Kairi Cullen woke up on her side on her bed, hearing the rain on the windows, which she had always enjoyed listening to the rain, it was one of her favorite sounds in the world.

It has been 12 years since her Daddy had saved her from Billy, she has been calling him that since she was 5. She sighed, closing her eyes again and hugged into her pillow. She was about to be back in her dream world until she felt a cold hand on her shoulder and she looked to see her daddy, Carlisle with a smile.

"Hey, it's time to wake up."

Don't wanna." she said, hiding her face into her pillow.

Her dad chuckled softly. "Come on, I know you're tired, but it's a school day."

She still didn't move to get up, she felt his cold hand on her forehead, checking her temperature. "Come on, Kairi. You don't want me to get Emmett to wake you, do you?"

Her eyes snapped open and she sat up. "You wouldn't!"

"Try me."

She sighed. "I don't wanna go."

"Why not? You're better."

"Mike's gonna be there."

Her dad sighed as he sat on the bed, his cold hand taking hers. "Do what you've been doing, just ignore him. But let me know if he becomes worse. Now while Emmett won't be there to begin with, the others will join you at lunch time."

Kairi nods, she knows what they're doing. Not hard to figure that out. She gets up and her dad kisses her head gently, he leaves the room, closing the door behind her.

She stands up, stretching and she walks to the closet to get a white tank top, a pair of jeans with rips in them and her white high top trainers from the closet.

She tied her blonde hair up into a ponytail, she picked up her high school musical bag and left the bedroom, heading down the stairs.

Kairi got to the kitchen to see her adoptive mom, Esme putting out her favorite type of breakfast, chocolate ready break with a bowl of grapes and a glass of chocolate milk.

She sat down at the table and started to eat, she put the tv on to find out someone had been mauled on by a possible animal, but Kairi knows better.

It's a nomad vampire, the kind that drinks from human blood rather than animal blood.

Her mom turns it off as she starts to slow down.

"Are you okay, little Kai?"

Kairi nods, but doesn't say anything. "I'm okay."

She finished up quickly, taking it to the sink and washed it up. She picked up her bag, gave her mom a hug and picked up her stateboard, leaving the house and skating her way to the school.

She slows down as she arrives at the school, she picks it up and walks into the school. She is aware that the chief of police's daughter will be arriving today, but Kairi stays away from normal teens, they don't like her too much since she doesn't seem normal.

Kairi went into the school, going to the music room first to play until school started.

She enters the music classroom, walks over to the keyboard and starts to play the song, On my Own from the musical broadway, Les Miserables.

She stops as she feels a hand tap her shoulder, she looks to see the music teacher, Miss Alan.

"Kairi, you're not here until this afternoon."

"I know…I just…." she said, not sure what to say.

"Needed to be alone. I get it, I know teenagers are a lot harder nowadays, but you're just a teen yourself or is it because you haven't come out yet?"

Kairi nods. "I haven't told my family yet."

"Dr Cullen just wants you to be happy, you shouldn't be worried about it. But I know it is hard." The kind teacher said, "I mean there are a lot of lesbians in rugby, that was how I met my wife."

Kairi looked at the teacher to see if she was lying. But she could tell that she was speaking the truth.

"I just need time."

"Are you being bullied again?" she asked in a suspicious voice.

Kairi shook her head, she just hated Mike with his constant staring.

"Then why are you here?"

"Waiting for the bell." Is all she said.

"It's better to be honest in the long run."

"But I hate it."

Not really, Kairi hates to lie to people. But in this situation she will use it if she has to.

"I KNOW!" her teacher said in sascram. "It took you over 2 months to tell me that you were being bullied."

Kairi pouted and sighed, she put her earphones into her ears but then she remembered something on the notice board she saw last week.

"Miss Alan….Is a dance competition going on?"

Miss Alan smiled at the young girl, only her music teacher knew how passionate she is about dancing. It was the only time the young girl had a true smile on her face.

Miss Alan went to her desk and brought her the notice.

Kairi couldn't help but smile at the welcoming notice, she nodded at her and followed her to the desk and signed in for the dance showcase with writing in the following song, Tomboy by Destiny Rogers.

The bell suddenly went off and Kairi got her stuff together, that was when Miss Alan spoken up,

"Remember to try and find a dance studio or a place to practice in."

Kairi nodded and left the room, she went to her first class, english. She loved english because most of the time it was reading books, which Kairi loved to do. Or they watched a movie, which she also loves with a passion.

Mr Manson started his lecture about Shakespear, while Kairi didn't like most of the stories because of tragedy, but she can't deny that they had great lessons to help her in life everyday.

After two more classes, which one of them she had to share with Mike, she was finally at the lunch hall.

Kairi looked at the hallway that her brothers and sisters would come through.

But she saw the new girl, Isabella Swan.

She was pretty, Kairi couldn't deny that. She had chocolate brown eyes, she was thin, pale and had long brown curly hair.

She felt some sympathy for her as she spied Eric was on one side while the most popular girl, Jessica was on the other.

But once the new girl sat down, Kairi watched as they spoke and Bella looked ahead, so Kairi smiled as she spotted her favorite brother, Emmett.

Kairi got up and went to him, Emmett pulled her into a hug and ruffled her hair, which earned him a smack to the arm.

"Get off, big oaf!" she said.

"Aww, don't be like that, bambi." he laughed.

They went to the table and Kairi heard Bella ask Jessica, "Who are they?"

Jessica looked at them, which made Kairi blushed..

"That'sEdward and Emmett Cullen, and Rosalie and Jasper Cullen." Jessica said, £the one who left was Alice Cullen. They all live together with and his wife."

The new girl looked at our table once more.

"What about that girl?" Isabella asked Jessica.

"Oh…that's Kairi Cullen. She's 's adoptive daughter. He's her godfather but he adopted her at a young age."

"She's really small." Isabella said.

"yeah, she was abused or something like that."

Kairi blushed, she hated it when people thought that she made it all up, it's the reason why she never lies.

"They are….nice-looking." Isabella said.

"Yes!" Jessica agreed with a giggle, "they're all together though. Emmett and Rosalie, and Jasper and Alice, I mean. And they live together."

Kairi blocked them out, she hated how the kids at the school always spoke horrible things about them. But she knew she just can't say they're soulmates or vampires otherwise her dad would be in so much trouble.

Then she felt someone poking her arm so she looked at Emmett with an annoyed look on her face.

"Have ya eaten yet?"

Kairi shook her head, "not my fault you're late."

Emmett let out a big laugh, "little brat."

But then his face solemn up and asked, "What's up?"

"Just people saying mean stuff." she said.

Edward looked at the table that has the new girl and her friends, then back at Kairi and he told her in a gentle voice,

"Just ignore them, it's not like they know about what we are." he told her.

Kairi opened her mouth to also tell him that they're were talking mean stuff about her, too. But she kept quiet.

Emmett bought her food but she just picked at her food, not feeling very hungry at that moment. So she just put her earphones in and wrote in her dairy.

Kairi was in science class, bringing and reading over her notes while doing her best to ignore Mike's stares.

She notices Isabella sitting next to Edward, and judging Ed's eyes, Kairi reckons he hasn't hunted in the last few days.

She paid attention when the teacher, MR Banner started his lecture. Kairi didn't like biology too much since she struggled with handling certain things in the class.

If anything she just wanted to go to the music class or to the library instead of there.

When the bell rang, Kairi watched as Edward got up before anyone else did. She put her things away into her bag and left the classroom but not before she heard what Mike was saying to the new girl,

"He's a weird guy, If I were lucky enough to sit by you, I would have talked to you. You should see what Kairi is like, she's always on her own, not quite girly."

Kairi's feet sped up to get away from the talking, but she could hear the bad voice at the back of her mind again.

"What if he speaks the truth?" the voice says in Billy's voice, "What if there really is something that is completely freakish about you?"

"No, I'm good. I' not a freak, or a bad evil sinful girl. I'm good." Kairi said as she slid down a wall as she felt her chest tightening up so she curled up into a ball and places her hand against her ears, trying to block the voices out of her head.

But she couldn't.

Suddenly a pair of hands came to her arms which made her flinch and give a small and very frightened cry.

"Bambi, it's all right!"

She knew that voice. But who was it again….?

It wasn't Billy or Mrs Lerner….so who?

"Bambi…. You're all right! You're safe, take some breaths in with me."

Emmett.

Emmett was safe, her big brother will always keep her safe. So she did as he told her and it ade the voice and her to calm down.

"You want to go home, little bambi?" he asked her.

Kairi shakes her head, "No."

"What scared ya?" Emmett asked her gently.

"Mike was saying bad things about me, I got scared and the voice at the back of my head went off."

Emmett pulls her in for a hug and Kairi melts into it, feeling safe with her favorite older brother's teddy bear hugs.

"All right, Bambi." he said, letting go of the younger girl, "Let's head to your next class and get through the day."

With that being said, she went through the rest of the afternoon doing her classes, counting down the hours to when she will be safe at home once more.

Once she was at home, Kairi wrote in her diary, like she does every night due to the recommendation of her therapist.

Dear Diary,

Today a new girl, Charlie Swan's daughter, arrived. So she had a lot of attention, and didn't look like she was enjoying the attention, though.

But people, mainly Mike, still talk bad stuff about me and my family. It really did hurt that they think that something is wrong with us, mostly me.

The bad voice came back today again, telling me how I deserve the way the other kids treat me. But Emmett came and took away the bad thoughts and voice with one of his teddy bear hugs.

But sometimes I wished I did die or that Billy killed me when he had me.

So Today…was a bad day.

Kairi closed the notebook and laid on her side, tears falling from her eyes. But she didn't let the sobs come out of her mouth.

She isn't sure how long she laid there on her side, a long time judging her limp her arm and hand is starting to become, but she suddenly heard a knock. She didn't answer then she heard the door open.

"Bad day?" her dad asked her as he sat on the edge of her bed.

She doesn't answer him but she did give a small nod.

"Can I touch you?" he asked gently.

KAiri shakes her head, she didn't want anyone to touch her at this moment.

"Ok. Can I read your diary entry?"

Kairi nodded, she can allow that. At least it meant that she didn't need to talk. She could feel him getting off the bed and going to her desk.

It was quiet for several minutes, then she felt him sitting down on the bed again.

"Kairi, look at me." he said, gently but firmly.

She turned her head to look at him, he gave her a sad but understanding smile.

"Kairi, they don't understand why you're different compared to everyone else. If anything, they don't wish to. But you can be better than them. Just ignore them, they are trying to get under your skin just to see if you'll have a reaction. Just ignore them and Mike."

Kairi sat up and wrapped her arms around him, seeking his comfort. And he wrapped his arms around her, keeping her safe from the cruel world that is on her shoulders just like he always has.

So Kairi spent the rest of the night down the stairs with her family, spending time playing the piano, playing " To Build a Home" by the Cinematic Orchestra. Then later she watched a movie with Emmett and fell asleep in his teddy bear embrace.

Kairi woke up as she felt someone walking with her in their arms, she looked up to see her dad.

He looked down and gave her a smile, "Go back to sleep. I'll tuck you in."

Kairi nuzzled into his shoulder and fell asleep.

The only thing she hopes is ... .that tomorrow will be another day.
