boy! The tower is blocking the attack, you have to leave em and fall back. ~
"Karen??" Mal let go of the arm of his ally's and took to his comm. "How can I just, leave her here? Or any of them!"
~ We know Ava's gotta be behind this snow storm, Mal. Raven is asleep. I see my baby's puls in black and white on the screen. They are still in there. ~
"Then, I could transport –
~ Cursed, ice? If that stuff gets into the tower…. ~ Karen shook her head. ~ My readings don't lie. You have to come back. Let her go until we can fix this, together…I'm sorry. We can't bring them with us. It's too dangerous. ~ Mal's elven ears dropped at the thought of Raven being buried or…
~ I…. I, there must be a way. ~
"Mal! It's too-
A gust of magic had the group run to the window to see Mal casting a spell. "If my fire can only save you this, once…. then you'll turn to what I am. While for now, your allies need a hero, not a wizard without a quest…I'm swapping roles. This ice shall be for my demise, sweet Raven…I'll await your return…" She and he…were. Swapping.
Seconds post, the mist swirled and gusts of white has settled….he was in ice now, she was?...
A bird set free, as her dazed, tormented face understood to teleport to the tower and stay safe.
While Mal's far too chivalric acts were anything but an act of one's devotion. He loved her, as a familiar to a powerful sorceress and as something that they could never be again. Encased in that glacial pile, he had never looked as heroic as she saw of his humble disposition today.
Raven collapsed into Julian upon her landing, meeting not the eyes of a young man, but a God of Shadows.
"Erebus…." She collapsed to the floor, while the darkness took her back to heal and center herself.

Slade has Hades, Ami has Amaterasu, Ava has Lady Reia's power, Dick made a deal with Ares and Erebus overshadowed Julian since he can't go out of his realm without enough power. As you know, snowflakes don't really cast a shadow and a white blanketed world is not his first vacation home choice. What happens next?
