Choo Kar Mere Maan Ko, Season 1 E49 (What I Wish Would Happen)
Part 1: Deepa Actually Gets Help From Someone Who Cares About Her And Tells Them the Truth
Deepa crashes into her home. Her uncle and her aunt-in-law are sitting on the couch, chatting carelessly. Deepa's eyes are bloodshot from crying. Her shoes are in tatters, muddy and dirty. So stricken with fear that she doesn't realize that she's reached the family home instead of her house.
Seeing their family member distressed like this, they hurriedly rise in concern.
"What's wrong, Deepa?" says the Uncle.
"Yes, do you need something? What has made you so agitated?" says her Aunt. Her aunt especially hates to see Deepa like this. Deepa is a kind girl who always suffers needlessly. Even now, when she's clearly tense, and she has trouble articulating what's wrong.
She puts her hand over her hand, "Please Deepa. Trust us with this. We, " she says as she looks in the Uncle's direction, "only want to help. You're precious to us. We've benefitted so much just by you being in this home. Please, let us help you now instead."
Hearing these kind words, Deepa's stress abates. She realizes quickly, 'Yes, maybe I should tell her. She's always worried for me, and I need advice. I felt so wronged before, all I wanted to do was storm into our home and speak to Suraj; but...if what Urmi said is true, then...I should prepare.'
Deepa's stomach hurts, and in her inner turmoil, she clutches her stomach; her pride. She believed in Suraj, and his love; but time and time again, he has proved to be a giant disappointment. Now it is not just her who will suffer from pain - but her baby as well. She will not let this happen.
He told her to marry him; sang her praises of love and appeared out of nowhere like some kind of prince. But the reality was different. Once married, Suraj showed his true colors; he knew how much his mother hated Deepa, and yet he didn't even try to quell her hatred of her. Suffering in silence for so long, Deepa was relieved when Labanya Sengupta finally decided to accept her. She felt like all her troubles had vanished. It was especially important to Deepa because she had never had a real mother figure ever since her mother died when she was 10. The heartbreak she suffered when, at 10, she thought that Ratna could become her new mother...those memories were painful, to say the least. And now, in 9 months' time, she was to become a mother herself! It was everything she had ever dreamt of!
Deepa had been through enough pain to realize that something wasn't right. Someone was doing something behind the scenes...but she didn't have enough information. So, drying her eyes of her tears, she regaled her aunt and uncle with her story. She told them about Urmi's words. They were shocked, to say the least.
"That Urmi! I knew she was bad-tempered, but to bully a pregnant woman like this...!" cried the Uncle in anger. "She's a monster! And what's this about Suraj? No, I have known Suraj for so long. He would not abandon you so easily. And if he does," he said decisively, "I will beat the little punk myself!"
Her aunt laughed. "What your Uncle means is, we will help you. Listen, Deepa...You must be so tired, no? All these schemes and plans made against you, honestly, it's so unfair. But Deepa, this family needs someone like you. A honest and kind person like you is someone we don't deserve. And while we knew Urmi was...strange, we didn't know she was so..."
"Miserable. Horrible. Cruel. Disrespectful. A low-class little girl-" he continued.
"Right. I suspect she thinks you are the reason behind her miscarriage. But even so, this is far, even for her. When dinner arrives, we will ambush her. We'll get the truth out of her."
"But her senseless grandmother will chime in anytime we speak," the uncle complained.
"Actually...I have noticed she plays a little...dumb ever since she began staying here. She's usually not so dense," replied Deepa.
"So it was all a lie," the Aunt murmured. "Then, I will take care of her."
"Looks like a plan has been formed," the uncle said cheerily. "How quick was that? Deepa, I hope you will turn to us if you're ever in a problem again," he said kindly.
The aunt turned to her and said, "This family might be strange and dramatic, but that's the price of money. All kinds of beasts emerge from nothing and try their best to trick us. We've all gotten used to it. But you're different. So we should try and protect you."
The uncle agreed, "It's the least we could do. You're our favorite niece-in-law, after all!"
Moved to tears, Deepa let out a weary laugh before the tears streamed down her face. It was no wonder - she was only human, and the last year had really stressed her out. She knew her aunt and uncle were telling the truth.
What was so wrong about getting help? This time, she decided, it was the end.
Of everything.
