Chapter 2: Heroes Across the Stars
Beneath a tree, an apple fell and bumped a small, pink creature on its head. He reluctantly woke up and found that it was daytime. He stood up and looked upon the world, wondering what he may get up to today. This was Kirby, the hero and protector of the Planet Popstar. He's one of the few heroes who managed to turn some of his enemies into now great allies. With the help of his allies and friends, they managed to protect their world and galaxy time and time again.
Kirby stood up and stretched. He looked around. A shadow quickly covered the land above Kirby. He looked up and found Meta Knight's airship, The Halberd. He tilted his head as the airship dropped shadowy particles like confetti. The particles covered the land. They twisted and contorted together until they became strange and menacing creatures.
At Castle Dedede, King Dedede played chess with one of his Waddle-Dees. He saw the shadow of the airship above him loom over him. "What is that? Guard! I order you to find out the cause of this!" King Dedede ordered. The Waddle-Dee guard pointed up. "What? What? What are you?" King Dedede questioned as he looked up. "What is that?!" he yelled. The shadowy particles fell and immediately surrounded the castle with the mysterious creatures. "Guards! Investigate this!" King Dedede ordered.
King Dedede had sent Bandana Waddle-Dee and a Waddle-Doo to investigate these creatures. "Eh boss? What do you think these things are?" Waddle-Doo asked. "Not sure, but if they pose any threat, then the Dedede Platoon will deal with them in seconds," Bandana Waddle-Dee asked. They exited the gates and encountered these creatures. Waddle-Doo unrolled a scroll and read, "Greeting sir/madams. You have trespassed on the land of his royal majesty, King Dedede. Leave the premises now and… Wait? Wait! Don't! Stop!" Waddle-Doo was attacked by many of these creatures and once they were done with him, they left nothing except a floating, glowing spirit.
"Oh. Um… Waddle-Dees!" Bandana Waddle-Dee yelled. The gates open wide to allow the Waddle-Dee soldiers to come out, holding spears at the ready. "Attack!" Bandana Waddle-Dee yelled. The Waddle-Dees all charged forward and confronted these creatures. In a few seconds, over half of the army was defeated by these creatures. "Oh! Waddle-Dees! Retreat!" Bandana Waddle-Dee screamed as she ran back into the castle. All the Waddle-Dees ran back into the castle, screaming as some of them closed the gates behind them. These creatures were trying to break down the gate as the Waddle-Dees pushed it shut. "Oh no! We're doomed!" Bandana Waddle-Dee yelled. "Bandana Dee! How's the attack going?" King Dedede asked. "No good! We're trapped!" Bandana Dee yelled. "Oh, that's good… Wait! What?!" King Dedede yelled. Many of the Waddle-Dees were pushed back as more came along to barricade the gates.
Kirby stared at the surrounded castle from a distance. His face became serious as he made his way to the castle. Kirby ran through Dreamland, but on his way he witnessed these creatures spawning around him. "Hmph," Kirby grunted. The creatures charged at him. Kirby jumped up and landed behind them. He began inhaling them as he ate them. For a moment he was victorious, until he began to gain some uncomfortability which made him spit out the creatures. The creatures were fine and walked towards Kirby like zombies. Kirby spat out like he drank some bad milk. Seeing that he couldn't eat these creatures, he looked around. He found a leaf and ate it. He jumped up and began a transformation sequence. He now wore a cap that was made of leaves. He became Leaf Kirby.
Leaves swirled around Kirby. Kirby unleashed a storm of leaves that smacked these creatures and pushed them back. He tossed more leaves at these creatures and scattered them. From the trees, more creatures came and surrounded the leafy pink hero. Kirby tossed more leaves and pushed them back. One tried to smack Kirby from behind, but he managed to jump above him and he threw a barrage of leaves at the creature, and eventually this creature exploded into the shadowy particles.
The battle continued on, and wave after wave, Kirby managed to defeat these creatures. Kirby managed to leave a stack of shadowy particles on the ground and continued to make his way to Castle Dedede.
Kirby peeked over a hill to see the castle. These creatures still surrounded the premises, until they managed to break down the door and enter the castle. He witnessed many glowing orbs flying up in the air. They all went towards The Halberd. What he least expected is that he saw these creatures carry two statues. He squinted closely and found that these statues were his friends, King Dedede and Bandana Waddle-Dee.
A light shone from The Halberd and a beam of light descended. Kirby took precaution and looked. He saw a furry creature. It was wearing a pilot's uniform with the fur being the color of an ashy gray. His face was wolf-like and it was scarred, along with an eye patch on his right eye. The new creature seemed to be the leader of the other creature as they nodded when he commanded them. The creatures carrying the statues of Kirby's friends walked towards the light and teleported up to The Halberd.
Kirby knew what he needed to do. He puffed up and floated up towards The Halberd. He arrived at the bay and immediately ran behind a cardboard box to hide from creatures who were up here. There were the two creatures who were carrying the statues and walked into the nearby hallway. Kirby moved the box, which to him was heavy, and he tried to get closer to the hallway. Suddenly, Kirby was pushed away into more crates as the cardboard box opened up, revealing a man.
The man was tall and muscular. He had short, dark, military-type hair. He had a tactical gray camouflage suit as well as a bandana tied around his head. "Looks like my cover has been blown," he said. He ran ahead to tackle one of the enemy creatures. Kirby stood up and saw the creatures surrounding this guy. He ran ahead and practically rolled and smacked the creatures like he was bowling. He kicked one behind him. The new soldier placed a C4 on one of the creatures and blew it up. Kirby kicked more of the creatures with a drill kick and knocked them all back in a corner. The new guy threw a grenade and blew up the remaining creatures.
The new guy immediately grabbed Kirby. "Alright. Who are you? Are you working with the Primids?" he asked. "K-k-Kirby!" Kirby said. "Ugh," he sighed, "You're too adorable to be working with these things." He put Kirby down. He grabbed an earpiece by his ear. "Colonel? Ottacon? Mei Ling? Can anyone hear me?" he asked. Kirby tilted his body in confusion. "Mission Log 1987. Solid Snake here. I have successfully infiltrated the enemy vessel, yet my cover was blown. The Primids seem to be collecting people, creatures, or things and turning them into some type of orbs," he said. "Poyo?" Kirby questioned. "I also encountered a pink creature. He seems to be an ally named Kirby. Now to continue my mission. Find out the purpose of the Primids," Snake said.
Snake ran into the hallway and Kirby followed. Snake stopped and turned and knelt down. "Listen pal. I appreciate the assist back there, but I work alone," Snake said. He stood up, turned and continued running. Kirby kept on following. He sighed. "I suppose you can tag along. Just don't get in my way," he said. They hid behind a wall that led into a room. Snake grabbed an eye piece and looked into the room. "Hm. I'm seeing the Primids, as well as three statues. One seems to be an overweight penguin, some small creature, and one of a dog and duck," Snake said. "Alright Kirby, so all I need is to get some information. There's a computer in there. I'm not sure what you need to do, but," Snake said and looked towards Kirby, "Hey? Where did you go?" He looked back into the room to see Kirby sneaking in and heading towards the statues.
Snake snuck in as well and encountered a Primid. Snake grabbed the Primid, smacked it on the ground and punched it continuously until it turned into more particles. "Well, that's one way to get to the computer," Snake said. Kirby looked at the statues. He gave a long stare at them. Kirby saw a glowing flash beneath the statues. Snake was typing into the computer. "Damn. Whoever is in control of these guys, they know to not keep the big stuff just lying around," he said, "Hey? You good?" Kirby looked at the bases and decided to touch Bandana Waddle-Dee's trophy. It glowed brightly until, "AHH! FOR DEDE-" she yelled, "Where am I?" "Poyo!" Kirby exclaimed. "Kirby? What's going on here?" Bandana Dee asked. "Hm, it seems you've made a discovery. Good to know, " Snake said. Kirby went ahead and also awakened King Dedede. "AHHH! PROTECT ME! YOU MAY DIE BUT IT'S A SACRIFICE I'M WILLING TO MAKE!" King Dedede screamed. "Shhh!" Snake chastised. "Hey! You don't tell me what to do!" King Dedede complained. "Just shut up Penguin. You're gonna blow our cover," Snake said. "Wha? Cover! And you don't command me! I am royalty!" King Dedede yelled.
Kirby also decided to awaken the third trophy. The dog immediately jumped on Kirby and licked his face, making Kirby giggled. "Quack! Quack quack quack!" the duck quacked. The dog barked. "Why are we in The Halberd?" Bandana Dee asked. "Yeah! Where's that traitorous Meta Knight!?" King Dedede asked. "Shut the hell up!" Snake yelled. Suddenly a bunch of Primids ran in and blocked the doorway. "See. This is why you need to be quiet," King Dedede gloated. Snake sighed and prepared his battle stance.
The Primids charged and Kirby started off the battle with a drill kick. Snake rolled and tossed a grenade, causing a large number of them to turn into particles. Bandana Waddle-Dee stabbed some like a fruit kebab. The Dog pounced on some of them while the Duck pecked them. King Dedede smacked a couple of them back with his mallet. More of them kept on coming. The group was doing a good job at keeping them back.
"Kirby!" Bandana Waddle-Dee yelled as she tossed her spear at him. "Hey! What are you?" Snake yelled. Kirby ate the spear and transformed. Normally, he would turn into Spear Kirby, but this time, a blue bandana, just like Bandana Dee's appeared on his head, and now he held a replica of her spear while it went back to Bandana Dee. "Well. That's new," she said. "That's new for you?" Snake questioned.
Kirby went ahead and charged in with his spear. They managed to stack a great amount of the shadow particles as they took out a large number of Primids. Then the Primids just came to a stop. They heard clapping from outside the room, as the figure Kirby saw on the ground walked in, clapping slowly. "Impressive," he said. "Who are you?" Bandana Dee asked. "Name's Wolf O'Donnell," he said. "Well, at least I got a name," Snake said. Snake unclipped a grenade and tossed it at Wolf. Wolf smirked as he glowed purple and the grenade bounced off him. "Everyone! Watch out!" Snake yelled.
The grenade blew up and created a hole in the floor. The group fell through it. Kirby looked around as he heard a noise, and before him he witnessed the warp star quickly approaching him. The warp star caught the entire group and flew beside The Halberd. "That damn dog!" Snake said. The dog growled. "Sorry. I meant the other one," Snake said. The Halberd dropped more shadow bugs onto the land, as they witnessed more Primids spawning. "Yeah. What are we gonna do?" Bandana Dee asked. The Warp Star began glowing. "Hey! Does this thing usually do this?" King Dedede asked. The Warp Star hummed and screeched until it flew away from The Halberd and higher. "Hey! What is this thing doing?!" Snake complained. The Warp Star hummed until it flew straight into space at a very fast speed.
Wolf stared at the sky as the group disappeared. "Hm," he mumbled. He then said into a communicator, "You know what to do next."
Down on the ground, a couple hundred Primid turned back into shadow bugs and fused together into a bomb and they began a countdown. Then more Primid did the same, until a good majority of the planet was covered in bombs. They counted down until… Darkness covered the entire world, until it was all there was.
