PROLOGUE:

In the heart of the Demon World, a realm filled with vengeful creatures and cruel living conditions, Usagi, a gentle bunny demon, was being pursued by a group of demons with malevolent intentions. Her soft, furry ears twitched with fear as she darted through the twisted, nightmarish landscape. She did not want to live in a world that thought so low of her anymore.

"I can't wait to get my hands on that girl!"

" Come on! Little bunny! We just wanna play"

"Don't you wanna play with us? I can show you a fun time~ "

Cringing at the sound of their voices and disgusting words, the brown-haired bunny kept running not caring about any of the scrapes and bruises that were forming on her from tripping multiple times. Tears falling down blurring her vision, ' Just keep running Usagi!'

Usagi knew from the moment she had been born that she was different from her litter of siblings. She did not like the idea of fighting or killing anyone even if its to survive. Traits that were valued among demons in their world. Due to its cruel nature and need to survive. Her gentle-stature made her the most picked-on in the litter and in her community. Her older brothers continuously verbally abused her, which would lead to physical violence at times. Her sisters took her kindness for granted and were delighted to humiliate her whenever. Usagi's Mother just was disgusted by her youngest's pacifistic lifestyle seeing no value in her.

Not only was the bunny an anomaly among her village, but also among any fellow demon. Her kindness and compassion were traits that made her an outcast in the realm. Thankfully, she had her kind father, a bunny demon who protected her from the rest of his children. He loved them all but was greatly disappointed in their cruelty. Sadly, they were more like their mother, cruel and evil. Her father had only settled with the woman due to an arranged marriage by his family, hoping their kids would turn out like him—strong, gentle, and smart.

Luckily, at least one did. Usagi was the only one in the litter with light brown hair just like her father. She also had his brown left eye and right blue eye inherited from her grandmother. Making her even more different among her white-haired siblings, but Usagi was happy to look different. She was also happy to look like her idol, her caring father.

Her father believed Usagi was like him also in nature—gentle and smart. When her father passed away, someone who had always protected her, the family decided to work up a plan to get her kicked out of their bunny village. Which worked, as everyone believed her to be an evil witch demon that could curse anyone. Usagi did not understand how the rumors spread, but now she found herself being hunted because of the false accusations. Many wanted to obtain her as an asset on their team, but like said, Usagi was not up to put anyone in harms way.

Feeling her legs growing tired and wanting to give out, Usagi finds herself running numbly and shouting to herself, ' Run! Run faster!'

She scampered through the dark, cavernous tunnels, her curly-brown hair practically hiding in the dimly lit passages. The demons behind her were relentless, driven by a sinister desire to capture and harm her. She had been running for days and with barely anything to eat, the demoness was very tired and running out of energy.

Desperation fueled her every step as she noticed a mysterious light shimmering with an eerie, a greenish light. With a final burst of energy, she did not think anything through and just ended up leaping through the light, unknowingly leaving the Demon World behind. As Usagi tumbled through the portal, a sense of disorientation and dizziness overcame her. When she finally landed, it was on soft earth instead of the cold, unforgiving stone of the Demon World. Gasping for breath, she realized she had somehow found herself in somewhere else.

Nothing like the world she had been in before.

The transition was abrupt, and the forest surrounding her seemed otherworldly in its beauty. Tall trees, their leaves ablaze with the colors of autumn, reached toward the sky. Birds sang melodious songs, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of nature. Usagi, bewildered by the sudden change, stayed hidden in the dense underbrush. She had no idea how she had ended up in the Human World or how to return to the Demon World. But it didn't matter for now. Looking back in fear that whatever portal she had gone through might still be open, she noticed it was closed. Usagi let out a sigh of relief. She was free from her pursuers, at least for the moment.

She could relax and breathe for even a second, it was enough.

As a few months passed, Usagi learned to adapt to her new environment and her isolation. Her connection to the Demon World was fading, but she found solace in the beauty and tranquility of the forest. The human world was filled with mysteries, and Usagi was determined to find her place in it, even if it meant living in the shadows, forever hiding her true nature.

In the depths of the forest, little did Usagi know that these woods belonged to an old lady named Genkai. Genkai, a wise but stern woman, had long held a deep connection to the supernatural. When she discovered Usagi living in her lands, she did not appreciate a demon hiding in her territory, but watched silently as the young demoness made a den for herself. Genkai noticed her gentle nature and her propensity to care for the plants around her. Hence, Genkai saw her as not a threat, but with one more final test. Genkai runs quickly towards the female and planned out a surprise attack.

Usagi was serenely tending to the flowers she had planted a month ago when she sensed a presence approaching her at high speed. Startled, she panicked and leaped away in fear, accidentally kicking her approaching visitor. Her initial fright swiftly transformed into shock as she noticed the old lady clutching her stomach a few feet away from her

"I...I AM SO SORRY!!!" The bunny girl trembled in guilt after kicking an old human, her thoughts running wild. She feared she had seriously injured the old lady.

Usagi's thoughts were cut off by another attack from the old lady, taking her by surprise. The curly-haired girl jumped away, not wanting to hurt the mysterious lady. Genkai stopped and stared at the demoness.

'Oh? She seems to be okay,' Usagi said to herself while having a staring contest with the old woman. "Hey granny, are you okay?" she asked softly, taking the other female by surprise.

"Hmm... Yes. I am fine. That's a strong kick you have," the pink-haired woman said, watching the demoness carefully, just in case her softness was an act.

"Oh. Yeah, sorry about that. You scared me," Usagi apologized, the softness in her eyes holding guilt from hurting the old lady. Genkai softened a bit. Something about the female in front of her made Genkai relax faster than ever. There was this calming, pure aura around her that made the old lady want to trust her.

"That was my fault," the pink-haired elder admitted, making Usagi smile softly.

"Who are you?" the demon asked, making the elder snort and stare at her. Her gaze made Usagi tremble.

'How can an old lady like her survive that kick?' she wondered.

"More like who are you?" Genkai asked, raising a brow. "You have been in my forest for a few months, I've seen you."

"Oh! I am so sorry! I did not know this was someone's forest already. I can leave if you'd like-"

"There's no need. Come, girl," Genkai gave in and sighed, not wanting to give the pure female anything to panic about. "Join me."

And from that day on, Genkai had a companion in her temple. Which she found pleasant, something she would never admit. As time passed, Usagi and Genkai's bond grew stronger, as they discovered that they had much to learn from one another, transcending their differences in age and origin. The forest that had once been a place of solitude for Usagi had transformed into a sanctuary where she found not only safety but also a sense of belonging.

Note; Just a short prologue for you to understand a bit about the main character.
