Episode 28:

THE PRINCE SURRENDERS: THE NEW ORDER OF THE SAIYAN RACE

With a swift punch, Vegeta's fist sunk into the King's cheek to which the earth beneath him sunk upon impact, "Just because you never gave a damn about me father, it is still very much true - a bond between a father and his son is impossible to break but here today, at last - I have broken my bond with you. Everything that I am, everything that I was - it was all because of you! Because of you I don't even know who I am."

"A warrior of course."

"No, not what I am!" snapped Vegeta, "Who!"

Vegeta charged a growing blast in his hand as his father looked on in devastation. Was this finally his end? And at the hands of his own son?

"Get up!" commanded Vegeta.

The King touched his tender cheek and he grimaced, eyeing Vegeta with an intense rage but he obeyed nonetheless.

"For the first time as an adult, I relish in the thought of killing someone. Not as an order or out of vengeance but of pure joy and I want you to suffer immensely."

The blast finally achieved its final form and Vegeta was about to release but something caught his eye. He shivered despite himself and immediately felt ashamed. He raised his other hand and an upsurge of wind emanated and an upsurge of debris and dirt kicked up. The saiyans and his father looked on perplexed by this action. Who was he attacking?

He continued in a calmer tone and lowered his hand and thus the blast was reduced to nothing, "But...I will not allow myself to succumb to old ways ever again, for a great truth has been revealed to me that solidified where I stand as a man and as such I will, for my sake as well as yours, show mercy."

He turned around to face a trembling Sentee and as before asked for his assistance with the metal bars and in no time the King was caught behind a prison all his own. The energy strain proved too much for him as he slumped to his knees, instantly exhausted.

Vegeta studied the man before him for a while longer before he addressed the saiyans.

"Listen up! All of you!" Vegeta bellowed and each one stood at rapt attention, "As your Prince, I beg of you to forge peaceful lives for yourself and gain power but legimitately because true strength abides in the heart."

With a heavy sigh, Vegeta understood that what he was about to say was difficult but necessary, "And secondly, I relinquish my title as Prince of all saiyans. I am no greater or less of a class than any of you. "

He looked over the men and women that stood before him and a smile crept on his face at their astonishment, "In fact, to hell with the damn royalty. The saiyan race was destroyed decades ago. Through Kakarot and myself and our children, we have proven that our race is truly mighty. Perhaps the mightiest in the universe. With such potential power, we need not bow down to another. Now go out there and make a new saiyan race, a better one. Power and the thrill of victory is important but there is none other that can compare to that of family and love. That lesson was taught to me right here on this planet about two decades ago and proven to me on a little blue planet called Earth."

"Ha," a saiyan remarked, "Love and family? Please - we are warriors - we fight, we kill."

Many grunted their agreement.

"And what's it to you how we go about getting power? How do you think we got to this point? We've been collecting energy from plenty throughout our travels in the universe before settling here on Mezora."

"And as I said before, Ringo is our true King!"

"Stop, all of you!" Ringo bellowed and the rowdy crowd settled, "I made claims earlier to be the true King of the saiyans. However, the principles of which he has spoken of, I have always sought for our people. There is no one way to describe a race. We are not solely evil - each man or woman is born into this world with a decision to choose good or evil. Do not fool yourselves that your destiny is being fulfilled by you damning yourselves to hell."

A pregnant pause hovered over them.

"As was presented to you before, seek out family. That is the most important in this life, not power. Teach your children and their children's children to live by such conduct. If, for any reason that it happens to be any of you causing mayhem in any part of the universe, I swear to it that you will answer to me or my associates. Do I make myself clear?" Ringo bellowed.

"I am not aware of how it was on our home world for I never experienced life on it but if we truly were such a vicious lot then we should have been exitnct eons ago. We are warriors, yes, not imbeciles that blinding hop from planet to planet wiping everything out. That was when we were under Frieza's orders. And I do believe Frieza has been long dead!"

Vegeta nodded towards Ringo and he too smiled.

Casting a quick glance behind him, Vegeta addressed the two prisoners in a condescending tone, "I will let the locals decide when you should be released but by then I guarantee you will be as powerful as a pebble."

"As powerful as a pebble!" exclaimed Yu-Natto, trying her darnest to muffle her laughter but she could not hold back as she collapsed into a hearty fit, "As powerful as a pebble, oh wow, the Prince sure is funny!" Her eyes widened in embarrassment and she corrected herself, "I mean - you - um...well...that guy...sure is funny."

Berrie shook her head, staring at the woman in amazement, "What an idiot."

"His name is Vegeta, Yu-Natto," Poompa assured.

"Oh, so they're two of them!" Yu-Natto said, wiping the tears that rolled down her cheek but still very much caught up in her glee, "Hey, Vegeta! It must suck to be named after that guy, huh!"

Vegeta growled but his smile did not falter.

"Thank you, Vegeta," Ringo said, "For everything. You are in my debt for always." And with that he dashed off.

"Same here, Prince, I mean...well..." Poompa said and grabbed hold of him in a tight hug, "Until we meet again."

"Of course," Vegeta nodded.

Each saiyan took to the sky and soon it was just the prisoners and Sentee and Vegeta.

"Must you always have that thing on?" asked Vegeta, eyeing the purple mist curiously with the few remaining metal bars that remained.

"Yeah, well, this is the only way to make sure these things don't drain us too."

Vegeta fired a sudden blast and the metal bars were reduced to fine dust. Finally, Sentee was able to relax his arm and the purple mist disappeared.

"Does your magic work on people as well?" Vegeta asked, eyeing the purple mist expectantly.

Sentee shook his head, "People have their own energy, so no. How comes you..."

"Well, I suppose the boys will have to be carried the old fashion way after all."

"Huh? The boys?" Sentee asked, looking around furtively, "Where are they? Are they OK?"

"Do not be concerned," Vegeta said. He turned behind him and shot a conninving glare towards his father, "There was never any harm that came to them at all."

The words struck a chord and it showed on the King's face. He growled, "You - You mean you - you tricked me! How dare you! B-But how could you...damn you, boy! Damn you!"

"Hm," Vegeta said, turning his head away, ignoring his father's surprisingly energectic rant.

Vegeta made his way to a thick section of the forest and Sentee followed.

"Hi, Mr. Vegeta - is it safe to come out now?" asked Goten as he groggily made his way forward as he fell onto Vegeta's leg and subsequently fell into a deep sleep.

"Goten! Is he..." Sentee exclaimed but his fears vanished when he heard the soft rumblings from the boy and the sudden appearance of dribble slowly making its way down.

"Hey, Dad," greeted Trunks, "Twice in a row! Seriously? What's the point of blowing us so far off. We're still pretty beat and we had to trek all the way back here."

"And Trunks!" Sentee exclaimed excitedly. He embraced the boy for far longer than he should have but he could not be more relieved that indeed they were alive and well unlike Piccolo's suspicions.

"Thank you, son," Vegeta said as he clasped a hand on the boy's shoulder.

"What for?"

"For not letting history repeat itself. To kill him in front of you would have...well, let's just say it was never my intention to corrupt you as my own father has to me. For a long time I thought it had been Frieza but I see the truth now."

"I know you didn't kill him," Trunks pointed out in a frank tone.

Vegeta looked at him oddly as though trying to contemplate what he had just heard. There was no way that the boy could possibly know what he was talking about.

"Whatever you say, son."

"Dad, come on - give me some credit."

Vegeta smirked, "You are wise beyond your years, son and I couldn't be more proud of you."

"Yeah, I know, no sweat," Trunks casually said in a mocking tone, "I'm obviously...heh, Dad! What up man!"

Without warning, Vegeta took hold of him and had swung him over his shoulder.

"Aw, come on Dad!" he wailed.

"You are not yet a man but a child - I will hold you when and how I please," Vegeta said with a proud smirk and Trunks pouted. He grabbed hold of Goten by the shirt with him dangling along.

"Thank you, brother, for everything," he nodded to Sentee.

"Leaving so soon?" Sentee asked.

"Yes. I have a wife to go back home to - she's expecting."

"Congratulations, brother!" Sentee exclaimed and patted him on the shoulder.

Vegeta nodded.

"We have a special medicine that can heal their wounds overnight," Sentee shared, eyeing the boys with deep sorrow.

Vegeta smiled, "That would be good. His mother would kill me if I brought them back looking like this. We will stay one more day then."

Sentee nodded, "And make plenty of visits then afterwards, right brother?"

Vegeta smiled, "Indeed. I no longer fear the memories of this world. Besides, we will need to aid your people with the technology and essentials I brought to help rebuild."

"I would very much love that."

They smiled and nodded at the same time.

"Oh, so that's what were in those big bags Mom made me pack," Trunks laughed nervously.

"Finally, peace," Sentee smiled.

"Yes - finally."

"Well, Prince, now what?"

"My name is Vegeta. And I'm hungry, if you don't mind," he smirked gleefully.

Above in a nearby tree, holding on for dear life, Piccolo studied the situation before him with intrigue.

"Vegeta - not a prince anymore, hmph. What next? Goku's a chef?" he grunted.

Then he pondered, 'After what I just witnessed, I especially do not trust him. I can only hope and pray that all hell does not break loose when we return to earth. I am leaving this planet with more questions than answers but at the very least I have assured that an Elmorite was forced to make a wish under the Great Ruler's orders. He is currently fulfilling his punishment but I can't wait until the day that Vegeta fulfills his. Until then.'
