Once the Chase family's plane had set at the Cleveland airport, Corda and Buffy exited and Corda pulled out the prototype scanner Oz had built using Earth technology. It couldn't do as much as its Alteran counterpart, but Oz had been very careful about making sure it could detect the energy that leaked from a tear. She began scanning the city.

"Cleveland is alot bigger then Sunnydale, but fortunately, Oz does good work and made sure this beauty could scan a fifty mile radius." Corda said. "We're going to have to rent a car, I'm reading rift energy twelve miles from here. Once we get there, make sure your shield is on. There's bound be demons in the vicinity."

"I can't believe Giles forgot to tell us about Cleveland having a Hellmouth." Buffy said, as they headed to the car rental place.

"Nothing else we can do now but start cleaning the place up. And given that it's so much bigger then Sunnydale, that's going to take awhile." Corda said.

"I've been wondering if we should scan L.A. Faith says there's a never ending influx of demons and vampires in the city."

"Would probably be a good idea, but it's even bigger then Cleveland. Our best bet is it to see about producing a satellite that can scan world wide for tears, then deal with them. Following rumors and scanning city by city could take centuries. If we want to get even more ambitious, we could figure out something similar to what we did with the Replicators, find out if there's a specific energy that could destroy them and broadcast it over the whole world."

"That would be ambitious. I've been thinking about something else. Did the vampires survive after your people left Earth, feeding on animals or something?"

"Well, what we had to deal with looked alot different from what I understand. The description I remember hearing said they had permanently bent knees and elongated ears. The creature that animated them preferred a different host to humans, or seem to, an animal that was already physically studier then humans, that we called a Turik. Somewhat similar to an orangutan. They likely died out and then they chose humans hosts and realized they didn't stand out as much and could use the memories. A trade off, it would take longer to modify the body and make it stronger, but they'd have access to more prey."

"That description sounds familiar, I wonder if any of your people told Earth humans about it."

"Probably, given that someone told them about Atlantis, it stands to reason that other things would be mentioned. We're only a few hundred feet from the tear. Let's park the car and walk from here. Besides the fact that I'd like to stretch my legs, it could be under one of these buildings."

"I could use some exercise myself."

It wasn't long after that they located the tear. Corda placed the container over the spot and opened it. The green energy ball rose up again and then settled to the ground. Slowly it dimmed, but this time didn't go dull.

"It really was alot smaller." Corda commented, as she got it back into the the container. "Let's go secure this in the safe on the plane and then we can do some hunting."

"Finally, as Faith would say, time for some quality violence."

"Oh, I'm right there with you."

After securing the container in the safe, they returned to the area where the rift had been and began hunting. They dealt with several vampires and demons, then found a demon bar.

"Looks like Willy isn't the only who runs a place that caters to demons." Buffy commented, when they went inside.

"Oh look, two little blood bags that want to play on the wild side." A voice to their right said.

Buffy glanced over and said. "Must be truly dumb if he doesn't recognize what I am."

"And what are you, little girl?" The vampire sneered.

"A Slayer." Buffy answered.

The vampire's eyes had just enough time to widen towards an 'oh shit!' expression, when Corda kicked out at a demon nearby and knocked it back, giving herself room to move. Forgoing their pulse pistols in the enclosed space and protected by their personal shields, she and Buffy had no problem taking apart the bar's clients, literally and figuratively. Soon all that was left was six non hostiles and the bartender.

"So, are you a snitch like the one back home or do we need to get creative on your body parts to find out anything interesting?" Corda asked cheerfully.

"I'll tell you anything you want to know!"

"Good, so what's the what?" Buffy asked, equally as cheerfully.

"Huh?" The bartender asked, confused.

"Don't mind her, she's from California. What do you know?"

"There's humans capturing demons, vampires too. They've been here for a few months. They stun, not kill and the demons aren't seen again. I heard they holed up under an factory in the industrial district."

"Damn, sounds like the idiots from the college. Thanks for the info. We'll check into it." Corda told him and tossed several bills on the counter. "Towards the damages, it's all you're going to get. So don't complain."

"So we're heading to the industrial district? Do you know where it is?" Buffy asked.

"I don't imagine it's far from here, given there's alot of warehouses around here, but I plan to ask someone."

"Why didn't you ask the bartender?"

"He was about to pass out. We scared him a little too much."

Buffy giggled. They soon located the industrial district and using the scanner, found one that had a lot of demons in it.
