Note: I am currently writing three stories at once, so I jump around between stories. One second I have an idea and I write it down, then it gives me an idea for the other story.

I find my writing process hilarious. Unorganized yet, doable.

Chapter two:

Yusuke Urameshi

A nose twitch accompanied by the subtle movement of her tail on her lower back, shaking slightly beneath the hoodie she wore. Annoyance and anxiety surged within her like a gathering storm, threatening to erupt as she sat amidst the clamor of the bus en route to the store Genkai had instructed her to visit.

Feeling cooped up after an extended stay at Genkai's place, Usagi had decided to venture out, her destination set on a shopping spree for new painting supplies. While she typically crafted her paint using plants, the desire to explore human stores and acquire a fresh brush, distinct from the one Genkai had given her, motivated her outing. The gifted brush was admirable, but its wear and tear limited its capabilities over time.

Motivated to break out of her usual solitude and explore human interactions, Usagi felt a newfound desire to engage with the human world—a skill Genkai had been diligently training her in, given her lack of knowledge about human customs. Eager to embrace this opportunity, she picked out a pair of flare pants with a strategically placed hole for her tail and a cute top from the stack of clothing Genkai had provided.

However, just as she was about to step out, her excitement was met with a stern scolding from the wise old lady. The lecture focused on the outfit not concealing her demon features, serving as a stark reminder that she was no longer in the demon world. With a mix of sadness and understanding, Usagi reluctantly added an oversized light green hoodie to her ensemble. Although it hid her tail and ears beneath its hood, she found solace in the fact that she could at least keep her beloved flare pants on. The hood annoyed her due to her ears twitching to be free!

The initial excitement that had spurred Usagi to step out slowly waned as she found herself facing the confusing challenge of navigating without the aid of a "phone," as humans commonly referred to their devices for location assistance. The absence of a GPS left her feeling disoriented, and uncertainty crept in.

Upon eventually locating the correct bus, the joy returned briefly, only to be replaced by restlessness as she endured a seemingly endless journey seated inside it for far longer than she had anticipated. The combination of unfamiliar surroundings and the prolonged bus ride tested her newfound enthusiasm.

Which returned us to her current predicament, what Usagi dreaded most at the moment was the overwhelming noise assaulting her senses. Her sensitive ears were being pushed to their limits, and in her opinion, having bunny ears felt like a curse. They twitched at every single noise, picking up on each sound around her. The cries of a baby in the backseat pierced through the air, and a couple not far from her engaged in a heated argument. Yet, the most irksome of all was the incessant chatter from the girl seated beside her, engaged in a conversation with her cousin.

"I can't believe he rejected you like that, Sakura!" exclaimed a girl with long pigtails, expressing her disbelief.

"Right? Like, I'm a sweet girl! I'm the most popular girl, and the most perfectly perfect girl in this world!" Another girl, with long black hair and a beauty mark under her lips, drew the attention of everyone on the bus. Boys ogled at her, while women looked on with envy—everyone except Usagi, who found her voice annoying.

"I agree!"

"Look at me! I'm pretty, unlike some other girls!"

"For sure! You're Japan's beauty standards!"

Usagi was grateful for the bracelet Genkai had given her; it helped conceal her demonic energy. The annoyance she felt towards the girls next to her had reached a whole new level, and she didn't want to inadvertently reveal her true nature. The bracelet provided a necessary layer of protection in situations like these. Funny, since she rarely got mad. The bracelet she wore was a small gold one with a small green jade in the middle.

"I'm skinny like a model, right?!"

"Yeah!"

To Usagi, it just sounded like this girl was seeking validation after being rejected by her crush. However, the bunny girl couldn't summon an ounce of sympathy for her. Her arrogance radiated brightly in that moment, but the people around them seemed unfazed, captivated by her beauty. Pretty privilege for real.

'No wonder whoever he is, rejected you.' Usagi sweat-dropped, her ears attempting to find comfort within the confines of her hood.

"I was so upset that I told my parents I was going to visit my grandma this weekend, but instead, I came here to forget and have some fun," Sakura proudly declared, a statement that elicited envy from the girl beside her. "I'm staying at some college guy's dorm tonight!"

" Oo! An older guy! How did you meet him?"

" Through a dating app, I don't know much about him, but I just need to forget about Shuichi!"

'You're stupid to trust a random guy, especially one way older than you' the bunny girl sneered in her thoughts.

Usagi was officially becoming overstimulated by the noises on the bus and the constant chatter around her. The overwhelming environment made her feel like she was on the verge of exploding. Fortunately, the bus came to a stop, and without caring about the specific location, the bunny girl got off. She preferred walking over being in close proximity to the annoying girl and enduring the persistent cries of the baby in the back.

Once she stepped off the bus, Usagi anxiously approached someone to inquire about the specific store Genkai had recommended, and she quickly obtained directions. Entering the store, the young girl was pleasantly surprised by the array of paints and brushes available. It felt like stepping into a whole new world, and she mustered the courage to ask the store owner about various supplies. The owner happily provided detailed explanations of each item.

After a fruitful shopping spree, Usagi found herself with four bags of art supplies, grateful that Genkai had provided the funds. As a final indulgence, she decided to grab lunch at a small convenience store, discovering a newfound love for human food. She also got to try out 'Pocky'. The treat she bought was incredibly sweet and added another layer to her growing appreciation for human experiences.

Usagi chose a random bench, where she carefully packed a few of the art supplies into her beige backpack, leaving only two bags left in her hands. With everything secured, she readied herself for the journey back, the weight of the bags and the day's experiences beginning to wear on her energy. A growing sense of exhaustion enveloped her as she contemplated the trip back. While she ventured back, she felt a presence behind her, one with spiritual awareness. It made Usagi panic internally.

"Oh no!" she panicked in her head.

"Excuse me," a voice called from behind, a hand gently halting Usagi's progress. The brown-haired bunny recognized that she had been officially discovered; a surge of anxiety prompted her to consider her options.

'Father... grant me a smooth journey to where you are..' Usagi prayed silently, her hands forming a prayer gesture. She turned around to find the person who had touched her, visibly nervous. It turned out to be a teenager with slick black hair clad in a green jacket with orange sleeves and collar, a white t-shirt, and a pair of blue jeans.

"Do you—" He began, but Usagi's anxiety cut him off abruptly.

"Please don't kill me sir!" she cried out, perplexing the onlookers and the young man before her. She did not mean to draw attention to herself, but being overwhelmed and overstimulated by the fear of being discovered sent Usagi into a panic. Further heightening her already suspicious demeanor.

"Wait. What?" he exclaimed in confusion, sizing up the taller older female standing at 5'7 while he stood at 5'4.

"I was just buying art supplies!" Usagi trembled, her fear stemming not only from the potential exposure of her demon identity but also from the realization of how her behavior might have already raised suspicions. Genkai would surely be disappointed in her student's lack of composure.

"Hold on! Calm down. I was just going to ask—" He attempted to soothe her, glancing around nervously as whispers circulated among the surrounding onlookers.

"I'm just chillin." Usagi stammered now in a lower voice, tears welling up in her eyes. The guy she assumed was about to expose her true nature grabbed her and shook her to get her attention.

"Lady! I was just gonna ask for fucking directions!" he shouted, abruptly silencing her.

A pause hung in the air between them, the two now looking at each other awkwardly. The tension seemed to linger, with Usagi's anxiety slowly diminishing as they stared at each other. The bunny girl started to blush harshly in embarrassment, realizing she had made a whole scene for nothing. The guy's expression shifted from annoyance to amusement as he observed her, a small grin playing on his lips.

"Oh," Usagi facepalmed, her blush intensifying, "Where to?" She tried to recover from the awkward encounter by redirecting the conversation, eager to move past the embarrassing moment.

"Glad you calmed down," he said with a slight annoyance.

"I am so sorry," she apologized, looking away with a red face. "Please, God, save me from this embarrassment."

"Too late now," the young man snickered to himself, smirking at the taller girl's red face. "Look, you even turned into a tomato."

"Where are you heading?" She deflected his teasing while shifting uncomfortably. She wanted to forget her random outburst.

" I'm looking for a temple with some lady named Genkai," the black-haired male explained to the older female. Usagi's eyes widened in surprise, realizing that he might be referring to Genkai's temple.

"Oh! Are you here for the tournament?" Usagi asked, making him smile. The tension from their earlier encounter seemed to dissipate as the conversation shifted to a more relaxed topic.

"Yeah! Are you crazy, lady?!" He asked in excitement, teasing her a bit, which made Usagi's eyebrow twitch from the comment. The atmosphere lightened, and the earlier awkwardness had faded by now.

"No, I am not," she said, acknowledging the playful banter, "But I can help you get there, if you'd like."

"Sweet! Thanks!" He smiled at her, and Usagi felt a sense of relief. The initial tension had dissolved, and the guy in front of her seemed easygoing and friendly. Despite her usual reluctance to be social, she found herself comfortable in his company.

"Yusuke Urameshi. What about you, girly?" He introduced himself to the girl he faced, who bowed and smiled at him kindly. 'So bright!' Her radiant smile was enough to dispel the earlier awkwardness. The nervous energy that had surrounded her now transformed into an aura of shyness and sweetness.

Taking a moment to observe her, he couldn't help but notice that she seemed to be a foreigner. The tan hue of her skin, the depth of her brown eyes, and the presence of freckles hinted at a background different from his own. Though her hair was mostly concealed by the hood, her overall demeanor exuded a gentle nature.

It felt familiar.

"Nice to meet you; I am Usagi," she said, bowing to him. "Now, let's start heading towards the temple. It's gonna take some time. Have you eaten anything yet? You look a bit hungry; I can give you some food that I saved up."

She felt motherly— that's what it was. He finally managed to put her in a category.

'This girl reminds me of Kurama in some way, though,' he thought, as her polite manner seemed to echo the kindness of the red-head he met not long ago. Except, Kurama's presence was more menacing; hers was not threatening at all.

He also found it surprising that he felt safe in her presence after just meeting her. It was a rare thing for someone to evoke such a feeling in Yusuke, as he never really experienced genuine respect from others. He was seen as a delinquent, so when she first freaked out, he wasn't that surprised. However, her polite manner now felt genuine, and he couldn't help but feel a warmth. 'This is too weird,' he thought.

But, hey, like Yusuke Urameshi always does, he'll ignore it for now and see where the heck it leads him!

Sides, he'll just beat her up if she tries anything! Equal rights, equal fights!

Yusuke thought with a smirk, deciding that if she tried anything fishy and was fake, he'd just beat her up.

Equal rights, equal fights!

Once they finally arrived at their destination, the two started making their way up, with Yusuke talking and complaining about how unnecessary all these stairs were, and Usagi listened quietly, even agreeing with him.

Yusuke gasped for air as he neared the top of the temple, eliciting a light giggle from Usagi.

"How the fuck are you not tired?" he panted, still catching his breath.

"I've done this multiple times," Usagi smiled, effortlessly continuing her ascent ignoring the young mans foul words. Yusuke observed her climb the remaining stairs, taking a moment to glance at the surroundings, which left him with an odd feeling.

"Now, that's a weird vibe," he mused to himself, adjusting his bag. "Oh well, once I don't get chosen, I'll pretend it doesn't exist." Dismissing the strange sensation, he quickened his pace to catch up with Usagi, who was already at the top.

"Oi woman! Wait for me!" he called out, hastening his steps.

Upon reaching Usagi, she guided him to where the rest of the contestants waited, offering him the best wishes. She needed to go place her things away before watching some of the tournament.

"Here you go, Yusuke," she said, gesturing towards the area where all the contestants were gathered. "Now, I must go. It was very nice to meet you. I wish you the best."

"Thanks, Usagi. You take care," Yusuke replied, offering a wave as she made her exit. The atmosphere among the contestants was buzzing with excitement and tension as they awaited the beginning of the tournament. Yusuke found a spot to observe the competition, eager to see what lay ahead.

Arriving back in her room, Usagi carefully placed all of her art supplies on a table and began organizing them. Reflecting on her first meeting with Yusuke, she cringed at her initial nervous reaction and vowed to keep her composure in the future. Despite acknowledging the drama of her own anxiety, she realized the importance of maintaining a calm demeanor to avoid suspicion from normal humans.

As she unpacked her thoughts, Usagi couldn't help but wonder about Yusuke's spiritual awareness. Could he be the one Genkai had informed her about, working for Koenma? The bracelet, concealing a good amount of her energy, reminded her of its mysterious origins. While she pondered these questions, Usagi continued to organize her drawers, designating spaces for different art supplies. Two drawers were for backup materials, while the third was for the supplies she regularly used.

With a sigh, she examined the bracelet that had proven surprisingly useful. Its ability to conceal her energy fascinated her, and she wondered where Genkai had obtained such a powerful item. Returning to her organizational tasks, Usagi placed non-toxic solvents on a shelf above her desk and carefully stored the non-toxic oil paints she had purchased in a wooden box alongside her natural plant-based paints. Intrigued by the prospect of experimenting with human paints, she looked forward to exploring this new artistic avenue.

Usagi was interrupted by loud yelling emanating from outside her room. Two male voices, full of frustration, echoed from the direction of Genkai's tournament. It was a clear indication that some contestants were not faring well in the first part of the competition.

"Ahhh!!!" The two grown men's screams reached her ears, followed by a resounding crash. Usagi winced, well aware that Genkai had utilized her powers to send the men flying and crashing. The scene brought back memories of the time Genkai had caught her off guard with a surprise attack, a reminder of how truly intimidating the elderly martial artist could be.

Amused by the commotion outside, Usagi couldn't help but shake her head at the familiar display of frustration. She continued organizing her art supplies, occasionally glancing towards the window, where the chaos seemed to be unfolding. The distinct voices of the disgruntled contestants provided a lively backdrop to her quiet room.

As she arranged her paints and brushes, Usagi reflected on the upcoming tournament. It was a peculiar event that had drawn her attention, especially considering Genkai's involvement. She pondered whether Yusuke Urameshi, the teenager she had encountered earlier, would make it far in the competition. The encounter had left an impression on her, making her curious about the young man and his potential.

Usagi, fueled by her growing curiosity, couldn't resist the temptation to witness the ongoing events outside. Quietly making her way out of her room, she skillfully concealed herself from prying eyes, making sure only Genkai was aware of her presence. As she approached the scene of the commotion, the participants were being ushered into a darker room, presumably for the next phase of the competition.

Hidden from view, Usagi observed the unfolding spectacle with eager anticipation. Her keen interest was not solely in the competition itself but in the enigmatic Yusuke Urameshi. She wanted to see firsthand what he was capable of and gauge how far he would progress in the tournament. The prospect of discovering more about this spirited teenager intrigued her, and she was determined to witness every moment of his journey in the spirit world.

"What's wrong with the lights?!" a rough voice shouted, expressing frustration. "I don't like that lady!"

"Yeah, grandma, what do you expect us to fight in the dark," Yusuke's disrespectful remark reached Usagi's ears, causing her to sweat-drop at the audacity of the teenage delinquent. The banter and resistance against Genkai's methods only heightened Usagi's interest in the unfolding events. She continued to observe, hidden from sight, eager to see how the situation would develop.

' Well, this might be fun enough to watch.'
