The answer was yes. Yes Dean would very much hurt him.

Sam came to reach the spot before Dean.

"Look at me Sammy."

And Sam did. With all the strength in his body he lifted his head to look up at his big brother. It was when Sam locked eyes with Dean that he realized 3 things. 1. Yes Dean both could and would hurt him. 2. He had been having nightmares about this moment ever since that fateful night he let Lucifer out of the cage. 3. If Dean tried to killed him now, Sam wasn't gonna stop him.

How he managed to registered all that in that weird space between seconds, Sam would never know but he did and in that same moment he locked eyes with Dean's cold drunk eyes.

A hand surprisingly fast for his brothers drunken state shot out and hit Sam's face in a slap so sharp it forced his head to the side, long hair whipping into his eyes.

Before he knew it Dean was on him.

That was the beginning of one of the worst beatings Sam had ever taken.

Not so much because if the pain or the bones sure to be broken as much as because of the person raining down the blows.

Had it been anyone else, a friend, a monster, John, anyone and Sam would've fought back, just like he always did, just like he always had. But... Dean! How could he fight Dean? Ever since that night in that honeymoon suite... Sam couldn't fight back! He just couldn't. He'd sworn he would never raise his hand to Dean ever again. He's left him broken and bruised once, he would never do that again.

Besides didn't he deserve it? Didn't he deserve every hit, blow and kick? This, all of this was his own doing.

And so for the first time in his life did Sam Winchester not fight back.
