Chapter 3

Once they're far enough out of the way Virgo pops up and hands Lucy something. Lucy then turns to Laxus but before she can hand him what she has she spots Jellal and yells out to him. Grabbing Laxus's hand she tugs him to follow her over to where Jellal is at.

"Jellal, what are you doing out here? You should be inside celebrating with everyone else."

"I didn't want to intrude on a family affair."

"What are you talking about? You are family."

"What?"

"You heard me. You are family. I didn't talk with the queen to pardon you and your guild for you to not use the freedom given to you."

"Y-you what?"

"You heard me now get in there. If you don't go willingly I'll Lucy Kick you into the building."

"O-okay. I'll see you two later." Jellal says as he walks to the inn.

Laxus wants to comment on her talking to the queen but decides that can wait for another time.

"I believe these belong to you." She hands him the sound pods he gave her when she traveled back in time due to being sucked in the book Memory Days.

He takes them and put them back around her neck and then cups her face with both hands and leans down to give her a kiss just like he did all those years ago. When he pulls back he admits, "I've been wanting to do that again for such a long time."

Lucy blushes "M-me too." Lucy's brain checked out when Laxus kissed her and it went over her head that Laxus wasn't surprised it was her all those years ago.

They didn't know that Jellal witnessed the kiss when he turned around to say something before he walked into the inn. Shaking his head with a smile, 'Well I didn't see that one coming.'

They both sit down on a park bench. Once everything clicked, Lucy turned to look at Laxus, "Wait! What? You knew?" Lucy asks

"Not the whole time since you've joined the guild. In the beginning I was more worried about taking control of it." Laxus looks away with a frown.

Lucy grabs his chin and turns his head so he's looking at her. "You need to forgive yourself for that Laxus. Everyone else already has."

"Thanks Lucille." Laxus says with a smirk.

Lucy smacks him on the chest, "Hey I had to come up with something on the spot. Lucille just happened to be the name I blurted out."

*Flashback*

"Dammit Erza," Lucy grumbles, " I don't know why you think a bunny suit won't be inconspicuous." She stumbles upon the guild while she's wandering around. She looks inside and sees younger versions of her guildmates. 'Awe, they're so cute!' In the middle of her observations of everyone, she is unexpectedly pulled forward.

"A bunny girl!"

Lucy looks down and sees that it's Master pulling her towards the bar and next thing she knows she is being surrounded by a bunch of men. Two she recognizes, Macao and Wakaba.

"C'mon dance for us!" Macao says while waggling his eyebrows.

"Yeah! Show us what you got!" Wakaba says.

They all look at her lecherously.

"Jiji, let the girl go."

'Is that?' Lucy turns her head. 'Oh, my it is, and he looks so different.'

"Ruin my fun why don't you," Makarov pouts.

Laxus just rolls his eyes at him.

Master lets go and before she leaves she looks at Laxus. She knows she has to be very careful with what she says so she acts like she doesn't know who he is. "Thank you umm…?"

"Laxus." He replies to her unasked question. Surprised considering everyone knows he's Makarov Dreyar's grandson.

"Thank you Laxus." Lucy gives him a bright smile and runs out the door.

Laxus catches her scent of strawberries and honey and decides to follow it. For some unknown reason he's drawn to the girl and is intrigued. He finds her sitting on a bench in a park looking as though she's trying to catch her breath.

He walks up to her. "So, you don't know who I am?"

Lucy jumps up clutching her chest and watches Laxus come up to sit next to her. "Holy crap Laxus! Give me a heart attack why don't you!"

"Very rarely I meet someone who doesn't know who I am. And I never did get your name. " Completely ignoring Lucy's freak out.

"Lucille." 'Why in the hell did I blurt out my birth name?' "Well, I do know who you are, but I never knew your name."

Laxus looks at her questioningly.

"I was traveling through Trifecta when you saved the town from a monster. I got a glimpse of you but couldn't stay for long. I had to be somewhere and that set back the traveling time. Not that I was complaining but my father…" Lucy shakes her head. 'Which isn't exactly a lie, I just happened to be 12 at the time.' Lucy thinks to herself.

"So, you don't know Master Makarov of Fairy Tail is my grandfather?"

"Who's he?"

"He was the short guy that pulled you up to the bar."

"What? You're related to that pervert?" Which is the same thought she had when she learned Laxus is Master's grandson.

"You know, you lied to me. You did know I was the geezer's grandson. Also, did you really travel through Trifecta or did you just hear the story?" Laxus accuses Lucy but with humor in his voice.

"Twelve-year old me was there when you defeated that monster. I got lucky that it happened before I time traveled, and I actually never knew who you were or that you two were related until you were banished from the guild."

"Huh. Well, defeating that monster was about two months before I met you. Well, you from the future. What were you doing passing through Trifecta?"

"….." Lucy remains silent and Laxus takes that as 'let's just get back to the flashback.'

Laxus laughs, something he hasn't done in a long time. Even though it's nice to meet someone who doesn't know he's the grandson of Master Makarov Dreyar of Fairy Tail, one of the Ten Wizard Saints, he's not sure how to feel about someone knowing him as the grandson of a pervert. He decides to just brush that thought off and go back to her tone of voice when she mentioned her father. It sounds as if they don't have a good relationship which is something he can relate to.

"You sounded bitter when you mentioned your father. Don't get along?"

"That's a long story."

"We have time, unless you have somewhere to be."

Lucy remembers that there's a clock in the park and turns to look at it. "Crap, I got to find my friends!"

"What do they look like? I could help you." Laxus wants to spend more time with Lucille.

"Hard to explain."

"How hard is it to explain what people look like?"

"Well, uhhh…." 'Should I tell him how I got here? It's been nice getting to know Laxus. At least this one. Screw it.' "Do you happen to think it is possible to travel back in time?"

"Like Back To The Future?"

"Good movie and yes like that. Just without the Delorean."

"I suppose, are you telling me you're from the future?" Laxus doesn't know if he really believes her or not but so far she hasn't been bad company.

"Y-y-yes?"

"Do you know who I am in the future?"

"Not really."

"What do you mean?"

"Look, I really need to go find them. I can screw up the timeline if I reveal too much."

"I'll still help you, but can you at least tell me if we meet?" 'Please say yes.'

"Yes." She doesn't elaborate any further. 'I really hope that I can avoid Laxus seeing the others.' Lucy decides to change the topic to a safer one as they begin walking. "So, what music do you listen to?" She points to his sound pods.

"I found it hard to believe a girl in a bunny suit likes some of the same music as me."

"Looks can be deceiving."

Laxus laughs and grabs Lucy's hand. "Yes they can be."

"Well at the moment Bullet with Butterfly Wings is playing."

"The Smashing Pumpkins! I enjoy that band. Today is one of my favorites by them."

"There's also Nirvana,-"

"Did you know Dave Grohl, the drummer for Nirvana, is the lead singer in the band Foo Fighters?"

"Is that what he went on to do after all that stuff happened?"

"Crap, yeah. I didn't mean to spoil that."

"It's alright. I'll check them out when they start dropping albums."

"They're all really good."

"How about older bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Boston, Styx?"

"I never listened to Pink Floyd that much, same with Boston but Peace of Mind and More Than A Feeling are a couple of my favorite songs. A big fan of Led Zeppelin and Come Sail Away by Styx is a song I have fun playing on the piano."

"Well damn." Laxus doesn't know how to respond to all of that.

"So-" before Lucy could ask what his favorite songs are she's cut off by the sound of hooves. Approaching them is a runaway carriage. A man running behind it shouts that there's someone inside it. They both take off after it and Laxus is surprised that Lucy can keep up with him running but he gets to the carriage first and while he holds on to the pole he reaches out to grab Lucy's hand and pulls her up. He helps boost Lucy on top of the carriage so she can get to the front and unbuckle the straps tied to horses and can't help but get a good feel of her butt. "Laxus!" Lucy screams at him. He pays it no mind and watches Lucy accomplish what she was set out to do. As Laxus realizes that they work well together, don't even have to tell the other what to do, they both hear a girl yell, "help me!"

Once the carriage comes to a stop, he jumps down from the carriage and walks around to Lucy. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. How about you back there? Are you alright?" Lucy asks the little girl.

"Yeah, I'm okay." The little girl says with a bit of a whimper.

Laxus looks at Lucy, "You're not going to ask how I'm doing?"

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Hey little girl. What are you doing out at this hour?" Laxus stays out of her sight. He's not sure if helping this future woman will change anything so he plays it safe.

"I… uh… well.. um.. papa's.."

"I get it. When I was younger, I would go to my father's work. I was being trained-" Lucy gets cut off.

"You too! Oh, I'm sorry."

"It's alright."

In the distance screaming can be heard. Lucy and Laxus see people running that way. Lucy waves to the little girl before she leaves. She then grabs Laxus by the hand and run and run until they got far enough away, and Lucy has to slow down.

Lucy hears Gray calling for Lucy.

"Stay here a minute."

"What?" He hears a guy yelling for Lucy. Laxus hopes that the guy's not her boyfriend and the thought makes him jealous.

Lucy runs up ahead and sees Gray.

"Hey! We've been looking for you." Gray says.

"I'll be right back just give me a moment." 'Thank goodness he's in a disguise. Laxus shouldn't be able to recognize him.'

"We got to get going."

"Just wait right there, I'll be right back."

"Alright but hurry."

She runs back to Laxus "I got to go."

"When will I see you again?"

"I don't know but I got to get going. Goodbye Laxus and thank you!"

When she turns to run off Laxus grabs Lucy by the wrist, pulls her into him, cups her cheeks and he kisses her. A deep kiss conveying his feelings. When he pulls back they both blush a deep red.

"U-uh, here." Laxus takes his sound pods off and puts them around Lucy's neck. "Promise me you'll give those back to me the next time we see each other."

"I can't promise that Laxus."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't know if I will," Lucy realizes she has to try not to let on that she's joined the guild.

"But you said we meet?"

"Yes, but it was only for a brief moment," Lucy thinks back to how different this Laxus is compared to the one back in her time, "and I heard from a friend that you were sent on a mission to find something and there's no telling when you'll return."

Laxus wants her to elaborate more but knows she has to leave, "Hang on to them anyways. Even if it's years until we next see each other give those back."

"Okay. Bye Laxus."

"Bye Lucille."

He hears a woman telling them there's no time they have to find the other two. He follows them and sees Lucy catch up with her other friends who all have a familiar scent but can't place it since there's so many of them. They pile on top of each other and Laxus watches a light swallow them up.

*Flashback Ends*

"You know, you stole my first kiss back then." Lucy says shyly.

"And I gave you mine." He can't help but blush when he admits this.

"What? No way!"

"Yeah, I was really nervous and wasn't sure when I'd see you again, so I said fuck it and kissed you."

"It was a really great first kiss."

Laxus chuckles. "Yes it was. I now know what you meant by being sent on a mission to find something. I was sent to find myself…"

"Yeah… "

"Anyways, after we came back from that time skip I had a feeling it was you. You looked and smelled, yes I know that sounds creepy, just like that girl I met all those years ago. But what really confirmed it for me was when Gajeel had you dress up in a bunny suit when Team B was able to Punish Team A after the games."

"It took a bunny suit for you to realize it was me?"

"It took a bunny suit to confirm it was you."

"I'm sorry it took me so long to give those back to you. I really wanted to but-"

"We were either on a job at different times or there was a shit storm going on."

"Yeah… and the year the guild was disbanded… I just didn't think that was a good time."

"But what about the year after the war with Alvarez? Why didn't you give me them back then?"

"It was a busy year." She tells him about talking with the queen about getting the Konzern back to turn it into an orphanage and a school for mages and about pardoning Crime Sorciere. She also tells him about the book tour. "And I won't lie. When I was in different towns during the book tour I did have a few dates. They never got a second date though. If it wasn't Erza and the guys scaring them off, it was not having a desire to go on a second date. They only wanted to date me because I'm Lucy of Fairy Tail, the Celestial Goddess." Lucy mumbles, "I don't even know how I got that nickname." She continues on, "or they found out I was the former Heartfilia heiress. The fortune may be gone but the prestige behind the name is still there. A couple just wanted something I wasn't willing to give, just another notch on their belt..." Lucy says looking down at their entwined hands.

Laxus makes a mental note to thank Team Natsu for scaring the guys off. He tries really hard not to get pissed about the guys she dated. Well, tried to date. It's not that she tried to date and not go to him to give him a chance, he could have approached her, it's that the guys had the audacity to treat her that way. He also looks at their entwined hands.

"I really would like to hear more of what you said to Queen Hisui to pardon Crime Sorciere. You actually have a lot of stories to tell me about that I would love to hear."

"A lot of them are in the book I wrote, it's based off of all my adventures." Lucy says with a little giggle.

"Second-hand information and I would much rather hear it from you then read about it."

"Okay.." Lucy says and while she's happy that he wants to sit down and talk with her about her adventures, she can't help but think he's upset about her dating other guys.

It's very silent until Laxus grips her hand, "I know how you feel."

"What about?" Lucy looks up at him and he's looking at her with some emotion she can't identify in his eyes.

"About someone only wanting you for your name and status. You know for a long time I was only known as Laxus Dreyar, grandson of Makarov Dreyar, the master of Fairy Tail and a Wizard Saint." Lucy nods. Laxus sighs, "Even after I made a name for myself, Laxus of Fairy Tail, the Thunder God I was still compared to him. But you know as well as I do that it's inevitable, no matter what you do, you'll always be linked to your heritage. You know what it's like to try to show the world who you are as an individual and not who you are because of the people you're related to."

"That's why when I joined Fairy Tail I never wanted anyone to know who I was. Lucky Lucy Heartfilia heiress to the Heartfilia fortune. The richest family underneath the royals. I left that life because it just wasn't for me. I wasn't good for anything other than being a bargaining chip for my father to set up an arranged marriage that would help his business, become richer and expand our land. When I was traveling through Trifecta, I was on my way to meet one of my suitors."

If Laxus recalls correctly that's why Phantom Lord attacked Fairy Tail. They were hired by her father to take her back home. "That's another thing, if you think about it, our childhoods damn near mirror each others. Our mothers died when we were young and left with shitty fathers that treated us like shit. Yours did at least love your mother and eventually got his act together. I can't say the same for mine. I honestly don't even remember my mom." Then something occurs to him, "Wait you were 12 then. Why was he having you meet suitors at a young age?"

"That's just how it is in high society. If he matched me up with anyone, I wouldn't have been married to the person until I was 16. He finally settled on someone, a pudgy short pervy man three times my age. I ran away before everything could be finalized."

"You were 17 when you made it to Fairy Tail."

"I ran away a couple days before I turned 16 and spent a year traveling before I made my way to Fairy Tail." Lucy sighs, "pretty deep conversation we're having here."

"Yeah, I think this is the most I've ever talked with anyone. May I ask you a question?"

"Of course."

"What would your mother have thought about the arranged marriage?"

Lucy's quiet and when she doesn't answer Laxus apologizes, "I'm sorry if that's a touchy subj-"

Lucy cuts him off, "my mother never wanted that for me. She wanted me to find love just like her and father regardless of his status."

Laxus gulps and gathers up his nerves, "well, umm… you found it here."

"Wh-What? What are you talking about Laxus?"

He turns his body and grabs both of her hands. Lucy follows his lead and turns her body towards his.

"I love you Lucy. I have for awhile now. I didn't realize it though until I along with others saved you, the rest of Team Natsu and gramps in Alakitasia. I didn't let it show but Mavis I was so fucking scared. And before we got invaded I debated on whether or not to approach you first instead of waiting. We didn't know what was going to happen and I was still sick from the bane particles. I didn't want something to happen before I got the chance to tell you I love you. Freed talked me down though. He reminded me that you're a perfectly capable mage and if anything, it would just end up being a distraction. We would be too worried, more than we were, about what was going on with the other. I knew he was right, and I had to have faith-"

Lucy cuts him off with a kiss. She breaks it and pulls herself back far enough away so she can look into Laxus's eyes. "I love you too Laxus."

"Really?"

"Yeah I really do. I realized it when you put your life on the line inhaling the bane particles. I hoped and prayed that you would come back to us. To me."

Laxus smiles and wraps his arms around Lucy and pulls her onto his lap. She wraps her arms around his neck, and they kiss again, with Laxus tilting his head to deepen the kiss. His hands eventually snake down to grab her ass.

Lucy breaks off the kiss and squeaks, "LAXUS!"

Laxus chuckles and places his forehead on Lucy's, "sorry, I couldn't help it."

Lucy clears her throat, "I do have to admit to something."

"Oh? And what would that be?"

"That not only are you my first kiss, but I've only ever kissed you."

"I'm really happy to hear that." 'which would mean she hasn't done anything else, so I'll be her first for everything.'

"You're happy about my inexperience?"

"Well, yeah. Mavis this is going to sound sappy…. It makes me feel special that I'll be all of your firsts."

"Aren't you getting ahead of yourself?"

"Well first things first. Will you Lucy, the Celestial Goddess be my girlfriend?"

Lucy can't help but feel giddy. To her knowledge he has never had a girlfriend so she's his first. "Yeah, I would really like that, Laxus the Thunder God." She leans into him, and they kiss deeply again.

He then pulls away to look in her eyes and asks, "I don't mean to kill the mood, but I heard something happened to Aquarius."

Lucy opens and closes her mouth not sure what to say to that until she finally decides. "That's umm… something I should tell the whole guild. Only my team knows what happened. How did you hear about it?"

"Don't worry about it." Laxus then lifts her up and places her on the ground. He grabs her hand and leads her back to the inn. They make it to the door but before they enter Laxus turns to Lucy, "I want to give you a heads up that Gramps will have his doubts."

"What?" Then she remembers he's a dragon slayer who has more than likely heard a lot of what was being said, just never let on to it.

When they enter Lucy hears Jellal "That still doesn't answer my question about Makarov not liking the idea of Laxus and Lucy dating."

A/N: You will learn how Lucy got into Classic Rock. Maybe even other songs she knows on the piano. Who knows. But remember, all in due time

If you've never heard the song Come Sail Away by Styx you should listen to it. Peace Of Mind by Boston is also a good one. I personally feel Lucy can relate to it.

Warning: Heads up to anyone who hasn't made it to the Tartaros Arc. Lucy's experience during the Tartaros battle is in the next chapter. I want to give a warning because it was 2 years ago I finished watching Fairy Tail (I bought the manga after) and I know there's still people discovering it and I don't want it ruined for you. It's happened to me and I personally don't care if I ruin it for myself. Thankfully it wasn't major things that had happened. I can try to do a recap and put it in chapter 5 if need be.
