Hey yall! I'm so sorry for this late update. Things have gone insane since the beginning of the year. But I'm going to try and get back into posting. This chapter seemed rush and there's a lot of extra scenes but that's the beauty of fanfiction. I love you all and I hope you all can get back to this story. Thanks.

Chapter 21

To say things were tense between the small Winchester family was an understatement. John was forcing himself day and night being focused on reading his journal and looking up things on Sam's laptop. His three children tried to act as civil as John's demeanor was strained since Dean and Sam asked John to rest a few days in Manning, Colorado to allow their sister, Christina to recover from their run in with the vampire nest in Wyoming. John however kept the peace as he was too focused on his research.

The kids were respectfully allowing John to research, while they sat quietly watching tv on mute with captions on. Christina however had hidden herself in the bathroom and the boys could hear water turning on and off before she opened the door and they saw she had taken out the stiches. No one spoke about it as she gave the look of 'don't ask' as she walked to her bed and sat down pulling out a book to read.

"Found it." John said causing all three of his children to turn and look at him.

"What do you mean?" Sam asked sliding into a seat just across from John while Dean sat down on the corner of the bed beside Sam.

"I have to start by saying I've been looking into this just a little while ago. But around the time of your mother's murder we started having strange weather phenomenon. I didn't connect the dots until now. But through out the United states there have these weather phenomenon and then families with six month victims started to be attacked."

"I was six months old that night wasn't I?" Sam asked making Dean and Christina to look between Sam and John.

"Yes you were. Six months old on the dot." John said sighing and then stood up to begin to pack up his small amount of clothes. "But we need to get going. This weather issue started just a few nights ago. We need to get there and stop another family to go through this."

"Where do we need to go?" Dean asked standing up and seeing as Sam and Christina slowly start to grab their belongings.

"Salvation, Iowa." John said leaving the room followed quickly by his three kids. As he climbed into his truck he could hear some distant whispered yelling before he saw Christina appear, angrily and climb into the passenger side door. He didn't think it was wise to say anything as he had an encounter with Mary once and he figured that if he asked her anything and she was angry it wouldn't be pretty in the end. But as he started to drive with his sons behind him he turned to her and saw tears sliding down her face even her faced looked relaxed. He opened his mouth to speak but closed it instead and continued to drive out of town.

It had been an uncomfortable four hours as John drove only stopping briefly for fuel and drive through food that it was driving him crazy. He however had an idea as to why his daughter was mad at him.

"I'm sorry for leaving you." John said after not being able to deal with the silence and the sense of hate he felt coming from her.

"What time?" Christina asked coldly and it felt like her voice was out of character as he could see tears nearly flowing out of her eyes but she turned her head to hide them.

"I was talking about leaving you in that barn." John said and almost instantly felt guilt being stabbed into his gut.

"Funny. You seemed to forget the other times." She cleared her throat and forced herself into a straighter sitting position. The tears that had started to fall suddenly stopped as her face went stern and her eyes locked on the windshield.

"What other times are you talking about?" John asked already mentally preparing for the backlash he felt he was going to receive.

"Enid Oklahoma, November 3rd 1984. One day after I was handed to you. Second time Moore Oklahoma, December 19 1990 after I had been taken and nearly killed by a ghost of a child. Not to mention Albuquerque, New Mexico you must have known I was your daughter...as I could see your face looking at me different when you came to my rescue..."

John swallowed hard and opened his mouth to say something when his cellphone began to ring from his pocket and Christina forced herself to look out the window again fighting against sobs that was breaking out of her throat. "Hey Caleb." John sighed and tried to listen to the soft sigh and hitched breathing on the other side.

"John, something bad happened." Caleb said his voice trying to regain composure.

"What happened, Caleb?" John said forgetting the conversation he just had with his daughter and focused on his friend that was on the phone right now and was sounding like he was in danger.

"I went to check in on Pastor Jim...he's dead." John felt his stomach drop as he leaned back and let out a sigh of disbelief as he mentored, even hunted and dropped his two boys with Pastor Jim Murphy then hearing he was killed just made him shake his head.

"Thanks for that...but how did he..." He couldn't finish. He hated when he lost friends who he had hunted with from the past years and he hated hearing they died doing this job he forced his two boys into.

"His throat was slashed in his room. There was Sulphur all over the room. John I don't know what to say, but this is getting really strange. I've never heard of any demons being able to step onto hollowed ground before." Caleb said clearly sounding a bit uneasy with the state of their friend.

"Neither have I, Caleb. But all I can say is keep yourself safe." John spoke softly as he, a weathered hunter, forced his tears to not fall as he hung up and pulled over. John didn't say anything just climbed out of the truck.

Christina slowly climbed out and all her anger towards him was pushed further down as she could see the hurt he was experiencing and slowly reached out and rubbed his back. She felt John tense up underneath her touch and quickly moved her hand away and looked up as she could hear Sam and Dean walking towards them.

"What's going on?" Dean asked as he watched Christina walk over to them and stood next to Sam.

"Got a call from Caleb." John said his voice slightly shaky from the news he had gotten. "Jim Murphy's dead."

"What?" Sam asked his falling with his own shock from the news. "How?"

"Caleb said his throat was slashed and there was Sulphur there...So a demon killed Jim."

"Was it the demon?" Dean asked finding his voice after calming down his own shock.

"I don't know." John said shaking his head. "But we need to keep going to Salvation. We need to stop this demon once and for all." The siblings watched as John jumped into the truck and drove off.

Dean turned to see his sister already climbing into the back and the look he saw in her eyes the soft gleam of tears but the thought of dealing with the opportunity to finally get the revenge from the yellow eyed monster that destroyed his family. When he climbed in he turned and saw that Christina had her head leaning on the back window and her jacket's hood was covering her face as if to block out the non existent light. But from a quickly flash of headlights from a passing car saw a few stray tears rolling down her face.

The impala slowed to a stop just outside of a small motel but nobody left the car until they saw John walk out and motion them to a parking spot. Dean turned off his car before climbing out of the car followed closely by Sam and Christina.

"Sam," John said walking up to them, "I'm going to have you go searching for all the new infants at the main hospital that will be turning six months within the next couple of days."

"But that could be over a hundred." Sam said trying not to sound like a disgruntled teenager.

"Then you better get going." John said before looking at Dean and Christina. "You two go and see if you can look up to see if there has been any more instances in the past, while I go look at the hospital near the edge of town."

John and Sam walked into the hotel room to change into their business attire while Dean and Christina walked back to the impala as they were just going to head to the library.

As soon as Dean and Christina climbed in and Dean backed up he had to understand why his baby sister was crying the night before.

"So, how was the drive with dad?" He asked even though he could see the tension she had when he first suggested her driving with him.

"Uneventful." Christina said staring out the window. "He did apologize on leaving me back in that barn." She said clearing her throat out of nerves. "Then he got the call from Caleb about Pastor Jim."

"You can tell me anything you know that right?" Dean said as they stopped at a red light. "I'm not going to think about you any different if something happened. I know you and Dad aren't the best of friends but I'm used to it from seeing him and Sam fight all the time."

"Yeah but I know you're the referee between them. I don't want to you be pulled in another way." She cleared her throat again before taking in a slow breath. "Just so you know I'm not mad at you for suggesting I go ride with him. But I would rather be with you and Sam from now on."

"I understand." Dean said nodding. "Come on lets get this research done, then maybe we'll go grab something to eat."

"Good idea, I could go for a double bacon cheeseburger and fries."

"Same."

Dean and Christina sat mowing over newspapers and even the internet for anything regarding the signs of a demonic attack but there wasn't anything. Both siblings let out soft groans of frustration as it became clear that either it never happened in Salvation or ,and in Dean's words as they left the library they were in, that the newspaper didn't think the signs were something to report on it.

"Well that was a waste of an hour." Dean grumbled sending a text to see where everyone else was.

"I don't think it was a waste." Christina said as they walked to the passenger side door of the Impala. "It helped your reading skills."

Dean took a few minutes before realizing the backhanded compliment looked at her with a shocked face. "Hey!"

"Love ya bro!" Christina said with a giggle making Dean grin. He liked his sister's sense of humor. "Come on let's get something to eat."

As they drove to the small diner nearby, Dean heard his cellphone start to ring and realized it was John that was calling. "Yes, sir?"

"Get back to the hotel. Sam found something."

"On our way." Dean said before hanging up and passing the diner. "Raincheck on lunch."

"That's fine. I hope John doesn't ask us about our failed research."

"God," Dean said a little exasperated as he drove. "You are sounding a bit like Sam. Was driving with Dad all that bad?"

"I'm sorry, but did you forget what he did with the vampires? He left me. He chose a weapon over me."

"Look, Dad was under a lot of stress."

"Stress my ass." Christina groaned rolling her eyes also quite surprised at how quickly they were fighting after joking and teasing each other earlier. "Besides, I'm just saying as it is. John has a problem of acting like if we fail at something it's like a personal hit towards him. Sadly I'm sensing it from you too."

"Look, I think this case is just messing with all of us. I'm sure once it's over, things will be a lot different. Trust me."

"I'd like to." Christina said her voice getting soft. "Thing about vengeance you never truly get it. There's always something that pulls you back." She turned and looked over at her brother and sighs. "But I do trust you Dean. I just wish I could trust John."
