Chapter 19

The early morning silence was broken by wails of police cars and radio talk. The Winchester siblings didn't have a choice but to stand next to the Impala while their father John talk to the sheriff just a few feet away.

"Is he always like this?" Christina asked not wanting to think bad of her father. "Because when I hunted with him in New Mexico he was a bit more relaxed and willing for help."

"He just finally got his favorite punching bag back." Sam grumbled glaring at the back of John's head as he continued to talk to the Sheriff. "I just can't believe he wouldn't let us go talk too."

"Oh god..." Dean groaned shaking his head and looking a bit annoyed and surprised. "You're already starting that shit again?"

"What?" Sam asked glaring at his older brother.

"You always butting heads with Dad. I mean we searched for him for a year and you want to start that fighting once again."

"He makes it so easy, Dean." Sam said coldly but as soon as John was making his way back to the three Sam stood up straight and shoved his hands into his jacket to watch their father with shifty eyes. Dean looked like he was preparing for a fight while Christina just looked with cold eyes which was out of character for her.

"They were here." John said pulling a handkerchief out of his own coat pocket. "They got a call about ten last night. A couple called in saying there was a body in the road. When the husband went out to check on the person, the cops could hear the woman screaming. So by the time the police got to the car the couple was gone. They were here, and are heading West."

"How do you know?" Sam asked darkly getting a panicked look by Dean.

"I just know." John said but could see that Sam wasn't going to take that as an answer. "I did find this by the back tire. Told the cop that it was a cool rock." He unfolded the handkerchief and looked down at a small off white object. "Do any of you know what this is?"

"A vampire fang?" Sam and Dean both asked.

"A tooth." Christina said lifting her hand silently asking to pick it up which John nodded. Christina looked at the tooth and carefully examined the object carefully. "You see Vampires have a second set that descends from the gums when they hunt. Must have been lost during the scuffle of that couple."

"Impressive." John said with a prideful smirk earning a scowl from Sam. "It also means we're heading in the right direction. But we need to hurry before we loose the trail." John quickly turned and headed for his Truck which was parked right next to Dean's Impala. "By the way, Dean, wipe down your car before you get rust. If I knew you didn't care I wouldn't have given you the car."

Dean grimaced as he stopped Christina from saying something. Despite her being so knew to the group, he already picked up on her mannerisms pretty quickly. As they slid into the Impala, Dean tossing the Impala keys to Sam as he looked like he wasn't wanting to drive now as John disrespected the care for his car. "I'll see what I can find out on Vampires." Dean said as the three watched silently as John pulled out and began to drive back to get around the crime scene ahead of them.

"Fine with me." Sam said coldly. He hated how John openly disrespected his brother and didn't seem to bat an eye at Christina as she clearly knew her supernatural creatures. He glanced in the rear view and watched as Christina muttered to herself quietly before closing her eyes.

"Vampires nest, live in packs of eight or ten." Dean read after finally finding the entry of vampires. "Smaller packs are sent out to hunt for food for the entire nest to bleed out for days...I wonder if that's what happened to the 911 couple."

"Dad seems to think so," Sam grumbled glaring at their father's tail lights that were just in front of them. "Of course it would be nice if Dad actually told us about what he thinks."

"Oh come on," Dean snapped shutting the hunting journal in his hands. "We haven't been with dad for more then 48 hours. Do I need to remind you that we searched for him for a year. During that time we found a sister?"

"A sister he doesn't seem to care for." Christina said loud enough to be heard over the roar from the engine. "Dean he has this control over you. I didn't believe it when Sam told me about him in college. But now...experiencing it first hand...Dean he was completely different when I hunted with him in New Mexico." Dean looked back at her shocked of the sudden betrayal. "Yes I was anxious to find him. But I grew up with people who didn't tell me things and it nearly got me killed."

"Look, Dad's got a plan. He gets that way sometimes. We just need to just follow him." Dean said continuing to support their Dad from the comments his two younger siblings were talking to him about. He sighed as his cellphone began to ring from his pocket. "Yes, sir." Dean answered making Sam and Christina assume he was talking to their father. "Yes, sir." He hung up and slid his phone back inside his pocket. "Dad said to pull off here at this exit." He said looking back down at the journal in his hands and opened it back up.

The sudden surge of speed caused both Dean and Christina to be slammed back into their seats as Sam sped and quickly blocked their father with a quick twist of the steering wheel. Brakes squealing to a stop was followed by slamming doors.

"What the Hell are you thinking?" John snarled as Dean and Christina jumped out after Sam grabbed hold of their father's jacket.

"What are you thinking, Dad?" Sam snapped back luckily pulled off of John by Dean who quickly stepped in front of his brother when Christina stood in front of John and was pushing his chest to keep him away from Sam. "What's so damn important about a gun that you're purposefully keeping us in the dark?"

"Now's not the time to discuss this." John said trying to make a break towards his truck.

"No," Sam said shoving Dean to the side. "You tell us now. Dad we searched for your for a year and when we find you, you tell us it's to dangerous to be with you. Now you're wanting our help and you don't talk to us."

The three siblings looked at John who sighed and shook his head. "I promise I'll explain everything. But for now, we need to find that vampire nest before more people are taken."

Sam sighed heavily and stomped his way into the Impala while John finally was able to escape into his truck leaving Dean and Christina to stay behind and look confused as to what they should do. Finally Dean and Christina climbed back into the Impala and tried to ignore the sulking Sam as they drove following John.

Four hours of not talking slowly drove away what sanity was left for the Winchester siblings as they watched as their dad pulled off the side of the road to allow an old model Camaro fly past before taking a sharp turn to the left and vanished in an array of dust and exhaust. Silently the Winchesters drove further up the dirt road they had pulled off to investigate the bizarre behavior of the Camaro. They stopped their respected vehicles and silently climbed out of them. Keeping low all four Winchesters snuck towards a hill that seemed to overlook a small outcrop of trees. But when they reached and peered over the top they saw that down below was a barn that had bordered up windows, and had a small crumbling building just a few yards away that looked like it was a house at one point. They watched as the Camaro finally slammed on it's breaks stopping just in front of the barn, as the large barn doors slowly opened to show a man around forty or so step out covering his face with his arm from the sun that was shining just above the trees.

"We found the nest." Christina whispered after she had taken a few sniffs.

"Wait that's a vampire nest?" Dean asked as they watched the two men disappear into the barn and closing the door behind them. "I thought sunlight would kill them."

"Not kill them." John said as they all backed up and headed back to their vehicles. "But direct sunlight hurts like a sunburn towards them." He slowly turned and looked at Christina who looked at him. "Why did you sniff?"

"I tend to smell people slash creatures. Everyone gives off a specific scent." She said before walking away not wanting to continue the conversation. She walked up to the trunk of Dean's car and watched as he opened up the false bottom and looked at all his choices. "Cutting off the head is the only way to kill them." Christina said seeing the uncertainty in Dean's face. "Machetes are your best bet."

"Thanks." Dean said grabbing hold of a Machete handle then giving one to Sam. He handed Christina a handle and looked up at their father. "Hey dad, we can give you one of ours if you don't have one."

"No thanks." John said sliding out a sheathed machete and pulling out the serrated blade. "I got one." He closed a small compartment that was hidden in the bed of his truck and the four slowly made their way down the small hill towards the barn. "Okay so Vampires they do sleep during the day but that doesn't mean they won't wake up. Cutting off their-"

"Head will kill them." Dean finished. "Thanks I already got that memo from her." Christina and John shared a look which Dean didn't catch. "Which way do we go in?"

"Dean, you and Sam will go through the front door." John said before looking at Christina. "You and I will go through here."

Dean and Sam were about to interject but Christina nodded slowly. "Hey don't worry. If things go down I'll have backup. That way you guys can just focus on each other." Christina watched as her brothers nodded reluctantly and followed John over towards the east side of the barn before stopping just below a window.

"You ready?" John asked sliding opening the window and waiting to make sure nobody was going to jump out at them.

"After you." Christina said and John nodded before slipping inside with Christina following closely behind.

The air inside the barn was musty with the mix of dirt that caused both John and Christina's head to spin. Quickly they shook off the sensation and headed further into the barn where they spotted to people curled up on an old mattress and underneath a moth eaten quilt. Christina turned to look at John and mouthed the word "Head Vampire" before John lifted up his finger to his lips to stop her from possibly making noise. He didn't see his found daughter roll her eyes and they walked carefully to the left side of the bed and reached for a gun that was laying on a nightstand with a small leather box opened to show six bullets inside.

"The colt." John whispered his eyes gazing intently at the weapon forgetting that he was standing just feet away from two vampires. His hand reached out to grasp the handle when a loud shrieking scream made him freeze and the couple open their eyes and looked at the two intruders. John and Christina both raised their machetes but were shoved back causing John to smash into the wall while Christina crashed into a door leading further into the barn.

Before Christina could move or yell out for help three or four vampires were on top of her and was holding her steady. Christina was breathing fast as they effortlessly lifted her up and slammed her down in front of a pole and tying her with rope. She noticed, in the middle of the barn, where an obviously dried up puddle of blood sat just feet away from her feet she knew someone wasn't super lucky. She hoped she wouldn't face the same fate.

"Looks like we caught ourselves a treat." One of the vampires said inching closer towards Christina who was trying her hardest to remain calm but the feeling of her heart pounding against her chest was a clear sign she was upset and scared.

"Don't." Call the man from earlier as he pulled on his shirt. "We can use this one for an idea what they are planning on doing?"

"Might as well eat me," Christina said even though she hoped they wouldn't go through with her plea. "I won't tell you anything."

"Oh come on now." The man said and Christina's nose wrinkled up when the smell of harsh liquor tickled her nose plus the undeniable smell of copper from blood that was mixed with it. "I know you're working with those...hunters. I want to know how they found us out?"

"That I can give you. They found one of your newbie's tooth at a scene where two people were picked up. I take it one of them wasn't so lucky judging by the dark spot on the floor...unless you're trying to do some touches with the wood stain." Christina spoke condescendingly at the man even though she knew if he was angry enough he could easily rip open her throat and drink out all of her blood.

"You got some balls on you girl." The man said inching his face closer towards her neck and licking the skin just softly enough to cause her skin to prickle. "And I bet you're a hunter too. Seeing as you have a weapon that could easily take us out."

"Kids these days and their new toys." Christina replied back struggling against the ropes that were now digging into her skin. "But I do have to say, those hunters...they will be back and they would kill each and every last one of you...starting with you buddy."

"Luther, let me play with her." The woman who was sleeping next to the man who was now identified as Luther, said her smell of swamp water and beer swarmed over Christina. "She needs to be taught respect."

"No, Kate." Luther said leaning back towards Christina's neck. "She would be used for another reason..." His mouth opened up and large sharp teeth entered into Christina's neck making the girl scream with pain. After a few seconds of Luther feeding off of her blood she felt weak and slumped against the pole. "Taste different then anyone else I've had...but you now see what will happen if you don't tell me what you and those hunters mean to do with this Colt."

"Go...to Hell..." Christina wheezed out as she felt dizzy from the loss of blood.

"I'll meet you there first." Luther said right before Christina slumped forward passing out.
