Chapter 13

The Winchesters knew who the Striga was and knew that killing it in his human form ,of Doctor Hydecker, would be trouble as he was in the hospital unless he was out feeding of the children's life force. But how Dean was acting they both, Sam and Christina, could tell something else was bothering their brother.

"What happened in Fort Douglas?" Christina asked softly. She pressed an ice pack gingerly against her arm.

"Why are you asking?" Dean asked caught by surprise by the sudden question.

"Because ever since we found out it was a Striga and whenever Fort Douglas was brought up you'd clam up and act like someone kicked a puppy." Christina pointed out even Sam nodded agreeing to her observations.

"That's because it's more personal then most cases. But I might as well tell you." Dean said slowly sinking to the edge of the bed and let out a loud sigh. "Well, as you both know Dad had a similar case back in Fort Doulas sixteen maybe seventeen years ago," Sam and Christina nodded silently. "Well, Dad had left Sammy and I at the hotel by ourselves for a week. Well being stuck inside the hotel room with a young kid all day made me crazy. So I went to play a little on the arcade games in the lobby of the hotel. When I returned, after the lobby closed down for the night, I noticed the bedroom door cracked open and the cold air and I knew that the window was open. I thought maybe Sammy had opened it but he was only five or six and well, I opened the door and that's when I saw it. Black cloak, ugly face..." Dean looked down ashamed about of what he had done. "I grabbed the shotgun that was there, but I froze. I couldn't move. I watched it suck at Sammy's life force. I didn't know how long it was feeding on him but then Dad showed up and blasted it scaring at it away. I don't think I can ever get over that disappointed look on his face. Then Sammy got sick with the flu soon after so he stayed a week at Bobby's house while Dad took me hunting. He was going to make sure if that thing showed up again, I wouldn't freeze up like I did."

"It...It attacked me?" Sam asked surprised by what Dean had said. "Dad must have been upset when that happened."

"Yeah, we left right afterwards. And I bet when Dad started hearing about the attacks here he wanted us to finish."

"Not to sound rude," Christina said setting the ice pack back inside the mini fridge's small freezer. "But did he send us to finish it? Or, maybe perhaps you to fix what you failed to do the last time?" When she saw anger flash across her older brother's face, Christina's face paled. "I'm sorry I didn't mean any disrespect. I'm sorry I said anything. Please don't hate me."

"I don't hate you Christy." Dean said giving her a sad smile. "What you said could be true. But I'm going to look past it and look at something more important. Bagging this son of a Bitch."

"How so?" Sam asked thinking back to the journal he read while Dean and Christina were at the hospital. "None of us are kids...I doubt he's going to come after us."

"You're right." Dean said looking out the window at the lobby. "But it will go after Michael." He quickly stood up and left their hotel room.

"He's not really thinking about using Michael is he?" Sam asked shocked.

"It's the only way Sam." Christina said following after Dean. She was half way across the parking lot when Sam finally joined beside her. They found Dean sitting in the room behind the counter with Michael slouching onto the couch trying his hardest to convince himself that what Dean was telling him was nothing more then a fantastic story.

"It can't be true." Michael said after now trying to act as though he wasn't scared. "It was just a bad dream."

"Listen, Michael what you saw wasn't a nightmare. But with your help we can save your brother and the rest of the kids that were affected by this monster."

Michael began to tremble as he looked over the three adults that were now in the room. "H-How do you know it's going to come for me?"

"All the attacks have been siblings." Christina said sitting down next to Michael. "One sibling then the next. But we have the upper hand."

"How so?" Michael asked.

"You have us." Dean said happy to know that he had one sibling on board in using Michael.

Michael thought about it and looked up at them. "C-Could you give me a few minutes to this this through?"

"Well, we're kind of a deadline." Dean said know the attack would happen tonight.

"Think it over for an hour." Christina said glancing over at Dean. "That thing will be coming tonight whether you're with us or not. But we will appreciate it if you agree to help. But we will let you think this over. You know where to fine us." Standing up, Christina gently grabbed Dean's hand and pulled him to the door. Reluctantly both Sam and Dean followed and left the front office to head back to their hotel room.

"You think he's going to agree to us in using him as bait?" Dean asked.

"He loves his younger brother." Christina said with a small smile. "I'm sure if someone were to use you as bait in order to save Sam, you would hands down, wouldn't you?" Christina asked looking up at her older brother. "I have a feeling Michael will come to help soon."

"I hope you're right." Sam said sounding doubtful.

"Wait!" Michael's voice rang out from the parking lot as he rushed to the three, causing them to stop at their door. "You promise me that if you kill that thing that attacked my brother...then he should get better?"

"It's likely yes, but we can't know for sure." Sam said smiling at his sister who grinned happily.

"But it would stop it from hurting other kids in the future." Dean said seeing the unsureness in Michael's face. "That's for sure."

"Then...I'll help.

Dean fiddled with a small camera that was hidden in the bookshelf next to Michael's bed overlooking the bed and the room. "Now we'll be able to see you in the other room." Dean said pointing to the lens. "When we do come in, roll off and get under the bed." He turned around seeing the scared look on Michael's face. "You know in action movies when they shoot it's kind of loud?" He asked and Michael nodded. "Well real bullets sound ten times louder. So when you go under the bed cover your ears, and you don't come out until we tell you alright?"

"A-Alright." Michael said understandably nervous.

"You'll be fine. Don't worry." Dean said reassuring the boy. He gave Michael one last smile before turning and leaving the room only keeping the door ajar for faster access to the room. When he arrived in the other room he had dubbed 'command center' Sam and Christina were already watching the camera feed they had programmed into showing on the television. "All we need to do is wait."

"Is he going to be able to do this?" Sam asked seeing the boy huddled into his bed, the blanket tucked tightly underneath his chin.

"He's strong." Dean said his eyes fixed on the same boy before looking over at the window. "Let's hope the Doctor take the house call."

"Look there!" Christina said pointing at a dark shadow that gradually appeared in the window. "Do we go now?"

"No...we have to wait just a little bit longer." Dean said, a bead of sweat slowly sliding down the side of his face as he was forcing himself to stay still as the window slid open and the Striga gliding inside.

They watched as Michael hunkered lower as he was trying to seem like he was asleep. His face soon looked up when the Striga stood beside his and when there was a bright glow Dean, Sam and Christina rushed into the room.

"Michael now!" Dean screamed pulling out his pistol, which was ready to fire. He watched as Michael did as he was told. "Hey over here you ugly bitch!" Dean screamed catching the Striga's attention. "Free meal buffet come and get it!"

The Striga moved fast and shoved Dean against the wall causing his pistol to fall on the ground. Sam began to fire his own weapon catching the Striga's attention before Christina fired, missing the Striga's back and hitting the arm, as she had to use her left hand. It spun around and, much like Dean, shoved Christina against a wall. Her right arm taking the brunt of the hit. As she slid down the wall, letting out a cry of pain, the Striga turned and Shoved Sam to the bed as he was closer. Dean shook his head clearing the metaphorical stars and saw the Striga's mouth began to glow. As Sam started to gasp Dean saw a string of Sam's lifeforce slowly getting sucked out of his brother. Memories flashed in his mind as he remembered that night all those years ago. This time their father wasn't there to save them. Anger boiled as he found his gun and raised it.

"Hey Doctor!" The Striga looked up mouth still open and glowing. "Eat this!" Dean said just as he began to unload his clip into the chest and head of the monster causing spouts of grey silver blood to explode with each hit. After the last bullet was fired the Striga's form fell into a heap onto the floor and let out a shrill cry before becoming silent. "Sam you okay?" Dean asked seeing Sam slowly sit up after taking a few calming breaths.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He managed to say before letting out a couple of coughs.

Dean grinned and looked at Christina who tried her hardest not to cry. "You going to be okay?" He asked seeing her clutch her right arm. She didn't answer just nodded her head. He didn't believe her but turned his attention back to Michael's bed. "Michael you can come out now." He said and smiled when Michael slowly crawled out and looked at the still body which started to dissolve until it was a black spot on the floor.

"Is it over?" Michael asked looking hopeful at Dean.

"Yeah it's over, kid." Dean said smiling. "It's over for good."

After killing the Striga, and making sure Michael was safe in his room, the Winchesters fell asleep in their hotel beds happy that the case was finally over. Dean watched his siblings fall asleep. After they had fallen asleep he soon fell asleep afterwards. But he didn't know something was there watching them. But what was watching them wasn't wanting to attack the sleeping siblings it was there to help. It simply waited for them to be truly asleep before walking over to each of them in turn. It stopped at Dean first and the figure reached down and gently touched the middle of his forehead, causing the older Winchester's face to relax as the pain from him getting slammed into the wall vanished and his muscles relaxed sending him into a calming deep sleep. The figure then turned to Sam and touched the middle of his forehead and just like Dean, Sam's body relaxed as his muscles were soothed and his usual night plagued with nightmares were calm and he slept calmly. The figure then turned to the youngest of the Winchesters and tapped the middle of Christina's forehead. The sprain in her right arm quickly healed before the figure turned and soon vanished leaving the Winchesters to enjoy a peaceful and restful night.

The next day Dean woke up and slowly sat up. He let out a stretch and was surprised to know his usual sore muscles never hurt him. He chalked that one up to a full nights sleep and looked over at his siblings. They both looked peaceful even though the night before was hard on their bodies. He slowly got out of bed, grabbed his cellphone and headed for the bathroom. As he waited for his shower to heat up, he picked up the mobile device and opened up a new text message to his dad.

"Job's done." His message said as he sent it to their dad. He set his phone on the corner of the sink, stripped and climbed into the flow of hot water. As he rinsed his body off before grabbing some soap and lathering up his body. He rinsed off the suds and ran some water through his hair before shutting off the water. He was wanting to check on Michael before they got headed out that day. As he dried himself off he checked back into the room and saw that Sam and Christina were both still asleep in their beds. Dean continued to let them sleep as he quickly changed and began to pack up his belongings.

"Strange," Sam said walking up and leaning on his elbows. "You're up and moving around before me."

"Had a good night's sleep." Dean answered grinning. "I just hope those kids now have a chance to recover."

"Do you think Michael will be able to grow up from this?" Sam asked climbing out of his bed and grabbing a clean shirt from his own bag

"I can only hope." Dean said looking over his shoulder before looking at his sister who was still asleep. "Hey, time to check out." He said causing her to stir. "Do you need a pain med for that arm of yours?"

"Surprisingly no." Christina said looking down at her arm and took it out of the sling. "Does my arm look normal to you?" She asked rubbing her eyes to see if her being tired had anything to do with what she saw.

"Nothing looks normal about you." Dean teased and was rewarded with a pillow thrown at his head. After a good hard chuckle he shook his head. "It does look normal."

"That ice pack must have helped though it's weird that it helped so quickly." She shrugged and scooted out of her bed, tossing the sling onto her bed. "But I ain't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth." She grinned as she grabbed a few articles of clothing and headed for the bathroom to change. She could hear both her brothers chuckling outside the bathroom as they got themselves ready for the day. She however was scared as to why her arm magically healed during the night. Her heart thumped wildly thinking that Yellow eyed demon had something to do with it.

"You okay in there?" Dean asked knocking softly on the wood. "Seems pretty quiet."

"I'm fine." Christina said quickly switching out of her clothes and looked herself in the mirror. She could see that she was terrified as to what had happened so she practiced a few times relaxing her face and praying her face would not be scared when she got out. She took in a deep breath and headed out of the bathroom and walked straight for her bag. She relaxed as she noticed both her brothers were outside of their room letting her feel more relaxed.

"...hey that's great to hear!" Dean said when Christina walked out of the hotel, after slipping on her socks and shoes and grabbing the sling from her bed. "I bet Doctor Hydecker worked nonstop in trying to figure out what was wrong with those kids."

"Actually, he wasn't there." The mother said giving the brothers a confused look. "He had left early last night to get some sleep as he looked exhausted and he never came back in. He must have felt sick and decided to leave so that the kids wouldn't get more sick."

"Well, that's a great Doctor then." Christina said joining in the conversation and handing the mother the sling. "I guess that's infused with miracle medicine," she chuckled. "Arm's back to normal, thank you."

"You're welcome, sweetie." The mother smiled and looked down at Michael. "Come on in the car. You're brother is waiting for us to come back."

"I can come see him?" Michael asked his eyes lighting up excited.

"Yes you can."

Michael smiled and looked at the siblings that were now standing next to their own car. "Can you give me a sec. I need to say something to them." The mother nodded and let Michael to jog over to them. "Thanks for saving me and my brother."

"Hey it's what we do." Dean said shrugging.

"But you can't tell anyone what we do." Sam said looking at Michael's mom. "Not even your mother or brother."

"But why?" Michael asked confused.

"It's for your protection." Christina said softly. "And trust me, you don't want people to call you a freak or anything."

Michael shook his head but understood what the three meant. "Will we ever see each other again?"

"We don't know." Dean said. "But you should head to see your brother. I'm sure he misses you." Michael nodded and the three siblings watched as he ran to his mom's truck before they drove off leaving the three to climb into the Impala and drive in the opposite direction happy that one less monster was no longer walking the streets.
