Chapter 32

The Black Impala was easily concealed with the darkness that surrounded a construction site they had followed Gordon to. Once they pulled up next to Gordon's red Mustang, they knew they were in the right spot. They all silently climbed out of their own vehicle before they heard a loud scuffle inside the building. Dean led the way, followed by Sam, and Christina followed, looking like she would rather turn away. Sam noticed and would like to inquire into it more once they got back to the hotel.

Gordon's yells of pain and grunting were coming from a large open part of the building where there was a table saw plugged in, ready to be used. They saw Gordon being held down by the bartender who struggled to pull Gordon's neck towards the saw when Dean reacted.

Grabbing the back of the bartender's vest, Dean spun him around and saw the fangs glistening in the hanging lights. Dean grimaced as he heafted the man onto the table, allowing Gordon to roll away, and the vampire was in the perfect spot. His neck was in the open, allowing the saw blade to make short work of removing the vampire from the land of the living.

The blood that spattered across Dean's face made both Sam and Christina concerned as, even though it was part of their job, they both could see a blood lust that seemed to explode in Dean's eyes. Dean looked over at Gordon and helped him to his feet.

"Thanks for that." Gordon said shaking Dean's hand, while Dean wiped his face with a bandana he kept in his back pocket. "Guess I stand corrected. I do need some help after all. Or the one getting that buzzcut would have been me."

"Not sure it would have been all that bad." Christina said under her breath. "Waisting a good huntet would have been the tragic part, though."

Gordon choose to ignore the verbal bash he had received. "Come on, let me buy you a drink. That is if you're legal to have one." He added looking at Christina.

"I'm old enough, asshole." Christina spat back. "Surprised you're concerned now about me being underage when you had no problem trying to get me drunk last time we met."

Gordon eyes went slightly dark as his eyes narrowed but relaxed when he saw Dean glance over at her. "Still harping over that mistake all those years ago. I would say I was sorry but I never got your number."

"Whatever. It's not like I would have accepted it. But lets have this conversation elsewhere. I need that drink if I'm going to deal with you. At least I'll have my brothers here to back me up." She forced a smile before she stalked off.

Christina leaned against the Impala, trying to keep her from taking out her gun and shooting Gordon just for riling her up. She shook her head knowing she made the mistake in letting that creep keep poluting the world with his filthy breath. She felt hot tears streaming down her face as she fought from screaming. She hated how he just knew how to push her buttons. She closed her eyes and began to pray for the strength not to kill him. She could only hope Dean and Sam wouldn't take his side blindly if they were ask what the history between them was. But she forced the tears to stop when she climbed into the Imapala and forced her gaze to fall on the dashboard not wanting to meet anyone's gaze.

"What the hell was all that about?" Dean asked once he climbed in, though he kept his voice low so not scare his sister.

"Don't want to tell you." Christina said her voice just as low but cracked from fighting her emotions.

Dean opened his mouth to say something else but a stern look from Sam made him second guess it.

Sam felt uncomfortable watching as Dean and Gordon laughed and joked when their drinks came. He did however saw his sister slam back several shots before she sat back. "I'm gonna go." Sam said seeing the tears threatening to break through his sister's defences.

"Oh come on, Sammy!" Dean cheered slapping his brother's arm.

"Yeah, Sammy," Gordon cheered as well with a smile. "It's still early."

"No I got to take her to the hotel. Besides, only my siblings are allowed to call me, Sammy." He stood up helping his younger sister up before snagging Dean's keys as he wasn't going to drag his drunken sister back to the hotel and at least he'll let her know she can tell him anything whenever she was ready.

"Thanks, Sammy." Christina said once they were in the car. "I couldn't stand him." She laughed a little before continuing her fight against the tears. "I absolutely hate that man." Her voice was cracking making it hard not to cry.

"What happened?" He asked letting her tell him what was going on.

"I was a stupid fifteen year old." Christina said shaking her head. Her voice rising in self punishment. "I put in a lot of trust way too quick and he destroyed any hope of fixing it. He propositioned me for sex. I managed to get away. The only reason I was with him, was all because he saved my life. I shouldn't have saved him tonight. I wouldn't feel nearly as guilty knowing he's gone."

Sam looked surprised. "Didn't you say you were fifteen?" He asked surprised and needed to have a bit more information.

"Yeah, I was." Christina forced a chuckle as she slowly took slow breathes to calm her down. "He's part of the reason I had a hard time trusting you. You hid the fact you were a hunter and it was stirring up old memories about Gordon. But once you said you were one and were trying to leave I began to trust you. Gordon lost that trust and its kind of the same towards Christopher."

"Christopher... the guy from New Orleans?" Sam asked as they pulled into the hotel a few minutes away from the bar.

"Yeah. I mean he has called and apologized and understood if I never trust him again. But he has been texting me some helpful tips that make that feeling that I can trust him again. But it's not going to be an over night kind of situation."

"That makes sense." Sam said and glanced over at his sister and could see she was fighting with herself about something and he guessed it was the guilt of telling him about what Gordon had done. "You shouldn't feel guilty. Gordon's an ass and I can see that."

"Thanks for the reassurance. Now we just need Dean to do the same thing and not trust him. But I can see he's spiraling out of control."

"Has he talked to you about dad?" Sam asked as they walked into the hotel room.

"Not really, no. He's been mostly forcing the conversations to fixing up the car and other things to try and avoid talking about dad. I'm sure he'll come around. We just need to be patient. He's just as hard-headed as the rest of us." Christina unlocked the door and they headed in. She walked over to the couch she was planning on sleeping on, before grabbing her backpack and swinging it over her shoulder.

"Where you going?" Sam asked having a moment thinking she was going to run away.

"Oh, I'm going to take a shower. I need something to calm me down." She chuckled a little. "After tonight I wish I could bathe in Tequila."

Sam nodded thoughtfully. "How about I go and grab us some soda. It's nothing strong but it might help calm you down."

"Sounds like a good idea. I'm already starting to feel a migraine happening. Anything with caffine would be great, thanks. I'll pay you back."

"Don't worry about it." Sam said, and Christina disappeared into the bathroom. He listened to the shower going, and he figured she wouldn't hear him as he pulled out his cellphone and decided to call an unbiased party about his torn feelings towards Gordon.

The first time he called, he got an automatic voicemail saying the business was busy and figured Ellen and Jo were busy with the evening rush or just had a bunch of hunters show up for drinks. He tried again after a few minutes, giving whoever answered a few minutes to finish any other call, and listened to it ring twice before he could hear soft playing music and laughter in the background.

"Harvell's." Ellen greeted and Sam could hear the laughter of patrons in the background.

"Hey, Ellen it's Sam Winchester." Sam called back he was sure she would remember them as they only met just a few days ago.

"Hey Sam, glad to hear from you. Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I just need your opinion on someone."

"Well don't leave me in suspense." Ellen joked making Sam picturing his own mother teasing him about a girl.

"Well the three of us are on a case and we met up with a hunter named Gordon Walker. What's your take on him?"

"He's a good hunter." Ellen said her voice different from when she first called. "But he doesn't work well with others."

"But you said he's a good hunter."

"Yeah and Hannibel Lecter is a great phycologist. Look he's not someone you want to turn your back on. He will gladly stick a knife in there if he is given a chance."

Sam sighed and his sister's discomfort and lack of trust towards him was making sense. "Now what Christy said about his character is making sense. Well thanks Ellen."

"You're welcome Sam. You take care. Just got a large rush."

"Okay take care." Sam said before the line was disconnected.

"What did she say?" Christina's voice made Sam jump as he didn't expect her to be done with her shower so soon after getting in there. But her hair was wrapped up in a towel and she was wearing a tank top and sweat pants.

"About the same thing you said. He's a good hunter but not someone you can really trust."

"Glad there's someone else who can verify what I'm feeling." She frowned as she took her hair out of her towel. "So... you still going to get those drinks?" She laughed making Sam grin as he stood up.

"Yeah, smart ass." Sam joked and stood up. "Don't care what you want?"

"Dr. Pepper if they have it. If not, anything with caffeine."

Sam nodded and left their hotel room while Christina worked on brushing and braiding her hair into a ponytail. She barely glanced when the door opened but when she didn't see anyone standing there she stood up leaving a her braid halfway done. She slowly walked over to the door and peered outside, expecting Sam to jump out to tease her but she could barely see him at the end of the long sidewalk at the vending machine. She opened her mouth to say something when something hit her in the back of her head knocking her into a cold dark abyss.

"We should just kill them." A hushed man's voice caused Christina to wake up. She felt someone sitting next to her and she hoped it was someone she knew. "They're just like any of the other hunters. They just kill first then ask questions later."

"Look, Lenore said she doesn't want them to die. Maybe we can reason with at least these two. They seemed different then the others." The voices stopped for a second before starting up again. "Looks like they're awake." The feeling of a bag being lifted off their heads made Christina look around and felt relieved that she had Sam next to her.

"Where are we?" She asked trying to blink back the pain that began to build behind her eyes. "Did you also have to hit me so hard?"

"Sorry," a burly man said looking almost identical from the bartender they had killed just a few hours earlier. "I'm still used to knocking out cows so I didn't mean to hurt you so hard."

"I hope you didn't call me a cow." Christina hissed already wishing she could go back to the hotel.

"Why'd you bring us?" Sam said quickly wanting to attempt to calm things down as they wait for Lenore. "Are you here to use us as bait?"

"No," a woman with short dark hair walked into the room and sat down at the head of the table. "My name is Lenore. This is my nest. We were a nest of ten but because of the hunters that came here we're down to just seven."

"We didn't kill any of your nest..." Christina said her voice cutting off for a second. "Okay we did get one just a little while ago at a construction site. But the other two were from a different hunter."

"It doesn't matter who killed which one," Lenore said her voice growing dark. "The point is we brought you here so that we can get out of this area. I can't afford to loose anymore of my nest."

"How do we know you'll not kill us?" Sam asked confused why all the vampires were standing off in the back away from them.

"Has there been any reported deaths in the area to point to us?" Lenore asked her voice remaining calm. "Human deaths I should, clarify."

"No," both brother and sister said at the same time. "Only cows."

"That's all we've been killing." Lenore said sitting straighter. "We kill two to three cows and then we're settled for a while. Their blood, though fatty and disgusting, keep the blood lust at bay. Most other vampires will make it known they're after human blood. We just go after cows as there's plenty and a few cows dying doesn't raise the alarms nearly heavily as humans. Or at least I thought so."

"That's because you're after a mad man who is set on killing anything remotely Vampiric." Christina said her voice suddenly calm. "He doesn't care if you're killing cows or even rabbits. You're still drinking blood. I do have to aoologize as I smelt the blood on that bartender and I got scared. I didn't realize it was cow blood and I can take responsibility for his death. But the other two... I'm sorry for your loss."

"We both are." Sam added agreeing with his sister. "We both were raised to see monster or human. Black and white. So there's monsters out there doing their best not to kill the innocent?"

"Yes. As far as I know we are a small group who can work together with the humans. Don't we deserve the right to live?"

"And you will. I can stay and help you out." Christina said quickly. "If Gordon caught your scent he won't stop at nothing to make sure you're put down. He doesn't have the grey filter in his mind. My brother here can try and talk to them."

Lenore thought of what Christina was saying and slowly nodded. "I had a feeling we outstayed our welcome here. Very well, Spike, you'll take her brother back to the hotel. The other one is going to stay and help us leave tonight. We will drop you off in a safe place so that your family doesn't think we kidnapped you."

"I appreciate it. But may I ask you something? How do you change people to join your nest? Usually those changed are keen to attack humans so fiercely." Sam asked as Spike headed back with the bag to cover his face again.

"We were all volunteers. We've been on this earth for several hundred years. In fact we broke off from another group that you had taken out I believe. Lucian I believe his name was."

"I remember him." Christina said quietly.

"I figured. But for now we need to start moving. Grab only the necessities. I'll help with that. Spike, hurry back. We'll need both vehicles."

Spike nodded and covering Sam's head helped the tall hunter back to the truck that was parked outside.

"You seem tense." Lenore said to Christina as they stood to watch the truck back up and drive away.

"Just a bad feeling." Christina said before turning to head back inside the house."Let's get you packed."
