"Wait... So you are a Nogitsune?" A vampire student asked for the fifth time and Y/n felt a headache forming.

"For the millionth time, yes... What don't you understand?" Y/n growled as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"What I don't understand is how you expect us to believe you," The blond-haired vampire scoffed as he crossed his arms over his chest. "No one has seen a Nogitsune in years, you could be lying to look cool..."

"I don't lie..."

"Bullshit, everyone lies!" The vampire glared at Y/n.

"The only bullshit thing I see is how your mother told you that you could be anything you want but she didn't tell you that the options were limited to either being a cunt, bloody retarded or god damn ugly and yet you Somehow chose all three," Y/n smirked as he leaned back on the couch, watching the vampire's hands curl into fists as he looked at Y/n, veins beginning to bulge around his eyes.

"That's enough," Alaric's voice called out as he entered the lounge area, eyes shifting from the vampire to the rest of the students around them who were chuckling at Y/n's comment and then finally settling on the Nogitsune. "Kurama, you're with me today," He muttered before motioning for Y/n to follow him.

"Kurama?" Y/n narrowed his eyes as he watched Alaric enter the room. "You son of a... Get back here!" Y/n practically yelled as he chased after Alaric.

"Hey, girls," Y/n finally caught up to the hunter as Alaric walked over to his daughters, Josie was dressed casually while Lizzie was already wearing her sports outfit. "Listen..."

"Don't do it," Josie quickly cut her father off as her gaze shifted between Alaric and Y/n momentarily. "Don't you dare say whatever it is you're about to say," She repeated, earning a confused look from both Alaric and Y/n. "Because you have Dad-Face and wherever Dad-Face goes, daughter disappointment always follows," She clarified.

"I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it to the game today," Alaric muttered, half apologetic.

"But you're the coach..." Josie stared at her father in disbelief.

"And I'm QB 1 this year," Lizzie whined as she looked at Alaric.

"I know and I hate it as much as you do," Alaric let out a sigh as he looked at the twins. "But I have to find Landon Kirby," He added.

"Okay, then let's cancel," Josie suggested with a smile, hope filling her eyes as she looked at her father. "I mean, it's a joke anyway, we can't use our powers so we suck," She explained with a disappointed tone.

"Exactly, which is a normal 'School for troubled rich kids' thing," Alaric explained. "This annual event lets the locals see you for who they think you are,"

"Pathetic nobodies with addiction problems, mental disorders or good-for-nothing parents..." Y/n rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall.

"Y/n..." Alaric glared at the Nogitsune.

"His right, they mock us..." Lizzie spoke, her voice filled with pain as she looked at her father with saddened eyes.

"Because they're insecure small-town kids with small minds, so just let it be," The older man spoke, his softer as he looked at his daughters. "Look girls, with Landon running around, knowing all our secrets, we have to protect our profile now more than ever," Alaric explained.

"Which means you need to look at least twenty times dumber out there," Y/n's sarcasm earned him a glare from both father and brunette daughter while Lizzie just shrugged her shoulders, seeming to agree with his irritation.

"Shut it..." Alaric glared at Y/n before turning his attention back to the twins. "So I need to know that I can trust you to do this," it wasn't a question but he did pause for the two girls to give him a nod. "Alright, I love the both of you, we'll try to be back as soon as we can," Alaric smiled as he readjusted the Duffle bag before motioning to Y/n. "Let's go," he muttered before walking off.

Y/n stood there for a moment before realization dawned on him. "We'll be back?" He muttered to himself, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion before turning to look at Alaric. "What do you mean 'let's go'?" He pushed off the wall and stormed after the older man.

Hope's POV

"What was that?" Rafael asked as he glared at the Tribrid.

"Your best friend did that to a bus full of people on Route 29 last night," Hope explained. "And I'm the only one who knows how to find him so give me the engine thingy," She added as she glanced at the greasy object in Rafael's hands.

"No,"

"I have actual magical powers..."

"And I've got a history of anger issues..." Rafael warned her as he took a menacing step closer.

"He can come," Alaric's voice caught the Tribrid's attention but not as much as the second voice.

"You must have been hit in the head if you think that I'm actually coming with," Hope looked over at the two figures walking over to them, Y/n trailing just behind Alaric and he looked pissed.

"For the last time, Y/n," Alaric groaned as he glanced over his shoulder at the Nogitsune. "Your... Skills... Will come in handy here," He added as he shook his head.

"What's going on?" Hope asked as she looked at the oldest person there.

"He knows Landon," Alaric explained as he motioned towards Rafael. "And we need all the help we can get," He added as he motioned towards Y/n.

"The only difference is, I'm not wasting my time trying to find a pathetic man-child who is running with a sharp object, I'd rather sit back and wait for him to fall with it," Y/n shrugged his shoulders with a chuckle, obviously picturing the scene in his head.

"That's my friend you're talking about," Rafael growled as he spun around and moved closer to Y/n. "You better watch what you say..." He added, his voice low as he tried to intimidate the Kitsune.

Hope watched as Y/n's laugh disappeared and for a moment it looked like Rafael had proven his dominance but that thought was quickly erased from the Tribrid's mind when Y/n took a step closer to Rafael as well, his normal e/c eyes became multiple shades darker. "You better take at least three steps back before I break so many bones in your body that your healing factor won't know where to start," Y/n warned, his usual bubbly voice was gone and replaced with a soft yet deep growl as he stared down the werewolf.

Hope watched as Rafael tensed up, her enhanced hearing gave it away that his heart rate had increased which signalled that he knew he was crossing a line and proving to her that his long history of anger issues' was his answer to everything and this time, that answer wasn't working for him.

"That's enough," Alaric interrupted the little stare-down between the two. "Everyone get in the vehicle," He ordered before looking at Rafael. "You go put on a shirt," He added before watching the werewolf walk off.

"Fuck no..." Y/n chuckled before shaking his head and turning around. "I couldn't care less about what happened to that guy," He waved his hand in the air as he slowly walked away from them.

Hope knew that his Nogitsune powers would help out a lot more, she also knew that if Landon was causing all this then that chaos and strife would make Y/n even stronger so he would be the best to deal with this so she needed to show him what was going on. "Hope, don't..." Before Hope could even register what Alaric was saying, she had already grabbed Y/n and said the needed incantation.

The spell started smoothly, images of the bus flashed through her mind which was followed up with the glowing dagger and then the burnt corpses but that's when it happened... For a brief moment, Hope saw green eyes looking through the darkness before her magic began going haywire.

Hope found herself standing in the middle of a large room, all the colour seemed to fade around her and she could feel the cold chill in the air. Screaming, was all she could hear around her and she watched Y/n run out from one of the rooms before moving over to a window and freezing, curiousity got the best of the Tribrid and she did the same.

Outside the house, she was in had been a war zone and that was still being nice about it, the streets were practically littered with bodies, some trying to crawl away as a large group of hooded men walked from house to house, some with swords and others with guns.

Now that Hope was next to the window, she could smell the heavy scent of Wolfsbane and Vervain in the air as gunshots became more audible while the screaming and crying became less and less. "Y/n..." A voice whispered as the two spun around to find a woman who looked to be in her late twenties. "You need to leave, go to the attic," She ordered before pointing at one of the closed rooms.

"Where is Dad?" Y/n asked as he looked at her, she didn't respond and instead pushed the younger Kitsune towards the room.

"Go," She ordered before noise was heard from downstairs, the sound of a door being kicked off its hinges. "Now! Go to Mystic Falls and find Alaric," She explained before shutting the door behind Y/n.

"Mikaelson..." A deep voice caused Hope to spin around and find another Y/n but just like her, he wasn't faded or darker like the memory version of him. "Get out!" He ordered as he grabbed her wrist, his eyes shining before she felt her magic come back to her.

Hope's eyes shot open as she looked up at Y/n who had spun around to face her, his hand wrapped around the wrist of her hand that she had placed on his neck when casting her spell, his eyes were dark again but this time they had a greenish hue in them as he glared at her. "Don't ever do that again," He growled as he took deep breaths.

Hope matched his breathing as she felt her pulse slow down, the feeling of being shocked was slowly disappearing and from what she could tell, Y/n had the same experience as her. Her eyes drifted down to his chest where there was a green glow from under his shirt. "What happened... I lost control of my powers..."

"Your magic clashed against Y/ns," Alaric explained as he threw his bag into the car, glaring at the two of them as if they had just killed someone. "A Nogitsune magic is a lot more erratic and uncontrollable, it doesn't take well to a witch probing Its mind,"

"It's mind?" Hope questioned as she looked up at Y/n again, her breath getting caught in her throat as she now only realized how close the two were. She shook her head to clear her thoughts as she took a few steps back and away from Y/n who was rubbing his forehead, clearing his thoughts and memories.

"A Kitsune isn't a Were-Creature like you," Alaric explained as he pulled out a bottle of water and a painkiller before making his way over to Y/n. "A Kitsune is a person who has the spirit of a fox connected to him," He added as he watched Y/n gladly take the pill. "Books don't talk about that because most authors don't know enough about most Shifters to actually explain it. So when you entered Y/n's mind, you caused his fox to become defensive and a Void Fox is very unpredictable and aggressive," He explained as he turned to face the Tribrid. "Now, like I said earlier, everyone in the car," He ordered as he motioned for Hope to get in.

Hope looked at Y/n one last time, noticing that the glow under his top was gone but his eyes still hadn't returned to 'normal' so she decided that maybe Alaric was right so she chose to listen, making her way around the car and into the passenger seat.

The ride was quiet and Hope was sure that it was better that way, no one was pissing anyone else off and the only time there was word exchange was when she and Alaric spoke about where to go.

Finally pulling to a stop right next to the forest, the four figures got out of the car and began their journey into the forest. "I don't know why he's still out here, he has a whole day lead on us," Hope muttered. "He could be anywhere,"

"Maybe because he doesn't have a reason to run," Sarcasm dripped off of each word that Rafael spoke as he looked at the Tribrid.

"Logic that would have been perfectly believable if he hadn't, you know, ran..." Hope shot back, her own sarcasm was heavy as she rolled her eyes, not even bothering to look at the werewolf behind her instead, her eyes wandered to the Nogitsune who was walking a few feet in front of them who had stopped, raising his hand slightly.

"Shh..." Alaric spoke up a second later from behind them as he looked around the forest, clearly noticing whatever Y/n had previously. "Do you hear that?" He looked at the group but obviously, his question seemed more directed towards the one in front of the pack.

"Someone's here," Y/n whispered in return, glancing over his shoulder.

Before Hope could fully understand what was going on, Y/n had run past her and Rafael as he chased after Alaric who had also begun running so she started chasing after them as well with Rafael next to her.

"It's alright, I'm not going to hurt you," The two of them caught up with Alaric and Y/n to find a woman who was wearing a dirty dress, she and the dress were covered in dirt and what seemed to be ash. "Were you on the bus? Can you tell us what happened?" The older man asked as they watched the terrified woman.

"She's a survivor?" Hope asked as she studied the woman.

"Most likely, she reaks of smoke," Rafael pointed out.

"Look, I need to get her to the police so she can get some medical attention," Alaric explained, shifting his gaze from the woman to the group and back. "Why don't you three go ahead, don't engage," He added and once again, his words were for the three of them and yet Hope couldn't shake the feeling that it was directed more towards Y/n. "We don't know how dangerous Landon is,"

"He's not dangerous, his..."

"I said don't engage," Alaric cut the werewolf off with a glare.

Hope watched Y/n simply roll his eyes before walking away from the group. "Come on," She looked at Rafael before walking after the Nogitsune with the werewolf following behind.

They walked in silence for a moment before Hope finally had enough and walked slightly faster until she had caught up with the Kitsune. "Look, about earlier," She began but was cut off.

"Forget about it,"

"What... No, you're clearly upset," She wasn't lying or anything, his eyes had stayed the darker shade since then, his tone was darker and he looked as if he was about to rip someone's throat up.

"I'm not upset, Mikaelson," Y/n rolled his eyes before looking at the woman next to him. "My fox is restless," He added as they walked. "And even if I was upset, it would be because I am missing out on Lizzie and Josie's game because of some idiot," He shrugged his shoulders, a playful smile pulling on his lips. "Don't worry your pretty little head off, I couldn't be angry at you," He smiled as he looked at her, giving her his usual playful wink.

Hope felt relief wash over when Y/n did that, Hope shook her head only realizing how much she had actually been thinking about this and that she should instead be focusing on the mission. "What exactly happened on that bus?" Rafael asked as he caught up with the two of them.

"No one knows," Hope answered as she looked at the werewolf. "They say something incinerated it from the inside," She explained with a huff.

"Look, whatever he did, I'm sure there is a good explanation," Rafael sounded confident in those words. "He's the most loyal friend I've ever had," He added. "He was there for me on the worst day of my life, after my girlfriend died, he was the only thing that kept me going, so let me get you the knife back and we can hear him out, okay?"

"I appreciate the passion but maybe you should be more concerned about making new friends," Hope rolled her eyes as she spoke.

"Why? So that I can be as popular as you?" Rafael chuckled as the three of them stopped, Hope turning to face the larger Werewolf. "Yeah, that's right... I've only been at school for two days and I already heard all about Hope Mikaelson and her sunny disposition,"

Before Hope could say anything, Y/n had stepped in front of her. "I've only been at school for two days and I already want to kill you..." Y/n smiled as he looked at the werewolf.

"What is your problem?" Rafael growled as he glared at the Nogitsune.

Hope was about to say something but once again, she didn't get a chance to. "On your first day, you made Elizabeth cry and now you are acting like a typical..." Y/n paused as he scanned over Rafael for a moment. "Alpha wolf," Y/n spoke sarcastically, using air quotations as he did. "If it wasn't for Lizzie asking me not to... I would have already carved your heart out of your chest,"

Hope felt her body tense as she looked at the familiar expression on the Nogitsune's face, if he wasn't angry and yet this was him then she was starting to slowly understand why Alaric meant Y/n specifically shouldn't engage.

"I'll get this stupid not-stupid knife back and your answers," Rafael looked past Y/n and at Hope as he spoke, his voice lower this time.

"And why should I believe you?"

"Because I don't lie," He answered the Tribrid who just laughed.

"Everybody lies..." Y/n rolled his eyes, this was the second time today that he had heard that and he didn't quite agree with that statement. "He's in the root cellar," Hope added, finally giving in as she motioned to the building not far from them. "You have three minutes to do it your way,"

"But the headmaster said don't engage..."

"Two minutes fifty-nine, two minutes fifty-eight..."

"One hundred and seventy-nine, one hundred and seventy-eight..."

Rafael quickly ran passed to two of them as they each counted down their own way. Hope watched the werewolf disappear before turning to face the Nogitsune. "What was that?" She raised an eyebrow as she watched him shrug. "Don't just shrug... You threatened to carve his heart out..."

"First of all, I didn't threaten anybody," Y/n rolled his eyes before looking at the Tribrid. "I want to it and secondly, why did that shock you? Did you think I was some prince charming or knight in shining armour?" Y/n cocked his head to the side. "I thought Alaric had made it clear that as a Nogitsune... I'm very much the hot, cocky villain of the story," He smirked as he watched Hope roll her eyes.

"Of course you are," Hope smiled as she rolled her eyes. "Let's go," She motioned towards the Cellar.

"It hasn't been three minutes," Y/n shook his head.

"Everybody lies..."

"Whether that is true or not... I agreed to wait and give him three minutes so either I have my answers in three minutes or his heart on a silver platter but I won't be doing anything until after the full one hundred and eighty seconds is up," Y/n shrugged his shoulders once more as Hope rolled her eyes and turned to head over to the cellar.

She stopped for a second and looked back and just like he said, Y/n stayed where he was but now he was leaning against a tree as he stared off into the distance. Hope wasn't sure what game he was playing but she was sure that's all it was, some weird twisted game of cat and mouse, she shook her head as she turned her attention back to the cellar and decided to leave the Nogitsune to do whatever it was a Nogitsune did when left alone.
