Discovery under the sands:
Sol System
Earth
Old Egypt
Year 128 ME29
Professor James Ralston of the University of London stood on the sand hills overlooking the excavation of the latest series of artifacts from the newest archeological dig site. Located in the sands of Egypt, just fifty-six kilometers from the city of New Cairo. It was one of the latest series of dig sites discovered in this once-overlooked part of the desert. But not anymore, today they will uncover more ruins and hopefully more artifacts so that they can explore the undiscovered history of this once-thriving ancient civilization. These days, archeological dig sites such as these were the big news of the day, for the larger and wider human audience. People who are curious about past civilizations and how they evolved to become the civilization of today. Their curiosity had come at the right time when archeological explorations such as these were on the decline. Before this resurgence in the interest in archeology, most of humanity was content with what they had.
Humanity was at its most incredible heights since the great disaster that forever changed its solar system. Transforming it into something completely new would inspire the old idea of creation and invention that lay dormant within mankind. From the disaster came about a new golden age for humanity. It was a time of endless miracles and the explosion of arts and crafts. The spherical area, starting from the Earth at the center to 3.92 to 3.97 light years, became the largest collection of megastructures in the galaxy even the universe itself. Each megastructure to astronomical engineering project built by mankind became works of art themselves. With each project made came the need for mankind to expand their current interstellar domain. At its peak, mankind controlled an area of roughly sixteen thousand light years from Sol by the start of the 29th millennium. But all that miracles and advancements in technology did not solve all of mankind's problems. And soon these problems had come to rear their ugly head.
In the 26th millennium, a great war occurred. It was called the Sundering, a war that divided mankind into two. During this war, weapons of mass destruction were unleashed without hesitation and impunity. For a time, it would appear that mankind would finally destroy itself due to greed and ambition. If not for the actions of a small group of brave soldiers who ended the war and reunited humanity as one. Following the events of the war, mankind soon entered a new golden age. Now weary of their capabilities and their actions. Humanity had turned to the past for guidance in this newfound era. Greed, ambition, power, wealth, and egotism were the main cause of the war. Therefore, to continue the progress of mankind without having to sacrifice so much of their way of life, current society, and technology. History was studied to the extreme, with the hope to find something to guide humanity to the future. While avoiding the mistakes that led to the Sundering in the first place.
This incentive and cultural shift saw an increase in interest in archeological expeditions and discovery back on old Earth. Ancient societies which exist tens of thousands of years ago were the guiding interest of the late 28th and 29th millennia. As such, numerous government-funded dig sites were launched to understand these once-thriving societies in hopes of gaining more wisdom from these ancient philosophers and ancestors who helped to create the civilization seen today. Professor James Ralston was one of those individuals who found themselves attach to these government-funded dig sites. His presence here today was to uncover a series of hidden ruins found just months ago. Lay waiting to be rediscovered for the rest of humanity to explore. While it has been tens of millennia since it was rediscovered, there was fear that despite being found the long age and the ravages of time could have damaged these ruins to such an extent that nothing could be recovered.
This was a sad fact that most archeologists knew about when interest in archeology was reignited in the mainstream human media and general interest. However, thanks to modern-day reconstruction techniques of the 29th Millennium. Some of that can be restored, recovered, and reconstructed, albeit to a limited extent. Nevertheless, these operations have allowed for an explosion of interest in the past cultures before industrialization. Standing in the searing heat of the Sahara desert overlooking the excavation site was a privilege. A privilege to witness the light shrine on a missing piece of history that was once thought forgotten. Forever, lost in the sands of time until now. Has the professor overlooked the operation to uncover this latest series of ruins, he was filled with anticipation of what could be discovered.
Operations such as these were excruciatingly slow. As the excavation must be handled with care, lest they do more damage to any potential artifacts and ruins which have been decaying via the ravages of time. Nevertheless, all this care could not contain the excitement of the archeologists who were patiently and for some anxiously waiting to see the results of the excavation. One of these was a Ph.D. student, named Daniel Jackson. He was studying to become an archaeologist and is an avid linguist who currently can speak 23 different languages. He came under the mentorship of Professor James Ralston; after the death of his parents Melburn and Claire Jackson, archaeologists who were crushed to death while supervising the placement of a piece of Egyptian art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Following in his parent's footsteps, Daniel Jackson soon entered the field of archeology, with an interest in studying the cultures of the ancient world.
Currently, he was writing his thesis, with a topic about the ancient Egyptian civilization to fulfill his Ph.D. degree. As such, Professor Ralston decided to take young Daniel under his wing to help him with the most recent archaeological excavation in Egypt. Which is something the young student was very grateful for. Now, he is currently with the dig team exploring every artifact unearthed and is now being analyzed. Professor Ralston eyed Daniel as he was down at the site eagerly examining every piece of excavated artifacts with ease. The professor quickly joined him as Daniel was too focused on admiring the objects within his very hands.
"Easy there Daniel," Professor Ralston warned. "You might break something with that endless excitement of yours."
"Sorry professor," Daniel apologies sheepishly. "It's not every day I as a student would get an opportunity like this to be on the field, taking part in such excavation."
"Then you have me as thanks for this opportunity then," the professor said. "Consider this as my way of giving back to the help I received from your parents. They would be proud to see how their son is walking the same path as they once were."
"I hope I make them proud too professor," Daniel admitted. "Although, I'm not sure I will exceed their expectation though."
Professor Ralston laughs. "Haha, don't worry about exceeding their expectation. Just continue doing as you would have done. Only then will the fruits of your labor be realized."
"I'll take your word for it professor," nodded Daniels. "On that note, is it just me, or is there some sort of commotion further down the dig site?"
Daniel referred to the crowd of personnel moving deeper into the dig site, where it was said a massive complex was discovered after an intense ground survey of the area. It was today that the hidden underground complex was scheduled to be fully excavated for full analysis by the archaeological team. Which they were excited to explore and discover. Today, there was anxiety in the air as the archaeological team waited for word of the successful excavation.
"I'm not entirely sure," Professor Ralston admitted. "I guess that they have finally excavated the entire complex." he eyed his colleague Professor Paul Langford who came up to the pair. Panting, which indicated that he ran here from deep within the newly excavated complex.
"So Paul, what's with all the commotion?" asked Professor Ralston. "Did they finally excavate the entire complex yet?"
"They did," replied Professor Langford. "But there is something that you need to see."
"What is it?" Professor Ralston frowned.
"We found something...and we are not sure what it is," he replied. "We need you to come see it for yourself."
"Alright, I will be on my way now," said Professor Ralston.
The professor left with his colleague to the complex. Following behind them was Daniel Jackson who couldn't help but be curious as to what they found. The trio soon entered the complex to see what all the fuss was about. The complex itself was massive and yet it was highly preserved, taking nearly four and a half years to fully excavated the entire area. The initial ground scans gave the initial archeologist a basic idea of the size. But when they began digging it was only then they were dawn on the scale of the complex.
An entire site that was once home to a previously unknown hidden area of ancient Egypt. Archeologists working here had hoped to uncover more about the illusive world of the distant past. As the trio entered deeper into the complex, Daniel Jackson marveled at the walls of the complex. On both sides of the passageway walls, stretching from the bottom to the ceiling rows upon rows of hieroglyphics. All waiting to be fully deciphered, by them. But before he was distracted, he quickly caught up with Professor Ralston and Professor Langford as they continue without bearing the walls a single glimpse.
It didn't take long for the trio to arrive at the main chamber of the complex. Already there was a lot of activity in this area with staff and personnel from D&F Fortunes being present on the scene. Once a small salvaging company based in New Orleans, LA. It was initially called Jameson Marine Inc, working salvage contracts for private clients for independent groups to the rare occasion, for big corporations. But after being brought by famous Archeologist and explorer Nathan Drake, who once worked at the company as a diver for a side job. Using his latest discoveries, as an investment the company is bought by Nate's wife Elena Fisher, who renames it D&F Fortunes. Under Drake and Fisher, the company specializes in legal archaeological expeditions and artifact discovery. Earning big names for themselves in the world of Archeology. Having made numerous discoveries and contributing to the ongoing Era of Archeology of today.
They were present here on an excavation mission to uncover the lost secrets of the ancient world. Being the only company having the equipment to excavate an area on the scale of the complex. Naturally, they were called and a partnership was formed to initiate a joint exploration mission. As the trio entered the main area of the complex, Daniel Jackson notice that the roof of the area had partially collapsed. Which in turn allowed sunlight to go to illuminating the area which revealed an entire section of walls and pillars. Filled with hieroglyphics, but that was not the main attraction that caught their attention.
What caught them was what was at the center of the area. It was here where all the commotion had come from, with workers from D&F Fortunes and other archeologists surrounding the area with what appears to be a pedestal sitting in the middle of the room. And what was more is that these workers were pulling something up and into the pedestal while the archeologist stand watching in awe. It took Daniel a good few minutes to register what he was seeing, and it would appear the same could be said for the two professors. Professor Ralston especially who was dumbfounded at the object now being raised.
"What...the hell... is that?" he asked Professor Langford.
"I was hoping you have an answer for it," said Professor Langford. "Even we have no idea what it is."
Professor Ralston looked back at the object which was now in full view to the people in the room. "I hate to break it to you but. This...ring appears out of place here. Suppose this was in another context. I would have called this a bad prank."
Professor Langford scoffed, "Well, it sure doesn't look like a prank to me."
"I can say this for sure. The Ancient Egyptians can't have built this. It's too advanced and out of place for them," Professor Ralston concluded.
"Then who built it then?" asked Professor Langford.
"I don't know...But that's what we are here to find out then," said Professor Ralston.
"I hope so," replied Professor Langford.
"Hey, a Professor...you need to look at this," Daniel Jackson called out. Attracting the attention of everyone in the room.
"What is it, Daniel?" asked Professor Ralston.
"Take a look at this," Daniel pointed to a pile of rubble, being once a section of the wall that had collapsed in the distant past.
"There is a section here that explains what this chamber was used for," he said.
"Not just what it was used for young one," replied Professor Langford. His attention was now focused on the walls around the chamber.
"It's telling a story!" exclaimed Professor Ralston.
The two professors looked at each other in astonishment at the discovery. It was only here the pair realized something, "What the hell have we come across?" They wondered as they surveyed the chamber and then looked back at the ring's discovery. As it was steadily placed back on its pedestal. Professor Ralston couldn't help but feel the excitement yet unease for what was about to come. But one thing he knew for sure, is that history was forever changed in that very moment from the discovery of this chamber and the start of this expedition. Only time will tell how the ramifications of this discovery will play out. For now, he could do nothing but look on ahead. Because fate demands it.

Seven Years Later
Sol System
Lunar Base
Year 135 ME29
Prime Minister Elizabeth Levy and her staff walked briskly to the meeting room where she is expected to meet with the joint chief of staff of SolForce. The main military, scientific, and exploratory arm of the Solar Government. It has been seven years following the discovery of the Ring. A mysterious alien device, now deemed by many as a form of the transportation system in the form of a wormhole generator or gate. It is currently unknown who built it and why it was placed here on Earth. But the ramification of its discovery had sent ripples across human society.
Already the history books were being rewritten to take account of this discovery. Religious groups were going haywire, and many more consequences were beginning to surface. But for Prime Miniter Elizabeth Levy, today was not a meeting to discuss the ramifications of the device. No, today was the day the device was officially reactivated for the first time in tens of thousands of years. Now, it was inevitable that she will be dealing with the ramification of the reactivation and also the primary pressing concern of First Contact. Meeting the people who had built this Ring and placed it on Earth for unknown reasons they have yet to comprehend.
As she entered the room, she could feel the atmosphere was grim. As Admirals and Generals of Solforce sat patiently and anxiously around the table awaiting her arrival. They all stood up once she had entered the room. The Prime Minister gave a nod signaling them to take their seat. As she sat down, she took a brief gaze around the assembled staff.
Satisfied she began. "Admirals, Generals, it's been seven years since the Ring was found. I hear you have good news for me?"
"That's right Prime Minister," replied major general W. O. West of the SolForce Colonial Guard Lunar sector and head of the newly established Giza project to oversee the study and experiment of the Ring artifact. "It's been seven long years, but I am proud to report that we have successfully reactivated the Ring. Which we shall commence a test of here shortly."
"That is good news general," nodded Prime Minister Levy. "I suspect that you have a plan in place for this first test?"
"Yes, Prime Minister, I shall give you an in-depth presentation. Which will be going over the detail of what is about to happen shortly," said Major General West. "But first a little background. As you all know, seven years ago archaeologists led by Professor James Ralston and Professor Paul Langford, who led a dig expedition in Egypt made a tremendous discovery in the form of discovering the Ring. Our first direct confirmation of intelligent alien life out there in the universe. Almost immediately after the discovery, Project Giza was founded with the explicit goal to learn about the Ring, now dubbed the "Stargate", and those who had built it. It has taken us a while but we have managed to finally figure out how to reactivate it for our use."
A distinct murmur broke out as the generals and admirals debated amongst themselves at the implication of a reactivated alien transportation device. Prime Minister Levy herself was one of those interested in such implications.
"Interesting," she replied. "So general a question?"
"Yes ma'am?"
"With curiosity, how did you reactivate this so-called stargate anyway?" she asked. "I'm sure it must have been quite a task to reactivate something we have yet to understand. Considering that this is a device built by hands that is not of our own."
"And you're right Prime Minister. It did take us a while to understand its mechanism," admitted Major General West. "When we first uncover the Stargate. There was no indication of how it was utilized in the first place. We had an idea based on the strange-looking panel in front of the Stargate's original pedestal. Where it was initially placed, we believed it was here where the original control panel used to control the Stargate was placed. Unfortunately, this control device was regrettably lost. Forcing us to improvise a solution for us to use."
"I am assuming that this improvisation worked General?" inquired Prime Minister Levy.
"Quite so, Prime Minister although, there were a few snags?" said General West.
"A few snags?" she questioned.
"Yes, the first being the lost of Dr. Ernest Littlefield to one such experiment," answered General West. "During one such experiment to create a device to interact with the Stargate. Dr. Ernest Littlefield while testing one such prototype was lost. It happened when he was manually dialing the device created from a reconstruction of what the original dialing device would look like. Unfortunately, it malfunctioned and Ernest Littlefield went through the Gate and was presumably lost. There are theories as to what happened to him exactly ranging from instantaneous disintegration to...well stranded in the middle of nowhere. Both are not great options to consider. But as a result of this fiasco, the project was nearly scrapped. But in the months and years that followed after this disaster. We manage to create a device that would allow us to interact with the gate and that was safe for us to use. Along with new protocol to avoid what happened to Dr. Ernest Littlefield occurring for our personnel."
"I see, and the second issue?" continued Prime Minister Levy.
"How to operate the Stargate itself," explained General West. "Initially when the device used to interact with the Stargate was built. We tested it, however, we came across an unexpected roadblock."
"And what was that Roadblock General?" asked Prime Minister Levy.
"It was the Coordinate system and symbols on the Stargate itself. Initially, we had no clue how it worked. Until, six months ago we had a breakthrew."
"Oh? So how did this breakthrough come about then General?"
"It was thanks to our Egyptologist," replied a female voice. Which caught the attention of everyone in the room.
The Prime Minister turns to the voice in question. "And who might you be?"
"Dr. Catherine Langford at your service," she replied.
Prime Minister Levy mused. "Daughter of the archaeologist Professor Paul Langford I presumed. Your father's work seven years ago has led us to this very moment."
"Yes indeed, he was key instrumental in uncovering the Gate, Prime Minister. However, it was the protege of Professor James Ralston who deciphered how the gate was supposed to be used. A young Ph.D. student by the name of Daniel Jackson."
"A remarkable achievement, so how did it work Doctor?"
"His initial steps of allowing us to use the Stargate came from an artifact excavated from the site. It was an ancient Egyptian Coverstone, a series of tablets often placed over Egyptian tombs, which contained an oval or oblong figure in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs that encloses characters, known as the Cartouche. This Coverstone, in particular, contained a cartouche with the gate coordinates for an undiscovered alien planet which was named Abydos. A name he translated from the Coverstone itself, from whatever these beings call it. Daniel Jackson theorized that another, much larger, Cartouche if discovered, could contain gate coordinates for a huge gate network stretching thousands of planets or moons. Depending on where each of these gates is located across the universe."
"Fascinating, so how does this Cartouche allow, if not tell you how to use the Stargate in question?"
"It requires seven points, Prime Minister, it works completely on the same principle as our wormhole gate technology," Explained Dr. Catherine Langford. "Six points to chart a course through space-time and to lock on to a destination. Or in the case of the aliens, a nearby similar Stargate structure, like how our wormhole technology does it. And a seven final point, the point of origin. Our test with the drone a few days ago confirmed the success of the transit."
"That's great news," Remarked Prime Minister Levy. "And now, for the last piece of concern. What is it General?"
"That would be the extreme reluctance of my colleges to conduct a man expedition and exploration of the world beyond," replied General West. "They fear the implications of First Contact, which is why we waited for you to come and make the final decision."
"Why am I getting the feeling that you all have assumed the aliens on the other side is hostile?" Remarked the Prime Minister. "I mean seriously, for all we know they could be peaceful. I mean come on, isn't it dangerous to assume as such?"
"Yes, it would be dangerous to be assuming that was the case. However, we have evidence to suggest otherwise Prime Minister."
"Evidence? From where exactly?"
"From the ruins from where we first discovered the Stargate," Answered General Brighton of the SolForce Colonial Guard Sector Earth. "The pictures and hieroglyphics were found throughout the walls around the chamber where the Stargate was held. Points to not a pretty picture Prime Minister. To put it simply, these aliens took people from ancient Egypt in the past, to be 'worthy' to serve the gods. However, at some point, the Ancient Egyptians rebelled and called these beings the false gods. They pushed the aliens back to where they came from. Destroyed the device controlling the Stargate and left the gate alone for tens of thousands of years. This narrative by the Ancient Egyptians suggests that these aliens came here, to Earth, for slave labor. This is evidence that what we are dealing with here is a hostile slaving empire controlling an unknown portion of the galaxy."
The room busted into commotion when that revelation was revealed. Prime Minister Elizabeth Levy stared at the man in horror. What was supposed to be a monumental event now turned into a horrifying uncertainty as to what is about to come. If they weren't careful, the Stargate may as well usher them into an Age of Darkness. Even potentially sentencing their race on the path to damnation. The question now focuses on how strong and technologically advanced are these beings in question. And it was a question that Prime Minister Elizabeth Levy wanted to know as soon as possible.
"A question to my General and Admirals," she asked.
"Yes, Prime Minister?" asked Major General West.
"With curiosity, how advanced do you think these aliens could be? With relations to our current technological standing."
"To be frank, Prime Minister. We have no idea," admitted General West. "The Egyptian ruins and accounts left little detail for us to go over. Added to the fact that Stargate itself is not the full view of what their technological capability would be. It is hard to get a gauge on how advanced they are."
"I see," she replied. "That's unfortunate news, General. One that doesn't fill me with confidence."
"Yes, indeed, but, with the evidence we have available now. We could make our assumptions and estimations on their strength Prime Minister," answered General West.
"Oh, so what have your predictions given us?"
"Well," he began. "With the limited evidence from the ruins found in Egypt. We can make some basic assumptions about their basic powers and technological level. We have evidence to suggest two possibilities. Firstly, their initial occupation and conquest of our homeworld was a limited backwater effort by this empire. How do we know? It is a good question. It mainly has to do with the nature of our territories, along with the star systems we have explored in the past tens of thousands of years."
"With interest, how so General?" inquired Prime Minister Levy.
"As you all know, a lot of our colonies are within our sphere of influence, being a sphere with a radius of twenty-nine thousand light years, were once uninhabitable. It took us years if not centuries of effort to terraform and colonized these star systems. As a result, many of these star systems were barely even considered colonies themselves. With their main purpose being outpost and mining stations to supply the necessary raw resources to the Sol system. This is the main reason why many of these colonies have a population barely reaching a billion with two billion being the maximum. With this fact in mind, we have concluded that perhaps after the rebellion the 'slaving empire' found it unimportant or completely infeasible to commit to a reconquest of Earth. Considering that it has been tens of thousands of years since the occupation with no signs of them ever coming back. This hypothesis may be true." explained General West.
"Interesting, and the second theory?"
"It is a bit of a far-out-there theory, I'm afraid Prime Minister," General West admitted. "It involves a bit of a suspension of disbelief to begin."
Prime Minister Levy raised her eyebrows with curiosity. "So how unbelievable of a theory could this be?"
"Well, if one were to consider the possibility of these aliens are just too primitive by our standards to be an interstellar nation. Then the theory goes that the aliens are primitive period. But have advanced wormhole technology."
"But how could something like that occur?" asked the Prime Minister perplexed. "It won't make sense."
"It won't make sense if viewed by our logic yes, Prime Minister," nodded General West. "However, this is a mysterious alien culture we are talking about here. They may think differently than us. As such, there is the possibility that they could be operating on a completely different set of logic that is completely alien to us. But until we know more, we are completely in the dark as to what and how they operate as a society."
"I see," said Prime Minister Levy slowly. "But do you have evidence to back this preposterous claim?"
"Well...It is a yes and a no Prime Minister," said General West. "That is because we have arguments for and counter-arguments against this theory. The argument for this theory. Our evidence hinges upon how easily it was for our ancestors to drive the alien occupation force back through their gate. After all, aliens with 'supposedly' advanced technology, thousands of years ahead of us, somehow found themselves being beaten back by primitives with sticks and spears. That doesn't bold well for such an interstellar power if they were to encounter a hypothetical civilization with a much more advanced infantry technology, such as us for example. Unfortunately, the counter-argument against this theory states that because this planet was a backwater colony. The aliens may have not used their most advanced weaponry against the civilian populace due to a combination of logistics or operational security. We suspect it was both, so, therefore, this evidence gives us a somewhat unreliable picture."
'Of course, it's an understandable perspective, and the next?"
"It has to do with the Stargate itself Prime Minister," continued General West. "From the images, we have uncovered from the walls of the Stargate's chamber. Thanks to the hard work of our archaeologist. The picture on the walls has revealed to us the gate dialing device itself is more primitive than we thought. It consists of a circle with keys and glyphs which can be interacted with to create a dialing sequence for the gate. While this conclusion is not exactly how we expect the device should operate. Considering we don't have the piece in our possession for study. Therefore, we have to make our hypothesis of how it works. But going back, we believe that the way that these keys are placed is to allow people with low skill and intelligence to operate these gates with ease. Being primitive as they are, our ancestors would have been able to operate the gate with little trouble. However, like the first theory before it is contested. We simply do not have any evidence to back these claims up. Which is why we came to you."
"So that I may take this information myself and approve a man-expedition." Prime Minister Levy finished.
"Well yes, that was the idea Prime Minister," nodded General West. "We can't exactly go ahead with a man exploration without your approval of course."
"I see," nodded the Prime Minister slowly.
The room was silent as Prime Minister Levy contemplated what was the best course of action. Now that she has heard everything from the leaders of Project Giza and has been debriefing about the situation.
"So I believe that already a drone was sent across the gate. Is that right?" asked Prime Minister Levy. "Did it tell you where the planet was located?"
Nodding General West replied. "Indeed, the drone was equipped with a Quantum Entanglement beacon to tell us its location. However, it appears the location the drone found itself in. Is...Much closer than we thought?"
Prime Minister Levy frowned. "Oh, so in that case where is this drone then?"
"It's in the Kaliam region," replied Dr. Barbara Shore, a scientist working for Catherine Langford.
"The Kaliam Region?" said PM Levy in shock. "As in the unexplored region just right off the frontier of our space!?"
"Yes, Prime Minister. It appears to be that way," replied Fleet Admiral David J. Terrance of the SolForce Navy. "The planet in which the drone in question found itself. Appears to be a planet just several hundred light years away from our farthest colony in the region. Just only a few weeks of travel via conventional Interspace drive systems. The main concern is that with the planet so close our security and our ability to protect our colony is being called into question."
"Not only that, but Sol Intelligence had also sent a lot of unmanned probes into the region," added Director Myron Faulke of Sol Intelligence. "We were looking for prospective sites for future exploration and colonization of the region. But with the discovery of a potentially hostile alien civilization within the region. Our main concern was on dealing with the countless probes we have sent there."
"Have we lost any of them?" asked Prime Minister Levy with concern.
"Fortunately no," replied Director Faulke. "We are recalling them back now. They should be out of the region by the end of the week. But...If for any reason they were unresponsive, inactive, or god-forbid captured. Then we have protocols to ensure that our technology will not fall into enemy hands. In this case, the self-destruction of the probe via a high-yield nuclear warhead. Enough explosives power to wreck a planet, we can't take any chances."
"Very good director," nodded Prime Minister Levy. "Now gentlemen, the question now remains. Do we or do we not go through with a man expedition? That is the question I want to know and need your input and opinions on."
With hesitation, General West spoke up. "With respect Prime Minister, I believe a man expedition needs a go-ahead."
The Room burst into a cacophony of discussions and shouts.
"Order Order! Can we have an order in the room please?" shouted Prime Minister. "Let this man speak then you can say your points. General, if you would please."
"Right," said the General straightening up. "Prime Minister, with all due respect. We can't ignore this. We have an alien power just right up on our doorstep. It would be foolish to ignore it. We need to conduct a manned expedition to find out more about this civilization. Because right now, we have no idea of their true capabilities and technological level. It would be better if we found them, not they find us."
"As much as I hate to agree, the general's right Prime Minister," added Fleet Admiral Terrance. "We need information as soon as possible."
"But Sol Intelligence can already provide that information without a manned expedition," rebutted Director Faulke. "Our agency can send a stealth ship into the region and to the planet in question and observe. There is no need for a risky expedition."
"But what if you don't find anything?" retorted General West. "After all, you guys sent like what...Tens of thousands of these probes. If so how the hell did your probes miss this Planet then?"
"It could have been overlooked. After all, space is big General, it is really easy to lose track of such a planet with a region so large."
"But what if the aliens are using some kind of cloak system to hide from our sensors?" added General West. "If they do have such cloaking technology. Then it would make sense why we never discovered any signs of advanced civilization in the Kaliam region."
"Which makes it understandable why we didn't find anything," finished Fleet Admiral Terrance. "And a manned expedition may be the only way to truly find out about our elusive aliens. And potentially break their cloak technology."
"But regardless of our theory about the aliens. What I want to know is. What is exactly the plan for this expedition anyways?" said Director Faulke dismissively. "How would this plan go? What will it consist of and who will be leading the expedition?
"The expedition will be a ninety-six-man group consisting of Dr. Daniel Jackson, Dr. Catherine Langford and her team, and SolForce Marine Special Operations Colonel Jack O'Neil and his team, along with other logistics and support personnel," explained General West. "Special Operations Colonel Jack O'Neil will be the leader of the expedition with Dr. Daniel Jackson being the expert on the translation of the alien language, being a derivative of ancient Egyptian. Providing the expedition with the translation of any scripts, and doing the talking, or translating any writing found during the expedition. While Dr. Catherine Langford and her team will be fulfilling the roles of explorers, first-contact specialists, alien archaeologists, etc. Ideally, we want the expedition to go smoothly as possible. As such, if the team ever runs into trouble we have a task force consisting of a battlegroup of about a thousand ships. Will sprint its way to the planet and open up an evacuation to allow as much of the expedition to safety as possible. The Battlegroup will be given explicit permission to use everything at their disposal to combat the aliens. No matter the cost, we can't take any chances if we don't know how strong they are."
"Hmph, sounds fair, so how long would this expedition last?" asked Director Faulke. "If nothing happens of course."
"Ideally, we estimate it could be several months before we can get anything in return," replied General West. "After all, we don't exactly know the state of the Stargate on the other side added to the complication of any potential alien First Contact diplomacy will be needed. With this in mind, it could be months if not several years before we can hear anything from the expedition. Of course, not all contact is lost, there are always scheduled comms check-ins. But if for whatever reason, three comms check-ins are missed. Then the battlegroup will be launched to conduct a search and rescue mission. We have everything planned out director and all possible scenarios have been considered."
"Hmph, I see, but this doesn't ease my worry though," admitted the Director. "There are too many ways this could go wrong."
"I know, but what are the other options?" General West pointed out. "It's either we take the risk or we don't and play it safe."
"In that case why don't we go through with it," a series of gasps echoed throughout the room as all heads turn towards the individual who made that suggestion.
"Prime Minister are you sure about this?" asked Director Faulke skeptically.
Prime Minister Levy gave him a cold and hard look in response. "I am sure director. As he said, we can't ignore the fact that aliens do exist. We are going to eventually come into contact with them. Either through a colony or through an exploration ship. Eventually, contact will be made, so in this case, wouldn't it be better if we meet them rather than they meet us?"
"But Prime Minister, this is..."
"No, she's right, it's better to make contact with them on our terms," said Fleet Admiral Terrance. "The sooner we meet the better. In that way, we can deal with the fallout with minimal cost."
"If so, how long can we get this expedition going then?" asked Director Faulke.
General West thought hard in silence. "We believe in about a month or two just to get the team in and the expedition assembled. As for the launching of the expedition itself. It would need roughly another month to get all the gear in place, supplies ready and the expedition briefed before any actual expedition can be launched."
"Then do it," ordered Prime Minister Levy. "The sooner we get this out of the way the better we can prepare for any fallout that will be heading right at us."
"It will be done Prime Minister," General West nodded.
"Now gentlemen, as you all are aware by now. A new era is upon us. One that we will eventually face one day, it is no secret that First Contact is inevitable. We must be ready to face any challenges that will appear in our way. Make no mistake gentlemen, what we face will be the greatest challenge since the time of the Sundering more than a thousand years ago that shook our history. May we enter a new era of peace and prosperity for the glory of mankind!"
"Glory to Mankind!" saluted the generals, admirals, and staff.
The die was cast. A new Era was approaching and Prime Minister Levy was determined to see mankind pass through it no matter the cost.
...
"This is just in...We are receiving news that a manned expedition will be launched through the newly dubbed Stargate..."
"Consisting of ninety-six brave men and women. They will go to where no man has ever been before..."
"The main target of this expedition will be a planet in the Mysterious Kaliam region..."
"With the revelation of the planet's location Aliens are much closer than we thought..."
"The question many people are asking...Is First Contact inevitable?"

Sol System
Lunar Base
Year 135 ME29
It has been three long months since the expedition was given the go-ahead by Prime Minister Levy with the consent of the Military Staff and parliament. The day was finally here for humanity to once again reach for the stars and meet a previously undiscovered alien civilization. For Dr. Daniel Jackson it was like a dream come true. He wasn't the only one with a similar sentiment. Also joining the Expedition was his mentor Professor James Ralston along with his colleague Professor Paul Langford who also joined just to be with his daughter aiding the expedition with their knowledge of Ancient Egypt. Together they were supported by dozens of teams consisting of scientists, engineers, diplomats, and other first-contact specialists. For security, they had SolForce Marine Special Operations Colonel Jack O'Neil and his team consisting of thirty-six elite highly trained marines. Who's task is ensuring their safety and security for the duration of the expedition. Also to add was a small team which specialized in logistics, etc. Their task was to ensure the logistics and supplies for the expedition. Managing everything from food, water, energy, ammunition, and other consumables. They are also tasked with ensuring the maintenance and functionality of their high-tech 3D printers and the designs of any tools, weapons, and other consumables required to print. A necessary tool for long distant colonies out-of-range of any immediate help or supplies.
All in all, the expedition was prepped and ready to go. As of now, the members of the expedition began their final checks, ensuring all their equipment was in order and making last minutes checks for specialized equipment, etc. It was these final few moments and anticipation of the time for when the expedition will be launched. Dr. Daniel Jackson took a good look around as he saw the members of the expedition in their preparations. On one side, Dr. Catherine Langford was chatting with her father Professor Paul Langford. The topic that is obvious to onlookers was her general concern about her aging father's desire to join the Expedition.
On the other side were Colonel Jack O'Neil and his team going over their checks on weapons, ammunition, and other forms of combat forms and posture. Now and then, the marines would ever so slightly assume their combat stance as if they were in the heat of combat. Without much thought, Dr. Daniel Jackson approached them with the intent of starting a conversation with the team that will ensure their security. As if on instinct the Marines notice the Doctor approaching them, halting whatever they were going at the moment to greet Daniel Jackson.
"Ah, Dr. Daniel Jackson I presumed, what brings you here?" greeted Colonel O'Neil.
"Well um...Just getting to know to people who will be ensuring our security during the expedition," said Daniel to Colonel O'Neil.
"Well, I guess this is a good time to get to know each other. I'm Jack O'Neil by the way, colonel of the Marine Corps Special Operations. This is my team, as you can see only six of the team of thirty-six are currently here at the moment. The rest are just doing their own thing, I can introduce you to the one present here now."
"Sure thing Colonel," replied Daniels. "Introduce me to your men,"
"Alright then, as you can see here on my side is my second in command Lt. Colonel Charles Kawalsky," began O'Neil. "He and I have a history long way back, from we were just rookie recruits undergoing basic training. We served together during the insurgency on Agnus IV. He saved my life many times during the conflict."
Kawalsky gave a hearty laugh at the colonel's description. "Hah, you must be joking colonel, it is you who saved my ass many times on Agnus IV."
"No, it was you I believe," insisted Colonel O'Neil. "I was the one making mistakes back then."
Kawalsky shrugged. "Well, if you want keep downplaying your tactical genius and skill. Be my guess then Colonel. However, do know that you are much smarter than you may think."
Colonel O'Neil sighed in response. "Anyways, sorry about that Doctor, we got sidetracked by our own war stories."
"No, it's fine Colonel," said Daniel shaking his head. "Just carry on as you please."
Exhaling, Colonel O'Neil replied, "Alright then, moving on we have the three gentlemen here checking their weapons and ammunition who are Lt. Louis Ferretti alongside Lt. Freeman and Lt. Porro. All three also served alongside me during the Insurgency on Agnus IV. They were considered the best of the best in our squad during that time. And I'm proud to have them served under my command."
"Aww...That's sweet how you care about us Colonel," laugh Lt. Ferretti. "Makes me want to blush."
"Haha, and they say there is no camaraderie within the Marines," laughed Lt. Freeman who was also joined by Lt. Porro.
As Daniel Jackson watched the exchange he couldn't help but notice one thing the Marines were preparing. It was something that seemed odd to consider in this era and time where humanity has access to advanced technologies at their disposal.
"Are we using chemically powered projectiles?" asked Daniel Jackson looking at the Marines in astonishment. "Especially in this age and Era?"
"That's right doctor," nodded Lt. Freeman. "As strange as it is chemically powered firearms have been around for thousands of years. Hell, they have been used across most of recorded human history. I mean we still use it in the military ever since we went into space. For conventional small arms, you'll be surprised at how effective they still are in this day and age."
"Huh, I always thought the military had energy weapons or something, do they?" asked Daniel Jackson perplexed.
His confusion was well warranted since it was common knowledge among the populace that the police or other security forces had access to handheld energy weaponry. Ranging from many different forms, from pistols to rifle types. These energy weapons have settings that can be set to max-kill or to low-stun or incapacitate. Thus, it was surprising to Daniels that the military was using a much more primitive small-arms weapon system type. As he had thought the police and security forces had access to a much stronger and much greater form of direct energy weaponry for the common soldier and infantry to use. But with this revelation, it was not the case here and he wanted to know why.
"It's a yes and a no, Doctor Jackson," Colonel O'Neil replied instead. "The confusion that you are having is born from a common misconception by the public on the different types of rounds and modifications we utilized for our firearms. Overall, the basic principles of how the firearm works remain the same as it was during the 20th and 21st century. A cartridge either case or caseless variant is filled with propellant and then fitted with a bullet which is then ignited and propelled out of the firearm at high speed. Very simple and very rugged. Because of this, the folks in the military back when humanity was first exploring combat in space realized the full utility, adaptability, and convenience of conventional firearms compared to experimental to prototype energy weapon designs. So they decided to stick with it and began many programs to continuously improve upon the design. What we got was a weapon that has withstood the test of time and adapted to the ever-changing nature of war and combat."
"Intriguing," replied Daniels, "So what about these bullets and special modification then?"
"Ah yes that, so you see doctor, because bullets are fired from a cartridge. We realized that each bullet can be designed differently for different purposes depending on the mission. Hell, this was a concept, created way back during the 20th and 21st centuries! But I think you get the point. Long story short, we have Plasma bullets, Particle bullets, Laser bullets, Armor Piercing bullets, Elemental bullets, Hard-light bullets, etc. But I think you understand this point, the versatility of the different bullet design concepts was insane even at the time. This allowed us to 'cheat' our way into creating effects similar to or semblance to actual direct energy weaponry."Explained Colonel O'Neil.
"I see, that's a very interesting fact," said Daniels.
"Yes indeed," nodded Colonel O'Neil. "It's primitive but yet a highly effective design choice. We are after all looking for a weapon of war, not a weapon in need of terror or policing. Handheld Direct Energy small arms, while sounds nice are not exactly great as you might think."
Daniel Jackson gave the colonel a look of confusion. "How so?"
"Well, for one they are power-hungry devices," explained Colonel O'Neil. "Because of this, they tend to consume power much more quickly than a conventional firearm consumes ammunition in a similar war combat situation. The Simulations we conducted showed that nine out of ten times a DEW weapon was going to go out first. We haven't made the advancement to create a battery source to ensure the weapon can sustain a grueling endurance-based firefight. Moreover, it also requires more complicated maintenance, and logistics for not only power packs but also medium to create the beam of energy which the weapon used to fire a shot. Therefore based on these concerns, the military concluded that we shall return to using something more primitive and more barbaric, something that already has been proven through trials of fire. And thus, conventional firearms remain a part of our military. While DEW's small arms remained in the hands of the police force or security services mainly due to the low-intensity conflict that it was designed to face."
"Okay then, I suppose that makes sense, and the case of Modification then?" asked Daniels.
"Well...the military wanted things to go fast. Therefore, there were many plans and programs geared to find ways to increase the muzzle speed of a bullet for all our conventional primitive small arms. Of course, one of these was the propellant used for the cartridge and weapon. Propellants themselves have come a long way since the 20th and 21st centuries. They have more power than before during that period. Along with a stronger barrel to resist the explosive effects of that power. Nevertheless, there was a limit on how far we could theoretically push it. Therefore, modifications were created and added to increase our relatively 'primitive' weaponry firepower to greater heights never thought possible. The result was a combination of a mix of gunpowder and magnetic accelerators. Using both coilguns and railguns technology to increase the ballistic velocity of a bullet. Thus, allowing us to field greater firepower than ever before. If the magnetic accelerators were to break during combat, well there was always the other option of firing our weaponry without this modification. A great comprised as you might describe it."
"Interesting, but do you think your weaponry is up for our task at hand?" inquired Daniels.
"Well, it's a yes and a no that is what I can tell you Doctor Daniels," Colonel O'Neil admitted. "There are just too many implications and factors to consider about actual combat with real aliens. Hell, we don't even know if our weapons would even work. But what I can tell for sure, is that our weapons have been proven through tens of thousands of years of fire and war along with years of trial and error, working to improve our weapons. Because of this, I can say with some level of confidence that our weapons can and will serve us well. Have a little faith in our technology, Doctor Daniels."
"I'll take your word for it," nodded Daniels, "So moving on, care to introduce me to the rest of the squad present here?"
"Of course, and here we have Corporal Brown and Corporal Reilly, our new rookies who just join our band of elites within the Marines."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Doctor," said Corporal Brown as he shook hands with Dr. Jackson. "Your reputations proceed you, doctor."
"I've been getting that a lot," Daniels replied, "It goes with being the one to figure out how to use the Stargate properly."
"No kidding man," Acknowledges Corporal Reilly, "Damn thing looks so alien that I was thinking it will be years if not centuries before we can figure out how it works."
"Well, I guess you and I could say...We got lucky," said Daniels.
"Damn straight, and now our job is to protect you," nodded Corporal Reilly, "So doc, a question?"
"What is it?"
"Do you think we are going to meet some goddam aliens?" he asked.
Doctor Daniel Jackson gave a hard, but thoughtful look. The expedition had planned for that possibility, but the question that many had was whether were there going to be aliens present on the other side. Daniels, like many, was unsure about this fact. All and All this question had kept many of the researchers and scientists up at night about the uncertainty facing their expedition. But if there was one thing that they can agree upon is that they came to one conclusion. Unless they explore the other side, the alien question wasn't going to be answered anytime soon. Therefore, Daniels gave the Marine the best answer he could come up with.
"I'm going, to be very honest with you. But unless we go onto the other side, we will never know," Daniels replied.
"I see," said Corporal Reilly. "So I guess we just have to prepare for the worse then."
"I'm afraid so Marine," said Daniels.
"Well then, thanks for your insights, doctor," thanked Corporal Reilly.
"No problems," replied Daniels.
At that moment an alarm rang out across the facility.
"Attention...Attention all expedition personnel please report to the gate room immediately!"
"Well I guess the moment of truth is here lads, let's get ready!" said Colonel O'Neil.
"You heard the man, Marines. Let's go!" called out Lt. Louis Ferretti.
As the Marines quickly packed their things, Colonel O'Neil addressed the Doctor.
"Dr. Jackson, I believe it's best you go and rejoin your group," He advised.
"Well then, it's been nice knowing you, colonel," said Doctor Jackson. "I'll see you at the gate room."
After giving him the nod, Doctor Jackson quickly made his way to his room to collect his belongings, tools, equipment, and other items that he planned to take with him for the duration of the expedition. Time was of the essence as he packed his things and got ready to go. He quickly made his way to the gate room with his luggage and bags carrying his essentials. Already, the room was packed full of his fellow members of the expedition along with their luggage and essential equipment just scattered about across the confines of the Gate room. The atmosphere was, as he would describe it, joyfully and tense. After all, today was the day the expedition was to officially begin. The added news team sure added to the tension in the air. Everyone across human space wanted to see the event since it was a momentous event that would change the course of human history forever. As such, many news teams were there ready to document down to the last minute of this historic event.
As Doctor Daniel Jackson stood waiting for the moment of truth. Dr. Catherine Langford, stood up to the podium to deliver a short but brief speech before the expedition was scheduled to head out.
"Ladies and Gentlemen," she began, "It's been seven years since the Stargate was discovered hidden for tens of thousands of years under the sands of Egypt. It's been seven years since our hard work has paid off. It's been seven years since we finally cracked the secrets of how to activate the gate. Today is the day we shall enter through the gate and explore the unknown. To quote an old, but ancient tv series from the 20th and 21st centuries, 'Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before!' Today is the day we embarked on our most important journey for all of mankind. To seek out what we once thought was fiction but is now present in our reality. The search for alien life and alien civilizations is already upon us. Today is the day we shall uncover their secrets and finally bring our species to meet these elusive aliens. Today we make the unknown the known! For the expedition and the Glory to Mankind!"
"Glory to Mankind!" cried out the members of the expedition, morale was high, and the excitement was at its highest.
She was smiling at the crowd before she felt that she was satisfied with their enthusiasm. Dr. Catherine Langford finally gave the long-awaited order. "Open the Gate!"
Immediately at once the room fell into silence as members of the expedition watched the gate in anticipation of the event. The Stargate began its activation sequence, a sequence that was as mesmerizing as the first test they conducted beforehand. For the people watching the event live in the comfort of their homes. It was an incredible scene for these people, as for the first time, the public had their gaze transfixed upon the alien device with curiosity and fascination. Since it was a technology that has been hidden for thousands of years. Yet it was still in perfect condition and could still work without much issue.
As the ring on the Stargate spun, now and then the ring would stop and a began locking in place the symbols on seven of the chevrons located on the Gate. As more and more chevrons were locked in place. The room began to vibrate, literary, from the immense energy generated by the Stargate as it began to form the portal connection between the two gates. Points across dimensions soon coalesce to form a stable connection creating a wormhole allowing for near-instantaneous transportation between two distant points in space. As suddenly as it began, the Stargate erupted, forming a blue water-like surface in between its ring. An explosive effect almost like water being propelled into the air, followed by a deep whirlpool. After this little "show", the Stargate finally settled on a wavey, but smooth surface. Almost like calm water on a lake or swimming pool. At once the crowd cheered as the Gate was finally open and with that the Expedition was finally launched.
Giving the go-ahead, Dr. Catherine Langford signaled to Colonel O'Neil for him and his men to enter first to the other side. Slowly and steadily the team of thirty-six Marines slowly made their way first into the portal. They were using a remotely operated ground drone to enter first before they did. Colonel O'Neil was the first to enter, his body gently slipping through the watery surface of the portal before being followed by Reilly, Porro, Freeman, Brown, Ferretti, and Kawalsky. After confirming the success of the transfer, the rest of the Marines team entered the portal followed by the first vehicles transporting cargo, then the researchers, scientists, diplomats, and archaeologists. Dr. Daniel Jackson was the last to enter the portal. Following behind Dr. Catherine Langford and her father along with his mentor Professor James Ralston. Just before he entered, Dr. Daniel stood in front of the portal gazing intently at the water-like surface with interest.
To him, there was something so intriguing about the Stargate and how it generated its portal. Being careful in his movement, Dr. Daniels brought his hands slowly toward the surface of the portal to feel its surface. It felt almost like water, with a smile Doctor Daniels finally entered the portal. Disappearing to places unknown, little did he know, this expedition would bring about a great change for their species and he will be the vanguard of that change. Only time will tell how this will play out.

Location: Unknown?
Year 135 ME29
Minutes after gate transference
When Dr. Daniel Jackson came to he found himself sitting down on a stone step in an ample dark space, which was illuminated by the lights of flashlights and from the vehicles the expedition had brought along with them. There was also more light as well, which came from the countless flares that were being thrown into the darkness illuminating their surrounding areas. As soon as he exited the portal, the said portal behind him suddenly went out. Its bright water-like surface is now replaced with nothing but a black void in between the rings where it once was. As his eyes adjusted to the dark room, it was only here he realized that they had emerged from a large chamber-like room.
"Hey Doctor, are you alright?" asked a voice.
Daniel Jackson turned to the person in question. It was one of the soldiers he had met just minutes previously, Lt. Louis Ferretti if he recalled.
"I...I am fine,' he stuttered as he tried to stand up. Only to quickly fall to his knees, due to the vertigo inflicted during the wormhole transit.
Lt. Louis Ferretti quickly grabbed Daniel's arm before he could fall further. "Be careful Doctor, you just came out of the transit. We had more than a few stumbling and falls around since the transit. It's advised that you stay and relax until you're ready to move."
"Your advice is noted Lieutenant," said Daniels as he looked around to gauge the overall situation. "How long has it been since transit?"
"According to our clocks...It appears to have been only a minute since transit," replied Lt. Louis Ferretti.
Daniel looked at the Lieutenant in surprise and disbelief. "Only a minute?" he asked.
The Lieutenant nodded in response. "Yes, the physics of wormholes are known to create a direct passage between two points in space and allow travel between such points near-instantaneously regardless of distance. I'm surprised you are even shocked about this fact. Don't we have access to wormhole technology as well?"
"Well, yes, but do remember Lieutenant that until now, this was my first experience with wormhole transit," said Daniel Jackson. "Besides, this is also my first time being out of Sol as well. Thus, my exposure to wormhole transit has been fairly non-existent."
"I see,"
"Anyways, what is the situation right now?" Daniel asked Lt. Louis Ferretti.
Lt. Louis Ferretti gave a hum in thought, "The colonel right now is making sure everyone has made it successfully. Right now, our main priority is getting our bearings. To do that, we need to find an exit to where we are currently."
"Right, so is there anything you would want me to do?" asked Daniel.
"Yes actually," said Lt. Louis Ferretti. "The colonel sent me to meet with you. In a few minutes, we shall send a small team to explore this well-maintained complex. Upon considering the potential for any obstacles, Colonel O'Neil saw it fit to bring you along. After all, you are our leading expert on the alien language and can act as our translator."
"Well then, I'm happy to help. Tell the colonel that I will join him shortly," replied Daniel.
Nodding in response, Lt. Louis Ferretti soon left to inform the colonel. Leaving Daniels alone to ponder his thoughts. It was hard to believe that what he was experiencing was even real. It was almost like a dream. But he could see, feel, and smell, all of which told him that what he was experiencing was indeed real. As his vertigo cleared, he soon got up and made his way to where Colonel O'Neill was currently assembled with his team.
"Ah...Jackson," greeted O'Neil as Doctor Daniel Jackson walked up to them. "It's good to see you, we were just discussing our exploration plan."
"Glad to help," said Daniels, "What's the situation so far?"
"We had a drone scout the area ahead," replied O'Neil. "It came across another chamber which leads towards a doorway with what we believed to be either artificial or natural light. Whether or not it leads to an exit is unknown. Which is why we are planning to check it out."
"Right, lead the way Colonel," nodded Daniels.
"Sure," replied Colonel O'Neil, "Alright people let's pack up and ready to go!"
"Alright you heard the man let's move, people the expedition is counting on us!" said Lt. Louis Ferretti, relaying the orders to the rest of the squad.
Following the tracks of the drone they had sent ahead, the Marine squad consisting of Special Operations Colonel Jack O'Neil, along with Reilly, Porro, Freeman, Brown, Ferretti, Kawalsky, and thirty other's Marines along with Doctor Daniel Jackson quickly scouted ahead. The team began a meticulous process of checking every corner and every pillar for any signs of life or threat. Despite detecting no life signs by the initial scans of their biomonitors. The Marines had to make sure since it was better to be safe than sorry.
As they entered the room with the light. It soon became apparent that it was natural light. Which indicated to Colonel O'Neil and Daniel Jackson following behind the advancing team that an exit was nearby. As the team approaches what appears to be the final room and a doorway to the exit which leads to a desert landscape. Colonel O'Neil gave the order to halt.
"Corporal Brown," Colonel O'Neil called out to the Corporal, "Any signs of radiation or hazardous conditions?"
"None sir," he replied, "Our devices, aren't detecting any signs of potentially hazardous conditions. The area ahead is habitable for human life."
"Alright then, Lt. Reilly, Lt. Kawalsky, take point and secure the area," ordered Colonel O'Neil.
"Yes Sir," they both replied as they quickly took up the position at the exit. After which they quickly went through the exit clearing both sides.
After verifying that the area was safe, the pair signaled to the rest of the squad to follow after them. Right now, Colonel Jack O'Neil and Doctor Daniel Jackson were heading down a large ramp and into the desert and to one of the large dunes to get a vantage point. As arrived at the dune. The pair looked behind them and took in the sights, soon realizing that they had arrived at a pyramid-like structure. The pair could only stare at the structure, in awe and agape, as now they had realized how large it truly was. What interested and excited Daniels more was in the background of the scenery and the sky above the pyramid structure were the silhouettes of three moons. An indication that they were no longer on Lunar, but had arrived in another world, unexplored and waiting for humanity to discover it.
For Daniels, it was like a dream come true. For too long had he spent his time stuck at the Sol System. It was always a secondary dream of his to go out and explore the unknown and see what the galaxy has to offer. But of course, his passion for archaeology put a stop to those dreams until the discovery of the alien Stargate. And now, that discovery was going to fulfill both his passion and his dream.
"Well Colonel," said Daniels, catching the attention of the Colonel. "I guess...we welcome ourselves to the new era of humanity."
"I guess so," replied Colonel O'Neil, as he once again stared at the pyramid structure with awe and uncertainty about the future to come.
Regardless of his thoughts, a new Era was upon them. And With this expedition, the Humans of Earth and Sol would soon enter a new era where countless miracles are made, dreams are built, and an alliance is forged. Creating what will be known as the era of Pax Tau'ri. A golden era, unrivaled since the Alliance of the Four Great Races of the past, and an era of peace and prosperity for all races. All under the guidance and influence of the newly crowned fifth race, the Tau'ri or otherwise known informally as the Human of Sol. They will be the founding member and the center of guidance and teaching in which this era is formed. And it is they who will finally bring an end to millions of years of conflict and united the galaxies under one banner. This is their story and the beginning of how it all started.

A/N:
And so this chapter is done.
Sorry, it took so long. When I initially started writing this story. I had no idea how this story will go and play out initially. But now, I have a set outline of where I want this story to go. It will have at least five to six story arcs.
Here are the names:
- Introduction Arc: (Having Three chapters)
- The Gou'ald/The Galaxy Reclamation/Unification Arc:
- The Ancient/Alteran/Ori Arc: (Longest Story Arc of the series)
- The Pegasus Galaxy Arc: (occurring concurrently as the Ancient Arc)
- The Aschen Confederation Arc: (The Human War Arc)
- The Era of Pax Tau'ri Arc: (Final Conclusion)
- Epilogue:
I am looking forward to telling the story of this AU to you the readers.
Anyways, this chapter is done. Next, we will transition to an epistolary format on the aftermath of the first Stargate Expedition, aka the retelling of the Stargate movie in my version, due to the context of the AU setting. The chapter will be formatted as a transcript of an interview with surviving members of the expedition regarding their encounter with Ra and the disastrous first contact with the Gou'ald Empire. So be on the lookout for the next chapter.
Whenever that arrives, until then, have a nice day.
