Changes

Mamoru woke up the same as he normally did as the sun came through the balcony door in his room but

something felt different. Not bad but different and he couldn't put his finger on it. Through their link that

seemed to grow stronger each time they used telepathy to communicate, he could tell that his princess

was still sleeping soundly and smiled at the image of her sleeping. Getting up he put on his robe and

headed to make himself some coffee as he crossed into the kitchen he stubbed his toe.

Usagi woke up with her toe suddenly hurting for some reason. Sitting up she stretched, 'I must have

kicked the footboard in my sleep. Oh, well at least I am up with plenty of time this morning.' Getting up

she got dressed and headed down to find some breakfast.

Heading to school early hoping to meet up with Mamoru as they had not been able to meet up after the

senshi meeting last night, Usagi slowly made her way down the street following their bond she found

him reading in the park. "Ohayo, Mamo-chan."

"Usako, you are up early. I wasn't expecting you for another half hour or so." Mamoru said getting up

and giving his girlfriend a kiss.

"I don't know I woke up with a sore toe this morning," she said.

Mamoru pulled back at this comment, "A sore toe, almost like you stubbed it?"

Usagi nodded curiously, "Yeah, I must have kicked something in my sleep."

Mamoru shook his head, " Yeah, that must be it." 'Am I going crazy? She couldn't have known I stubbed

my toe this morning, what is going on?'

The couple sat down and Mamoru listened as Usagi told him what had happened after he had left, not

that anyone else knew he had been there in the shadows. The time flew by and the two gave each other

an embrace and kissed good-bye before heading to their respective schools.

Usagi sighed as she listened to Luna update them regarding how they had to find the princess and the

crystal now that the senshi were complete and it was imperative that they protect them. The bell

signaling that lunch was over was a relief to the real Princess. She got up and headed to get ready for

gym class.

'Volleyball, not my best sport but it is better than listening to Luna's ongoing broken record about the

mission,' Usagi thought as she got into place on the court. Then suddenly a volleyball crossed courts and

hit Usagi, knocking her to the floor with a thud. She sat up rubbing the side of her head where the ball

had hit. She got up off the floor and limped over to the bench nursing her side from where it hit the

floor. She sighed as she leaned back against the bench.

Mamoru had been taking notes in biology class when suddenly his head started hurting as if something

had hit him and then his opposite side ached as if he had fallen and hit the ground. He silently moaned

and tried to put his attention back to the teacher but something in the back of his mind just wouldn't let

the mystery go. 'First Usako and the sore toe this morning and now this? Could this be connected? If so,

what could be happening to her at school?' thought the athletically talented high school student. That

was the end of biology for Mamoru that day as he couldn't keep his focus as his mind kept going over all

the possible explanations.

Luna was waiting as the senshi got out of school and Usagi sighed audibly, " Not another meeting," she

whined. "Luna, you took up our lunch break and I have a headache from gym."

"No, Usagi, not a meeting. We are going to go to the temple and train. You all need to be in tip top shape

for the next time the enemy attacks. Plus, Usagi as leader you should be setting an example. Now lets go

and meet Rei." Ami and Makoto obediently followed the black cat. Makoto even seemed happy at the

prospect of training. Usagi hung her head as she slowly dragged her feet behind the trio.

It wasn't until after supper that Usagi was able to lay down and she promptly collapsed on her bed as her

body was sore not just from the fall in gym class but also the hours of training. Usagi fell into a light sleep

only to be awoken as her mother burst in the room and began throwing things out of drawers looking for

something. "Mom?" She asked rubbing her eyes sleepily. "Mom, what are you looking for?"

"I must find it. It must be here somewhere." and with that Ikuko was out of the room without even

acknowledging Usagi.

Usagi got up to find Luna, 'Maybe Luna knows what is going on with mom or what she is looking for.' She

couldn't find Luna but one look out a window told Usagi it wasn't just her mom as it looked like the

whole city was rioting as people were dumping garbage and demanding entry to look for the Silver

Crystal. 'Silver Crystal? They can't mean the Ginzuishou , could they?'

Usagi heard her communicator go off, "Senshi, the whole city has gone mad searching for the Ginzuishou

it seems to be stemming from the TV station. The enemy must be using the satellites to brainwash the

city. Henshi yo and meet at the TV station." The senshi all agreed and headed out.

Usagi was on her way when she started to feel weak and as she was about to fall Mamoru caught her.

"Oh, Mamo-chan."

"Are you ok?" Usagi nodded. "I was headed to join the senshi at the TV station but I am not strong like

Jupiter or smart like Mercury or have a special ability like mars. I am supposed to be the leader and

protect everyone but I am powerless."

"You are not powerless, Usako. You are the strongest of them all and you do have a special ability,"

Mamoru told her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. " You open people's hearts, you see people

for who they really are and bring out the best in them. You make them smile. In my book that makes you

the best one to lead them. My Princess."

Feeling a strength only he could give her, Usagi nodded and transformed and charged into battle arriving

as a vortex opened up above the TV station and a force came out knocking the senshi to the helipad on

the roof of the station. Immobilized by the evil power that emanated from the blood red haired woman

that descended from the vortex with an evil laugh. "I am Queen Beryl, ruler of the dark kingdom and I

command the four kings of the dark kingdom. I have sent them to obtain the Legendary Silver Crystal

and once I have secured it, the Dark kingdom will rise again. Then every human being on earth will

perish."

The depth of Beryl's evil aura paralyzes the senshi where they lay. Sailor Moon could sense their distress

as she arrived, "Sailor Moon, you are too late, your friends lay at my feet, give up and kneel before my

awesome power."

"I am not going to give up. I may not be the best warrior but I am Sailor Moon and I am the leader of the

Sailor Guardians. Moon Stick give me the power, Moon Healing Escalation!" Sailor Moon shouted

sending her new found attack toward Beryl and the general knocking them back and causing them to

retreat.

As Beryl retreated she told Sailor Moon, "Mark my words, you will pay for this."

But Sailor Moon had already left the roof gliding through the night sky healing the citizens of Tokyo with

the Moon Stick, before collapsing into Tuxedo Kamen's arms from exhaustion. He picked her up and

carried her home to his apartment and laid her on his bed to recover as her transformation faded.

"Rest now my Princess, you are safe." Mamoru said tucking her in before adjourning to the living room

and making himself comfortable on the couch. Their souls may be married but he was not going to

dishonor her present self. For now sharing their dreams was enough.

Usagi awoke to the warmth of the sun, looking around the unfamiliar room, "Where am I?"

"That's right," came a familiar voice. "This is the first time you have been to my apartment. How are you

feeling?" Mamoru asked bringing her a cup of tea.

"Better, thank you. What happened?"

"After the battle you healed everyone and collapsed from exhaustion so I brought you here." He

answered before taking a drink from his own mug. "I slept on the couch." He added not wanting her to

think he did anything.

Usagi nodded, getting out of bed, 'Between Rin's car and this place… wow!' "I better go check in with

everyone, they must be worried sick."

Mamoru nodded but pulled her back for a kiss and handed her her school bag that she had dropped the

previous evening. "See you later."
