Chapter 1
How do you feel about isekai?
An isekai is when a character goes into a new world with a set cheat skill or without it. It's basically a fantasy of how an individual would flourish in a different environment.
It is a famous trope in various anime media. It was so famous that many authors used it in so many ways it became so stale. Just because it had a very long title, it would be a good read! Fuck your taste, you degenerate.
Sorry about the rant. I'm a weeb at heart and proud of it. But sometimes, my fellow weebs trash taste makes me ashamed of being one of them.
Let's get back on track.
Why am I telling you readers about this?
I experienced it. And it was just not me, oh no.
About 20,000 people on earth experience this.
Imagine the surprise the entire world had felt when suddenly about 20,000 people from different countries disappeared in motes of light. Some countries didn't see the disappearance immediately as it was minor or no one saw the person disappear thus not reported. But it was pretty damning when famous people suddenly disappeared on live TV or in broad daylight.
The entire world went into panic mode after that.
What happened? Who did this? Are aliens real?
Some countries even started blaming each other, saying about an experimental weapon used on their people. Not even looking at the fact that the country they are blaming was also hit with said disappearance.
Conspiracy theorists meanwhile went rampant in the phenomenon. Some speculated about hidden government organizations. Some threw ideas about alien abductions.
They were right about it.
The alien abductions, I mean.
All 20,000 people are abducted by 1 single alien entity.
I'm actually not allowed to write about this entity but everyone should know. He warned me about sharing this information for my safety but sometimes it's safer if everyone knew. Prevention before the cure ideology and what not.
Do not fuck with the Eternal Dragon.
Don't even speak about it.
Forget about it and ignore everything about it.
Why am writing this then?
Because I met him and it was not pretty.
So what happened to the 20,000 people?
Well, they found themselves pretty confused on the outskirts of a small town of battleon near the kingdom of Swordhaven.
Imagine the local's surprise at the sudden arrival of 20,000 people in a very peculiar event. Luckily for the panicking abducted people, the residents of the town kindly helped the reeling people.
Then we discovered that we had powers.
At the first fireball accidentally thrown, the people started experimenting with what they had. Some had superhuman durability and strength. Some had super speed and dexterity. Others meanwhile had magic.
It was like Christmas as 20,000 people gained powers.
But they aren't out of the woods yet.
We had problems with everything. We literally had nothing on us except our clothes and new powers. The small town can hardly feed an additional 20,000 mouths. Their food can't last in 1 month in this case.
So Warlic the blue mage, a mage who helped us and studied the phenomenon that abducted us, used his connections in Swordhaven to ask help from the king.
Alteon the balance.
Pretty cool name for a king huh? That's my reaction too.
So this old king clad in his pretty gold plated armor came to battleon. When he was in our current state, he immediately asked who is our representative to make a deal.
An old military veteran stepped up for the position.
Ex-General George McMillan.
Together, the two aging men made a deal.
Swordhaven will provide food and materials for us in order to build our civilization in battleon which the residents didn't mind, they're actually happy to have many people making their old town into a city. In return, we will act as the protectors of battleon city and will answer to the call to action when Swordhaven calls for it.
So we became a reserve military unit for Swordhaven to call. The Ex-General didn't like it as most of us are all civilians with zero combat skills. But we needed the deal.
With our current situation we can't support our population within 2 weeks. It must be done.
Fortunately, we had our new powers to fall in once Swordhaven called. Luckily for us, the old Ex-General managed to snag a deal of a 5 years preparation stage which they are not allowed to call us for before 5 years pass.
The following months became a blur for me. Supplies came from Swordhaven in huge bulk. From food to construction supplies. It was a huge surprise to us when we discovered the dwarf race who delivered construction supplies. Turns out, humans aren't the only living race in this world. The world of Lore (this world) is inhabited by many races from the classic fantasy genre. From dragons to slimes, this world had it.
Building a city is pretty easy if you have powers. The Warriors, those who had super strength and durability, easily worked day and night nonstop. The Rogues, the guys who had super speed and dexterity, are very quick in small work like laying down tiles or layering cement. They enhance coordination making it a quick work for them. Magic also speeds up the process. With Warlic's guidance, we used magic to erect walls and move the earth.
Oh! We also cured cancer.
Imagine our shock when we discovered some of us had healing powers. Said healing powers are enough to cure cancer and other terminal illnesses.
It was a huge miracle.
For a year, the small town of battleon became a huge city.
What came next is my hated subject ;
Politics.
Ugh, just remembering the shit show of people posturing to become the city mayor makes me cringe. The fact that king Alteon watched the election speeches was also damning.
In the end, the city government was divided into two.
The civilian faction and the adventurers' faction.
The civilian faction is pretty much like the old democratic government in our world. The adventurer faction was formed by voluntary people who would answer the call of Swordhaven to use their new power in the future.
So let's go to the exciting part.
The adventurers guild.
This guild was formed in order to handle the logistics in handling a bunch of superpowered military volunteers. The guild master, old McMillan knew he can't round up these misfits into a proper military unit so he did what he could.
He appealed to their sense of fantasy.
Just imagine, you got isekaid into a new world with superpowers, don't you just feel like a main character in a story.
That's what the old man used and goddamn it worked.
Over a thousand volunteers flock in the guild.
But the guild had no income. They had zero money making front.
So they resorted to monster hunting.
Monsters in Lore are abundant. Killing and collecting their parts for sale is a pretty good source of income.
Did you know that selling live slimes to Akiba merchants cost about 1000 gold per slime? These merchants buy these slimes because they are good cleaners, eating any trash they find in the area before moving on.
So the guild made these quest systems. They get as many requests from nearby merchants, especially in Lolosia and Dwarf hold, for any jobs. These jobs are then segregated into ranks from E to A. E being small errands like killing mutated rat infested fields. A meanwhile being the most dangerous as it normally needed a whole party of adventurers to bring down a huge target, mostly dragons or undead.
The guild prospered under this system. Their adventurers also gained experience in fighting and learning what they can do with their powers.
Life was good.
Until Chaos came.
