When breakfast was finished Tom asked his son another question, "Hadrian, where would you feel most comfortable having your wounds healed?"

"I-my room I suppose, Mr-dad," Hadrian answered.

Tom's jaw almost hit the floor, but he shook himself out of his stupor to answer his son's unasked question. "Very well, Severus has the supplies we'll need ready. He'll meet us in you room," Tom said as he guided his son to his room. When they were there the father requested, "Hadrian, would you please remove your shirt?"

Hadrian kept his eyes fixed his eyes on the floor in front of his eyes as he moved to obey his father's command. Seeing his son trembling in fear, Tom knelt in front of the child. "Hadrian, look at me please," the father pleaded, and slowly tear-filled eyes peaked up at the man. "Hadrian, you have nothing to fear from me. You are not in danger here. I am going to heal your wounds, please trust me."

Hadrian nodded as he whispered, "I trust you, but I'm still a little scared. No one's ever cared. It's a little uncomfortable. I'm sorry."

"Do not apologize, Hadrian. Not to me, not for this. I will simply have to show you that being cared for does not have to be uncomfortable, won't I?" Tom asked with a smile and a wink.

Hadrian giggled a bit much more at ease with the light heartedness his father had inserted in the conversation.

"Alright Hadrian, while Severus grabs the things we'll need, I'm going to clean your injuries. Is that alright?" Tom asked.

"Sure, but may I ask you something?" Hadrian asked softly.

"Of course, you do not need permission to ask a question" Tom answered gently.

"Would you just let me know what you're going to do before you do it?" Hadrian whispered.

"Of course, Hadrian. I'm going to take a wet cloth and clean the wounds. I'm going to start with the laceration on your right shoulder. Is that okay?" Tom asked. When Hadrian nodded, Tom dabbed the cloth he'd summoned and started cleaning the crusted wound on his son's shoulder. Tom could tell from the heat and the inflammation that the wound was infected as were most of the wounds. "I'm going to move to the laceration under this one that spreads over to your ribs, okay, Hadrian?" At that moment, Severus knocked and entered with the supplies they needed. "Severus, I'm working on cleaning Hadrian's wounds. I just finished the one on his right shoulder. Please let him know what you're doing before you do it."

"Of course, Hadrian, I'm going to go over the wounds that Tom cleans with some Murtlap Essence. This will draw out any infection and it will sting at first but then the sting will fade, and the pain should be dulled a bit. Once I have the infection drawn out of the wound, I'm going to use a healing spell that will stitch the wound together. When I'm stitching the wound together, you'll probably feel a bit of an itchy sensation. When the wound is healed, the itching will fade but it will probably be a bit tender to the touch. Is that okay?" Severus asked once he finished the situation.

"Yes, sir," Hadrian answered.

Severus nodded and informed the child, "I'm going to start with the wound on your right shoulder now."

As Severus began soaking the wound with Murtlap Essance, Tom spoke to his child. "Hadrian, I'm going to begin cleaning the laceration above your right hip."

This went on for almost an hour before all the wounds were healed. "Hadrian, there's a soothing balm that I'd like your father to apply over the fresh skin before he bandages them. This will promote healing and it's going to strengthen the skin to prevent scaring. Would you like me to stay and help or would you like to be alone with your father?" Severus asked.

"I-I don't mind, sir," Harry mumbled sleepily.

Tom and Severus exchanged smirks as the child rubbed his tired eyes sitting up to make it easier for his father to bandage the wounds. Tom motioned for Severus to leave them and proceeded to apply the soothing balm. "Hadrian, I know our original plan was to give you a dreamless sleep after lunch and set your bones properly, but you seem pretty exhausted. Would you like me to give you the potion now and we can continue the healing process?" Tom suggested softly as he moved to start bandaging the child's back.

"That would be fine, da'," Hadrian mumbled tiredly.

"Alright, I'll send a Patronus to Severus and have him bring what we'll need. You may lay back for now," Tom said as a silver cougar moved from the room in search of Severus who knocked a few minutes later.

"You may enter, Severus," Tom called cracking a grin as his son yawned so big his face could've been split in half.

"Hello again, how are you feeling, Hadrian?" Severus asked as he set some things up on the bedside table.

"I never imagined I could feel so good. My back hardly hurts at all. It's weird, but I'm sleepy. What's all that?" Hadrian asked motioning to the supplies.

"This is the dreamless sleep potion. As you know we need to break and reset some of your bones that never healed properly. That will all be done with your father and I's magic, but since you'll be kept asleep for a significant period of time, we need these magical binds to act as splints until you awaken and can take the potion to speed the healing of your bones. While you're asleep, I'm also going to reach out with my magic to see if there's anything we can do to heal your lungs. It seems you have asthma induced by many untreated illnesses and injury," Severus explained. Hadrian just nodded compliantly, and Tom reached for the dreamless sleep which he handed to his son. Hadrian was fast asleep within seconds.

"I assume you haven't lost your touch for healing magic, Tom?" Severus asked.

"No, I'll start on his right side and you the left?" Tom offered.

Severus nodded and they expertly began their work letting their magic guide them to areas that needed to be broken so they could be properly aligned before applying the magical splints to the area. As they were nearing the end of their work, Tom asked, "The skelegrow should help his damaged tendons and ligaments grow stronger, correct?"

"Yes, that coupled with proper nutrition should both help the child heal sufficiently though he'll probably never reach his full height because of the abuse," Severus explained.

Once the child's misaligned bones were all splinted properly, Severus extended his healing magic to investigate the state of the boy's lungs. Much of the child's lungs had been damaged by different illnesses, but Severus was able heal and reverse the sort of callous that the child's magic had thrown up to protect him when his lung had been punctured and he took note of many potions that would help clear the lungs of remaining illnesses. He wasn't sure it would be enough to cure the child's asthma, but he'd be damned if he didn't try to get the child as healthy as possible.

"How long will the dreamless sleep last?" Tom asked as Severus stood to take his leave.

"The dreamless sleep will have effect for another hour. Hadrian was very fatigued, however, so I'm not sure how long he will stay asleep or what state he will wake in. I assume you'll be taking lunch here this afternoon?" Severus inquired.

"Yes, please, thank you for everything, Severus."

"You're welcome, Tom. I'll bring lunch up at noon but call me if you need anything before then."
