Chapter 29

Heaven Is Waiting

June 1st

Jacob jogged after Fay to catch up with her. He could feel the anger rolling off her, he even saw a shudder run over her body. She was fighting to remained in human form though.

"What? You're not going to phase?" Jacob asked, trying to keep pace with her.

"It's like a 15-minute jog on two legs," Fay said not looking at him.

"That's not the reason," Jacob pointed out. He knew he was poking a bear, or in this case a wolf, with his comments. But he needed her to be thinking straight before they reached Bella. At least one of them needed a brain when talking to the Cullen's and that person was never going to be him. She didn't reply to him. "Fay." He stopped following her. "Please talk."

"I don't want you in my head right now Jacob," she said stopping. She didn't look back at him though.

"Why not?" He asked.

"Because all I can think right now is how badly I want to hit you." She growled.

"Fine, do it. I was an ass. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I over reacted." Jacob held his arms out wide. He watched her go still; her muscles relaxed as she looked to be taking a few large breaths. She slowly turned to him looking calm. She covered the ten feet between them in a second. Jacob was completely unprepared as Fay slammed a fist into his rib cage. He stumbled back a step, more out of surprise then anything. Before he had time to think a second fist was slamming into the side of his face making his head spin. He was slightly more prepared for the second blow and didn't move. She hit him again, and again and again. A dozen hits later on varying parts of his chest, she stood before him again visibly shaking. Her small moment of calm long gone.

She pulled back again, and he prepared himself for another hit. With a broken whimper Fay stumbled backwards landing in the dirt. She shook with sobs but refused to let the tears fall. Her ragged breathing hurt him more than the bruises she left behind. They would be healed quickly, gone in a matter of minutes. But she would still be hurting in a way he couldn't understand. Jacob knelt down in front of Fay cupping her chin in his hand and making her look him in the eyes.

A flash of a memory ran through his mind. A large figure loomed over him an object held up high, yelling words he couldn't understand. The image was gone from his mind faster than it had appeared.

"You reminded me of my father when you yelled at me." She whispered and the realisation of what he had done hit him harder than a thousand fist. Jacob felt physically sick from her words.

"I am so sorry. Fay I didn't think, I didn't mean it." She looked up at him, staring deeply into his eyes.

I know. "But that doesn't undo it." A stray teer slipped down her cheek. Jacob wiped it away with his thumb.

"I don't know how you did it. How you lived through that and somehow still manage to smile. I'm sure you weren't the only one in that room thinking that. I am sorry I overreacted and I'm sorry for putting Bella first. If I do it again just hit me, I'll deserve it." Jacob says brushing the hair from her eyes. She had let it grow out over the past two months and the mess of black had gotten long enough to fall in her eyes now. Jacob stood offering her a hand helping her off the ground. He clung to her hand not letting her go. The two walked in sink the rest of the way to the Swans house. They waited in the tree line behind Bella's house. They could both smell the Cullen and their wolves bristled inside.

After a good ten minutes or more Bella finally emerged from the back door walking in their general direction. She looked around as though she was trying to find someone, and Fay didn't feel it was them she was really looking for. Bella entered the forest a few meters from them, and she jumped a little when she finally spotted them so close.

"Jake, you scared me." Bella said, her shocked expression turning happy at the sight of Jacob.

"Bella," Jacob said in way of greeting, his eyes scanning the woods for the Cullen. Edward appeared to Bella's right. He was fast and it took Fay a moment to remember she was faster. His sweet smell increased and made Fay's stomach flip with unease.

"Mind explaining what it is you two are doing here?" Edward asked his eyes flicking between the pair of shifters.

"Sam wanted me to warn you that if your kind come onto our land again-"

"Wait what?" Bella asked confused. Her eyes jumped to Edward then back to Jacob.

"You didn't tell her?" Jacob asked Edward.

"Just leave it alone Jacob," Edward warned.

"Tell me what?" Bella asked turning on Edward with an annoyed gleam in her eyes.

"Emmet and Paul had a miss understanding, it's nothing to worry about." Edward explained.

"Miss understanding? Sure, let's call it that," Jacob scoffed.

"So, you crossed the border yourself to tell me that?" Edward asked as he tried to ignore Bella's gaze.

"Just wanted to be sure you understand the treaty," Jacob said.

"Sam also wanted to know if you had any tips on how we can catch the red head?" Fay asked Edward.

"If we knew a way, we would have done it by now. We want her dead as much as you do," Edward ensured.

"Okay, well if you think of anything feel free to call," Fay shrugged not sure what to say. Jacob was clinging to her hand for dear life. She could no longer feel her fingers from his grip cutting off circulation. Jacob took a step to leave, and Fay went to follow.

"Jake, can we talk for a moment, alone," Bella asked before Fay could actually take a step. Jacob looked to Fay. His face was blank, and she couldn't tell if he wanted her to say yes or no. But it was Jacob, so Fay knew when it came to Bella, he always wanted to hear her out.

"Fine, go," Fay said ripping her hand from his grip. Bella sent a glare in Fay's direction before walking away with Jacob following.

"We maybe worlds apart you and I. But our situations are much the same." Edward said as the others moved out of human ear shot.

"Do you believe they are right for one another?" Fay whispered to the blood sucker.

"It doesn't matter what I believe. I just want her happy, I think you want the same for him as well. You keep repeating the same thing in your head again and again, regardless of that if they want to be together, they will be." Edward looked like the words pained him, but she could see he truly did love Bella.

He's my imprint.

"I'm not going to say I understand your wolf ways but you're not on his mind just as much as he's on yours. He does love you and wants you to be happy."

"I know. But he also loves her." Fay hated the words as they left her mouth but he had already read them in her mind so what was the difference.

"Graduation!" Jacob shouted making Fay and Edward both rush over to the others.

"You knew this was going to happen," Bella said holding up her hands.

"Not in a month," Jacob yelled. He was shaking all over and way to close to Bella. Fay stepped between them pushing Jacob back from the human girl.

"Jacob let's go," Fay hissed trying to get him to look at her, but his gaze was locked on Bella. He didn't fight against her, but he wasn't going easily.

"You maybe his imprint but you don't control him you know." Fay stopped dead in her tracks. She twisted around slowly to glare down at the human girl. A shiver ran through her at the thought of phasing and ripping that smartass head off her shoulders. She wouldn't hurt Jacob like that or be so stupid as to do it in front of the human's vampire guard. But it was still nice to think about especially when that vampire could read minds.

Keep her in-line.

"Bella that's enough," Edward scolded pulling her backwards. He put himself between her and the two angry looking wolves.

"You were right we shouldn't have come," Jacob growled before spinning and phasing on the fly running back the reservation.

"He doesn't love you. It's just that stupid imprint thing not letting him think straight," Bella huffed, glaring at Fay.

"If Jacob loves you, I'll let him go. Because I love him more than anything in this world. We have known each other all our lives, he helped me through hard times, and I hope I helped him through his hard times as well. Imprint may mean nothing to you Bella but even without it I believe I would love Jacob until the day I die. Nothing you do will change that." Fay looked at Edward feeling sympathy for the cold one.

Good luck may I never have to kill you.

Edward offered her a nod of his head and Fay left before Bella could get any more words out. Phasing, Fay raced to catch up with Jacob.

###Author notes

And so she forgives him again and again and again but sooner or later Fay has to say no to Jacob right? Or maybe each chapter is just another way of Fay forgiving Jacob until he eventually ends up with Bella. That would make for a really bad ending to this story though.

I don't see Fay having much issues with Edward in theory they are both in the same position, in love with someone who loves them but also loves someone else. so hope that conversation didn't seem to out of place.

I am looking over and writing more chapters for this story and others but as always I don't know when I will post again so just hang in there I promise I'm still writing and trying my best to finish theses stories not just for you but me as well. My mind keeps wondering over theses stories and trying to work out how they will one day end. I have new stories as well I want to focus on but will try to have these alsmot finished before posting them.

Love you all.
