'Have you ever had a threesome?' Dimity blurted out. Agatha narrowed her eyes at her.
'Why, would you like one? I can call a few people, see if they are amenable…'
'No, no, just wondering' panicked Dimity. This was so awkward. Agatha made her feel a bit gauche, a bit tongue tied.
'I don't bite.'
Dimity breathed out slowly.
'Unless you want me to.'
Dimity tensed up again. Agatha was lying across her rose brown duvet casually filing her nails. Short and polished to a natural sheen. She was slinky and assured like a tiger. She could tell that Dimity was nervous.
'I'm not going to make you do anything you don't want to. That's why I got rid of that stack of board games. I don't know why you have them, nobody wants to play them, including you. Burn the lot of them I say.'
Dimity's answering smile was the result Agatha had hoped for. She had posed magnificently on the chaise longue and had whispered to Dimity next time on the motorbike. She was gratified to see Dimity look away and smirk. She had found her mark and was willing to pursue it. She'd walked out with Dimity and requested a lift.
'To…where?'
'Wherever you're going.'
'I'm…going home.'
'Are you sure?'
Dimity tried to take control of the situation but her bravado deserted her again.
'Where…should I be going?'
'To get some chips with me.'
Dimity thought about Agatha's curves pressing against her as they drove and thought she might not want to get out of bed in the morning, too busy dreaming of her. It was marvellous to speed off into the night with a dangerous woman on board. Dimity felt even more reckless than usual and had beamed when Agatha had said how much she had enjoyed it.
'That was exhilarating. It's been a while since I've been on a motorbike.'
She looked slightly windswept and flushed. It looked as good on her. As the tight brown dress she wore. She had directed Dimity to a pizza place she frequented and before long they were talking nonstop over their cats and a hot bowl of chips. Agatha was the owner of a cattery outside of town, further impressing Dimity. Agatha was a little less scary when she talked about her career.
'Let's have dessert.'
Dimity let Agatha order a tiramisu. Allowed herself to take the spoonfuls Agatha fed her. She was still not sure of what was going to happen between them.
'We're going back to yours.'
Agatha was buttering her up and Dimity allowed herself to enjoy it. It had been a long time since she'd had that. She enjoyed the long goodnight kiss that Agatha had left her with. Firm in intention but tenderly bestowed. Agatha was in control and Dimity wasn't going to stop her.
Nothing much had happened that night. But it was only a matter of time.
