Fenrir yawned a bit as he helped himself for breakfast. Hedge had returned to him a few hours after he left for dungeons but she had again disappeared to play with Hedwig.
He noticed both James Potter and Sirius Black were present as representatives of DMLE, for the Triwizard tournament. He had, of course, taken steps to ensure that Iris wouldn't face the backlash of being chosen as the champion, by pushing the ministry to decrease lower age limit to 14. This way only Iris will be chosen as the champion. He was sure, Goblet would judge her more worthy than Cedric, seeing her experience. Thus, not only had he saved Cedric from dying untimely, but also ensured that Iris would receive full support from Hogwarts as her champion.
He noticed the excited murmurings of students, all over the hall and remembered something. He opened the advertisement page of the Daily Prophet and understood the reason. Today was the date Pevrell Brooms Pvt. Ltd. would be launching 4 of its brooms in the market. He had managed to get Team management of Pudlemere Phoenixes to snatch Oliver Wood as keeper, four years earlier than in the past world. The team had been missing a seeker, a chaser and a keeper. He knew that the team didn't have much luck from 1994-1998, the last time around as they were unable to snatch good players to fill the void. Oliver Wood, joining as Keeper, led them to the semi-finals in 1998 league but it wasn't until he joined the team as a seeker in 1999, that the team won their first league in a long time. They had crushed Holyhead Harpies, which Ginny had joined as a chaser, by 440-160. Wood had blocked 20 or so goals and he had finally caught the snitch to lead them to victory.
In this world, Iris played chaser rather than seeker. He had managed to anonymously pressure the school board governors to make sure that even if the Quidditch Cup is shortened into each team playing only one match each with others, they are not cancelled. He had also managed to make sure the scouts of Puddlemere Phoenixes visited the games in Hogwarts. And with how good both Iris and him were on brooms, which was far ahead of their peers, they were sure to be contracted. This will help to make Iris' reputation as something more than Girl-who-lived, or daughter of the best auror, or daughter of the most brilliant witch of her generation. With him as a seeker, Iris as a chaser and Wood as a Keeper, the team was sure to dominate the league for years. The Quidditch fan base would give Iris the perfect reputation and immunity to be a force in politics if she ever wanted.
The Daily Prophet
The Peverell Brooms Pvt. Ltd. had finally launched their brooms in the market in the meeting between shareholders of Puddlemere United now known as Puddlemere Phoenixes.
Mr. Frank Washington, the Executive Manager of Peverell Brooms and Falcon West, the attorney and representative of Peverlls were present with Lord Daniel Greengrass, Lady Lilly and Lord James Potter, Lord Sirius Black, Coach Sheldon James Cavendish, Team Manager Philbert Derevill, Captain of the senior team Jhonny McVoy and captain of the junior team Henery Prangler. The team was gifted with 40 brooms, i.e., 10 sets of newly released brooms. The set contains 4 brooms named after 4 magical creatures- Thestral, Phoenix, Gryffin and Dragon. These are also currently the most expensive professional brooms in the Market, with Dragon, the cheapest costing 400 gallons, double that of the previous Quidditch sensation, the Firebolt. The Gryffin costs 420 gallons, The Phoenix 450 gallons and the Thestral is the most expensive, costing 500 gallons.
We would also like to inform you that Lord Fenrir Ignotus Peverell has bought 36 per cent shares of the team and is currently tied with 36 per cent shares of the coalition of Potter and Black. Lord Feletchy holds 5 per cent, Brian White who holds 3 per cent and 6 per cent is owned by current captain, Jhony McVoy. The rest of the shares are owned by numerous anonymous investors. It was in fact, Lord Peverell who proposed the change of name from Puddlemere United to Puddlemere Phoenixes. It was later found out that Lord Peverell indeed had a Phoenix as his familiar which is incredibly rare as before that, only Albus Dumbledore, who is praised as leader of light, for defeating Dark Lord Grindelwald, had been spotted with a Phoenix familiar. Is it the reason, Lord Peverell proposed the name to be changed? Lord Peverell had been unavailable to answer the question.
We will provide our readers with answers to their questions. Stay with our newspaper and for now, this reporter is out.
The students were excitedly whispering about trying the brooms or getting them for themselves. Unfortunately, it won't be possible for everyone. With the number of safety measures, stability runes and acceleration runes in addition to quality woodwork and self-maintaining bristles, the cheapest of the four brooms was twice as expensive as the Firebolt.
Though he had to give it to Slytherins. None of the other houses knew about the incident that took place last night in the dungeons. Of course, it won't be long before Snape knows about it from a student's mind and reports to Dumbledore. After all, the hospitalisation of 7 students who controlled the flow of Power in Slytherin was not a small deal. Of course, Fenrir wasn't troubled. He knew how to handle the situation without giving much to Dumbledore.
There was a chirp and a trill which distracted everyone from whatever they were doing. In a woosh of black flames, Hedge used the flame teleportation to land herself on Fenrir's shoulder. The trill came from Fawkes who flew around Fenrir and Hedge for a moment before landing on Dumbledore's shoulder. Finally, the beautiful snowy owl landed on Iris' table with a screech.
All the whispers and murmurs about the brooms stopped and were replaced by the gossip about him and Hedge. He discreetly looked at the staff able to find everyone being flagstabbered. He had seen both curiosity and anxiety in Dumbledore's expression, whereas a tightening of features on Snape's. Oops! Looks like Snape saw the incident from last night in someone's head. Fenrir saw him bend and murmur something in Headmaster's ears whose expression was torn between astonishment and Suspicion. He just stood up and sent a mental command to Hedge. She chirped and both disappeared in a whoosh of black flames. As a result, the whispers and murmurs turned into shouts and exclamations.
Fenrir sniffed. Yes, it was going to bring him unwanted attention but no way was he going to hide Hedge away.
--X--
The time of confrontation with the headmaster came when the head of the house, Snape came to him asking him to accompany him to the headmaster's office.
"Mars Bars," Snape said the password as the Gargoyle gave them the way to enter the office.
"Please take a seat, Mr. Peverell. Lemon Drops?"
"No thanks, headmaster" Fenrir replied.
Dumbledore shrugged and popped a few in his mouth. "Tell me Fenrir, how is your experience in Hogwarts until now?"
"Hmm, it's alright. There are both good and bad things. For one the food was delicious and the transfiguration, Charms and Herbology classes were fine. On the other hand, I haven't seen the worst Potions or History of Magic anywhere else. Even my most incompetent tutor was much better than them." Fenrir replied taking a shot at Snape making him bristle with anger.
Before he could retaliate Dumbledore cut in "Professor Snape is one of the best potion masters in the world."
"I am not saying he isn't. A teacher though, he is not. His face looks like he dying slowly due to being among the students. Not a good attitude for a teacher to have. Additionally, he doesn't do anything in class other than write instructions and look ugly. So no he is rather incompetent in teaching the potions." Fenrir stated boldly.
"You should respect your Professor Young Fenrir" Dumbledore chided, which he ignored completely.
"On That note, I have to inform you that I am no longer attending the classes of potions and History of magic." He took out a note from his pocket. It was signed by his guardian, who was in fact, Death. "Here, signed by my guardian. I am pretty sure I would do a much better job than either of them in teaching their subjects."
"Why you brat? Headmaster, I ask you to expel him now. He is worse than Potter used to be." Snape sneered.
"Please, professor. I will have every school in the world trying to make me attend. Whereas, the reason I will give for my expulsion won't harm my name. In this case, the reputation of Hogwarts will go down. On a completely different note, I will ask you to shut your mouth. I have heard something about a death eater eavesdropping and hearing a certain prophecy and running to his master about it. I wonder what Potters would think if they knew about it." Fenrir drawled making both Dumbledore and Snape gasp. Snape's eyes widened in panic and Dumbledore was wondering how Fenrir got the information.
"If that will be all, headmaster!" Fenrir said. Dumbledore could do nothing but nod. He sent a mental command as Hedge appeared on his shoulder in a woosh of flames. Similarly, both Fenrir and Hedge flammed out of Dumbledore's office without even breaching the topic of the incident last night.
