Mobius' dreams

The first friend Loki was able to find was Mobius. He had seen that Mobius was going to stay in his own timeline for a little while. See where he came from and how that life was like.

Mobius looked at Don playing with his sons in the yard. He knew he wanted to stay around a little longer and maybe try a personal-water-transport. He looked around the neighborhood for a hotel to stay at for the night.

A couple blocks away there was a B&B and Mobius checked in. The old lady taking care of the B&B asked him whether he wanted some dinner and he said yes.

"You know, you remind me of this sales guy in the center." The old lady said, while giving the gentle man renting a room his plate of dinner. "Oh really, how so ma'am?" Mobius asked her.

"You look a bit like him, brothers perhaps?" She said with a secret smile. "Something like that yeah." The blond guy answered looking a bit awkward.

"Don't worry dear, no matter how the two of you are related, he will be happy, I know." She said. She knew Don and his boys quite well. After their mother disappeared in the blib Don would sometimes have her watch over the boys. Especially in the beginning, it helped him a lot. She wondered who her tenant for the night was to Don, but that was a question for tomorrow.

After they had finished dinner, Mobius went up to his room and sat down. Now that he thought about it, this was the first time that he can remember to go sleeping outside of the TVA.

Mobius changes his outfit for a nice pajama he had bought earlier that day. He sat in bed and thought about what all had happened since Loki broke the loom at took its place.

He thought about the restructuring of the TVA, how they looked at how different timestreams worked. What all appeared, He was amazed at all the possibilities that appeared since the end of the sacred timeline.

They were lucky that no variant of the One Who Remains had become a problem yet, but they were ready for when that moment comes.

With those thoughts in mind Mobius laid down and fell asleep on the comfortable bed. Whishing he could talk with his friend one more time, to learn what all happened and why he just closed the door on them before going into the void.

When Mobius opened his eyes, he was back in the Loom room, looking out the windows. He expected to see the Loom breaking down or something, but instead he saw the new tree that was now Loki's home.

"Hello Mobius, it is good to see you again." A familiar voice said behind him. When the TVA agent looked around, he saw Loki standing there in his TVA uniform with a soft smile on his face.

"Loki is that really you?" the agent asked while slowly walking towards him. Then he gave Loki a manly hug. "I missed you man." He stepped back to take another look at his friend. He noticed that the god seemed older in the eyes, which was quite something, as Loki was already over a thousand years old when he came in as a variant.

"It is also good to see you again Mobius, and yes, it is really me." Loki answered his friend as he hugged him back.

"What happened to you man?" Mobius asked. "One moment we were planning to send Timely through the tunnel to the Loom, the next you go down, close the tunnel, open the door and destroy the Loom. How the hack did you destroy it and what did you do with all does strings that were trailing behind you?" the mild-mannered man asked in one breath.

"A lot happened my friend, a lot." is Loki's answer with a soft smile. With a small wave of his hand Loki changes the room they are in from the observation deck to the time-theater where they first met. He waved for his friend to sit down and turned on the screen for Mobius to see his memories.

"At first Timely did go down and opened the gate, but as soon as he stepped outside, he was turned to spaghetti. We were too late, and the suit wasn't strong enough to protect him. The Loom broke and there was a big flash of light. The TVA started a shutdown process, and I was time slipping again. Everybody was send back to their branched timelines and forgot who they were. I was slipping from one place to another. I luckily found O.B. and was able to give him the TVA handbook. So he was able to help me gather you all and gave me tips on how to control the time slipping." Loki explained, thinking back about that time when he was the one who knew most about what was going on, and he still didn't know what the hell he was doing. On the screen Loki showed the explosion, how he found himself alone in the TVA and how he started to time-slip to different locations and times.

"It took some time, but I learned to control it. I was able to go back to the observation deck and see it happen again and asked OB what we could have done. He thought we had to be quicker. I tried it all, many times, over and over and over." He gave a deprecating gufa. "After about a hundred tries I asked OB how long it would take me to learn everything he knew. He said centuries, so that is what I did. I learned it all, I figured out every step we had to take to widen the loom. I finally managed it after many, many tries, but it wasn't enough." Loki said sadly.

Mobius was awestruck by what he was hearing. It seems his friend went through a lot to find a way to get his friends back and keep them. "Wow man, that sounds really hard. How did you stay sane through that all?" He asked, because even though he was centuries old, like most in the TVA, he couldn't imagine doing the same thing repeatedly, just to find the single way to do it.

"I probably didn't, there was a little while that I just watch Timely kill himself over and over while I just watched. I even changed the suit, to see whether I could make his spaghetti take on certain forms, before completely disappearing." On the screen was a Timely who turned to spaghetti which took the form of Mickey mouse ears.

"At the end I was able to set it all up where Timely was able to send in the expander and have him come back. It worked for a minute, but not enough. The expansion was exponential and infinite, while the expander wasn't. It was like dividing a number by 0." Loki looked sad when he told his friend this. "I figured I had to go back to the beginning, to when the One Who Remains was killed."

"And what did you do?" Mobius asked his friend. "I tried to stop Silvy. I fought her many times, but I could never take the next step and kill her." Loki looked at the Silvy on screen. "After a while I started trying to talk to OWR. At first, he was always in control of our talks, but by repeating it over again and again, I managed to know what buttons to push, to get the right info. I figured out what I had to do. I had to make a new option." On the screen the scene was shown where OWR gave the options, kill Silvy then and stop him from dying, or kill him and let the TVA shut down, killing his friends.

"The third option was to break the Loom and replace it with something else. I know there is a solution, but I can't figure that out on my own. Until that time, I will have to keep the timelines alive." On screen was a life image of Loki sitting on his throne, surrounded by vines symbolizing different timelines.

"So now what?" Mobius asked. "For now, I talk to my friends in their dreams and have some fun. Do you want to ride a water ski?" With these words Loki opened a portal, like a time door. When the two walked through it, they were on a beach with a pair of jet skis ready and a couple of ramps on the water.

The two had fun together for a couple of hours, just relaxing on the water. As the sun set Mobius asked: "So when will I see you again?" "If you want, every night. I am now the god of Stories and what are dreams, but short stories we make up every night that we sleep?" Loki said, while sadly looking at the descending sun.

"What should I tell the others?" Mobius asked the lonely god. "Tell them that I'm still here, I can hear them if they call my name. If they want to meet up, they will have to sleep in a timeline." Loki said, while hugging his friend. "If you want me to come and visit, call out to me and say: 'see you soon'. I will come."

With those words, the world faded, and Mobius woke up in the little B&B. He was uncertain whether it had been just a dream, or if it had been real. His heart said yes, but still.

After doing his morning routine and packing his things, he went downstairs to the dining room for breakfast. The old lady greeted him: "Hello dear, did you sleep well?" Mobius gave a shrug "It was alright. Your bed was really soft, so that wasn't the problem." He answered, before preparing his toast.

"Oh, I remember some strange dreams I had when I was younger." Granny said while reminiscing. "I remember a tall handsome man once appeared, suddenly to save me from a nightmare. He said he was learning how to walk in dreams. I met him a couple more times while asleep, though he never gave me his name." She ended in a frown. "Oh well, doesn't matter now dear."

After they finished breakfast Mobius helped with the cleaning up, before he moved out. "Good luck with Don dear." Granny said, before closing the door of her B&B.

Mobius once more stood near the house Don and his boys live in. He steps forwards and pushes the bell. Don opens the door and is surprised to see a man who looks just like him. "Hello, how can I help you?" He asks. "Hi, my name is Mobius. I recently found out I had family here and hoped to meet them." Mobius answered, a little awkwardly.

Unexpectedly, Don had a look of recognition on his face. "Oh, nice to meet you Mobius. You know, a friend of mine told me he knew someone who looked just like me. He was a really weird fellow though." "Oh, how so?" Mobius asked, wondering how Don would know of him. "He called himself Loki and he was looking for a way to save the TVA, whatever that might have been."

Mobius knew something strange was going on now. "Yeah, it might be best that I come inside." He stepped over the threshold and disappeared from view.
