Note: So a few things to note; firstly, this story takes place during Karry Universe's Kid Swap, so there's a reference there too. Secondly, I apologize in advance to the short-hand text messages in this chapter – there's a reason for it I'll explain at the end; and lastly, this chapter was, in fact, originally a bonus chapter to go up at the end of this story, but we decided to put it in its rightful place in the series. It's a bit of fun in all, so I hope you enjoy – and it's a little different to what we've done before.
Texting the Multiverse
Rae looked at her white board. She had Leona in her arms as she sat on the couch with Clarky looking up at her.
"Let's see what Uncle Prime Suspect has to say for himself…" Rae said, sending her text message out.
Rae: Did u come to my world and mess with the timeline?
Rae sent the message and waited, looking at the screen until a read checkmark came to the message. Then the three little dots indicating Prime Barry was writing…
Prime Barry: Why would I mess with the timeline on ur world?
Rae: says the guy who pretended to be Roy for a day.
Rae was fast in sending her response back and saw Barry saw it right away, so knew he was looking and waiting. She chuckled to herself.
Prime Barry: one time and u never hear the end of it.
Rae almost had to laugh at that, quickly going into her photos and found a picture she was looking for and sent it to him: it was Barry dressed as Roy from when he had gone back to get Olly's blood so Laurel could have her child. Barry-as-Roy wasn't that noticeable if you didn't already know.
Prime Barry: Where did u get the picture?
Rae: Justice League security systems and u didn't answer the question.
Rae waited for a moment on 'read' before a video was sent to her by Prime Barry. It was Skye.
"Hi Aunty Rae-Rae! Daddy been with me all day," Skye said on the videos waving her hand at Rae, making Rae smile. Polly was in the background wagging her tail.
Rae: okay proof enough. U didn't switch Adam Cray into Ray Palmer. I'll cross u off my suspect list.
Prime Barry: Adam is now Ray? Weird. Good luck.
Rae groaned as she put Leona on the couch.
"I guess Uncle Prime Barry is off the hook. And he was such a good prime suspect," Rae said to her daughter, tickling her tummy making the girl laugh. Rae got up and went to the white board, taking a red marker and crossing off 'Prime'.
"Prime Barry is innocent?" Kara appeared in the doorway.
"Yep," Rae said. "There are many more speedsters out there. Sticking to the worlds we know the most. Which are the other Paragon worlds and the Paragon world we have the most contact with is…" Rae took a blue marker and circled the words 'Karry Universe' "Karry!"
"Well Chris has eaten most of what you had the freezer so I'm going to get the extra food we ordered," Kara mused, and Rae waved her off, sitting back down next to Leona and taking her cellphone to find Karry Barry – finding him in her contacts easily, so she opened their text messages and went to write him.
Rae: Did u time travel on my world?
Rae impatiently waited as it took Karry Barry longer to see the message than Prime. When he did, he started typing right away.
Karry Barry: I don't even really time travel on my world.
Rae paused at this. "M.I.A.," Rae called to her A.I. "Connect to the multiverse system. Contact Karry Universe Gideon and ask about if their Barry time travels."
It was a moment later that M.I.A.'s voice was heard back. "According to Gideon, Karry Barry has time travels a few times under the direction of Rip Hunter – and once with his young alternate of you to sneakily collect objects to make a weapon against Zoom. There's also an indication that Kent travelled back to the past, to long before he was born. Besides that, he does not time travel," M.I.A. answered back.
Rae paused and then gave a nod, kind of impressed by her cousin. She turned back to her text messages.
Rae: that actually checks out. Good Barry.
Karry Barry: um…. Thank you?
Karry Barry responded fast as Rae went to cross Karry off the list. She paused as her phone binged again.
Karry Barry: u going to explain why you asked?
Rae: a change in the history of my world has made it Ray Palmer was never given up for adoption.
Karry Barry: and you remember Adam, y?
Rae: I was in Faithfulness.
Karry Barry: weird.
Rae gave a smile as she put her cellphone down.
"Which Earth is next?" She asked Leona, surprised as her phone binged again and saw Karry Barry was sending pictures of his time on Disney Titania. Rae smiled at the girls and Kent. She frowned at the picture of Connor and herself; but Chris photos were interesting.
"Super!" Leona called out at this.
"SuperEarth, good idea," Rae said, giving Leona a kiss as Kara came back with the food.
"Karry's a no-go. Their Barry doesn't time travel," Rae explained to Kara as she went for SuperEarth Barry.
Rae: U have time traveled before. Are you messing with my world?
Rae had remembered when SuperEarth Barry asked for information about time travel from her as she sent this text message. If she remembered correctly, it was to save his Kara from death – lucky, given she was made a Paragon sometime after this event.
SuperEarth Barry: I have twins who are under one. What do you think?
Rae: point taken. Good luck.
Rae sent the message back, not needing more confirmation than that. She smiled though as Barry sent pictures of the twins; some of them with Zari and Adri in them as well, the young girls he and Kara had taken in.
Rae gave Leona a toy she was reaching for as she crossed SuperEarth off.
"Who's next?" Rae asked, looking at the other worlds chewing the bottom of her lip. "Does Hero have speedsters?"
Rae decided to text Mon anyway – he was the Paragon, after all.
Rae: what speedsters do you have?
Rae played with Leona for a bit while she waited for the response; the little girl babbling as Clarky raised his head from his nap before Rae's texts went off.
Hero Mon: Ur alternate, Roe, and ur father. Why?
Rae: I guess none of them r time traveling on my world.
Hero Mon: well, one is retired and the other two r undercover somewhere here, so no.
Rae shook her head, but she hadn't put high hope on Hero being the ones who did this. Rae stood to cross off Hero as Kara came in and took Leona.
"Do you want food?" Kara asked.
"Bring it out here," Rae said, and Kara shook her head in amusement and left the bag of food as Rae went to her next Paragon world: Kingdom Come.
Rae: Do u have any speedsters?
Rae was pleased with the burger and fries that Kara had left and started eating the burger as she waited for the text back.
KC Clark: Only ur alternate on Elysium, y?
Rae: I guess she's not time traveling on my world.
KC Clark: No.
Rae took a fry and dipped it into barbeque sauce as she was surprised as she heard another bing.
KC Clark: wait… time travel… she can do that…. Lois!
Rae put her food down as she took her phone up – fast. She needed to stop this thought in her fellow Paragon before it went too far.
Rae: don't even think about it.
Rae saw he read it but didn't respond. She was suddenly worried for her friend.
Rae: I am serious, Clark. I will come there right now and beat some common sense into you.
KC Clark: don't worry. Diana beat you to it already. She was here and saw the messages.
Rae laughed. She really loved Diana – any version of her, any face she wore. Rae looked at her board, looking at the worlds that she crossed off. She heard footsteps and saw Courtney come into the room.
"Not having any luck?" Courtney asked, taking a seat. Clarky was awake now and moved over so the girl could pet him.
"One Paragon world left. Beautiful," Rae said to her adopted daughter, frowning but going to text Kayla Kent.
Rae: hey Paragon of Humanity. R ur Barry or Mini Me time traveling on my world?
After Rae sent the text message, she wondered why she didn't just text Mini Rae herself to ask – she got on with her after all, and she was one of the Rae's that Rae was close to, but it was too late. Kayla was fast in responding, though.
Beautiful Kayla: They can do that?
Rae: Surprising how this power is less known on some worlds.
Rae frowned at the text messages. If Kayla didn't even know time travel was a power of Speedsters, it was highly unlikely they were time traveling on another world.
"And strike," Courtney joked as Rae shook her head as she crossed off Beautiful and heard another bing.
Beautiful Kayla: I'm still in Britain filming Doctor Who, but Barry is too busy rehearsing for Beautiful on Broadway and Rae is filming her Next Level Chef cooking show.
Rae: Wish them luck 4 me. Especially Mini Me.
A moment later Rae got a picture of Kayla with a guy in front of a blue police box. It looked like it was a promotional photo, taken for advertising purposes.
Beautiful Kayla: who does this look like to u?
Rae: Is that Lucifer?
Beautiful Kayla: glad I'm not the only one who thinks he looks like the devil. It's British actor Tom Ellis.
Rae: weird.
Rae quickly googled Tom Ellis to see if he existed on this Earth and he did. He really did look like Lucifer, even here.
"Are you still on this?" Kara asked, coming back in with Leona who she had clearly fed and changed into pajamas.
"Yes," Courtney said, still stroking Clarky's fur. He was enjoying it.
"Does this actor look like Lucifer to you?" Rae asked, turning her phone around to her wife.
"Wow, yeah," Kara said, shocked at the resemblance.
"Kayla's working with him and noticed it," Rae said, shaking her head putting her cellphone in her pocket. "But I am officially out of Paragon worlds, so time to move onto other worlds." At that, Rae crossed off Beautiful. "Now the worlds we have come into contact with will probably be more likely."
"You're seriously continuing this?" Chris asked, poking his head into the living room, part of a burger still in his mouth.
"She's determined," Kara said as Rae's cellphone binged. "And don't speak with your mouth full," Kara added to Chris.
"It's SuperEarth Kara, I wonder what the Paragon of Courage wants," Rae mused, having texted SuperEarth Barry directly and not the Paragon when she'd reached out to SuperEarth.
SuperEarth Kara: If you were going to text us all y didn't u use the group chat?
Rae blinked. She guessed all the Paragon worlds contacted each other after she'd texted them individually. Rae paused for a moment, thinking over the Paragon group text they kept going with each other.
Rae: I forgot about it. To be fair I thought I would be able to stop at Prime.
SuperEarth Kara: This is driving u nuts
Rae: I need to find out who turned Adam to Ray.
Rae turned from her cellphone, thinking that was it but got another bing.
SuperEarth Kara: Did u try Random Barry?
Rae turned to her board and saw Random World wasn't even written on it. She took her marker and wrote Random World and then circled it. She was surprised she'd forgotten them, actually considering Random Barry had lived here for a few months and she had helped create the world not that long ago.
Rae: Good idea.
"Random Barry, how did I not think of him?" Rae mused aloud. "He has a history of interfering with other worlds, and he lived here for several months not long ago. Completely in his wheelhouse," Rae said a smile on her face. "Hum…. M.I.A., put Random Barry on my phone. He must have a new number on his world."
"Added," M.I.A. said and Rae saw Random Barry appear on her contact list.
Rae: R u messing w/ my world and time traveling?
Kara had sat next to Courtney with Leona in her lap, Clarky looking at Kara and licking Leona before settling back down so Courtney could continue petting him. Rae sat next to her wife as Leona grabbed hold of her. Rae kissing her hand and then she heard the bing of another text message.
Random Barry: What no? I just got off my shift at the jail?
Rae: Oh okay.
"Damn he just got off his shift at the jail," Rae said, looking at the text messages.
"Jail?" Courtney and Kara said together.
"Jail," Leona commented.
"Who's in jail?" It was Chris coming in, now with a tube of ice cream and a spoon in his hand, making the girls look at him.
"Go back into the kitchen and eat," Rae said, and Chris shrugged and turned around. "But what jail is it? I better ask."
Rae: Jail?
Random Barry: I guess that wasn't ur idea then. You should come c the world u made.
Rae: I'll put it on my list.
"I think I need to check out this new world sometime," Rae said as then she got a message from Random Barry with several photos; Rae flicking through it seeing the sign for STAR Jail, a photo of the Random trio, a photo of Sarge the dog in a uniform, and a photo of Barry with someone who looked exactly like him – and herself.
Random Barry: my mom is alive, I have a twin named Max, and a u.
Rae: I'm glad you got everything you wanted.
Random Barry sent over another picture. It was all three Clark faces she knew well: the one from here and Karry, the one from Prime, and even another one who looked like Kingdom Come's Clark.
Random Barry: The Clark Triplets. The one with the same face as urs is Clark. The Prime face is Dean and the Ray-like face is Rodney.
Rae: weird, but kind of cool
"Really need to see this world," Rae mused. "But I think he's innocent in this history change. Damn, and such a good suspect." Rae crossed off Random from the board. "Um… I don't know… What about Mutant?"
"I know my alternate well from there," Kara said at that.
"Really?" Rae asked.
"We bonded during Crisis. I'll message her for you," Kara said, and Rae got behind the couch and kissed Kara's cheek.
NJ Kara: my wife is giving me a headache. Did ur Barry time travel on my world?
"Headache?" Rae asked as they waited for the response.
"In a nice way," Kara said quickly, looking back and kissing Rae.
"Not in a nice way for me. I'm going to go up. This has started to bore me," Courtney said, getting up and heading up the stairs as a response came in. Clarky whined at losing his pets.
Mutant Kara: Stalker, nope, we have Jason here to worry about.
"Jason?" Kara asked. "But Kal is a teen there. How can she have Jason?"
"They don't, but they are close to Karry Universe, and they have a Jason," Rae said.
NJ Kara: Karry Universe Jason? Y is he there?
Mutant Kara: Nearly killed his mom.
That shocked Kara and Rae. Lois was Kara's adopted mom here, after all and if anything happened to her… it scarcely bared thinking about.
NJ Kara: …..
Kara sent the three dots. looking at the words. Jason on Karry Universe had nearly killed his mom. That would be Lois.
NJ Kara: I'm going to go check on Lois.
"I don't think you need…" Rae started but Kara handed Leona to her and then ran out the door. "I better make a note to ask Karry about Jason," Rae said to Leona, kissing the top of her head.
"Did everyone abandon you?" Chris asked, coming out of the kitchen this time without ice cream or any sign of food.
"I still have Leona," Rae said kissing the top of her daughter's head. "And Clarky." Clarky gave a bark from his spot. "I need to think of another world." Rae looked at the board.
"What about the Alien one?" Chris asked.
"Alien? Oh, Alien Earth. The only speedster is my father and…" Rae stopped there, not knowing how to express this. Her father's journals were the ones who warned her how bad time traveling could be. It was why she had the time traveling rules herself without having to really mess up time to learn it. The idea of a version of her father coming to her world and messing with history was unthinkable. "He wouldn't do this?"
"Is he the only speedster there?" Chris asked.
"Good point. There is a clone of Prime Barry who is named Malcolm who my dad adopted," Rae said, taking out her phone.
Rae: someone is messing with history on my world.
Alien Jay: r u accusing me?
Rae: no, what's Malcolm up to?
Alien Jay: deciding if he should marry Lucy or not.
"Lucy?" Rae mumbled at that, staring at the text message for a moment. She only knew one Lucy.
Rae: Lucy Lane?
Alien Jay: Yes
A moment later a photo of Malcolm and Lucy together came up. The smile on Malcolm's face was obvious. He looked the way most Barrys looked like with Kara. It wasn't a surprise that this version of Barry hadn't ended up Kara, given Alien Earth's Kara was firmly with her Mon-El.
Rae: tell him I said to put a ring on that finger.
Alien Jay: will do, and I would never let him mess with time on any world. Sorry, we're innocent.
"Good idea, but didn't happen," Rae said to Chris now. "We've got to think about a world… Why would someone come to this world and mess with history in such a stupid way?" Rae looked at the board as she got off, wrote on, and then crossed off 'Alien'. "Oh, Bounty."
"The Bounty Hunters?" Chris asked.
"Chwis," Leona yelled, and Chris took the girl.
"If they had a bounty that showed up on this world and that bounty time traveled, their Rae or Barry would follow," Rae said, "and they could have easily messed with something small causing the stupidest change."
"It's a theory," Chris said as Rae took out her cellphone to text her alternate.
Rae: did u and Barry mess with my timeline on one of ur bounties.
It took a moment before Rae saw the three dots of her alternate writing back.
Bounty Rae: haven't been to ur world since the Iris killing Iris thing.
Rae: damn.
"You believe her?" Chris asked, seeing the response where he was.
"Yeah, I don't think she would lie," Rae answered, as another text came through.
Bounty Rae: need help tracking someone down?
Rae: I'm on it. If I need help will ask.
Her bounty alternate sent back a thumbs up back and Rae put the phone down.
"I'm going to go put this one to bed while you're obsessed," Chris said, nodding to Leona and Rae noticed her daughter did look tired. Rae gave a nod at this as Chris went up the stairs.
"Amazonian?" Rae mumbled to herself, deciding to text her alternate there. Clarky had since put his head down to snooze once more.
Rae: did u time travel on my world?
It took a lot longer than the others before Rae got a message back from this world.
Amazonian Imra: it's Imra. My wife still has problems with technology. She says no.
Rae: any other speedsters there who could have?
Amazonian Imra: Barry. I'll ask her.
Rae waited, assuming Imra was asking her Rae, being the 'her' of the test message, before the three dots came back.
Amazonian Imra: she just started laughing and won't stop.
Rae: well that's my answer.
Rae gave a small laugh herself; if the thought of Amazonian Barry time traveling was that funny to her alternate, no way he did it – and her alternate was far too Amazonian to do something so stupid and lie about it. If she did her mother in Diana would probably have something to say. It was sad though that her Amazonian alternative didn't want to know Barry – he was a brother to her, after all.
"What about Little Rae?" Rae asked herself now; her Splitsville alternate was here a lot. It was possible she come here when Rae was gone and made a mistake.
Rae: R u or Barry messing with time travel on my world.
Rae added Barry to the text as she did, remembering Splitsville Barry was a new speedster himself. He could have time traveled by accident.
Little Rae: I know better.
Rae: Barry?
The dots went on for a while, indicating a longer text message.
Little Rae: haven't showed him time travel yet. Besides, he and Cait are having marriage problems.
Rae: he could go find Kara if they split.
Rae kind of smiled at the thought of Splitsville Barry finding Kara in an event of a divorce. She was used to alternates of her cousin being with Kara after all.
Little Rae: and be her 4th ex-husband. Lol. Barry will figure out how to say sorry to Cait.
Rae: 4th ex-husband?! Who are her 3 exes?
Rae was shocked at the number of exes that Kara had on Splitsville. She didn't know Kara got divorced. In fact, Kryptonian were very anti-divorce, it wasn't even legal on Krypton. Look at what happened to several Astra's and Nons, after all.
Little Rae: James Olsen was her first. William Dey was her second and her third was Winn.
Rae: well, I can see why she divorced James. Ur world is named Splitsville for good reason.
Little Rae: well u named it.
Rae smiled at the back and forth of the messages, but figured that the bantered with her younger self proved her innocence anyway. Crossing off Splitsville from her list, her eyes fell on the name 'Gender'.
"Gender Earth… Bailey there was nice, but why not give her a message?" Rae said with a shrug.
Rae: r u time traveling on my world?
Gender Bailey: if I went time traveling I would save my mom.
Rae: Don't go making a flashpoint.
Rae gave the warning quickly to the female version of Barry, remembering her own Flashpoint and the hell that had been for her. But she smiled as Bailey started sending pictures of the dog they had given her which she named Lana.
"What were all those words me and Prime Barry visited during the Crisis build-up?" Rae asked herself, trying to remember those Speed Force missions which she and Prime had been sent on and went back to her text with Prime Barry.
Rae: remind me what were all the worlds we visited during our Crisis mission?
Prime Barry: this has got to stop
Rae: Barry, Please.
Rae looked at her cellphone, wondering for a minute if Prime Barry wasn't going to text her but then another text came through.
Prime Barry: Red Daughter, Old Justice, Splitsville, Different Power, Blue, Broken, Twin, Sister, Arrow.
Rae: Good memory. Thank you.
Prime Barry: we're debating sending a warning through the system about u texting everyone accusing them of changing history on your world.
Rae: might make this easier.
Rae laughed at the text message as she looked at the list Barry sent her and compared it to the white board. She had already asked her Little self, so Splitsville was out. She also realized Barry had left out Lantern Earth, but knew that world was dead now – thanks more to Uncle Grumpy than actual knowledge of its destruction.
Her eyes, though, went to Different Power. They had brought a Speedster there – a man named Max Mercury, who they found out was an older version of Barry. He had been doing time travel experiments and traveling the multiverse at the same time. She had to find him on her phone, but it was worth it.
Rae: hey Max u were doing time travel experiments when u got stuck in the Speed Force, right?
DP Max: Yes.
Rae: Have u continued them and messed up my world?
DP Max: Nope, haven't left this world. Still getting use to the blue sun.
Rae paused as she looked at the message; she knew the world had a blue sun. Frankie had made sure her goggles would protect her eyes from the brighter light, but she had thought after Crisis the Paragons would make it the normal sun.
Rae: That's still there after Crisis?
DP Max: yep.
Not long later Rae received pictures and the light was clearly bluer not yellow.
"Weird," Rae said, crossing off Different Power.
Old Justice was the next one she was looking at. She and her alternate hadn't gotten along, so she wondered if Old Justice Rae was making a joke on her.
Rae: are u messing with me?
It took a while to see it come up as read and then longer for a text message to come back.
Old Justice Rae: why would I mess with u?
Rae: idk, but Adam Cray randomly turned into Ray Palmer on my world.
Old Justice Rae: kind of owe u my life. Not messing with u.
Rae gave a nod at that. She had saved her Old Justice counterpart; Rae hadn't expected her Old Justice counterpart to text her again. A moment later she received a photo of Clarky's alternate, who was named Koda, and a baby.
Rae: didn't u have a miscarriage?
Old Justice Rae: Yes, Bounty Barry brought this girl from New Daxam. She's biologically ours and Mor's. Me and Gal are going to raise her together.
Rae: congrats.
"Well, that counts out her," Rae said to herself. "Twin Earth, maybe? They have two speedsters."
Rae: did u or Hunter come to my world and mess with time?
Twin Kara: it's Kara. Barry and Kayla went to Africa on assignment for CatCo. Didn't bring cells.
Rae: what about Hunter?
Twin Kara: died in Crisis.
Rae bit her lip. She was surprised he hadn't been bought back after Crisis but there were randomly some deaths from Crisis that just didn't make it back. Even she as a Paragon didn't know the logistics of it. Hunter was their reason for their Speed Force visit though so maybe his death was there to save Barry. She didn't know. She may never know.
Rae: oh, sorry. Hey, don't Barry and Kayla have a kid?
Twin Kara: Debbie went with them. She's very cute.
Rae gave a small smile sure of that; Barry made cute kids with Kara. So, did she.
She waited a moment and wasn't disappointed when Twin Kara sent over pictures and then a video – it was Kayla and Barry doing their video with Debbie in their arms; she looked more like Prime's Skye than Karry's Nora or Alura. It was really cute though, and she sent heart emojis back.
Broken world was the next one on her mind from their Crisis missions. There had been time travel involved in that adventure, too.
Rae: Have u been time traveling on my Earth?
Broken Rae: I am pregnant. And it's not fun as a speedster. Trust me.
Rae gave a small smile but then a frown, remembering who the father would be. The idea of her and Clark being together was still weird to her. Even Connor and her Mini self was weird.
Rae: should have used an artificial womb like I did.
Broken Rae: that's an option?
Rae: Kryptonian option, actually. What about your evil brother form the future?
Broken Rae: the evil one is still dead and mine is not there yet.
"I did kind of like the evil grown up one," Rae said to herself, but decided not to text that back as pictures came in. It was herself with a big pregnant belly and a familiar dog resting it's head on it – one of the Krypto/Misty pups they had given out; Clark had named it Minor, if she remembered correctly, and had acted like a three year old when he grabbed the dog when giving it away.
"We gave Betrayal that beautiful dog," Rae mumbled at herself, remembering the dog they gave that Barry and went to text him.
Rae: have u been doing any time traveling?
Betrayal Barry: oh time traveling, great video game idea. Thanks.
Rae: not what I meant.
Betrayal Barry: I don't time travel and my company's new updated system is coming out.
Rae: have fun. How's Lady?
Betrayal Barry: great. I'll send a picture.
Rae smirked as Betrayal Barry did what he said and sent the photos.
Lady had grown some but was still a beautiful pup as ever. There was a photo of her in a bowtie as well, clearly at Barry and Kara's wedding when she was a smaller puppy. Then, a photo of Barry, Kara, and Lex Luthor with Lady at Barry's feet inside the White House. Rae, once again, sent heart emojis as she smiled at the photos.
"Blue?" Rae asked herself and decided to message Blue Barry. She'd forgotten about her board of suspects now.
Rae: have you time travelled on my world?
Blue Barry: no, kind of busy?
Rae: why? What's going on?
Blue Barry: Long story but basically my Rae has a new power…
Rae: Oh. Good. Her old power sucked.
Blue Barry: You're telling me. Good luck with whatever's going on there.
Rae: Thanks.
Rae noticed people were texting back faster and wondered if Prime Barry had sent a warning out. She didn't care, either way, and went for Sister Earth. Her Rae there was training a Barry, to be a speedster hero, from what she remembered.
Rae: Have u been training Barry to time travel on my world?
Sister Rae: No, been in mourning.
Rae paused, seeing that and wondering what could have happened. Sister was one of the only Earths with a Martha Kent who was older. Rae hoped she didn't die.
Rae: what happened?
Sister Rae: Tile, my dog, died.
Rae pouted at this but was kind of relieved it wasn't Martha Kent. At the same time, the death of a dog was also hard. She went to pat Clarky's head at this as she looked out the window and could see some of the Kryptonian dogs playing outside. Sometimes they came here to hide when they didn't want to see the public.
Sister Rae wasn't a Rae she liked, but she would give a dog a good home.
Rae: that sucks. I'm sorry. If u want a Kryptonian dog, I am sure Kara will allow it.
Sister Rae: thanks but I have one of Tile's puppies. Kara, Mon, or Mor might take u up on that.
Rae: let me know and I'll tell Kara.
"I'm down to Red Daughter and Arrow from our Crisis missions," Rae said to herself as Clarky enjoyed the pets. "Red Daughter or Arrow first?" Clarky gave a bark. "Red Daughter it is."
Rae: r u or ur kids time traveling?
Rae continued petting Clarky as she waited for a message, seeing the dots that he was typing.
RD Barry: I learned long ago not to do that, and my kids are still too obsessed with that dog u gave us
Rae: that's nice. How r u doing as a hero?
RD Barry: like riding a bike.
Rae gave a smile at that remembering she and him racing each other. He was faster, due to some type of Speed Force experiment when he'd been taken into the Speed Force. Barry sent over some news article about his hero work to her that made her smile, and then a picture of him, with the dog they'd given them.
"We're down to Arrow," Rae said to Clarky, going to send Arrow Barry a text message.
Rae: Did u time travel on my world?
Arrow Barry: never left my own world.
Rae made a face at that. "M.I.A., has Arrow Barry ever left his world?" Rae asked.
"According to the system, no," M.I.A. replied, and Rae shrugged.
Rae: that rules u out. how is everything going?
Arrow Barry: Good. Kayla is expecting. I am going to be a dad again. Luna's excited to be a big sister.
Rae: That's great. U two make cute kids.
A moment later, Arrow Barry sent a picture of Kayla and his daughter, Luna. Kayla was showing a bit and Rae sent a smiley face to that.
"What other worlds do I know?" Rae asked. She had realized she would probably not get a suspect but was enjoying catching up with the multiverse. "Oh, there was that SnowAllen Barry who attended my speedster bachelorette party." Rae mused, and decided to message him.
Rae: r u time traveling on my world?
SA Barry: y would I?
Rae: idk, but someone is
SA Barry: why?
Rae: b/c someone changed Adam to Ray
SA Barry: I am confused.
Rae sighed, remembering this Barry was a little odd and sometimes hard to talk to.
Rae: never mind.
"I think I went through every world I know, but Dino?" Rae asked, looking at Clarky who gave a growl at that. He remembered that the world had a lot of dinosaurs working with humans and the dog didn't like that. "Do they even have speedsters?" She didn't know much about Dino World, besides their HR Wells was Sherloque Wells and he had a dino partner named Watsun.
Rae: r there speedsters on ur Dino world?
Sherloque: yes, why?
Rae: any chance they came and time traveled on my world?
Sherloque: no, dealing with Dino troubles. Long story, don't ask.
Rae: wasn't going to.
Rae frowned, not sure she wanted to even know what 'Dino troubles' meant.
Sherloque: I can help u make a suspect list. Prime Barry seems like a good place to start.
Rae started to laugh at that, realizing Sherloque probably would have been a good person to work with in this challenge.
Rae: was my first thought but he has a very solid and very cute alibi.
Rae got the video Barry sent of Skye to her and sent it to Sherloque.
"I am out of the worlds that I know. There are plenty I don't know, though," Rae said looking over the list of worlds on the board she didn't know, not bothering to go up and cross off all the worlds she'd eliminated since. "Canary? Why is there a world named Canary…?" Rae shrugged and decided to message them anyway, asking M.I.A. to give her the number of their Speedster, which she saw was her own alternate.
Rae: did u come here and time travel?
Canary Rae: do I know u?
Rae laughed at that. She and Canary had never had direct contact before.
Rae: no, but I ran out of worlds I know.
Canary Rae: well no.
Rae: y r u called Canary?
Canary Rae: Kara is a Lance and called Super Blue Canary.
Rae raised an eyebrow at that, but throughout the multiverse there were a lot of different families who took in Kara. Although she had to pause as she was sure Bounty Earth's Kara was called Super Blue Arrow. She was pleased though when Canary her sent a few pictures of Kara, Laurel, and Sara – one of them normal and one in their outfits. Rae noticing the cat on Kara's shoulder.
Rae: Kryptonian cat?
Canary Rae: yeah, Karry Universe gave him to her.
Rae: nice.
Rae gave a smirk. If Karry Universe gave the cat that meant it had to be Hex's kitten and Hex had come from this sanctuary originally. Animals who origins can be traced here were really spreading throughout the multiverse.
"M.I.A.," Rae called out. "Can you go through the systems and all known facts on other worlds I don't know. Compile a list of the most likely suspects to have changed history on this world."
"Define the parameters of being a likely suspect?" M.I.A. asked back.
"A world that world hops, has at least two speedsters, and at least one of those speedsters has time travelled before," Rae said.
"I will start a list. Considering the amount of information, it will likely take until tomorrow morning," M.I.A. said back.
"Noted," Rae said, going through her phone and deciding to save her favorite pictures of the ones sent to her from the multiverse. She yawned, not realizing how tired she was now, too.
"Still on this?" Rae had known Kara was coming back – she could feel it through their bond, but she was surprised to see Samantha Arias standing next to her.
Sam was Kara's sister through unusual means; created by a Kryptonian named Jax-Ur as a World Killer experiment, so she had powers under the red sun not the yellow. Krypton had banished her to Earth as a baby so she could live a normal life. Jax-Ur had tried to recruit her to help take over the world a while back, but Kara managed to bond with her as a sister had turned Reign over to their side. Sam now worked for Queen Consolidated.
"Hit a standstill until M.I.A. compiles me a list of likely suspects from worlds I don't know," Rae said. "Hi Sam, but kind of confused. I thought you left here going to see Lois?" She asked her wife.
"Well, I couldn't exactly tell Lois I was checking on her to make sure her son didn't try to almost kill her like Karry Universe, so brought Sam with me as an excuse. It was finally time for my adopted mother to meet my sister," Kara said putting an arm around Sam. "And had her to look over Jason."
"I think we don't have a homicidal pre-teen," Sam said now. "Lois is coming tomorrow with her sister, Lucy, and we're going to have a girl's day. Going to spend the night here," Rae gave a nod; Sam had spent some nights here and Kara had put a pullout couch in a room downstairs for when they had guests, since all the bedrooms were taken. They really needed to consider an extension to the farmhouse. Sam had left some clothes and other things there so Sam went past Rae and Kara to the room they would set up shortly.
"So, you didn't find anyone?" Kara asked.
"No, everyone seems clean. But I did get a lot of pictures – some of the dogs we gave out to the multiverse, some kids…" Rae said, and Kara tilted her head.
"You had fun," Kara smirked, feeling Rae's emotions and Rae smiled.
"So, you don't want to see?" Rae asked and Kara sat on the couch to look at the photos. As she did, an alert came up that said Karry Barry had texted Rae. "Wonder what Karry wants. They were the second people I eliminated as suspects."
Karry Barry: I have been voted to tell u to quit it. No one changed Adam to Ray.
Kara was laughing, reading the message on Rae's cellphone and Rae gave a smile as she went to respond.
Rae: someone did, he is Ray now.
Karry Barry: that is weird. U did try Random Barry, right?
"Poor Random Barry, everyone accuses him and Prime," Rae said.
"Including you," Kara pointed out.
"I didn't say I was innocent," Rae added, going to return the text.
Rae: yes, did u know we made a jail he works at on his world?
Karry Barry: no, that's interesting.
Rae smiled as she went back to showing Kara the pictures before she got another text message.
Karry Barry: ur just having fun now.
Kara started laughing again.
"Your fellow Paragons know you well," Kara said, and Rae had to give a smile at that too.
Rae: it was nice catching up with everyone and getting photos. I do still want to know how Adam became Ray and time travel is the only possible answer.
Karry Barry sent a thumbs up and smiley face emoji.
Karry Barry: u know you're always welcome here.
Rae sent a smiley face back, and then leaned into Kara.
"Come on bed, you can obsess over this tomorrow," Kara said, and decided to pick Rae up and brought her up to bed herself. Rae didn't object to this.
Post Chapter Note: Well, I hope you liked this. It was a little different to what we've had before. And again, apologies for the text talk in the text messages – it's how I write texts and I have physically made all these texts for our Facebook page so we can share them, so we didn't want to change the actual messages themselves. Also, since you were meant to be seeing the actually text messages sent and received it makes more sense for people in their late 20s to early 30s to use some type of short hand.
