A BLACK HEART i.e. RAGING SEAS 2.0 Chapter 1
A/N:- This is a rewrite of the original RAGING SEAS and I know you guys might be wondering why I am doing it again… The main reason is that I don't know how the other fanfics that I had posted on simply vanished, like gone, completely, without me knowing anything. I was left with "Raging Seas" and uh… I kind of read it again. At the same time, another idea related to this Percy popped into my mind, and then I thought about the original and then decided to just mix the two! And that gave birth to this rewrite with a similar plot and the same characters but more depth and some additional deleted scenes that I didn't add in the first version! Also… I changed the title after some discussions with a reviewer on … Huh… this just feels like "The Justice League" and then "Zack Snyder's Justice League". Funny. This is going to take a lot of time cuz I have to rewrite 60 chapters but no worries… I'll do it! Anyway, let's start with the story! Enjoy!
Hades, the god of the dead, the god that both the mortals and immortals feared alike had never in his entire immortal life felt as petty as he did now as tear drops trailed down his pale face, hitting the ground.
He was kneeling down, his head bowed deep down, in front of the black obsidian grave of the one woman whom he truly loved.
"I'm sorry…." His voice faded off as he stopped his crying, having no more tears left to cry.
He hated his brothers. He hated the ancient laws. And he hated the fates the most.
If it could have been up to him then he would've blasted those old withered hags to bits a long time ago. But alas, he couldn't. So he just blamed himself.
He so wished to go back in time and save her. To go back and give his children the love they deserved. To go back and create the family that they never could have had.
How he longed to…
His thoughts were cut off when he suddenly heard a person speak behind him.
"What are you doing here at this time of the night, mister?" The voice of a child came from behind him.
Hades turned around to look at a boy just three-or-four years old staring at him quizzically with mysterious sea-green eyes. They reminded the god of his sea-god brother but he didn't say anything other than, "The same could be said about you, don't you think?"
"Well, mister, I live here, in this jungle and I come here every night to say goodnight to my mother," The boy said and strolled forward and sat next to Hades, startling him as he began to feel the faint but divine scent of the sea coming from him.
"Your mother?" He asked, pushing every little feeling of blasting this boy to smithereens to the bottom of his mind.
The mysterious child just pointed to the tiny grave that had been poorly made with a few sticks arranged together in a plus sign.
The god was shocked as this was the first time in his visits to the cliff that he actually saw this. "Your mother… passed away?"
The boy nodded and opened his mouth but didn't say anything else.
"What about your father?" Hades asked and the instant expression of confusion on the child's face confused the god as well.
"The only thing I remember is his green eyes looking at me when I was little. After that, I never saw him again," The boy said, a distant look in his eyes. "My mother said that he used to work as a sailor and one day in a terrible storm, his ship drowned along with him."
"Then?"
"Then she used to bring me here, holding me in her arms and pointing to the sky," He used a finger to point to a star in the north. "She used to say, 'There, that's father.' And we used to do this every Sunday. And just like that, one sunday, she was killed."
"How?"
"An enormous creature, like a wolf, but million times bigger."
"Hellhound," Hades said as he felt a pang of guilt in his heart.
"What?"
"Nothing, continue."
"I don't have anything else to say," The child said. "It's your turn now. Why are you here?"
"I lost someone too, and I'm grieving." Hades suddenly realized something. "What's your name?"
"Percy."
"So you live here all by yourself?"
Percy nodded.
Hades sighed. This was a child of Godly Blood and that too a breach of the pact. The same pact because of which Maria had been killed.
He could either destroy this child right now or take him to Olympus and have him killed there, but something from within himself couldn't allow him to do so.
He internally cursed himself and stood up. "How would you like a new life?"
Percy looked at the tall man, confused but nodded.
Hades sighed as he thought about the explanations that he would have to give to Persephone. "Well, then let's start with telling you about your father."
TIME-SKIP-
"You're getting better, Perce!" Ghost Achilles said as he blocked another punch. "That's it for today!"
The demigod in question just wiped the sweat on his forehead with his hand. He was a handsome-looking boy for a fourteen-year-old who had been raised up in the underworld.
"What can I say, Achilles," Percy said as he took a deep breath. "The greatest warrior in the world is training me. Why should I not improve?"
Achilles being too oblivious to notice the sarcasm just smiled and disappeared with a "Thanks!"
Percy's sleek jawline glistened in sweat that dripped from the tips of his black hair. The only thing he was wearing was a pair of black baggy pants with black combat boots. His eyes glowed in the dark, one green and one black as he smiled.
He opened a bottle of water and poured it all over himself, instantly feeling refreshed, thinking about what to eat for dinner.
He walked out of the fighting ring and clapped his hands. A skeleton appeared with a plate and a sandwich on it and another appeared with a black jacket.
Percy grabbed the dish and thanked the boney structure as he continued walking forward putting on his top, and munching on the yummy bread as he sat down next down to Mrs. O'Leary who sniffed the air and looked at the demigod with pleading eyes.
Although she was just four years old, she was as big as a house and Percy loved her.
"You want it too?" He asked her and she barked happily.
"Fine! Here you go!" Percy gave her his sandwich and rested his back on the hellhound's soft, black fur.
He sighed as he thought about his life. He was the adopted son of Hades, the God of the Dead, and also the son of Poseidon, the god of the Seas which easily placed a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders and a lot of monsters behind him.
Of course, he wasn't angry at Poseidon but he also didn't think of the Sea God as his father. Just another god. He knew that one day he would have to talk to him but that day wasn't going to be coming anytime soon.
He cracked a smile as he remembered the nervousness that had filled Hades up when Persephone had come to the underworld during the springs.
He was literally more eager to go to Olympus and have a nice little chit-chat with his brothers than talk to Demeter and her daughter.
But when the day finally came, he told them everything and, surprisingly, they took the information pretty well. Both were women and their maternal instincts kicked in upon seeing the child. Since then Percy had two women fussing around him and showering him with flowers and grains.
He never really felt the lack of anything. Be it food, company, money, love, or affection. He got everything from his adoptive family. He even had friends. The only thing he kind of missed was the outside world and even that Hades had tried to recreate underground.
He was broken out of his thoughts when he heard a deep voice from behind him.
"Percy, I need you to do something for me," Hades said.
"Anything," Percy said and turned around to address him.
"I need you to rescue your siblings," Hades said as he looked at the shocked expression on his child's face. "I need you to go up."
A/N:- So, this is the first chapter of the rewrite! I don't know how better or how worse it is but at least it's a start! Do let me know how you liked it! Also…. Updates will be slow… and I'm an idiot… I had a week of holidays and I spent that entire time just thinking about this idea… so I started writing when my university opened again. So… again… updates will be restricted to weekends at max and even that would be pretty scarce… so bear with me… I have thought about great things that are going to happen next… so just wait and watch! Or wait and read… whatever… Bye! Have a nice day!
