Chapter 20

Christina woke up feeling her body stiff and her neck throbbing. Thoughts slowly began buzz around her; questions on how her family could leave her alone in the den of vampires. She let out a groan of pain as some of the hair that was glued to the dried blood from the recent bite from Luther. She tried to keep her eyes open as the loss of blood was still making her still dizzy. She wished she knew how long she was in there and why her head was sounding like someone yelling but when she felt rough hands on her shoulders and was pulled even when her wrists were still tied behind her on the pillar.

"Get up girl." Luther said his face and voice was full of anger as he roughly pulled her to her feet and tossed her to the floor breaking the pillar by only her tied up wrists. "Your partners kidnapped my mate...they're offering a trade. But they're wanting the colt. But I thought I'd see how loyal they are." He began to drag Christina by her shoulders and tossed her in the back of a car and snarled as he slid into the driver's seat. He didn't wait for Christina to get buckled in when Luther stomped on the gas causing Christina to be flung back then when Luther took a sharp turn it caused her to be flung into the door then rolled to the floor. "Comfy?!" Luther laughed as Christina was in pain being tied up, bit and trying to figure out why her own family abandoned her.

Christina had been silently crying for however long she spent on her stomach on the floor of a dirty car when she felt it stop sharply. Her body felt stiff and sore when she could hear Luther talking to someone outside.

"Got the gun?" Christina instantly recognized as John, the man what by some mysterious miracle was her father. Her own flesh and blood was there not seeming to care that she was now bleeding in the back of a car and getting random disease filled whatever into her wound.

"I got the gun. But I also have something else." Luther said and even being out of the car, Christina could hear how sickly oily his voice was. He snapped his hand and two pairs of rough hands grabbed hold of Christina's shoulders and dragged her out of the car and onto her feet. "Seems you now have a choice Winchester. This girl seems to be part of your group. Now do you want to gun or her. You can't have both."

Christina lifted her head, which felt like a bag of rocks, and stared at the man that stood in front of her. She locked eyes and could see John with a woman looking just as miserable as she was standing next to him. "Please..." her voice was weak and raw as her neck was starting to sting.

"I want the gun." John said looking determined and Christina felt like her legs just got kicked out underneath her. Her own father chose a weapon over her. "As agreed Luther." John said grabbing the woman. "We exchange in the middle." John glared at Luther as he and the drugged out woman slowly to the middle while Luther walked out holding out a small old looking gun. "As agreed Luther." John said as he got closer, Christina saw that John had a machete up against the woman's neck. "Don't double cross Luther."

"Don't worry John, I don't think a double crossing from me would be what hurts the most." Luther said seeing as Christina was now looking away almost like she was becoming a willing meal/new vampire. She even looked spaced out which made Luther look smug.

Christina refused to look up when after seeing her own father pick a weapon over her she gave up on being saved. That was until she felt the vampires hands release her shoulders causing her legs to fall out from beneath her and she laid on the asphalt that was until she felt strong arms picking her up and an arm began to squeeze around her neck.

"She's going to die, Winchester!" Luther yelled. "Better tell those two to drop their weapons." In her blurry vision she could see two tall figures standing with crossbows and machetes.

"She's not going to die, Luther." John said making Christina to turn and look as John was standing with his arm stretched out. She couldn't see what was in his hand until she saw a flash of orange then felt herself drop once again. This time she just laid there even as she heard a scream and vehicles squealing out leaving her there.

"Christy." Sam's voice was soothing almost when he knelt down and carefully picked her up. He could see her eyes filling up with tears as she looked up at his eyes. "It's okay, let's get you to a hospital." As he picked her up she began to tremble from the lack of blood and what what she had just went through. "I got ya." He soothed as he jogged towards he Impala which was parked just a few feet inside some trees. "I'm here." He could feel her gripping against him which barely dawned on her that her wrists were untied. "Dean we got to go."

"Yeah you go. I'll take care of these vamps." John said when both his sons turned and walked away. "I'll meet you three at the hospital."

None of the three Winchesters turned or acknowledged their father as they got settled in the Impala. Dean didn't even fuss when Christina was laid out on the backseat and a towel from the floor was placed aganist her neck. Soft sobs filled the backseat as Dean pulled out of the trees and headed towards the interstate trying to drive to the nearest hospital for his sister.

Sam and Dean were sitting in the waiting room when John walked in and sunk into one of the chairs. "We did good. Got rid of a nest and one step closer to getting rid of the Demon."

"That's great dad." Sam said stretching while he sat forward. "Excuse me I got to get something to eat." He stood up and headed down the hallway leaving Dean and John alone.

As soon as his youngest son left, John turned to look at Dean. "Good job at taking out the nest."

"Thanks, sir." Dean said not really sure how to be around the man after what he saw. "Not only did we took care of the nest we also saved a bunch of people."

"That's good. What did you guys say to them so they don't go talking about Vampires and such?" John asked just full of curiousity and wanting to keep the small talk going.

"That those people were just hyped up on drugs." Dean said and tensed when the doctor walked out slowly taking off his mask and stopping just a few feet away from Dean and John.

"How is she?" Dean asked standing up and John follwing slowly.

"She's resting now. We're giving her a blood transfusion as she lost a lot of blood from what ever bit her. She was given stiches, which I'm surprised by how we had enough skin to stitch up. That bite was something terriable. Reminds me of when we tried to save a local man just a few days ago. But that bear was just vicious and he didn't stand a chance."

"How long would she be needing to stay?" Dean asked knowing well the doctor had just talked about Daniel Elkins and knew what had killed him nearly killed his sister.

"At least overnight. We'll aim for tomorrow afternoon to see if she can leave." The doctor said nodding his hello to John. "I also wanted to let you know visiting hours is over for tonight but you can come visit at eight tomorrow."

"Thanks." Dean looked at his father and turned to leave. "Lets head to a hotel." He said and walked away leaving John alone.

Christina stared blankely at the wall ignoring the flickering of the televison screen before she shut it off. She felt tired and weak as she lay there. She kept telling herself she wasn't strong like the rest of her family to the point she wished she just die so they wouldn't have to worry about her anymore. She tensed up as she smelt warm bread, cut grass and scotch coming from the doorway.

"I'm sorry." John said as he stood in the doorway of Christina's room. He had snuck himself into see her needing to sneek glances as nurses or doctors left the rooms so he could make sure he didn't disturb anyone else. "I realized I made a huge mistake."

"Yep." Christina said her voice raspy and it was hard for John to hear as she had her head turned away. "Glad you got that gun though." She added dryly shifting slightly in her bed but turned her head so she could see John. "Why'd you pick a gun, something that we can use only a few times and not try and save a life of a child? Am I not that important to you?"

John hung his head down thought and of what she had said. He looked up to say that things will change but stopped when he could tell she was crying as a tear fell down her cheek. "I should probably head out before I get thrown out." He tried to laugh but it only made Christina slowly turn away from him. "Anyways goodnight, Christina."

"Night, Da...John." Christina said and John felt a pain in his chest.

"I'm sorry." John said but he didn't wait for an answer as he turned and walked away.

Christina buried her face as she heard John leave down the hallway. Light sobs were muffled slightly by the pillow as she cried. It wasn't out of pain but by the feeling of not being thought as important as her own father.

A soft touch began to spread through her head and down her neck. After a few seconds she felt at peace and fell asleep to the soft scent of fresh fallen rain.

The next morning the doctor announced to John, Dean and Sam that Christina would be able to leave a lot sooner as expected as it seemed her wound wasn't as bad as they first thought. The three Winchester men looked confused and scared but something calmed them down as they saw her being rolled out of her room to shake the Doctor's hand. As she was able to walk down the hallway she looked up and for a breif second she smiled at John who quickly lowered his head and took a step back as he watched her hug Sam and Dean.

"Come on lets get out of here," Dean said slapping his brothers shoulder. "I think this hospital is making my usual dirty mind cleaner with all its disinfectants."

"Highly doubt that." Sam said as they walked past a really attractive nurse who gave Dean a wink as they brushed past.

"Yep, I'm still me." Dean said making Christina giggle as she wrapped her arms in both her brothers as they had her walk in between them.

John watched his three kids walking down the hallway and felt the guilt crawling back into the pit of his stomach. He knew he had made a huge mistake and now he must work on getting his only daughter to forgive him.
