Over the next 6 months, Ben improved his Sun Devil Slayer Magic. Of course, he still occasionally improved his Dragon Slayer Magic. He didn't take a single job over the next 6 months to focus on improving his magic.
It made his sisters happy because they could play and train with him more often. They also went on a few vacations during that time. Mira and Elfman occasionally joined them, but they never interact with any other Fairy Tail mages because there was no reason to.
Currently, Ben can use most of his Dragon Slayer spells for his Devil Slayer Magic. He just needed to change the magic power that he used. The only exceptions were for advanced spells that were difficult to use.
Some advanced spells like Secret Arts can't be used yet with Devil Slayer Magic. Even medium-level spells like Transformation Magic are also quite difficult to use. He can use the Transformation Magic, but it's still weak and imperfect.
His Sun Devil Slayer Magic mastery was good enough for someone who had only been using it for 6 months. This also reduced the time limit for stopping his body's growth by 2 years. So now he can grow normally at 17 years old, not 18 like before.
"I think it's enough for now. 6 months won't be enough to learn everything, so this is a good result. Now let's move onto the next step, Curses." Ben said after training.
Ben headed to the guild hall to see Roubaul. He would learn about Curses together with the old man. It is a dangerous art with unknown risks, so he needed Roubaul's supervision.
"I will ask again. Are you sure about that?" Roubaul asked.
"No matter how many times you ask, my answer won't change. I will learn this Curse power." Ben insisted.
"You have Devil Slayer Magic and you now want to learn about Curses. I hope you turn into a demon." Roubaul sighed.
"That won't happen. At least my Dragon Seed won't allow it to happen." Ben said.
"That better be the case." Roubaul replied.
Ben then opened the first book and read it with Roubaul's help. A.I Chip scanned and recorded it while Ben read the book. This would help Ben remember the book's content and also learn the book's language at the same time.
These books just contain the basics of Curse Power. There's no Curse type or spell at all in these books. They just explained how Curses worked and they were made. But this didn't disappoint Ben, he was excited instead.
"The method to make Curses and explanations of how it works, perfect. This will be a difficult thing to do, but this also means that I can make my own Curse. There's no need to worry about having different types of power than what I used before. I can make my own Sun Curse." Ben said excitedly.
"Good for you isn't it? You always like to do things your way, so this is perfect. I'm sure if there is a type of Curse in these books, you won't use it and will make your own Curse." Roubaul said.
"I will use it if I like it, you know. Maybe if it has the power of one of my elements. I don't want to use other types of elements for now because it will take time to learn them." Ben informed him.
Ben has learned a lot of magic types, but he always used his Dragon Slayer Magic in these last 5 years. Well, he used some other magic like Requip because it is convenient. But he mostly used his Dragon Slayer Magic.
The reason for that is training too many types of magic will only slow his progress down. He just used that magic as a reference to make new spells and strengthen his magic.
Also, he likes to learn new magic even though he won't use it. It will also help him if he faced enemies who used magic he knew about. He will know his enemies' strengths and weaknesses easily.
Ben learns from the books of Curses for fully understand them. He also tasked A.I Chip to simulate some of his spells if used with Curse Power. As he expected, it was difficult and complicated.
"Don't rush it. Take your time and learn it slowly. It's not like you have a deadline to master this Curse power. You better focus on your Slayer Magic for now and think about Curses every once and a while. Mastering Devil Slayer Magic is more important right now." Roubaul advised.
"You're right. I always said that learning too much at a time will slow my progress down. But now I'm doing exactly that." Ben sighed.
"It's good that you finally realize it. Then you are free now, right?" Roubaul asked.
"Yeah, I guess so." Ben nodded.
"Let's talk privately." Roubaul said with a solemn expression.
"Hmm? What's wrong, Gramps? You're acting rather strange today. Are you sick?" Ben asked, worried.
"I'm fine, just follow me." Roubaul replied.
Ben frowned but he followed Roubaul to the guild hall. The old man told everyone to leave before sitting down on his couch. Ben sat in front of Roubaul and waited for everyone to leave.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Ben asked.
"I have a task for you. It is not a difficult task, but it will take a long time to finish. The good thing is, this coincides with your dream." Roubaul explained why he asked Ben to follow him.
"What is it?" Ben asked.
"I want you to explore the continent of Fiore and find the Magic Library. Your task in the library is to learn everything you want to there. It's what you always wanted, right?" Roubaul questioned.
"Yeah, it is. But why suddenly bring it up and assign me this task?" Ben asked, confused.
"Because I am worried about you. The Dragon Seed inside you is a big problem, but you never have time to focus on solving that problem. I am afraid that it will be too late if you don't start focusing on it now. You need to do it now while you still have 2 things to currently stop your Dragon Seed." Roubaul said.
Ben's eyes widened because Roubaul is right. This is the best time for him to focus on solving his problem. The magic library might contain the best solution other than sealing Acnologia inside his body.
Even if he didn't find another solution, learning from the collection of books in the magic library will help him grow a lot stronger. This journey is what he really needed right now. Not only can he explore Fiore, but he can also train and learn magic in that legendary library.
Still, Ben thought it wasn't the only reason Roubaul gave him this task. He felt like the old man was hiding something, but he doesn't know what. It made him remember the old man refusing to let his ex-students join the guild.
"What about the girls?" Ben asked.
"You can only go with Bella like usual. I will train Wendy and Carla while you aren't here." Roubaul answered.
"Alright." Ben said.
"Also, you need to return before you're 17, no matter what." Roubaul said.
Ben thought it was strange, but nodded and agreed with the old man. What's Roubaul's real reason for insisting he return before turning 17?
