Chapter 2

The different array of music greeted the Winchester siblings as they walked into the music store. They easily spotted their man as he was alone in front gently placing vinyl records into their display case.

"Craig Thursten?" Dean asked making the young man turn and swallow before nodding. "We're students in the journalism class, and we heard you found a killer house just outside of town is that right?"

Craig's face paled as he was approached by the three before smiling awkwardly. "Yeah...I did." he swallowed hard as he tried to quickly change the subject. "You know I'm somewhat of a journalist myself."

"Yeah I can see you being big." Dean said fingering through the vinyl selection before turning and looking at Craig. "So what can you tell us about that house?"

Craig's face went pale as he nervously licked his lips. "It was Melicah Murdock's family home during the depression." Craig kept working, keeping an eye on the three that looked around at the merchandise. "Well, because food was scarce he didn't want his daughters to suffer so he strung them up one after the other then killed himself."

"What about the young woman you saw in there?" Christina asked giving Craig a flirtatious smile to make him comfortable.

Craig gave a sideways smile and blushed slightly at the attention. "Well, she was just there." He said looking only at Christina making Dean take a step closer to separate his sister and Craig. "So we called the police but she was gone when they arrived. The troubling thing is, she looked like she was freshly killed too."

"Well, we'll be sure to write a nice article for our class," Dean said grabbing a few vinyl's from the bin and smiled. "So may I buy these please?"

As Dean drove out of town, Sam was looking on his palm pilot to see what else he could find out about the house, while Christina looked over the notes they had taken from interviewing the kids.

"Anything worth reporting you two?" Dean asked glancing at them while he drove.

"Nothing new to report." Sam said shutting off the device and sliding it into his jacket. "Might need to head to the library to see if I can find anything on this Melicah guy."

"I've found nothing odd about the notes," Christina said setting the notes down on the seat. "Besides the small discrepancies there's nothing that made me believe there was anything to indicate they know what was going on in that house."

"Well, then it's a good thing I already made plans on going there and checking." Dean said pulling to a small house that seemed to crumble just by looking at it. The three slowly exited the car and started towards the house.

Sam pulled out his EMF detector and turned it on. Almost instantly the soft whirl filled the empty air. "It jumped to seven point five." He said showing his brother and sister.

Dean looked around and gently took the instrument away from his brother and walked a few feet towards the house before coming back and heading to a power pole near them. "Nothing's from the house but the power pole there is what is giving off the levels."

Christina looked over at the tall weeds that surrounded the house. "Guys I think we're being watched." She said turning to see her brothers already heading inside the house. She rolled her eyes and quickly raced after them bumping into Dean's back as he had stopped suddenly inside the door. "Sorry." She mumbled when he turned and looked at her with narrow annoyed eyes.

Dean saw her take a step back lowering her head and waited for him to enter the room before she quickly moved passed as if she was afraid of him striking at her. He knew he was going to have to ask her about that once this was over but when he looked around at the walls he shoved his concern back into his mind. "Looks like Melicah was bit of a tagger in his days." He said pointing to the different symbols over the peeling walls.

"Seems after his time too." Sam pointed out walking to some of the other walls. "This symbol for sulfur hadn't been used since the 1960s.

"This is why you will never get laid." Dean said looking over at the symbols closely. "Not a lot of girls like the Brainiac to sleep with."

"Actually girls prefer the brains in bed." Christina said standing in the middle of the room to gather all the different symbols. "But that's what I hear in the ladies' restrooms." She smiled when Dean turned to look at her before turning away and focusing on one particular symbol on the wall. Christina turned and smiled at Sam who gave her a silent thumbs up before all three of them heard movement coming from the next room over.

"Get behind me." Sam said gently prodding Christina to move to the back making her turn off her flashlight as a precaution. Sam walked a few steps behind Dean and silently raised his gun once they got to the door that separated the next room.

Dean glanced back at his siblings for a second to see that Sam was ready before he kicked open the door and stepped inside followed closely by Sam both of them had their guns raised. Two sets of high pitched screams made Christina look around her brother to find two regular people, wearing headgears and looking like a couple of Ghostbuster rejects.

"They're just humans." One of them said, his face covered in a red beard making him look like a five seven leprechaun.

"What are you doing here?" The other asked pushing the head gear and stared at Christina. "Oh, if you were a Ghost I wouldn't mind you haunting me."

"But we'll hate for you haunting her." Dean growled threateningly. "What are you two doing here?"

"We asked first, Rambo." The Leprechaun said trying to act tough but all three could hear his voice quivering.

"Look we're wanting to look into the ghost that lives here." Christina said quickly only giving a little half truth. "Are you here for the same reason?" She battered her eyes and the two men made swooning sounds.

"Well, yes little lady." The one with the head gear said with a grin. "You see we're professionals. This house has a lot of history and when we heard about the attack we came to investigate. That's when we found the massive spike on our EMF readers."

"What's EMF?" Dean asked even though he knew exactly what the two were talking about.

"It's Electronic Magnetic Field." The Leprechaun said sounding smug. "This whole area is just filled with a high reading, so there's definitely a high spirit at this house."

"Wow," Dean and Sam both said at the same time trying their hardest not to laugh and shake at the two. "But we're here too. So we'll leave you alone."

"No problem." The one with the headgear said smiling and winking at Christina. The two wannabe hunters slowly left the room allowing the Winchesters to quietly go through the door that the two were standing in front of before.

The room was cooler and judging by the mason jars that held some kind of questionable liquid.

"Hey, Sam," Dean said picking it up and smiling smugly. "I dare you to drink this."

Sam turned his head and scowled annoyed at his older brother. "What am I, Dean? Twelve?" Sam said annoyed making Dean chuckle while Christina walked down to a small root cellar door and looked inside. "Find anything?" Sam asked seeing as Christina turned around and headed back towards them.

"No," Christina said glancing over her shoulder as before speeding her walk towards the stairs they had walked down. "But something sure feels like something is indeed here but not...in the sense of I know what it should be."

Sam and Dean looked at each other in confusion. They could see that Christina's face was confused as to what she said before a bottle was dropped near the cellar door causing all three to turn and stare at the now broken jar on the floor.

Dean acted instinctively pulling Christina by the arm and pushing her so she was now behind the two. They all stared at the cellar while inching their way backwards ready to run if they needed to. Dean pulled his pistol out and raised it knowing that most spirits react poorly towards the iron bullets that he had inside. He took a step towards the cellar door his weapon raised ready to fire when a shadow materialized out of nowhere.

The figure stood at at least six foot three and had broad strong shoulders. The hat the figure wore was an old sun bleached hat that seemed to have been rotting as he stood there. The figure let out a scream of anger and took a step inside the basement and the Winchesters got a better look at him. The man's face was gray and pulled tightly on his skull making him look like someone who had overused Botox to make him look younger.

Sam and Dean quickly started to fire their weapons while nudging their sister to run up the stairs. After a few rounds of bullets Sam and Dean were both surprised to see that the creature was still lumbering towards them knocking down jars off of shelves forcing the two hunters to retreat up the stairs after their sister. They slammed the door closed and rushed into the livingroom all three crashing into the two nerds from earlier.

"What the hell?!" One of them screamed while the Winchesters quickly climbed to their feet.

"Get out you idiots!" Christina screamed dodging out of the door after her brothers. The three were out to their car when they heard the two sets of screams before they saw the two stumbling and running towards the trees. As the Impala peeled out of the the front of the house both Christina and Sam both saw a lumbering shape standing in the doorway before the front door slammed shut.

Christina stared quietly at the computer screen as she flashed over a newspaper clipping of the Murdock house back in the great depression era. As she stared her eyes scanned the article search for anything about the father Melicah being a killer but nothing showed up. She rubbed at the her eyes and glanced over at Sam who was doing the same with another news clipping. "Find anything?" She asked pulling the news clipping to see if she could spot it that way.

"Nothing." Sam answered with a sigh. He turned off his machine and stood up. He gathered up their articles before storing them in their proper places at the library before heading to find Dean talking sweetly at the young librarian who was blushing. "Things never seem to change with him." Sam said shaking his head and sneaking out of the library.

Christina watched and smiled when she saw that Dean was fumbling with his words as the woman's face was looking angry.

"Just leave me alone, you freak." The librarian said before storming off leaving Dean to look confused.

"I thought you said girls liked the smart guy." Dean said looking at his sister who slowly walked up to him.

"Maybe she knew that you weren't smart." Christina said with a shrug. "Plus it could also be the large diamond on her finger, that made her not interested."

Dean's face blushed as they walked out towards the car. Sam was leaning up against the wall next to the door and he was smiling at Dean. "Did you guys find anything else about that place?"

"Nope." Sam said with a shrug. "There was a Melicah Murdock and that was indeed his house but nothing else about him killing his daughters or anything violent happen during the great depression."

"So what do you think is going on?" Dean asked as the three walked to the Impala.

"I don't know." Sam answered truthfully. "But we'll have to find out before someone gets hurt."

Dean nodded and climbed into the drivers side of the Impala. He didn't notice Sam gently sticking an arm out to stop Christina ,who was texting someone, from entering the back seat. As soon as Dean turned over the engine a loud array of Mariachi music filled the small car making Dean let out an array of muffled swearing before managing the turn the radio down before shutting it off completely. He glared at Sam who slipped into the passenger seat while Christina looked confused as she slid into the back. "That was weak." Dean grumbled seeing the smile on his brother's face. "That was bush-league."

"That's still one point to me." Sam said holding up one finger and then pointing to himself wearing a victorious smile.
