Unknown Actor F - Gatherers Under Night
5/9/2025 Edelfelt Residence, Kyoto, Japan Morning - Clear Sky
It was morning here in the fine capital city of Kyoto. Here, at the European building where someone currently lives, which appears to be a manor. Inside the humble abode is where the TV was left on as it was showing the news regarding what has happened. The event that destroyed Tokyo 80 years ago. Yet, it was all mysterious as the cause of the destruction was unknown. People on the internet or on the streets would've assumed it was a massive explosion. Or rather the aftermath of World War II involving the Allies. And some people assumed that it was their own Japanese people who did this upon themselves during the war. Yet, it was still a mystery. But the news on the TV plays…
TV Newsanchor: "Today is May 9, 2020. And here is yesterday's recap regarding the 80th anniversary of the Imperial Capital Tokyo's destruction that killed over 200,000 people during the height of World War II. People have gathered the mourn the losses of the people and the suffering they've endured. But at the worst time possible during the anniversary, a 9.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Tohoku region that brought forth tsunami, causing destruction in its wake. Over 20,000 people were killed in this traumatic event as of yesterday. Yet, repairs to fix towns and cities in the region are costly but slow progress has yet to be made. We'll update you later after this. In other news-"
Somewhere in the elegant but small European living room away from the main room, a young blonde woman was seen drinking her tea as the sunlight shines from the window. She was rather alone in this home as she placed her cup of tea on a small plate after drinking it. Though, she is indeed listening to the news as the sounds from the TV do reach her ears. She didn't care as long as she lived her daily life as things should be.
"Ahh, Mistress Edelfelt. I assume you're much earlier on your morning routine?" The voice of an old but refined man as he had white hair, stache, and a monocle. But his eyes seemed closed for a reason as he wore a fancy butler suit as he stood there to look after her.
"I'm early as always, August." The young woman said to her butler. Her name was Luviagelita Edelfelt, the current heir of her own family and most notable for her highest reputation within the Clock Tower.
Though, remained calm but serious as her reasons for coming to Kyoto are unknown. But she wore her white cloth gloves that reached to her arms as if she was hiding something behind her hands under that glove.
"If I may, Mistress Edelfelt. Regarding the updates that involved this… Third Imperial Holy Grail War you have spoken about-" August was interrupted as she spoke.
"I'm clearly aware of it…" Luvia continued with a sigh. "The Grail itself has selected me to participate. Besides, I already know that I have the Command Seal as proof. Do you have the catalyst prepared for me?"
"Indeed I do. Locked safely in the small box just for you. However, the Church's Overseer has asked any possible participants to begin their first summoning at exactly 12:00 AM to be precise. But Mistress, if I may ask from my personal opinions. I recommend going outside for some delightful fresh air. Perhaps we can go to one of the fancy tea houses here in this fine capital of Kyoto." August had suggested to her some idea that would get her to move but she responded with a sigh, knowing how pushy her butler is since he is merely worried for her health.
"As if you assume that staying within my home is a bad thing. However, I'll let this slide. Perhaps I'm interested in trying out these finest teas in Japan. Despite their troubles regarding those awful tsunamis and tremors in the upper north. Sebas, please prepare the car for me and head our way to this… tea house you've mentioned." Luvia said to her butler as she finished drinking the cup of tea from home as she got up from her chair and looked at him as he bowed at her.
"At once, my lady." August replied as he lifted his body up from bowing, turned around and made his leave to prepare a vehicle for her.
As soon as Luvia turned off the TV headed outside of her manor where the old-looking but fancy car from the 1940s. A navy blue metallic 1943 Toyota AC parked near the one-sided road where Sebas was waiting for him as he opened the back door just for Luvia.
"Get in, Mistress Edelfelt. Our destination to the teahouse awaits." August said in a kind tone the latter seemed a little concerned as she stepped inside the old vehicle as she sat on the seat while her butler closed the door and got in the driver's seat.
"August… Are you sure this vehicle still works? Or rather you had to convince some owner of this car with that little persuasion of yours, no?" Luvia asked him.
"Certainly not, Mistress Edelfelt." August continued. "While yes, a car like this is already forgotten and later put in a museum. But not to worry. I have bought this vehicle with your full permission from an owner who once owns this one, in fact. Of course, I had to teach him the old fashion way.."
"I swear… your charisma of persuasion knows no bounds… So, how much did you pay the previous owner?" Luvia asked.
"I didn't pay him. I simply threatened him with words to induce fear, that is. Of course, he owns this car at the local automobile museum there but powerful words always require a smart play." August replied as Luvia simply sighed and placed her hand on her side of the head.
"Honestly, you didn't have to secure me a vehicle but this will do for now… August, proceed." Luvia said to her butler as he nodded.
"As you say, Mistress Edelfelt." Sebas then turns on the engine of the vehicle. And thus, he proceeded to drive down the one-sided road within the tight residential area.
Luvia looked outside of the window to see the view in the capital of Kyoto. Knowing her history of what happened to Tokyo 80 years ago. She couldn't fathom why the Japanese would do this to themselves at the unfortunate destruction that claimed over the lives of over 200,000 people. Indeed, in her mind. That tragedy was truly catastrophic. However, she has already made her decision; to participate in the Holy Grail War for the sake of her own family lineage.
Kitano Residence, Apartments, Kyoto, Japan Morning - Clear Sky
Meanwhile at the four-story apartment here. The fourth floor where a normal young adult with black hair and white t-shirt and shorts was seen having his body slumped on the short heighted table with the TV on as it was showing some sort of a talk show between the hosts and celebrities. However, he had a rough morning where on the table next to his arm was the paper application for the Kyoto University where his name was written on the paper. And his name is Tatsumi Kitano, who graduated high school a few days ago right before the tsunami incident in the Tohoku region happened yesterday during the midst of the 80th anniversary of the Tokyo incident that ended up becoming a gulf. But ever since his graduation, his life has become mundane. Most graduated people would start finding jobs right away in order to make some money. That's the way the world of jobs works. Yet, its downsides can be nasty as people would force themselves to work in such a terrible work environment, meeting deadlines, and sometimes being bossed around by shady bosses is downright criminal. People would go home from work after a day's job with a low self-esteem, they would indeed make their lives more shittier under the rock. But there are some but most people who would continue to study more at their parent's behest or for themselves. Tatsumi is that very example. Yet, his application seemed incomplete due to his laziness. However, his smartphone would vibrate and play a ringtone that came from an anime. He starts to slowly wake up from the noise of his phone the moment he yawns for a few seconds and up. And he looked at the phone to see who's calling him… it was none other than his mother by the name of the contact.
"Why now…?" Tatsumi said within his mind as he accepted the call and put his phone next to his ear to listen… "Hey, Oka-san…"
"Good morning, Tatsumi-kun. Or rather… It's night time here in America." His mother said on the phone. "How's your progress on your university application?"
"…Working on it, Oka-san. The morning wake up got the best of me. Been having nightmares without end that ruined my sleep schedule entirely…" Tatsumi said as he lightly rubbed his eyes in order to get a clear vision.
"Awww! That must have been rough, huh, Tatusmi-kun. I hope you're doing okay alone while we're living overseas at the moment in Florida. Your father has been living a life as a marine biologist on the seas. Of course, he's always busy at times so I'm the only person having to take care of this home as much as you do." His mother replied as he bent his back backward to stretch as he groaned lightly to not make such a noise he heard a bone crack from his spine yet harmless.
"I can see that… So, you're just here to check up on me, Oka-san? Like, is that all?" Tatsumi asked her.
"Of course, a mother needs to look after their only son such as you. But, I'm sure you're aware of what happened regarding the tsunamis hitting the Tohoku region after that really dangerous earthquake during the midst of the anniversary in Tokyo. If you were there in that region, something bad might happen. But since you're in Kyoto. I'm glad you're alright. Are you hurt?" Tatsumi's mother said in a worrying tone.
"No, Oka-san… I'm fine. Again, I need to be busy with the application. Once that's done, I'll have to take the entrance exam in hopes that I'll be accepted." Tatsumi said of his plans as his mother would approve of his goals.
"Then make us proud. We don't have time but it was nice talking to you again, hearing your voice once more. Now then. Please take care of yourself. Bye bye!~" His mother would end the call. After it ended, he turned off his phone and put it on the table. He lays on the floor again to stare at the ceiling while the television plays.
"What did I do to deserve this…" Tatsumi said to himself as if he was contemplating for some reason. Yet, his life is indeed dull. A dull, normal life. As all people should live. Unaware of him while he went back to sleep for some needed rest. A Command Seal had appeared as it seared on his back left hand. Thus, he was chosen for what's next.
Tsujikura Clan Temple, Kyoto, Japan Afternoon - Cloudy
Meanwhile, at then temple that is heavily guarded by men in black suits as they were guarding the main gate and the zen garden-like courtyard. Inside the temple is one particular room where a young but older man with some muscles as he was shirtless to show off his abs on his stomach. But on his back was a large tattoo that depicts a red horned oni wielding a large club and flames around it. But the room consisted of all sorts of interesting stuff such as katanas, paintings, and other stuff that are somewhat feudal. However, the man who sat on his own fancy single couch as he was looking at a strange blonde man with a velvet red suit who had presented him with an object of what appears to be a broken blade piece though, it was rather special for some reason as the man looked at it. The tattooed man took off his shades and lowered it.
"So… what's so special about this shiny piece of a broken piece of shit, Mr. G…" The man asked him in such a threatening-like tone.
"You wounded me, Yutaka Kuze. That piece of a broken blade is a catalyst." Mr. G said to him as he wasn't convinced.
"Go on…" Yutaka asked.
"You see, since you've taken up my offer and interest to take part in this Holy Grail War. I had to make sure that no one from the Clock Tower followed me on my way here. I had to keep my presence concealed ever since the Grail was found here in Kyoto after 80 years since Tokyo's destruction. It was indeed a tragedy, don't you think?" Mr. G said to him as he couldn't care about it otherwise.
"Hmph. I couldn't give a shit about the history or two. None of that interests me. All I want is a deal. I hate wasting time. You said you wanted me to provide this… catalyst you mentioned for this war. I'll take it from you. But you need to teach me how to summon these… dead ghosts from history. Is that right?" Yutaka said to him with a scowling look on his face.
"Heroic Spirits." Mr. G corrected. "They're called Heroic Spirits, Mr. Yutaka. Calling them 'dead ghosts' is nothing more than an offensive term of a lesser being. These spirits are kept within the Throne of Heroes based on their great deeds of their past through every history, every mythology, and every legend they bear. Of course, I've also provided you with the notes on the summoning incantations that I gave you. Think you'll remember it? After all, we've accepted the deal."
"I already got the gist of it. Now the deal's accepted between you and I…" Yutaka then snaps his left finger as the sound of snapping was heard. The yakuza goons within the room had already prepared to move as they held his arms and the other drew a tanto blade near his throat upon surprise.
"W-What is the meaning of this!? We had a deal!" Mr. G growled with a look on his face. But Yutaka sat there and glared at him.
"We did. But that doesn't mean we're allies. In this criminal underworld, it's kill or be killed. And one of us gets to live. But I'm afraid that you served your purpose, Mr. G. The name you bear is all too suspicious. The world doesn't need you anymore." Yutaka continued. "Do it."
"Damn you… You have no idea of what you're doing-" Just as Mr. G was about to talk more…
[SLIT! PSSSSH!]
The goon slit opened his throat as blood started spewing, effectively killing him as the body fell face first on the floor. Yutaka remained unamused.
"Boss. Now that he's dead… What are we gonna do with his body?" One of his men spoke to him.
"Dump him elsewhere so no one in the public can find out. As for me, I've got some plans ahead before midnight. This Holy Grail he speaks of…" Yutaka said as he looked at his Command Seal on right back hand which the symbol appears to be a face oni mask yet different. "I shall claim it in the name of the Alliance…"
The boss of his own Yakuza group, chosen by the Holy Grail, as to be expected of.
Luofu-cho, Kyoto, Japan Afternoon - Cloudy
Meanwhile, at one of Kyoto's own Chinatown in a place called Luofu-cho where its buildings are more oriental at times. But somewhere within the chinese restaurant that has been closed for a long time since the establishment lost it's fame. Sounds of grunting and punching came from inside the oriental building. Inside the restaurant where a black haired man with his hair slicked all the way back as he wore his black suit with outlines of a chinese dragon all over as he was seen beating a man senseless. He was not Japanese but he was indeed a foreigner but his face was bruised.
"[Don't make me repeat this again, mage. Where is your catalyst.]" The man spoke in his native language of chinese. Of course, the man wouldn't know what he was talking about.
"T-The hell you're talking about…" The magus asked him even though he was speaking in Japanese. "I don't even speak your language… Can you even speak Japanese- OOF!"
"[Don't change the subject! Where is your catalyst!?]" The chinese man threatened.
"Can you speak Japanese already? I'll answer your question if you speak it! Fucks sake!" The european magus said to him as the latter, the one who was interrogating him had no choice but to accept.
"Must I speak this language in this country?" The Chinese man spoke in Japanese to make it 'easier' somehow. "Regardless. I will repeat this again in Japanese… Where is your catalyst…"
"The catalyst, huh? You must be after me the moment you've kidnapped me and tortured me for my information. Man… you Chinese mafias have no bravado at all-" The magus was interrupted.
"WHERE IS IT!?" The Chinese man demanded as his patience was being tested on him.
"Alright, alright! Look, I know you're here because you know of the information of the Holy Grail War, right? But since you're looking for my catalyst. It's here in the building. But I'm not gonna tell you where it's at." The european magus said as he spits on his face. He was unamused. That is until a brown haired young woman who walked up to him as she held the small box as the european magus took notice. "T-The hell!? Already!?"
"[Tang. I've found the box containing the catalyst. This man here had hid it poorly to deceive our brains.]" The young woman said to the man.
"[Good job, Luong.]" The Chinese man named Tang said as he switched back to Japanese. "It seems our interrogation is done, magus."
Tang stood back as the magus got up with his body lifted from the table. The European man would brush off his suit and look at him.
"So you found it? Good for you. Because you stole it from me, doesn't make you a qualified magus. You don't even have a Command… Seal…?" The european magus said upon his realization he noticed where Tang has a Command Seal already on his right back hand and isn't afraid to show it. "W-What the hell…"
"And there you have it. However, you think that I'd let you go and leave in shame. I believe that you were in my way to begin with. Farewell." Tang said as he readied his martial arts stance as his arms flowed like water.
"W-WAIT-" The magus tried to speak out of it but…
[GRAB! CRUNCH! RIIIIIIIIIP! SPLURT!]
Tang's right hand grabbed the magus' neck tightly as his fingers rips through his flesh until he forcefully rips it out as he now holds the broken neck spine along with the bloodied chunk of flesh. He drops it and proceeds to swing his right hand again like a blade as the magus was gurgling in pain…
[SLICE! PSSSSSSSH!]
And so, he was decapitated as his head and body fell on the table as a result. Tang then sighed and looked at his right-hand woman.
"[Luong.]" Tang said her name.
"[As you command.]" Luong said as she proceeds to open a small box, containing the catalyst that he's familiar with. He had a grin on his face the moment he looked at it.
"[It's perfect.]" Tang said with satisfaction as his plan would finally put his plans in motion.
Enryaku-ji Temple, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky
Meanwhile where the afternoon has passed into the night where the moonlight is out. It was indeed the full moon with no clouds blocking at all. But here in this mountain area within the shrine of a closed tourist hotspot called Enryaku-ji Temple was this night. A young girl with silver twin-tailed hair and a strange modern uniform that is sleek with colors of white and cyan. She was seen having her weapon case on her back as she was leaning on the red torii gate where she had a phone to her ear where she was in a talk with someone unknown but seemed to be following orders. However, she has her Command Seal on her left back hand, resulting in her being chosen. But there are reasons why.
"Do you understand the mission you're partaking in? Even though the chances for you to survive are rather slim." The caller asked her.
"I'm aware, Director Westley. I know what I'm doing just as you informed me." The girl replied to the caller.
"Good. Then I don't need to repeat myself twice." Director Westley continued. "It'll soon be 12 AM in Kyoto. Do what needs to be done in this Holy Grail War. Make sure you win and secure the grail in the name of Atlas Industries."
"Understood, Director." The girl replied.
"Do not fail me, Gabri Lotaryńska." Director Westley said as the call ended. She puts her phone away as she grabs the box to reveal a catalyst inside.
And so, she would begin right away as she used the chalk to draw the ritual circle to summon Heroic Spirits and later put the catalyst in the middle.
"Alright… It begins…" Gabri said as she lends her hand out to reveal her Command Seal. And so, she was ready…
The Summoning Midnight - Clear Sky
And so back at the manor where Edelfelt resides but underground is a large stone covered basement where the ritual circle was already made and the catalyst was placed on the pedestal where Luvia and her butler August were there after their visit to the tea house in the morning along with some other detours. But now, they're back here.
"Mistress Luvia… The clock finally strikes. It's time." Her butler informed her.
"I'm well aware of that…" Luvia said as she stood with her hand out to show her Command Seal. And so, the summoning begins… "Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill."
"Let it be turned over five times, simply breaking asunder the fulfilled time." Luvia continued with her incantation of her summoning as the circle glows as it responds to her. "Let silver and steel be the essence."
But each summoning shows the candidates would summon in their own respective places as it continues.
"Let stone and archduke of contracts be the foundation." Yutaka chanted as he held his hand at the ritual.
"Let my great master Eini be the ancestor." Luvia chanted. Then it shows Gabri at the temple where she was doing the same thing.
"Raise the wall that shall fall. Close the four cardinal gates. Come out from the crown." Gabri chanted where Tang was in the same location as before as he was also summoning a Heroic Spirit.
"Rotate the three-bench roads reaching the Kingdom. I shall declare here." Tang chanted.
"Your body shall serve under me. My fate shall be your sword. Submit to the beckoning to the Holy Grail." Luvia continued to chant as she felt the winds surging around her as she maintained her focus.
"If you submit to this will and thy reason… then answer my call!" Yutaka chanted as he kept still from the raging winds.
"An oath shall be sworn here! I shall obtain all virtues of Heaven. I shall have dominion over all evil of Hell." Gabri said as she stood still and resisted the winds as she kept her focus.
"From the Seventh Heaven, attended to by three great words of power, come forth from the rings of restraint, O' Protector of the Balance!" Luvia finishes her chant as the circle glows brighter as she covers her eyes from the brightness.
And so, the participants have managed to summon their respective Heroic Spirits as the light dies down. They all looked at them for the very first time. Starting with Luvia. Where her eyes meet with a mysterious figure of a man. He wore a white fedora and a white buttoned up uniform, white gloves, a katana sheathed and a revolver holstered on the side of his left hip. And there was that young woman floating next to him.
"W-Well done, Mistress Edelfelt! You've done it!" August praised her as she looked at her first Servant.
Meanwhile for Yutaka… After the light finishes and smoke billows, there stood a man with red hair tied back into a short ponytail on the top as he wore traditional large feudal armor and a spear on his hand.
"B-Boss… Y-You did it! You actually did it! W-We're gonna win!" The goon said with praise as Yutaka looked at his Servant as their eyes met.
"Damn right. We've finally secured our victory." Yutaka said with a smirk on his face.
For Tang, the smoke billows away where he would meet his own Servant where it appears to be a woman with white hair along with the cone black hat as she wore black armor and wielded two black blades. Her mouth is concealed as well. This puts a smirk on his face.
And as for Gabri, the smoke billows away where she finally meets her Servant. A young man holding a red great bow, black hair, slightly tanned skin, yellow torn cape flowing by the wind, and a greenish-tunic with his revealing skin muscle as he stood there where his eyes met Gabri. And so, back at Luvia where she meets her Servant for the first time.
"Servant Rider. At your service. But I may ask, young mistress… Are you my Master?" The Servant Rider who had revealed his True Name asked Luvia. And she responded.
"That is correct. I am your Master. My name is Luviagelita Edelfelt, the current heir of the noble Edelfelt family. With you on my side, we can finally win and claim the Grail for my family." Luvia announced as Rider would simply nodded in response.
"Then the contract is sealed. And just so you know, Master. I do require an office if you have one. Oh yes, I nearly neglected her for a moment." Rider noticed as she would introduce herself.
"Oryou is Oryou, young girl. I am this guy's assistant. If you do well enough, Oryou might be keen on giving you a frog." The black haired woman floating neat to him named Oryou introduced herself.
"Y-Young girl!? H-How rude! But… To think I summoned two instead of one… Perhaps it might be considered cheating? No… such trivial nonsense does not matter to me. Ahem! Rider." Luvia continued. "I will provide you an 'office' you speak of as there are spare rooms for you to use. Will that suffice?"
"Gladly. You are indeed a woman of your word, Master. Come now, Oryou. Let's get it started." Rider said as he would leave on his own to set up his new room provided by Luvia as the floating woman followed.
"Right. Oryou's coming with you. Yet, I wanted to eat a human." Oryou replied as she followed him out of the basement.
"No, no. Please don't." The sound of Rider said as the two would leave the basement anyways. Luvia seemingly sighed.
"Seems I have a lot to get my bearings for… August, let us call it a day. I need to rest. I'll pay a visit to the priest tomorrow morning." Luvia said.
"Are you sure? People would usually visit the church during the day." August asked.
"Nonsense." Luvia continued. "The church is always closed to throw people off with the 'renovation' sign there. I must hand it to the priest for playing it smart. And of course… see what Rider is up to along with that… Oryou."
And so, Luvia and August would leave the basement after she had completed her summonings. And meanwhile at Tatsumi's room where the summoning seemingly happened inside his room the moment he was relaxing.
"W-WHOA! W-Who are you!? How did you get in here!?" The voice of Tatsumi shouted in panic the moment he saw the smoke billowing where it was a woman with long magenta hair, red eyes, black tight suit, and two red spears on each hand.
"Calm yourself, Master. I will not harm you. Regardless, you summoned me in this dingy room." The Lance-wielding Servant continued. "The contract is sealed. I, Lancer, shall do my utmost best to win the Grail."
However, Lancer noticed where Tatsumi would proceed to pass out after encountering such a beautiful Servant in the process.
"Why have I paired with this unfortunate Master…" Lancer would talk to herself in disappointment after seeing him passing out like this.
Meanwhile… a blonde haired girl with blue eyes as she wore her high school uniform as she wore a black sailor-like school uniform with black skirt as she was pushed onto the floor within the empty lot in the city in the Shimogyo Ward hidden within the alleyways as one street lamp shined where the young girl fell.
"Tch… damn you Asano…! Damn you!" The voice of a young man who has black wavy hair and brown eyes as he wore a high school uniform as both of them are from the same school. He was furious the moment he saw Asano's Command Seal was on the side of her left neck instead of the back hands for some reason but perhaps these Seals are special.
"I-I'm sorry Ryuji-san… I'm sorry…!" Asano pleaded for her life until she was repeatedly kicked in the stomach over and over again.
"Sorry isn't enough!" Ryuji continued. "If you hadn't stood in my way during the summoning… I would have obtained the Seals on my own! And you stole it from me! Damn you! It pisses me off and I hate you so much! I wish you were never born in this goddamn world!"
"P-Please… Help me… I… I don't want to die!" Asano pleaded for her life as she was being beaten senselessly until…
"That's enough! Leave the girl alone." The voice of a woman spoke as it caught his attention.
"W-Who's there!?" Ryuji shouted to find the voice until he felt a strange presence the moment he turned around.
It was a maiden… A maiden with blonde hair whose length reaches down to her leg thighs but it was wrapped in a single braid. She wore battle armor, gauntlets, and dark purple clothing. She had amethyst-colored eyes as if they were completely pure. But she was wielding a large pole with a spear up on top with a flag wrapped around it. Much to Ryuji's surprise, she walked past him as the latter would look at her to see the blonde woman helping tend to her injuries for some reason.
"Are you alright, my Master?" The blonde woman asked Asano to shed her injuries. "This is truly sad… To think you were beaten down relentlessly…"
"H-Hey! Why the hell did you call her Master!?" Ryuji continued. "Back off from her! She took those Command Seals from me… she was selected instead of me! Are you even listening!?"
Ryuji was ignored as the blonde spear-wielding woman spoke to the innocent Asano the moment she looked at her Command Seal on her head.
"I see… You must be special the moment you summoned me on a whim. Very well… The contract has been sealed under a special ruling." The blonde woman is revealed to be a Servant at the moment. This caused Ryuji to finally lose it the moment he brought out a pistol which was revealed to be the Staccato 2011. The modernized version of the M1911. His hands were shaking as he was holding it with one hand with his eye aimed directly at Asano. "Please lower your gun. My Master does not bring harm to you."
"B-Bullshit! There's no way to call her Master! These Command Seals are mine… MINE! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU RIGHT NOW! BOTH OF YOU! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU IF I HAVE-" The moment Ryuji had snapped and lashed out as he was about to pull the trigger… He felt the Servant's animosity the moment she glared to his eyes… And his eyes would widen in fear. Then after that… he decided to make an escape and run away in fear. And just as that… he was gone.
The Servant would turn back at Asano as she would proceed to lift her finger to wipe her tears as the young girl was about to cry.
"Are you unharmed?" The Servant asked her.
"Y-Yes… But w-who… Who are you… Why did you save me?" Asano asked her as she was sobbing.
"Because it is my duty to protect you from harm. Though, it rather a surprise to me that Extra Class Servants like me are meant to be summoned without a Master. But to think you're the one capable of earning the Grail's trust, this is really a fortunate blessing. Now, before we continue… I'd like to know your name." The blonde Servant asked her as she was willing to do so.
"Asano… Asano Kaname…" Asano introduced herself much to the Servant's surprise for a few seconds. But nodded to accept it.
"A beautiful name." The Servant continued. "Very well, Asano Kaname. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Servant Ruler, Jeanne d'Arc. And together. We shall preserve and oversee the Imperial Holy Grail War! And may god's blessings be with us, Master!"
Asano lifted her body up the moment she saw Ruler the moment she was chosen. To become the first Master of Ruler. To help Jeanne oversee the Holy Grail War. This is truly fate. And fate itself… is indeed a fickle thing.
And thus, the night of the summoning ends. And the seventh has yet to be summoned…
5/10/2020 Heida Residence, Kyoto, Japan Morning - Clear Sky
First Person POV
I was sound asleep. The birds were chirping outside where I tried to keep myself asleep. Damn it… stupid birds. I proceeded to slowly open my eyes where I found myself waking up here. Right… here in this decent bedroom… Nothing special going on but it's decent, after all. I yawned in order to wake up from this usual morning and looked around. Feels quiet here… And it'll still be the same with years to come, I guess. I got off from my bed and proceeded to leave my room as I slid my door open and closed it the sooner I left. So, I headed downstairs where the main hallway is. So I turned to the left to head to where the main living room is. No couches or anything. Just a tatami mat, table, and a single flatscreen TV. And next to the main living room is the kitchen. And I saw two of them there. But one of them noticed that I woke up the moment we made eye contact.
"Ahh! Good morning, brother. Did you sleep well?" The voice of a young girl spoke to me.
"A bit. Aside from the birds making so much noise…" I replied.
The young girl has purple hair, purple eyes and wears a light pink flower shaped-ornament in her hair, which matches the flowers on her sleeves. She wore a traditional Japanese outfit. It has yellow flower-patterned sleeves, a green vest, and a shortened hakama skirt separated by a red, white laced obi. Her name is Akyuu Hieda. She's my younger sister. Usually kind, easy going and even receptive at times.
But as for me… I should introduce myself. My name is Yusei Hieda. 18 years old, 2 years older than Akyuu. Brown hair, brown eyes. Wore a decent street clothing since I've been living a normal life here… yet, it feels different. I am wearing a white t-shirt and pants since today's nothing special here. So yeah, my sister giggled at me.
"Silly brother. Perhaps you haven't slept enough at night." Akyuu was teasing me, of course.
"No need to tease me. I'm still fine so it's not worrying me at all. Anyways, who's making breakfast today?" I asked her as she would point to a maid who was seen cooking.
"Ahh, Shizuru-san is cooking breakfast for us right now. So give her time to finish, brother." Akyuu replied as I looked at the maid.
Right, the maid. Her name is Shizuru Hanamura. She has blackish-brown short hair, dark blue eyes, a stern face, and wore a literal maid outfit. Shizuru-san has been in service with the Hieda family for years now ever since we were kids. But it has been three days since our parents were killed in the most tragic disaster that happened in the Tohoku region. The tsunami took their lives and we were struck by these horrific events. Akyuu has been trying to do her best to live her life and move on. And I do too. But ever since then, I took up the role to be the leader of this family. And the truth is… we're both mages. Or magus in other terms. Both of us, we've been pursuing the path of the magus for our longest lives. Our parents told us to never stop and keep following the path. And so, we continued pressing on ever since our parents were killed. The Hieda family isn't too popular in the world of magecraft. Save it for the most notable ones like the Tohsakas, Aozakis, Animuspheres, or even the Edelfelt family. But regardless, we still continue to pursue magecraft. And hopefully one day, we can join the Clock Tower to study there and learn something new. But that's enough talking. Shizuru had arrived as she placed the breakfast on the table.
"Yusei-sama, Akyuu-sama. Your breakfast is ready." Shizuru said to us as we headed to the table as we kneeled down on our knees next to the table.
"Thank you, Shizuru-san." I thanked her as we both eat our breakfast… and the breakfast we're eating? It's just rice and an omelet with green tea on the side.
We both continue eating our food to get started. The TV isn't on but there is no need to. We've already seen the news about the Tokyo stuff that happened. Well, everything doesn't feel the same if you ask me. Tokyo became a gulf after the massive explosion that killed so many people there during World War II. And yet, the Postwar Cleanup Committee that was established in Japan who are tasked to find the remains and clean them up. Unfortunately, they just left it there. So yeah, now you know why Tokyo became a gulf after the tragedy. And the worst of all… the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami happened three days ago where my parents got involved during the midst of the Tokyo anniversary. It just left destruction in its wake as it demoralized the people of Japan. 20,000 people lost their lives, buildings were destroyed, terrain was altered, and most people left the region to move to other prefectures in the process. Now? It's left abandoned like a ghost town. I'm not sure if there are people who are willing to rebuild it and fight through this harrowing time. But all I can say is… the country had entered its dark ages in the Second Reiwa Era. Whenever I talk about tragedy. I stop. So does my eating as my mind visions those events. That is until…
"Brother?" Akyuu called me as I snapped back to reality. "Are you going to keep eating?"
"Y-Yeah. I am. Don't worry about me. I'm just lost in thought right now. Not a big deal." I reassured her with a fake smile as I continued eating.
"Yusei-sama. Akyuu-sama is worried about you. Don't tell me you're been dwelling in the past again regarding the disaster that happened in the Tohoku region, have you?" Shizuru said to me.
"No. I'm not." I said to her as I kept eating.
"Don't lie to me. Tell me the truth, Yusei-sama. I can tell by your mind. You're hurt." Shizuru pressured me as I stopped eating mid way as I put the chopstick down.
"…Yes. I'm hurt." I admitted to her as the maid sighed.
"I see… I understand the losing your parents can be one's greatest pain and weakness. It'll expose your heart. Makes you vulnerable. The more you dwell into those negative feelings. You'll lose yourself for who you are. You must understand this, Yusei-sama." Shizuru said to her with such a composed look. Yet, she's serious but worried about me.
"I suppose you're right. I know I'm that type of guy who would never let go of the past. It's not good for me, I know. But it's just… It's just unfair when mother nature takes its course. Bringing forth disasters we've never seen. But again… As you said, I'll stop dwelling on the past and focus on what's ahead. I'm not giving up on the path of becoming a magus. Me and Akyuu's goal respectively." I said to the maid with some reassurance and confidence from my heart. She smiled a bit in approval.
"Well said, Yusei-sama. However, after you finish your food. I'm afraid you're going to be late for your day shift at the fishmonger shop that you told me about." Shizuru mentioned about my part-time job as I realized the moment I stood up.
"Oh no! You're right! I am going to be late!" I said in a shock the moment I quickly took a drink of the green tea and drank all of it. However, the drink was a bit hot after I drank it entirely as it led me to cough while I covered it with my arm as I headed to the clothing rack near the door which is both an entrance and exit of our house. "GAH! HOT!"
I quickly wore my dark blue hoodie, putting on both socks and shoes in such a hurry.
"Brother? Are you heading off?" Akyuu said to me as I was in a hurry the moment I prepared myself to open the door.
"Yeah!" I continued. "I just gotta head off to work on my part-time stuff. Sorry if we can't talk more, Akyuu. But I should get going! Bye! Look after my sister, Shizuru-san!"
"That I will." Shizuru stood up and bowed at me while my sister waved at me.
"Okay! Take care!~" Akyuu then waved at me as I left with the door closed.
And so, I quickly made my way out. I noticed my bike parked outside of my house since I left it there all the time. I quickly took it and kicked up the standing brakes and rode out of my home and down on the road at such a rapid pace.
"Shit, shit, shit! I'm gonna be late! How did I not even notice my alarm clock!? Damn it, why am I so unlucky!? FASTER BIKE, FASTER!" I yelled in panic the moment I pedal down the road to build up speed in hopes to beat time. My day can't get any worse, can I!?
Mokuryu Fish Shop, Kyoto, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
[THUD!]
"Phew… all in a day's work." I said to myself as I wore an apron for work. Of course, I had to carry a box full of fish that people had given us after I put it on the table. The fishermans have been doing a good job for us so I'll give them that. Been working here since I was 16 during my time in my highschool years. My boss Ruka Tachiarai has been nice to me. She's 28 years old but is also the owner of this fishmonger shop run by own family that does fishing… a lot.
"Well done, Yusei-san. You're more reliable than you think." The voice of Ruka spoke as I looked at her. She has reddish-brown hair tied into a ponytail as she has red eyes. She also wears work clothes.
"Thanks, boss. I'm just doing my job." I said to her as I stretched my arms to feel better. "That reminds me. You never told me anything about what's going on in your shop. You mentioned relocating, right?"
"Ahh, that? Seems the cat is out of the bag. Sorry if I tried to hide it from you but… it's true." Ruka continued. "The shop is not doing so great here in Kyoto. Barely anyone but some people do come here but it's not even enough."
"Not enough?" I asked as she nodded.
"Yup. Been thinking about this decision for the longest time but… I've decided that I'm going to relocate my business to Sasebo. Ruka announced this sudden change as I was surprised.
"Are you sure this is wise? I've been working under you for two years. And you're going to leave me just like that?" I asked her about it as this type of stuff worries me.
"I understand your reason. But, there is no other choice. The Tohoku incident caused the fishes to never come to the shores here anymore. The fishermans couldn't even barely search for them. Not a single fish spotted. Though, the box you just placed… might be the last. Sorry about that." Ruka apologized for it. I can understand her reason why she is doing this but…
"I don't blame you, boss." I replied.
"You don't need to call me boss anymore, Yusei-san. Just call me Ruka and we're all good. After all, this is your last day of the job. But rest assured that you'll be paid on your final work from me yours truly." Ruka said with such a kind and calm tone until she noticed one of my hands. Particularly on the right. "Say, Yusei. What's with that bruise on the back of the right hand? Did you hurt yourself before coming here?"
Just as Ruka said that. I began to look at my back right hand where I saw this red bruise there. But something feels off… Why is this here? I never had a bruise in the first place when I took a bike ride for work. Whatever it is, it's not a big deal. So I'll have to lie.
"Ahh, just some light injury. It'll heal overtime back to normal. So don't worry about it." I said to her with some reassurance as she believed me.
"Alright, if you say so. Oh and, Yusei." Ruka continued. "Usually, you would work part-time all day long for me but… I know this is too much for me to ask of you. I was hoping you'd be willing to work overtime until sunfall."
"Overtime? May I ask why?" I asked her for this offer.
"Well, ever since I've made a decision to relocate to Sasebo. I was hoping you wanna earn some extra payout if you are willing to clean up the whole place as I plan to call in the moving truck to get it all sorted out. So, you down?" Ruka said as she lends out her hand as I accepted it as some handshake.
"Sure thing, Ruka-san. I'll get it done before sunfall. " I said to her as I got started in helping Ruka in preparations to move and at the same time, tidying up the fishmonger shop until there was nothing left. Even though I'm going to miss her. She has her own reasons for doing so.
[HOURS LATER…]
And so, it was night. Forced myself to work overtime at Ruka's store and I was given an extra payout as she promised. Of course, she had already finished moving all of the stuff and bid her goodbye to me before night happened. So she may have already begun her long trip to Sasebo. As for me, I was seen doing the final touches before I could leave this place. It's no longer a fish store. It'll be for anyone to own one to start a new business. I could own this building but with this current payout she had given me. I don't think it'll be enough nor do I have the expertise to run a store of mine. So the moment I manage to do some final touches here where I was cleaning the floor with a wet rag.
"Alright… done." I said to myself with relief. "Now that Ruka-san is gone… I might as well find another job to land on. Office work isn't for me. So… maybe something? Like a barista at a coffee shop? Oh! Maybe this Le Fleur Cafe might be the place I could go for! Sojirou-san might be willing to have me for work. I'll definitely ask him tomorrow! Man, I wonder if he'll teach me to cook curry… I can't wait!"
I was excited, sure. Le Fleur Cafe is considered one of the best cafes to go to. Not that popular but my man Sojirou is an expert when it comes to providing both coffee and curry. Then again, he's always busy with his work. But still, it wouldn't hurt to ask him next time-
[KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!]
The sound of the metal door clunking on the knock even though I have it shut so one can get it but me. Who is it this time? I'm just going to ignore it. They'll go away soon.
[KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!]
The knock happens again. I tried to ignore it but this time it was louder. So, I caved in and told someone to leave.
"The store's closed! Can you leave? I'm just doing the final pushes here on cleaning this place before I head home." I said to someone with a loud tone as my voice would try to reach the knocker. And then…
[KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!]
The same knock again but this time it was a one second delayed. It was loud again but didn't you listen to what I said. I groaned and stood up as I slowly approached the door and got its lift opened.
"I told you for the second time! The store's empty and closed!" Just as I was about to open it… I sensed something coming directly at me. "SHIT!"
[STAB!]
I fell the the ground as I took a step back to avoid it from me the moment it was targeted at my head. I was gasping for breath the moment I tried to calm down. It was a red blade that was stabbed through the metal door. The moment the blade pulls itself out…
[SLICE! SLASH! SWOOSH!]
The swift slashes sliced the metal door open as it was destroyed into pieces along with the glass as it let the air inside the moment I covered my face from the burst of wind coming in. As it stopped, I began to look at who's standing there… It was a woman wielding two red lances on each hand as her hair was flowing by the wind the moment her red eyes glared at me.
"I've finally found you, Seventh One." The woman said to me as it brought me into confusion.
"S-Seventh…?" I asked.
"To think you were hiding here in the midst of the War… But it doesn't matter. I'll end your misery here." The Lance-wielding woman said as I got up and looked at her.
She was in her stance the moment I was faced with this confrontation. There will always be some tricks up my sleeve. Which is why I'm a magus pursuing this path. I brought something out from my left pocket the moment she prepared herself to attack me. Her lance was within my range the moment I brought out three red stone-like pebbles from my hand, causing it to glow brightly the moment Lancer noticed as she tried to block herself.
[POOF!]
The pebbles I used were indeed magecraft that my family uses. I'll have to thank my parents for teaching me this. Of course, this created some light explosion as it created a smokescreen around the building where I was being attacked. I quickly made my way out of avoiding her, grabbing my bike and riding on it the moment I tried to quickly escape. There were no vehicles or people around in this quiet city but I can't afford to get caught. Otherwise bad things will happen. My home has a Bounded Field to begin with. So once I enter my domain… my presence would be concealed. But right now, I'm far from reaching my home. I just needed to escape.
[LEAP! LEAP!]
I hear the sound of leaping as someone was jumping from buildings to buildings. I quickly looked at my right on the buildings where the lance-wielding woman was already there in order to chase me down. Then, she would propel herself the moment she landed right in front me as I was going full speed. That caused me to hit the brakes as I shifted my body to my left as it tried to stop but I fell off my bike in the process, rolling on the floor. However, just as my bike skids right next to her… She used her lance and sliced my bike in half. Damn it! That was the only one I have! Yet, I was on the floor the moment I lifted my body up where she was approaching me as her lance's blade was aimed at my chest.
"Clever boy." The woman continued. "To think you would use cheap magecraft to escape… But alas, your escape is proven useless. This game of chase is over. I will have your heart, Seventh One."
And so, the woman then readied herself as I coughed and struggled. My mind is scattered, confused. Being chased by someone who isn't normal. And now, I'm going to die here… I can't… I refuse to. That's right… I cannot die. And yet, I spoke.
"All this life… My dream is to pursue the path of the magus. And I still continue to do that." I continued as I held my right hand to my chest, clenching it tightly. "We lost our parents to that day and forced myself to live a life in shame in order to keep our family name alive. I'm done running away. My future was stolen from me and I'll never get it back. I cannot die… I refuse to die… And I've made up my mind… I won't give up… TO A MURDERER SUCH AS YOU!"
Third Person POV
Then, just at that very moment… Yusei's right back hand begins to glow brightly like a flash of crimson red. The lance-wielding woman was about to strike him down but she was pushed back from the reaction. And then, there was the red pillar of light that beamed up into the stratosphere as it pierced the sky. It was so bright, the Masters and Servants caught the attention in some places where Rider was seen driving the 1943 Toyota AC that Sebas drove previously where Luvia was on the backseat. Rider stopped the car the moment they saw the light while Oryou was sitting on top of the car as usual.
"Well now. It seems the Seventh has finally appeared along with its Master. Shall we check it out?" Rider asked his Master as Luvia nodded..
"Then please do so. We can't afford to waste time. So step on it!" Luvia commanded as Rider seemingly understood her orders as he cranks the shift and steps on the pedal as the vehicle builds up speed in order to chase the red light that happened at that very city in Kyoto at some particular ward.
First Person POV
And so, as the bright red light shines down and the smoke billows away. I opened my eyes where I saw the back of my right hand finally formed into a symbol of three squares tilted like diamonds. Two on the left and right and one on top. This… This is a Command Seal! Then that means… Of course… It finally happened… I looked at the woman in front of me that was recently summoned. White robes with some azure blue inside it, gold trims on the edge of the clothing, the hat of a witch, large round glasses, blonde hair with her braid rest upon her right shoulder that reaches down to her legs, white high heels with gold trims, and she wielded both a wooden staff with red strange parts and chains on it along with a black strange tome with blue latches hanging as it was floating. And so, she proceeded to turn around and meet me.
"Interesting. To think I would be summoned here in the midst of the moonlight's dance. But allow me to introduce myself. I am Servant Caster, who has responded to your summonings. I ask you… Are you my summoner?" Caster introduced herself the moment our eyes finally met when I was on the floor with my body up and she looked at me. Our eyes meet in this very night as the moon shines over us. And yet, my mind takes action…
"Yes…" I said without thinking. "I'm the one who summoned you."
"Good! Then the contract is sealed. My staff shall be yours to wield." Caster said as she then shifted her eyes at the lance-wielding woman. "By that lance of yours, you wouldn't happen to be a Lancer, yes?"
"That I am." The woman known as Lancer continued as she twirled both of her lances and readied herself. "Now that you've been finally summoned into this world. The Holy Grail War can finally begin."
"I'm quite aware of it." Caster continued as she mentioned me. "Master, please remain here and rest. I shall deal with this pesky Lancer immediately."
"D-Don't! You'll get killed!" I tried to warn her.
"What are you saying? Do you really believe that Casters are weak? Prefering to hide in their domains? But as for me?" Caster then has her tome flipped pages rapidly and stops the moment she twirled her staff and prepared herself. "I'm more on the offensive side."
"An offensive Caster… interesting… Let's see how you can fare against my lances…!" Lancer then dashes directly at Caster until…
[SNAP!]
Caster snapped her fingers on her left hand the moment Lancer stepped on something. A blue puddle appeared with a glow as it caught her attention.
[BWOOOOSH! SPLASH!]
The sound of water rising out of the ground as it splashes while Lancer took a step back. She was rather unfazed as she then prepared to ready herself again. She stood a sidestep and ran on the left before homing onto Caster with a thrust.
[CLANG!]
Caster had already summoned her sword on her left hand the moment the blunt of the Caster's sword itself had blocked the thrust. Causing Lancer to throw off balance but regained her footing as the two would exchange blades against each other as the two backed off. Caster was in the air as she used her staff to swing it to the right, causing balls of water to form as it shot towards her enemy like a bullet. Lancer responded by swinging her lances around to repel them with ease. Caster landed gracefully as she was next to me as soon as I got up. Watching the whole fight is just crazy… So this is the Holy Grail War that I've been hearing about…!
"Why do you persist, Caster?" Lancer demanded as my Servant would ponder for a small moment.
"Why do I persist, you ask?" Caster continues as she then comes up with an answer. "Well, Lancer. You've seen my capabilities of what I can do. In your mind, you think I fight like a Saber. But all and all, I'm a Caster through and through. Do my words suffice on such trivial persistence? Surely you've made up your mind."
"I tire of this conversation. Your honey words stained my mouth. And I shall not be ashamed no longer. I will end this battle in two strikes…!" Lancer said as she begins to gather this much prana around her as the ominous red energy releases around her as her lances on each hand gathers this much power.
"Master… I suggest that you should stand back." Caster said as we began to see of what's happening.
"Here I go…" Lancer said as she prepared herself. "This spear is an embodiment of who I am. And I am the epitome of the spear."
[FWOOSH! CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!]
The moment Lancer threw her first spear directly at us. Caster immediately conjured out five layers of her magic shield made out of water. Yet, the speed of the spear thrown is completely inhuman from the eyes of a normal person. She tried to resist it as I watched with my composure.
[CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!]
Three shields were broken through by a single red spear. But the moment Lancer readied herself to hurl another one… she did so.
"Gáe Bolg Alternative!" Lancer announced, releasing her Noble Phantasm the moment she threw the second spear as it collided with the first spear from behind as it gathers up more strength as the force is too powerful. Caster continued to resist it as the another shield shattered as it was down to one. But the very moment the crimson red glows from the surge of the collision…
[BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!]
An explosion of smoke that was so large… I couldn't even fathom what's happening here. But the smoke was cleared away by the winds as most buildings were destroyed within the range and the car alarms were going off from the distance. I stood up and coughed about what happened… the road was destroyed and my Caster still stands, kneeling on the floor where she had survived the attack. The red lances on the floor begin to vibrate and move on their own as Lancer calls her weapons back as she catches them, twirling them with style.
"Caster! Are you okay!?" I ran up to her to check on my Servant.
"I'm… I'm fine… You worry too much, you know?" Caster said as she got up on her own as I did the same. "Well this is truly surprising, to think you'd go out of your way to unleash your very own Noble Phantasm. An impressive feat for the Queen of the Land of Shadows."
"Tch…" Lancer spat as she looked away. "And yet, my True Name has been revealed already. But it does not matter. I will not stop until you're defeated."
"I cannot permit you to fight any longer, Scathatch." The voice of a woman spoke behind us as we turned around. It was another blonde woman with a braid as she wielded a flagged pole as the flag itself was blown by the wind… is that a Fleur de Lis? Not to mention… She has another girl with her. And she has a Command Seal on the side of her neck. Who is she?
"You… You're Ruler…" Lancer called her name as she was aware.
"Seems you know me. Good, then I don't need to waste time." Ruler then continued and pointed at her. "As the mediator of this Holy Grail War. I cannot allow any Servants to fight here any longer. Thus, I have seen that the Seventh Servant has been summoned into this world."
Ruler mentioned the Seventh… That means the Seventh here is Caster.
"Servant Lancer Scathatch. You are to turn back and retreat. Attacking a defenseless Master who summoned a Servant is your first offense. Defying my orders will result in forcing me to use my Master's Command Seals on you. Do I make myself clear?" Ruler threatened with such a serious tone. Though, her words managed to reach the lance-wielding Servant as she had to comply, forcing herself to stand down.
"…Very well. I shall comply with your orders and retreat back to my Master." Lancer turned around but her eyes darted at Caster and I. "But know this, Master of Caster. The next night we meet; should we cross again, I will not go easy on you."
And so, Lancer walked away as her body disappeared out of thin air… She was gone.
"You there, Master of Caster. Are you unharmed?" The woman known as Ruler asked me as I looked at her.
"Y-Yeah. I'm fine. I'm just glad Caster here saved me from certain death. I should thank you for stopping this fight. If this would've continued, we wouldn't have survived any longer." I said to her as she chuckled kindly.
"Please, pay it no mind." Ruler smiled. "It is my duty to keep this Holy Grail War in check. However, before you can head home and rest. You still need to register yourself at the church. The Overseer of the War is awaiting you."
"Right… I'll keep that in mind…" I said as my mind just popped in as I snapped back to reality. "I'll go there just as you asked."
"A wise choice, Master of Caster. Now then… Asano, let us depart." Ruler said to the girl named Asano as she nodded without speaking. The two would then turn around and leave. And just like that… they were gone. Now, it was just us two.
"My life couldn't get any worse than this, can it?" I asked myself.
"Nonsense. Ruler had managed to step in and intervene. We should be thankful for her help. However, we still need to meet her again in order for you to register at the church with that Overseer. That way things like this can really kick off." Caster said as I scratched the back of my head. "Now then, let us proceed with our long walk."
"W-Wait, you haven't told me your name-" The moment I started to rest my left hand on her shoulder… I felt a strange sensation triggering as I felt a strange surge of prana flowing into me like some lifestream. Caster stopped and turned around to look at me, unaware of what's going on. "W-What in the…!?"
Background Music End
The color of the blue lifestream flows into my body. And just as the line between me and Caster disappears… the tinnitus kicks in within my head as the searing pain stabs my brain as I hold my hands to my head, screaming for my life.
"GAAAAAAAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" I fell to the floor, trying to resist this gut-wrenching pain in my head. I can hear Caster calling out to me. It was muffling. I couldn't hear what she's saying. Yet, those screams were from me as I continued to yell. And then suddenly… The screams stop as I open my eyes, finding myself here in this black void. No sound, all silence.
"Hello?" I tried calling out to the void. There was no response.
But I heard something behind me… The sound of weeping the moment I turned around. It was a figure of a strange person who looked completely alien. He had four arms, long gray hair. And yet, he was weeping. So, I decided to slowly approach him as he was kneeling on the floor. I was confused of what's going on but… I need to know.
"Hey…" I asked. "Are you okay?"
The moment I placed my hand onto his shoulder. He stops weeping and slowly turns his head to see my hand. And just as he slowly moved his left hand from one of his limbs the moment he was about to place on it… Everything cuts to black.
"Who… are you…?"
"U-UWWAH!" I instantly woke up as reality dragged my back once again. I found myself on the asphalt the moment I lifted my body up. "W-What was that…?"
"Thank goodness you're awake." The voice of Caster spoke as I turned my head to her. "I had a bad feeling that you were going to be unconscious after your blood-curdling screams. Are you okay?"
"Yeah… Yeah, I am." I continued. "Sorry if I freaked you out over this. I apologize."
"Don't beat yourself up. I was surprised this was the first time seeing this happen to you. I'll figure out what happened but for now… We got company." Caster said as she mentioned where we heard a vehicle coming. And then… the vehicle stops as the driver would get out of the car the moment Caster helped me up.
"Well now, Master. It appears we were late to the party. The just happened just a few minutes ago. Apologies if I can't go any quicker." The voice of a young man wearing a fancy uniform and a fedora spoke to his Master where the young woman who stepped out of the vehicle.
"That's fine, Rider." The woman spoke the moment she approached us. "Interesting. So you're the Seventh Master here in this Holy Grail War."
"I am… And who might you be?" I asked her as she would introduce herself.
"Luviagelita Edelfelt. You can call me Luvia for short if you wish to do so." Luvia spoke her name as my mind began to sink in the moment she said her name… This gives me the curiosity as if I had my arms crossed.
"Your name seems familiar. What would an Edelfelt like you be doing here in Kyoto?" I asked her as she seemingly made her answer.
"Well isn't it obvious? I'm here to participate in the Holy Grail War. Do you even have knowledge about it?" Luvia asked.
"My parents told me about it. They're also magus but… Right now, it doesn't matter. I need to visit this church where the Overseer is at because I need to register for the war. That's all you need to know." I explained to her about my next step.
"Ahh, yes. Many others are already registered so that means you're the only one left. But worry not, we're not here to fight. My Servant Rider here will take you there. Isn't that right?" Luvia said to her as she flicked her hair to show off her brilliance.
"O-Of course, Master. Even though we're meant to be enemies, if you're willing to take this guy here. I'm willing to do so." Rider said as the woman sitting on top of the car spoke to Rider.
"Hey, can I eat him? He looks tasty." The woman asked him.
"Please, Oryou. No eating people. We're only here to escort the Seventh Master and Servant to the church as our Master ordered." Rider said to the woman named Oryou as I sweatdropped.
"Just who is this snarky-looking brat…" I said with such an unimpressive tone.
"I can't wait to punch you in the face…" Oryou replied with a calm but hostile tone.
"Ahem!" Luvia cleared her throat. "We cannot afford to waste time before these witnesses show up. We need to go."
"Right. Caster, let's go." I said to my Servant as we both decided to enter the car. With Rider on the driver's seat.
Me on the front passenger seat. Luvia and Caster in the back seat. Though, the car here looks old. I wonder why or how Luvia managed to get this one while Rider has begun driving to another way to leave the scene.
"Summoner?" Caster asked me as I heard her. "I know we've only met after Lancer has retreated and revealed her true name. Calling you Master doesn't seem right. Yet, you never told me your name."
"Oh, right… I forgot, didn't I." I looked down a little upon realizing. I guess I do owe her on this one, do I? Well, I better do it anyway. "The names Yusei Hieda. It's… a pleasure to meet you, Caster."
"Hmm… I see." Caster pondered as she looked back at me. "Very well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Yusei. As long as you don't boast your status or acting high and mighty. You're good in my books."
"Right. I'll keep note of that." I said to her as some form of a casual greeting.
"Hieda… That's something I've never heard of. If your family name is part of the Clock Tower?" Luvia asked me about my family name but I'm willing to answer her questions while Rider drives down the quiet road while this woman named Oryou is still sitting on the top of the car. I mean… I can see her legs on the side of the window.
"Not really, no. We were never part of the Clock Tower to begin with. We're pretty much independent on our own. Though, I had plans to go to the Clock Tower to learn more magecraft. But now that the Holy Grail War is happening… I suppose I'll never earn my place there, huh?"
"Unfortunately, you are correct." Luvia continued. "If you were to win the Holy Grail War or survive to the end if your Servant disappeared. There is still a chance. But I know this question is out of the blue… Are you the current heir of this Hieda Family you speak of?"
"Yeah… I have a sister who is more talented than me. We do have parents but… They were killed during the Tohoku tsunami incident. Their trip there cost their lives." I explained to Luvia of this as she was caught off guard by what I've said.
"I… I'm sorry for your loss. This was something I've never expected regarding your country suffering through that tragedy." Luvia felt a bit down on it as I tried to reassure her.
"It's okay. Me and my sister learned to move on. Well… except for me. I still struggle with the concept of loss. But they always tell me to never dwell into the past too much." I continued to explain. "So yeah, that's pretty much our life right now until this happened."
"I see…" Caster continued as she looked at me. "So the world has suffered from this natural disaster that has claimed many lives. But I'm curious about your sister. You said that she's more talented than you?"
"Yeah. She is." I continued. "Her skills in magecraft are much more refined than mine. You see, the Hieda family comes from a lineage of gemcrafters. Not only that, the Hieda family is grounded in Chronicling."
"So your family is similar to those Tohsakas with some added bonuses, correct?" Luvia asked.
"Somewhat yeah. Their talents are much better than ours. We're simply a laughing stock while the Tohsakas are up on top of the magus family list. Yet, we're only talented in recording past histories and so forth." But I was willing to ask them a question that kept bugging me… "But here is a question out of nowhere, Luvia-san. Why do you have to own this old-looking car? You could have bought yourself like uh… Mercedes?"
"As much as I want one… Tell that to my butler. He was the one who bought it for me during my time here in Kyoto." Luvia explained as we were all interrupted.
"Everyone, while you people were enjoying talking to each other in this pleasant conversation. I do believe that we're here." Rider informed us as I looked out of the window…
Church, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky
This is exactly the place I needed to be. So, me and Caster got out of the car as I turned around to look at them.
"You're not coming with us?" I asked.
"No need. We did our task of bringing you to this location. We'll be heading home for the night. But I will warn you this; the next time we meet. We will become enemies." Luvia warned as Rider lowered his hat as he seemingly agreed.
"Sadly, my Master's right. That's just the way the Holy Grail War works. However, it was a pleasure to see you, Yusei-san. Do take care on your way back after this." Rider said in such a kind but calm manner. But I looked at Oryou.
"Yeah that's right. We'll beat you for sure." Oryou spoke as Rider simply chuckled in embarrassment.
"Now now, take it easy there, Oryou." Rider said.
"Rider, let's get going already…" Luvia said as he agreed without hesitation. "Until then, Yusei. Don't die."
And so, the car begins to move as Rider and Luvia had left. Now it's just the two of us.
"Shall we enter inside, Yusei?" Caster said to me as I nodded.
"Yeah. I just hope nothing bad happens anytime soon. Still need to figure out who this Overseer is." I said as we approached the door as we opened it together. And once we're inside… Someone is already dead on the floor. A man whose priest robes were bloodied all over as the wounds I saw on the chest was a huge cut. Most likely a stab on the chest. "H-Holy shit…"
"Well. This is… truly expected. It seems this Overseer we're supposed to meet is killed… by who? Your world is truly bizarre in so many ways. Are all people natural born killers?" Caster asked as I shook my head.
"What? No." I continued. "Only people who would drag themselves on a darker path. But this is the first time seeing this happen… Damn it. Change of plans, we're going home. Well… my home."
"Your home, you say? Well, after what happened to this poor priest. Though it's most likely the right choice to do so. However, I highly suggest telling Ruler of what's going on now that this happened." Caster suggested the idea to me as I pondered about it for a small second.
"Good idea. We can talk more while we head back." I said to her as we decided to make our leave as she continued to follow me. But, I was willing to strike up a conversation with her. Even though she's my Servant. "Say, Caster. You're familiar with this country, aren't you?"
"Sadly, I have not. As much as I'm willing to tell the truth to you. I feel like I haven't settled myself here in this Japan that the Grail spoke of. Things such as cars or… smartphones are new to me. Apologies. Though, your name does come from this world you're from. So this gives me an idea, Yusei." Caster continued as she softly clasped her hands together and looked at me with a smile. "How about you show me all over Kyoto here. Perhaps this will help me understand what the world is like here with you people. Like your lives, daily routines, and other things in particular. You wouldn't say no to your new friend, no?"
"Eh? Err… Well, I can't blame you for that… So sure, I'll try my best to show you some places here in this city. After all, I was born and raised here. Starting tomorrow, how about I take you to one of the finest locations all around Kyoto?" I asked her about this idea as she smiled kindly as she would accept.
"Gladly." Caster replied as we decided to focus on returning back to our home.
Hieda Residence, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky
And so, we've made it back here. I showed the Caster of our humble home the moment we entered inside. The lights are off so I assume my sister is sleeping. As I was about to casually have her follow me to my room… I heard a click coming from the main living room… Of course… Shizuru is expecting me… The lights are on here.
"Yusei-sama… Care to give me an explanation?" The maid raised her brow in suspicion. "And not only that. You brought in a woman with you."
"Shizuru… I can explain…" I said to the maid the moment I showed her my Command Seal in hopes she'll understand. And understand she did. Much to her surprise…
"Y-You… You're a Master? The Holy Grail War happened? Here?" Shizuru said in slight surprise.
"Yeah. Surprised?" I continued. "I didn't realize it until now. But thanks to our parent's knowledge on the Holy Grail War. I think I already found myself in what predicament I'm in but she was the one who saved me from Lancer's attack."
Shizuru managed to get her bearings after I explained to her what happened. She clears her throat as she looks at my Servant.
"You there… Is this true?" Shizuru asked her as she nodded.
"Indeed. I saved him the moment I was summoned that very night." Caster said as the main would maintain her calm composure.
"In that case, allow me to give you my sincerest thanks for saving Yusei-sama. I hope you can take care of him as he takes care of you." Shizuru gracefully bows as Caster giggled a little.
"P-Please. Pay it no mind. I only did what's best for both of us." Caster was a bit embarrassed but she can get by it. However, I heard a yawn coming from upstairs as I looked. Of course… My sister's here.
"Hmm? I heard some noise… Huh?" Akyuu arrived as she yawned while feeling drowsy until the moment she looked at me and Caster. "Brother?"
"Ahh… Hey, Akyuu. Sorry to wake you up. I suppose I owe you and explanation…" I said to her as this would cause me to explain everything about what happened regarding the Holy Grail War here in Kyoto. Caster had introduced herself to both Akyuu and Shizuru as it turned into a casual conversation. And so here we are.
"I see… But Caster, I must thank you for saving my Brother from certain death. Now that this Holy Grail War has begun. I can only expect things to get worse from here on out." Akyuu said as she looked at me. "As for you, Brother. I need you to be careful every night. Being out with your Servant will only get you killed. After all, you can't fight them."
"I know. The only way to sever it is to kill a Master. So I know what I'm exactly doing." I continued. "Akyuu, you need to sleep. Your steps on becoming a magus is a long road as mine does. Remember what our father told us?"
"Keep following the path and never stop practicing magecraft, I get it." Akyuu said as she yawned. "However… I'm… feeling sleepy… Shizuru…"
"At once, Akyuu-sama." Shizuru said as she would help my sister up. "You should sleep as well, Yusei-sama."
"I know. But what of Caster? She needs a room." I asked her.
"Worry not. I will guide your Servant to her new room so she can rest." Shizuru reassured me but Caster shook her head.
"I appreciate the offer but… We Servants do not require sleep. We can enter our Spirit Form to help conserve mana as long as you're sharing it." Caster added as I interjected calmly.
"I know that part but you're a Caster. You need sleep… and perhaps you need a workshop as well. I'll have to study your parameters once I get the time." I continued as I proceeded to head upstairs but stopped and reminded my Servant again. "For now, go to your new room and get some sleep. Tomorrow's gonna be a new day. I'll show you around Kyoto and treat you to some of the finest foods in the East. Deal?"
"That's a deal, Yusei. I'll do as you asked." Caster said as we both headed upstairs. Shizuru guided the Servant to her new room in order for her to set up a workshop.
And I went to my room and quickly fell face first on the bed as I felt tired from all of this happening here. The Holy Grail War… Servants… Man, all of my life just turned upside down… But maybe things might get better overtime instead of getting worse… Goodnight, me… A new day starts tomorrow…
As I was sleeping soundly after our first night. I am going to tell Ruler about what happened. But is finding her going to be tough? On top of all that, I promised Caster that I should show her around the place here in Kyoto.
Unknown Location, Kyoto, Japan Midnight - Clear Sky
Meanwhile, within the audience chamber within an old manor… a young girl with a sky blue dress, short blonde hair, and aquamarine eyes sat on her own seat as she was laughing hysterically through sheer joy and happiness. But not the happiness that was represented.
"Ahahahahahaha!~ This is amazing! You did well on killing that meddling priest. With it, the Ruler should not know it's us. But alas, this is only a matter of time in this petty war. So good job on following my orders, Saber. You're truly the best Servant out there!~" The young girl praised her Servant Saber gleefully knowing that she was capable of getting the job done with no questions answered at all.
The Servant was a large figure who wore pristine silver armor with no helmet at all but it revealed her face as she had long blonde hair, yellow eye on her right and turquoise eye on her left. Though her gauntlet colors are a complete mismatch as one was pure silver while the other was metallic black. And her most distinct feature was her black crown-like horns on her head. Yet, she remains stoic as Saber would kneel down and respond.
"I did as you have told me, Master. With the priest dead by the hands of me. The one who'll stand in our way is none other than Ruler… Shall I deal with her next?" Saber asked her as she shook her head.
"No need, The Holy Grail War still needs her. But first… I'd like to do something for me…" The young girl continued as she pointed to her right where Saber looked from her eyes. And what she saw was a group of innocent bystanders that was seemingly captured around twelve of them. They were struggling as people were moaning, pleading for mercy and help.
"Master…" Saber said to her as she looked at them.
"You see those people over there? I had some… extra help from another Servant I've acquired. Of course, I'm talking about the Rogue Berserker that was summoned without a Master." The young girl said as she brought forth another Servant to the mix where a hulking figure stood there.
The Rogue Berserker as what she has called him has short red hair on top of his head and plain white eyes. He wore a red Chinese uniform including large armor and thick fur trimming at the collar and gloves.
"Rogue… Berserker?" Saber continued. "Young Master, with all due respect. Are you sure this is wise? What if Ruler finds out about this? Surely six other Servants are summoned without a Master."
"Oh, they've already summoned you right after I summoned you. It's merely a simple guess. Now then, Saber. With that out of the way… please proceed with your plans. Turn them into a mindless army of hounds.~" The young girl commands her to do so… Saber wouldn't reject it but orders are orders, and she is to follow them.
"…Understood." Saber complied as she would walk towards the group of captured innocent people, all chained up with their hands cuffed. The moment her eyes meet an innocent woman who was showing tears from her face as she was kneeling on the floor…
"Please… Don't kill me… I don't want to die… I have a husband... Please, don't do this… I beg you…" The woman pleaded and sobbed as she was begging for her life to be spared. She didn't want any part of this the moment she was captured by Rogue Berserker all part of the young girl's intentions… Sadly, Saber would refuse her pleas and instead speaks to her as her left black gauntlet materializes out blue flaming chains from her hands.
"I'm sorry…" Saber said with slight remorse as she hurled her chains up into the air as the chains home on to the captured people as it attacked them.
Suddenly, she could hear the people's screams of agony and pain as the black-bluish fire consumed their body. Rather than burning their skin into nothingness. It would instead convert them as their body horrifyingly mutates and change as the sound of bone crunching and flesh shifting as the chains continue to change them. And just like that… It was done. Saber retracted those chains back to her hand as it disappeared. The people are no longer people… they've been turned into mindless hounds who obediently sat there like a line of army soldiers. And as a result… the young girl would laugh again and clap.
"Ahahahaha!~ Amazing! Spectacularly amazing!~" The young girl continued. "I knew you would listen! With these hounds you converted. There are yours to command, after all.~"
"I appreciate your praise, Master. You're too kind…" Saber accepts her praise as the latter giggled cutely.
"Of course, I'm kind!~ Now then. With the first night coming at an end and the sun rises. We shall initiate the second plan. And we must play our cards right." The young girl continued as she continued to sit there as she had a smug-looking smile on her face. "I, Manaka Sajyou, shall claim this victory of the Grail itself. And with it…"
"Bring forth the Armageddon…"
[TO BE CONTINUED…]
Author's Notes: Hello all, thank you so much for reading the new Fate story set within a new saga called "Grand Requiem". As the name implies, it will continue the connection from Fate/novissima Dissonance's finale (spoilers if you haven't read it) and explore new worlds created by the separate Alter Egos. This world in particular is indeed set within the modern era of Fate/type Redline. But altered in some way so there won't be any direct connections to the original itself. And what I mean by that… I wanted to add some mix to it. The world will be a mix between [Type Redline] and [Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya] within the modern era. The story? Well, I can say that it'll continue the traditional Holy Grail War as intended but with some added bonuses that take inspiration from Fate/Samurai Remnant's Rogue Servants that were introduced (for gameplay reasons). Now, as for the making of this story. After tons of patience and what I've learned from my previous stories. Primarily Fate/nD, The story I did was intended to be short with longer chapter length as a way to close out the Strange Grail Saga for good and I did. But it came with problems within me that in my mind, it felt rushed. And for that, I sincerely apologize for my previous decision on Novissima Dissonance. So hopefully, I'll try to do my best by putting more effort into this story and try to avoid making shorter chapters. So I'll say this. There will be more than 5 chapters as I want to explore Kyoto as the new battleground for this "Third Imperial Holy Grail War". But is it really called "Imperial" though? Perhaps this story itself is much larger than that. So yeah, the concept theme for Hyalus Decadence is all about "purpose". Purpose as in… a goal, to be exact. But the protagonist struggles to find that purpose now that he's taking part in the Grail War. All will be explored in the next chapter. Oh and, I will also put in more time in action scenes, fatalities, and more tragic character deaths. And what of Yusei? Why did he touch Caster's shoulder and ended up getting some weird thing flowing in him? Again, you'll just have to find out. And in later chapters… Perhaps things are gonna get real. Until then, peace out!

Though, this war in particular is meant to continue what happened in the aftermath of Tokyo's destruction 80 years ago. But according to the notes from Francesca where she had called the Tokyo aftermath, "A tumultuous comedic tragedy of greater fools".
