Chapter 17
Christina and Sarah leaned against the impala while Sam and Dean walked out to dig up and burn the remains of Isaiah Merchant after Dean had called around looking for where he was buried. Christina glanced over at Sarah who was fighting with herself whether she wanted to stay at the car or watch Sam and Dean dig up the body.
"You know I'm not going to force you to stay here if you want to go watch." Christina said seeing the uncertainty flashing in Sarah's eyes. "It's kind of a normal thing for me."
"But aren't you worried about getting caught?" Sarah asked seeing how calm Christina was and didn't realize they were walking out to the brothers until she could see dirt flying out of a deep hole.
"That's why we do this at night and park the car so far away." Christina said with a calming smile. "Trust me we try our hardest not to get caught. It does happen but not really often. Especially when the graves don't look like people have been visiting them often."
Sarah just stared at her while they stopped just short of the hole looking down and seeing Sam and Dean panting as they tossed several more scoops of dirt and out onto two piles near on either side of the gravesite.
"Do you guys need anything?" Christina asked seeing Dean stop and stretch his back. The hole only looked to be about four feet and he was slowly covered with dirt and sweat.
"Want to take over for a bit?" Dean asked wiping his forehead with the back of his hand smearing some dirt causing mud to spread across his skin.
"Sure." Christina helped Dean up from the hole, with the help of Sarah and jumped into the hole making sure not to jump onto Sam and get them hurt. It only took a few minutes to find her groove until the hole was slowly getting dug out.
It only took an extra thirty minutes before both Sam's and Christina's shovel smacked down on something hard. Using their shovels they managed to move the dirt off the top of a plain wooden coffin. Carefully pressing herself against the side of the gravesite Christina watched as Sam broke the top of the coffin causing a moment of foul stench exiting the small hole.
"Never would get used to that." Christina said holding her hand as she was unable to climb out of the hole. Dean bent down and helped her out while Sam easily managed to hoist himself out of the hole.
Sarah watched silently as Sam bent down and lifted out a small jerry can of Gasoline while Dean poured some salt and handed Christina some matches from his pocket. The soft woosh from the flames as the gasoline ignited caused Sarah to wobble slightly as she wasn't used to the pull. The four stood in silence as the wood and remains continued to burn. After a few more minutes, as the flames began to die down, the Winchester Brothers began to fill in the hole smothering the flames and Christina grabbed the gasoline and salt.
"So what now?" Sarah asked as the four slowly walked back to the impala.
"Now we go and burn that picture. Since we know what's stopping it from getting destroyed." Sam said tossing the shovels and other supplies into the trunk.

Sam and Sarah walked into the house while Dean and Christina stood outside to keep watch for police or any nosey neighbors. They both looked at each other and back at the house when they could hear Sam let out an desperate cry for help when the door slammed shut. Both Dean and Christina tried to open up the door before trying to break the windows and finding them unable to do it.
"Sam!" Dean screamed banging into the door before pulling out his cellphone. He quickly dialed his brother's number and put it up to his ear. "Sam what the hell?!" There was a reply and Christina could hear Sam's muffled response from inside the house.
"It wasn't the father!" He screamed and Christina could hear it from both the cellphone in Dean's hand and from inside the house. "The father was trying to tell us!"
"Then who was it?!" Dean yelled as he trying to find a way inside the house to protect both Sam and Sarah.
"The Daughter! We need to burn the remains of the daughter!"
"Where can we find that?" Dean asked he looked at Christina who stopped to think for a minute before her eyes went wide with realization.
"The doll! The daughter's doll! It has her hair! Her hair can be counted as remains!" Christina cried remembering what Sarah had told them earlier that day. "Come on Dean!" Dean followed his sister to the car and leapt into the driver's seat before quickly speeding off towards the cemetery while he handed Christina his cellphone.
"Come on hurry it up Dean!" Sam said over the other end and Christina could hear Sarah screaming for Sam followed by grunts and groans as Sam was fighting something.
"Hurry Dean!" Christina gasped afraid of catching the death of her brother over the phone or even the death of Sarah, an innocent.
"Brace yourself!" Dean ordered as they neared the cemetery just minutes later and finding the gates closed.
Christina covered her face with her jacket as the bonnet of the car easily broke the lock of the wrought iron gates and they roared just to the outside of the Mausoleum. Dean and Christina jumped out of the car leaving it running and once again entered the Merchant family crypt. Spotting the glass case with the doll both of the Winchesters tried to break into it with rocks and even the butt of Dean's gun.
"Come on Dean!" Dean screamed seeing the error of his ways. "Cover your eyes Christy!" He screamed and lifted the barrel to lock onto the glass. He waited just a second as Christina turned and ducked her head down as to not get cut before he fired. The glass didn't explode like it would in the movies but instead left a small hole in the center of the case. Using his elbow that managed to break the glass big enough to allow Christina to reach in and grab the doll ignoring the slice of her hand from the glass that was still stuck in it's frame. "Hold it out." Dean said reaching into his pocket and pulling out his lighter. He struggled to get the flint to light but once it did stuck it under the row of dark hair catching it almost instantly.
The smell of burning hair made Christina let out a cough as it began to gag her but when the face of the doll began to melt she dropped it on the floor. The two watched as the doll continued to burn leaving a mess of plastic, ash and embers to be left smoldering on the crypt floor.
Dean lifted his cellphone to his ear and looked relieved. "You guys alright?" Dean asked noticing his sister wrapping her hand with a handkerchief she had in her back pocket and walk out only to return with a trashcan and lone shovel that was laying next to a freshly filled hole. She didn't talk as she scooped up the smoldering leftovers of the doll and placing it inside the trashcan. "Yeah, we're okay here too. Just cleaning up the place. We'll be there in about twenty minutes." Sam must have said a farewell as Dean closed his phone with a sharp snap and slid it inside his jacket's pocket. "Hey Christy let me take care of the glass. Why don't you head to the car and get some gauze on that." He pointed to the bleeding hand and carefully tossed her the keys, which after a slight fumble she still had in her hand.
"Thanks." Christina said handing Dean the shovel and carefully walked back to the car to open the back trunk. Her hand began to throb under the pressure from the handkerchief but she knew she had worse back when she first started out. As she reached into the trunk the soft smell of rain began to flow into her nose and she subconsciously looked up to see if there were rainclouds. But the sky was clear as she could see a lot of stars twinkling above her. Then a soft tingle from her hand made her look down as she carefully lifted her handkerchief to find her hand was no longer bleeding only a soft pink scar was now replacing her cut. She had a feeling Dean would wonder what had happened and she grabbed a Band-Aid and placed it over the scar until she was certain it wouldn't cause him to wonder how her wound healed. As she slipped into the impala to wait her brother her mind began to think back to when her other wounds almost magically healed over. She was deep in thought when Dean slid into the driver's seat and could she her struggling to comprehend something.
"You okay there, sis?" Dean asked making her jump slightly in the seat. "Sorry, you look so deep in thought I had to make sure you were okay."
"Oh I'm fine. Just trying to think of an excuse to write the cemetery as to why there is a broken glass case in a family's crypt."
"Already thought of something." Dean said with a smirk as he slowly backed up, leaving the lights off as the Impala slipped further into the night. "So why don't you get some sleep and I'll look over that hand when we head back to the hotel."
"Oh, don't worry about that." Christina said looking down. "It wasn't all that bad." She let out a chuckle as she lifted it up and showed her brother the Band-Aid on her palm. "I'll live."
"If you're sure," Dean said trying to think back to seeing all the blood and knowing it was worse then his sister was telling him. "Come on, let's pick up Sam and Sarah. Hopefully we're not interrupting anything."
Christina gave him a confused sideways glance and she gently slugged him in his arm as she finally got what he was meaning. "You're insane."
"Ten bucks says Sam's gonna kiss her before we leave town."
"I'm not going to pay you as he may kiss her but I'm sure he's not going to pursue her. Having a relationship after what we just experience isn't the start of a healthy relationship."
Dean shook his head as he slowly arrived at the beginning of the neighborhood. "You confuse me."
"Welcome to having a sister. We're the most confusing creatures out there." Christina grinned and climbed into the back allowing her brother Sam to sit in the front while Sarah climbed into the back with his sister.

The Winchesters had finished packing when there was a soft knock on their door. Sam quickly walked over and opened it as he was the closet and was surprised when Sarah stood on the other side looking unsure why she was there.
"Hey Sam." She said with a nervous smile.
Sam stared at Sarah until he felt a jab from his sister who carefully moved around and headed for the Impala to load her belongings. "Sarah," Christina listened as she gently placed her backpack in the backseat. "What brings you here?"
"I called the hotel and heard you were going to be leaving today. Thought I'd let you know that I had that painting burned. My father asked me why
I had it burned, but I told him it's because of the bad reputation and nobody would be buying it anymore. He accepted that excuse but I know he'll take it hard but as it's going to be my auction house in a couple of years then he's accepting what choices I make."
"Well, I appreciate you telling us. Glad that it's finally over." Sam said with a grin.
"But if it's not," Dean said squeezing his way in between the two to head to his car. "Don't hesitate to give us a call and we'll be right back in a heartbeat."
Sarah gave a chuckle as her cheeks began to glow a soft red color. "I'll keep that in mind, thanks." She watched as Dean moved past giving Sam a slight bump from his shoulders. Sam gave Dean a soft glare but smiled down at Sarah who smiled and turned to leave before Sam gently gripped her wrist turned her around and attached his lips tenderly on hers. Sarah felt her eyes fall closed but like before when they were close together there was that longing but deep down she knew that it would never go anywhere. But she was going to enjoy this as long as she possibly could and wish that one day they would reunite.
Sam grinned and walked left the hotel standing outside of the car giving Sarah a little wave who waved back and blushed. As Sam slid inside the car, he turned and saw the teasing look from his brother. "What?" He asked seeing Dean smiling and pulling out.
"Just saying Sammy, I'm liking this new you." Dean said with a grin.
Sam just chuckled and leaned back watching as the hotel slowly vanished from the rear view mirror. "Well, I'm still the same." Sam said adjusting so he was more comfortable. "And it's just Sam."
